I was running 4 mins behind due to traffic and they went ahead and brought in the appointment behind me since they were already there and waiting. Not ideal for me of course but great if the shoe had been on the other foot. It's a pretty cozy space so I waited for the appointment to wrap up by admiring the small town views and a few new pair of glasses. Dr. Nguyen was a pleasure. She was knowledgeable and made sure that I had just as much of an understanding of what was going on with my eyes. I didn't feel rushed at all going through my exam and she gave me thoughtful suggestions on my next steps to ensure that my eye health was being prioritized. I also appreciated that Dr. Nguyen sanitized the equipment before having me use each machine. At the front desk for check out, the woman who helped me there was also really patient as I scrambled to find my HSA card to pay. It started pouring down raining and she was even kind enough to walk me through the back door to my car so I wouldn't get as wet. I will be ordering my new contacts from here soon and was told the turnaround time is really quick. I look forward to receiving them and I am excited to have a new eye doctor.

However, my issue lies with the experience of getting my glasses prescription filled. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted a basic, affordable second pair of glasses. I mentioned this multiple times--at least three times--but I felt pushed toward more expensive options that I didn't want. When I finally chose a frame covered by my insurance, I was told that my lenses required special processing because of my prescription. The price I was quoted for the lenses was over $500. When I said I couldn't afford that and didn't intend to spend more than $300, the price suddenly dropped to $308 within seconds. Why wasn't this lower option presented to me in the first place? The sudden shift in pricing felt shady and left me questioning the transparency of the process. It felt like I was being pressured into spending more than necessary, and the whole experience came across as unprofessional. I hope this feedback encourages a more honest and straightforward approach in the future. Customers should feel respected and confident in their choices--not pushed into something they don't want or can't afford.

So today when we came in I asked them again and the front ladies stated that they didn't check it (even though I asked them too)! However, they did not verify my client's insurance, so they did that while Dr. Chapman saw me. They never checked my old glasses for my rx, so after Dr. Chapman saw me, he said he would get that and let me know. My client needed glasses, so their pitch was $150 for the single lenses if you picked from their selection of frames. We chose two and had been told by the dr they would be ready same day or next day. Today, a week out, I was notified by the office that they received one set of lenses and one pair is ready but the frames don't match the lenses they sent and we needed to come pick another pair. We don't live in the neighborhood and I was not ready to start over. I feel like they wanted to dump cheap frames that were old and couldn't sell and made lots of promises they could not keep. Dr. Chapman never came back to me after receiving my rx to explain anything, any plan for treatment of my dry eyes or any precautions or issues. Not sure what happened, but this was our first visit since he moved away from Northpark and is most likely our last.

This is my second year coming to this establishment for my annual eye exam. They are located at…read moreCostco, but NOT inside Costco. Their office is attached to the Costco building, but they are independently owned and operated. You do NOT need a Costco membership to use this optometrist. Anyone can use their services whether you have insurance or not. Both times, it was easy to make an appointment. First time we walked in after shopping at Costco and made appointments in person. I had time, so I saw them later the same day. My husband came back later in the week. On my second visit here a year later, I called and made an appointment on the phone. My information was already in the system, so it was quick to setup. They offer several types of eye tests. When filling out your paperwork, it clearly states which tests are offered and the cost for each. You indicate on your paperwork which tests you want. The test options are: 1) The field test (the one where you push a button every time you see a light flash on the screen 2) The puff test (the one where they blow a puff of air into your eye) 3) The digital imaging test (the one where they take a picture of the back of your eye to check on the health of the blood vessels) Even though my insurance only covers one of the tests, I get everything and pay out of pocket for the rest. The technician takes you through the above tests. You sit on a wheeled stool and slide to the left until you have visited each machine. After a short wait, you visit with the doctor to discuss your concerns. You will read the usual eye charts "EZOST" and do the "Which one is clearer, 1 or 2?" test. If you requested dilation of the eyes, the doctor will put the drops in and then you'll wait in the lobby for the solution to take affect. After awhile, you'll be called back in to go over your test results and do some more basic tests where the doctor will shine lights in your eyes to check your eye health and vision. I've seen two different doctors here. Both were very professional and answered my questions. Before leaving, you'll pay any amounts owed and receive print outs of distance and reading prescriptions as well as a receipt for the services rendered. The staff were kind enough to provide me with a pair of take home glasses (actually a piece of dark film that adheres to your face) to protect my eyes until the dilation wore off. There are no frames for sale here, so no high pressure sales. If you have a Costco membership, you can venture inside the building and pick and buy frames, but if you don't, you can take your prescription to any favorite retailer to get your preferred frames at a price that works for you. I appreciate the courtesy and professional service I receive here. They communicate everything clearly and in advance of service. There are no surprises in care or cost. This is a great optometrist office.
