If you choose to pair it on with the cliff, make sure to do that trail first and it will lead into the falls trail. The cliff trail is MUCH more challenging and is not recommended unless you are experienced with hiking. For the falls trail, I would recommend allotting 2-3 hours. It's a quick and easy trail that will take you maybe 45-1 hour each way depending on your experience, but you'll want to spend some time at the falls. Highly recommend!

I was to the top in about 35-40 min. The trail is actually pleasant even without the views. At the top, the reward is huge, really nice views in an alpine area. Plenty of space to spread out up top, so you can space out. Lots of kids and dogs, but people that day were all respectful and pleasant. There is still cell phone coverage at the top (I use AT&T.)

Take Hurricane Mountain Road off of Route 16 near the Intervale Scenic Vista. The Parking lot will be on the right near the summit of the road. Warning - this road is steep and winding! The trail is well marked and is approximately one mile in each direction. It is a slow, gradual climb with a lot of tree roots in the beginning that eventually give way to scattered rocks and then to all rock on the summit. If you are not an experienced hiker or do not have the proper gear (I fall into both of these categories) I would not attempt this when the ground is wet as it can be slippery on a good day. It's a good hike Spring through Fall, but hiking it in the Fall is by far my favorite. The view of the changing colors from the top is amazing.

This is a difficult excision, and the trail may be wet, and even in rock climbing shoes is slippery. There were also orange slugs everywhere, which with foot hold slipping got squished by hands. The first several miles are flat, and then you start bouldering into and then up the Ravine. We did find some show in June, and the caves were cold and refreshing. The climb up to the top of the ravine is challenging, but you are rewarded with epic photo ops and views. The only unpleasantness was the mosquitos and black flies. Kids always bring your bug repellent. You can also extend the hike to hit the peak of Mount Adams. It is prone to storms and lightening. You can seek shelter in the hut near the peak if trapped in a storm. You do not have to go back down the ravine, you can return vis the Mount Adams trail, it is a loop.

There is a parking lot and we were able to find parking but I'm sure it gets full at peak times. We enjoyed the hike and the waterfalls. It was in late May so there were quite a few people there. When you park there is a kiosk to pay that takes credit cards. At the start of the trail there is a bathroom that is just a big outhouse. It was a little rough so I recommend not using it if you get sick easy. The hike is short and easy to the water. When you get there it is a little tough climbing over rocks and tree roots. We spend time in the water. It was not deep anywhere we were so not really swimming just cooling off or sun tanning on the rocks.

The main draw (for me anyway) is the 15-foot waterfall where the Swift River gushes over the smooth carved boulders - it's beautiful! But it's my understanding that this is a great place to frolic in natural swimming holes and jump off the rocks and enjoy the water in the warmer months. I had a great time exploring the area! There were butterflies EVERYWHERE!! Many different species - but one species was being particularly cooperative and I had a great time with my camera - and turns out it was a Pink-edged Sulfur which is the State Butterfly of Maine! It's easy to find - right off Swift River Rd and it's free. Theres a picnic area with several tables and a fun giant chair with a story about Paul Bunyan next to it. Everything is well maintained and there's a campground nearby. I didn't see any bathrooms.

It is on a mountain so you gain a lot of elevation during the hike which can make it pretty tiring. It is relentless, but just keep thinking about the view and you'll eventually make it to the top before you know it. The view is completely worth it. It took us about 1.5 hours to hike up and about 1 hour to get down going along the same trail. I'd suggest bringing water, snacks, and food to enjoy at the top of the mountain. You'll also want some time to sit and enjoy the views.

What a beautiful and serene spot!…read more Echo Lake is approximately 15.7 acres. Two granite ledges called White Horse and Cathedral Ledge surround it. We went later in the afternoon so parking was ample. A short walk leads you to the picnic area and lake. It's about a 1 mile hike around the lake. The water was clear and cold. There were lots of mosquitoes at that hour. We enjoyed seeing the tadpoles in the water. My family enjoyed our time there and can't wait to go back to this picturesque spot!

They do have a large parking lot, but it seems to fill very quickly. The beach is very family oriented. You can rent canoes. You can rent kayaks. You can rent paddle boats. The fees are very reasonable. They have tubes. You can also purchase for a small fee of six dollars. The beach was not overcrowded. They have many hiking trails and areas around that area as well. They have charcoal grills that you can use up off the beach with some grassy area that you could also camp at. There is also a bathhouse there that's open as well as a small store There are no lifeguards it's a swim at your own risk Very very clean

Attended a friends wedding here yesterday. What a beautiful location for a wedding! Only problem…read morewas the rude staff members. How many coordinators does a wedding need? 4? 6? Well, that's how many they had. There were SO many "coordinators" involved that they just made things confusing and rushed. Too many cooks in the kitchen. I witenssed guests constantly scolded for things ALL day. Don't park here, don't stand here. Can't take a photo of that, etc, etc, etc. Got rushed through taking bridal & family photos just to wait around for 45 minutes for the reception to start. I know it's a historical location but if you want to have weddings here you should get people who are nice and actually know what they're doing.
