What a beautiful and serene spot! Echo Lake is approximately 15.7 acres. Two granite ledges called White Horse and Cathedral Ledge surround it. We went later in the afternoon so parking was ample. A short walk leads you to the picnic area and lake. It's about a 1 mile hike around the lake. The water was clear and cold. There were lots of mosquitoes at that hour. We enjoyed seeing the tadpoles in the water. My family enjoyed our time there and can't wait to go back to this picturesque spot! read more

m a local to the state of NH about 1.5hr drive from this beautiful place Will recommend Will return Check the bacteria site before heading up to make sure its swim able I have state park plates so I went to New Hampshire State Parks website and made a reservation for this particular day in Wood State Park plates you pay one dollar which is your processing fee Without state Park plates, the entry fee is eight dollars per car I recommend making reservations on the website rather than just rolling up in person. They do have a large parking lot, but it seems to fill very quickly. The beach is very family oriented. You can rent canoes. You can rent kayaks. You can rent paddle boats. The fees are very reasonable. They have tubes. You can also purchase for a small fee of six dollars. The beach was not overcrowded. They have many hiking trails and areas around that area as well. They have charcoal grills that you can use up off the beach with some grassy area that you could also camp at. There is also a bathhouse there that's open as well as a small store There are no lifeguards it's a swim at your own risk Very very clean read more

This is a wonderful state park with stunning views. The park is clean and beautiful. They have new restrooms and a marked trail. You literally could spend the day here, bring a picnic and or plan to swim in the lake. We made our way around the loop and enjoyed the hike. Just a short note: have good shoes as the trail is very rooted from the trees. There is a small fee to enter the park of $4.00 and well worth it. read more

Absolutely, one of my favorite State Park Beaches. The views are amazing of Cathederal Ledge. And the water is pure Heaven. $4 per adult. They take cash, debit, CC. Beach area parking closes at 6 but you move your car and stay longer. They have picnic tables. They have bathrooms and a snack shack that sells cute memorabilia, snacks, floats etc. read more

This is a lovely place. The Park Ranger was helpful in showing us a map of where to go to get the views we wanted. I was a few cents short of the $4 per person for my group, but that was OK. The beach looks nice, but it was too cool when we went. We took the Whitehorse Ledge trail, but didn't do the loop. The Rainger one side was a bit harder to follow, and we are not seasoned hikers. We did an out and back following the yellow markings and it was very clear to get there. I found some parts of Whitehorse challenging, but I was so happy I did it. Warning: bathrooms at the bottom were smelly and didn't look great. I opted to drive elsewhere. read more

This place is great. It's $4 per adult and easy to find parking. The lake is surrounded by trees and trails but we went for the beach/swimming. The beach area is rather small, but there was still room for everyone. If you get there in the morning the main part of the beach is still shaded, which can be nice. They also have a huge picnic area for you to bbq or have lunch. There were a few climbers scaling the rock wall in front of us which was pretty cool. read more

We parked at Echo lake ($4/ person) to hike up to Cathedral Ledge. You could also park on the road to the top to begin the hike (I think that is slightly shorter). Not sure if there is a fee for that parking. Of course for those not looking for a challenge you can drive to the top. The approx 1.5 mile hike has some steep sections since you gain over 600' of elevation on this hike. The views are worth it. The day we did this hike was after Labor Day so there were few people on the trail, at the top and at the lake. I'm sure this place is a zoo on nice summer weekends. read more

We had an amazing time here. We went on one of the yellow trails to take the Whitehorse Ledge Loop. AllTrails says this is moderate and alltrails is a group of liars! It's hard and we did it in about 3 hours with three kids aged 11 to 5. We went to the left at the loop and I'm glad I did because coming down it was straight down. So it would have been straight up. But the reward was the top where you could see forever and we were above the clouds! It's a day the family will always remember. read more

Such an amazing place for a lake! The view is incredible. They also have trails to follow. I believe their is a capacity to get in because we had to wait until the gate ranger said it was ok.... While spending 4th of July in North Conway we decided to spend a bit of time hiking near Echo Lake. We ended up making our way up to Cathedral Ledge which had a ton of incredible scenery. The other plus was being able to watch some climber scaling the ledge. We didn't have the chance to actually swim at Echo Lake but rest assured that the next time we visit the area it will be on our agenda since it looked clean and relaxing. P.S. if you are not a hiker, no problem. You can drive to Cathedral Ledge and park at the base of the viewing area. read more

Echo Lake State Park in Conway is an awesome park that has really good trails and a great lake to enjoy. The park is really convenient and too far away from Conway and is easy to get to and in and out of. There is plenty of parking available at the park and you are very close to the lake from the parking lot. The lake is awesome and fun to play in or just sit by and be close to it. There are plenty of picnic tables nearby and other places to sit around. The entire park is very clean and well maintained and also it is very visitor friendly with a lot of cool features that make the park very fun and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my time visiting this park and had a really good time that I will remember. read more

I've been coming to Echo Lake State Park for decades. It's a great place to spend the day swimming, enjoying the sun, shade, and possibly even a cookout/bbq as they have plenty of tables and grills for use. It's only $4 per person and that gives all day entry, so you can leave and come back if you want. A season pass is only $60 (per person) or Family season pass for $105/120 depending on the type. See the NH Parks website for those details. Back to the park/lake. It's wonderful! There are NO developments on the lake, so it's just you. There are homes and the White Mountain Hotel/Resort around it, and they have access as well, but there are no boating ramps, so it's just for swimming. There really is an echo off the White Horse Ledge, which rises up some 700 feet above the lake. Cathedral Ledge is also nearby and both are frequented by climbers. Plenty of room to enjoy the beach, sand, sun. Lots of trails surrounding the lake as well. I can't wait for my next visit! read more

I came here on 8/26/2016 and it was just beautiful! It's very clean and the water is not too cold... I immediately fell in love with the view... It wasn't too packed for a hot summer day... There were families and some people had their grills going... There were actually picnic tables so it did not surprise me to see people actually cooking out! Those mountain views made this place even more peaceful than it already was! I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere... The only problem I did have was the $4 per person fee to enter the lake... Ok I'm not sure why this place has a five star rating .... My wife and I love NH, love all the lakes and rivers there are to explore but this one was not worth the time and we literally walked in spent 15 min there and walked out. It was 3pm, yet still wicked crowded. I'm not even joking when I say there were 10000 tadpoles in the water to the degree that you could barely afford to not step on them, they don't swim away they just hang around your feet it's disgusting. The water was warm and cloudy, even after going out deep. With all the kids there and with it being such a small pond it just felt like you were swimming in pee. Pee and tadpoles. Needless to say we left and parked down the street at this river we had seen people swimming at before. Literally the only reason why this place deserves one star is because the view is very nice with some old pine trees for shade. read more

The woods themselves were just as you'd expect on a cool November morning so there's nothing more to say about that. The thing that blew my mind away beyond anything I've seen around my local parks was Cathedral Ledge. The views were gorgeous! I was not expecting to see such breathtaking views but boy was it a surprise when you get up there. At the top there's an area where there was a fence that goes around the sides that lets you experience an 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape. I was fortunate enough to come here when there was clear skies so I was extremely lucky. Also the place was super spotless which was also a huge plus. read more
