Twenty…read moreminutes after I dropped off my dog, the owner, Amandalynn Moon, called me to tell me they were going to shave my dog's tail. The tail was not matted, and I told her I did not want the tail shaved and to just leave it alone and not trim it at all. She yelled at me, "Come get your dog now!" She actually threw my dog out just because I told her not to trim my dog's tail. This extreme inflexibility and hostility toward me and the fact that they now require clients to book their pets no more than 8 weeks apart, are conclusive evidence that this business does not prioritize customer desires and needs. I'm glad I found out what these people are like. My dog deserves better. I would give this business a minus rating if I could. The owner of Bark at the Moon gave a hostile and unprofessional response to my review and is further proof that this business is not interested in understanding or resolving problems. Here is my response: You have been waiting for my review? I'll bet you HAVE been because you aren't businesspeople. You are bullies! The fact that you want to argue about this proves that you do not know how to run a business. There are so many untruths and exaggerations in your response. How I spoke to YOU? On the phone, you brusquely stated that you were going to shave my dog's tail. You didn't ask whether I approved or offer to discuss it. I tried to let you off the hook by saying don't trim her tail at all. You then yelled at me to come get my dog and hung up the phone. Your demeanor was unacceptable. There was no previous warning or discussion about matting (I had been a customer for more than a year), and I would never have accepted a future appointment with you had I received such a threat that you would shave my dog. I brush my dog regularly, and her tail was not matted. The fact is you don't know how to deal with a Bichon's cottony, fine fur. You say you don't brush out a tail you consider matted (it was NOT matted). I didn't ask you to brush it or do anything to it. I said don't touch the tail. Don't trim it at all! But you didn't let it rest at that. Instead, you threw my dog out. I did NOT swear at any employee. After you called me, I came back expecting to pick up my dog without incident, and your husband, whom you had called in while I was on my way, greeted me in a belligerent manner, ordered me to pay for an unfinished grooming, and threatened to call the police. It is not your place to judge customers on how they care for their pets, especially when you don't know what you're talking about. Your last statement that you will not do what the owner wishes if it will harm the pet (based of course on your opinion only), says all one needs to know about you. I told you NOT to trim her tail at all, so I did not ask you to do anything that could harm her. Surely even your confused mind can understand that not touching her tail does no harm.

There are things I like and things I don't like. Bad news first. They try to keep you with the same…read moregroomer which can be good, but it does make it harder to get an appointment because you have to wait for your groomer to call you back. I haven't experienced the rudeness that has been shared in review from other patrons, but they are very busy so they tend to sacrifice some niceties in favor of efficiency. I've found that they are super nice though if I start with an acknowledgement of how busy they are, or a compliment on my baby's last haircut. The good news is that they are conveniently located, they make the best effort to get you an appointment that works with your schedule, they are reasonably priced, and I haven't ever been unhappy with the results. Pricing was a big issue for me because I have a poodle that needs to be groomed more often. At other salons, I could only afford twice a year, and I was doing a home haircut in between. Needless to say that was not my baby's best look. At this salon, I feel like I can call and make an appointment when my baby needs it, and not worry about the price. So I've bumped him up to three haircuts a year, and I'm thinking about making it four and just scheduling them ahead to avoid the rush of trying to get him in at a convenient time.

I did give her another chance. It was a Complete disaster. The owner refused to do anything I requested and I found her to be quite lackadaisical. Didn't cut or even bother to trim my Australian Shepherd, didn't cut her nails didn't grind the nails yet she told me she did. I think I made the mistake of pre-paying when I wouldn't have otherwise. Lesson learned never pre-pay! I am a very unsatisfied customer and I will not be returning!!

I brought in my cavapoo (11lb) dog & she insinuated I was abusing her. This dog is my whole world & lives like a queen. She has NEVER been abused. Then she up charged me to shave her!!

I simply dropped Birdy off on my way into work (where I had a lovely chat with Krista about how much we love our Frenchie babies) and then went about my day, and they delivered her back home safe, sound, and smelling lovely! I was especially pleased with her nails, which were trimmed and filed to my (admittedly high) standards, and with the pretty bow to match her collar! I stressed that I did not want them to shave her hair down close to her skin. She did have some matting, which I told them about when dropping her off, but they told me they could work with it. I also asked that her face be rounded, but they did not trim her face AT ALL. She had long bangs that hung over her eyes and they didn't even touch them, just put them in bows. She had 1 mat on top of her head and they shaved her head in that one spot and left the rest of it long. It looked absolutely ridiculous :( My husband and I had to cut her bangs ourselves when we got home just so she could SEE. They had her from 4:15pm - 7:30pm and I don't think they even gave her a bath. She didn't smell like shampoo and she still had dirt in her tail (which had also not been trimmed) Her nails were poorly cut so they were still sharp and long, one of them split in half at the tip? We think that because they were busy, they kept her in a kennel for the majority of the time and then rushed to finish her so they could go home. We will not be coming back and I do not recommend you bring your babies here.

I get that the owner must prefer animals-- but since animals aren't going to walk in on their own, human skills are also needed. Those are not skills this owner possesses. Her organizational skills are lacking also. When I spoke to her assistant to schedule the first time, I asked for a fax number to send the boys vaccinations, and after taking the time to do that, this woman had no idea how to access her faxes for some reason, and I had to bother my vet's office again. I took my two teacup Pomeranians here ONE time. One of my poms had a pretty, full coat when he went in, and when he came out, half of it was gone. I specifically asked that he not be trimmed too much. My husband thought we should give the groomer another chance. When I came for a second time, and asked her not to cut it short like last time, she argued with me, swearing she didn't cut it short. Now maybe she defines "short" as shaved to the skin or something, but his hair was so much shorter, that we had to put him in a harness one size smaller. Never had that with another groomer. Not only that, but however she cut his hair, it is not growing back. She basically wrecked his coat, and is trying to blame the dog, saying he has "coat funk" (which our vet says is made up groomer jargon). Rather than blaming the dog, all this woman needed to do was to listen to me when I told her not to cut too much of my dog's hair off. Instead, she had to be right, and had to have the last word. She refused to listen, was rude, and kept repeatedly using this term "coat funk." The final straw was when she said "I didn't give your dog coat funk." No lady, you gave him the crappiest hack job of a hair cut he's ever had, and wrecked his coat. You did that. Not the dog. And I will let everyone know that this is the last place to take a dog you care about. If your dog has any kind of double coat, I advise you to go elsewhere. If you have any special instructions you want implemented, go elsewhere. If you want to be listened to, go elsewhere. You and your dog deserve better.

They assured me they'd be careful and take their time. I found a cut and several scratched on my pups little arm upon picking her up. I was not notified that my pup was injured and when I called to talk to them about it, they didn't respond. They still haven't responded :(
