I had gone to three different makeup artists for trials and couldn't find anyone who did my makeup how I wanted, but she nailed the look that I was going for. I was so disappointed with Ruth. From the beginning of my service, I told Ruth that I have dry skin and therefore don't like for there to be too many powders on my face. She insisted on powdering me up anyway since I was attending a wedding. I agreed to minimal powder but she didn't listen, she over-did the powder to the point of me having dry patches all over my face. Additionally, I asked her during the middle of her applying my concealer if she had forgotten to apply foundation or was going to do that later, and she told me I didn't need foundation. Now, I have pretty clear skin, but foundation is a must for any glam look. If I'm attending a wedding where I'll be a bridesmaid and I'll be photographed and I'll be under spotlights dancing, how do you expect my makeup to look good or last without a base? Foundation is so necessary for skin to look flawless in high definition photography and not looked washed out under harsh lights. Foundation is what helps blush/contour/highlight stick to your skin better & last longer through hours of dancing. I was shocked that she refused to apply foundation on me and said that the concealer and powder would be enough. But because I didn't want to argue with her, I let her continue. As if this wasn't annoying enough, she decided to use finish my look by using a TONER as setting spray. On dry skin.... Any seasoned makeup artist knows that toners usually contain alcohol (which dries your skin up more) and toners like the Mario Badescu one she used on me, are not suitable for dry skin, nor do they work as makeup setting sprays!! For $125, you should expect the artist to use an actual setting spray, apply foundation, and listen to your skin concerns / needs. Not to mention, her website says that a makeup touch up kit is included but she never offered that to me or my sister. By the time I got to the wedding event, I could see dry patches caused by too much powder all over my face, and I could see the Hyperpigmentation under my eyes and around my mouth from the lack of foundation & color corrector. I actually cried and washed my face and re-did my makeup myself because I refused to look so horrid in all the photos. I would never recommend glambyruthie to anyone, and I sincerely feel like I wasted $125. read more

I unfortunately had a very poor experience. She was slow to get back to me when coordinating my trial on several occasions and then I did my trial and I did not like my makeup. She tried to fix it but it just got worse. I was too embarrassed to even stop at the grocery store on the way home. She said I could come back for another trial. My wedding is in September so I have PLENTY of time. I just contacted her to redo the trial and she had booked my date without saying anything to me. I was livid that I just paid $100 for a poor trial and now my date is not even available. She refused to refund me. I am going with a different person now and will not make the same mistake twice.
