He took copious notes on what he found, told us what he thought we should do, and then he got to work. We knew we were in good hands because we could see the passion Dave has for his craft. (His knowledge can not be challenged.) He covered every inch of the boat. When all was said and done; we were able to take the boat out on a nearby lake. Dave took us through the paces, showing us what he did and why, and how to "love" our boat in the future. He also tweaked our trailer so that the boat would have a safe journey home. We rented two jet skis and a 14-person pontoon for a bachelorette party. Unfortunately, our…read moreexperience was disorganized from start to finish. The blonde employee at check-in was professional and attentive, but once we finished the paperwork, no one told us where to go. We were simply told that a young employee talking at the counter was our guide. We waited outside for about 10 minutes before I finally went back inside to ask where we were supposed to be, only to find he had already walked out a side door. During the boat inspection, the guide almost marked the propeller as undamaged despite obvious chunks missing from two of the three blades. We had to point out the damage so it would be documented before we left. Things became much more concerning once we got on the water. We were handed four life jackets for two jet skis, told to wear two of them, and assured the other two would be placed on the pontoon. They never were. Later, one member of our group became uncomfortable operating a jet ski in the busy, choppy water near Torch Lake and needed to switch with someone else. That's when we realized we had no spare life jackets on the pontoon. With nowhere safe to dock, someone had to move between the pontoon and the jet ski without wearing a life jacket. We were immediately stopped by law enforcement and cited. The officer also pointed out that one of the jet skis was missing required registration numbers. When we reached the sandbar, we discovered the pontoon only had two small anchors for a large boat in rough water, and one of the jet skis had no anchor at all. Someone from our group had to spend the afternoon babysitting the jet skis instead of enjoying the day. Given the water conditions, I'm not convinced the jet skis should have been rented out that day to inexperienced riders. We returned about an hour and a half early. The dock staff were rude, instructed everyone to leave their belongings on the boat during fueling, and then criticized my group for not having a payment method at the fuel dock because our wallets were still on the boat. I also went to the office to discuss the safety issues we experienced, only to find the front door locked and no employees inside. Between the missing safety equipment, questionable maintenance, poor communication, and unprofessional customer service, this was not the experience we expected. There are plenty of other marinas in the area, and I would recommend renting from one of them instead

We spent the day exploring the shores of torch lake on a slow cruise but when we wanted to go back to the sand bar the boat was well able to handle much higher speeds. The boat was clean and fully functioning which was awesome! We will be back year after year!

I figured I would be dealing with it Tuesday morning after the holiday weekend. While waiting for the wrecker, I googled auto repair for Kalkaska. I thought maybe I could get lucky and find a place open in the morning. I found Johnny's and it said 24/7 repair (I thought, yeah sure). I call and Jonny picks up. His words were if he can get the parts, he would get it done. Long story short, I had friends pick up my 5th wheel and wife and take them camping. I stayed behind with the hopes it would be complete as soon as possible. I made it to the campground with my truck back in order by midnight. Everybody at the campground were waiting for my call to come and get me because they all said there is no way it would be done before the END of the weekend. The price was more than fare, and Im only giving a 5 star because that is as good of a review as I can give. Thanks again, Jonny!!!

You can tell they truly love what they do, and give you that "mom and pop" service that is so rare to find nowadays. We thought we left our car keys on the boat so Hank came back to pick up my husband to take him back on the boat. It wasn't there, but thankfully we found them in one of the hidden pockets of our daughter's backpack. The next day Teresa called to make sure we found them. Who does that? We stayed at Chain O' Lakes campground so Alden Marine & Sport was only around 10 minutes away. We went in, said we only had a couple of hours to kayak, we paid, they packed them in the truck & we followed the truck to the drop off point, which was only 1 mile down the road. Fast, friendly service, exactly what we needed that morning! So easy & no hassle. Definitely recommend!

We called a few times prior to booking wth questions, everyone was helpful and friendly. The place was easy to find and we were checked in, paid up and on the water quickly. Instructions for driving the boat and navigating the waterways were thorough. The boat was brand new, nice and clean! Better than some rentals for sure. The best part was that there was some rain in the forecast so they kept our phone number handy and contacted us when the radar started to show inclement weather.
