I've had a lot of questions (and requests) while coordinating the logistics of my move being out of state, and everything has been handled with care, compassion and professionalism. As I continue my search and have more time, I'd definitely love to come back and tour a new unit along with the amenities that The Milton has to offer (I didn't get to tour the lounge, gym, etc). I noticed a few negative comments here, but it's pretty clear they come from the same few people with personal issues. My experience was the opposite. I went on a tour and although the surrounding area offers a lot in terms of restaurants and…read moreshopping needs, I felt the 1 bedroom I toured was too small for the amount of rent, I'm not a fan of off white carpeting, not enough closet space, the apartments looked like they were built on a parking lot. My view in the morning of the particular unit that would be available was just that- overlooking the parking lot. It also appeared that there was a lack of diversity in both culture and ages. But that could had been the timing of my tour. On the plus side, they do offer community events for tenants to mingle. That I thought was a big plus. And the large windows in the living room were appealing. But I decided , I needed something larger and more eye appealing with a diversity of tenants of all ages and backgrounds.

We lived at the forest apartments for 5 years with our dog and we really loved our time there…read more Location: The location was great--I was able to bike to the metro (about 2.5 miles away) and surrounding areas. There's a Safeway down the road and a lot of other really great places to eat nearby. There's a nice neighborhood and a few schools right next door, along with walking trails where a lot of people take their dogs. I always felt very safe. Community: Since there are only maybe 16 units per building, you end up getting to know your neighbors pretty well (shouts out to building E!!). The community is made up of mostly working-class families, so everyone kinda helps lookout for each other. There were some events hosted by management but we never really went since we don't have kids and most of them were more family friendly. Landscape: Walking the grounds, you can tell why it's called the "Forest" apartments. There are so many trees, I really felt like I was entering a forest-y haven every time I drove in. It was always a great welcome-home. The grounds are maintained regularly, with flowers and foliage being updated basically every season. Some tenants are careless and don't dispose of their trash properly or pick up after their pets, but the maintenance team does a good job of clearing the property almost daily. Pets: The community is very accommodating to pets and everyone is pretty aware of their dogs when they are walking. Since they are so accomodating and don't have breed restrictions, a lot of reactive dog owners end up here. This means most people are super aware when walking their dogs and are sure to maintain plenty of distance. It was great that everyone was so understanding and I loved seeing all the bully breeds that aren't allowed to stay in a lot of other places. They were all true sweethearts! Floorplans: The units were large with "open-concept" floorplans that allowed us to customize our space. The size of the apartments were larger than others for the same price, which is part of why they are so accommodating to pets. We didn't have any fancy upgrades, but it was clean and everything worked. Maintenance: While mostly clean, the buildings are pretty old so there are some quirks. Pests, mostly mice, were an issue on and off. Kinda understandable considering the foresty landscaping and our building was right next to the dog park. For us, it was just something we needed to manage by keeping the place clean, looking out for entry holes, and keeping our food safely stored (we did have some experiences of mice getting into our bread, so we started storing it in air-tight containers). Management also schedules seasonal pest control for the whole property. Another thing to keep in mind is the ventilation in the bathrooms. The bathroom vent fans don't work that well, so we and a couple of our neighbors ended up with mildew on the bathroom ceiling. We were able to reduce it by running the fan during showers and leaving the doors open after to let the steam out. We even started squeegeeing the shower walls and tub after showers to reduce moisture even more, a habit we have since brought to our new place. Remember to turn the fans back off after a bit so they don't get worn out. The maintenance team was very responsive when we alerted them about pests, a/c, and appliance issues. I always used the online form to request maintenance and they were usually resolved within a week. I really liked the maintenance team but I did hear from some neighbors that they werent as responsive. Something I think they could work on is following up a day or so after service to make sure the problems were resolved. Like, actually call or visit the tenant cause not everyone responds to those automatic survey emails! Parking: Every unit has one assigned parking spot. Despite what some other reviews may indicate, there are a good deal of open and visitor spots as well. I think most of the people who have issues with the parking probably work odd hours or own several cars. When my husband and I had separate cars, we were just sure to save the assigned spot for whoever got in latest so they didn't have to search for a spot at night when most people would be home. It wasn't hard to accommodate. If parking is truly full, there's a nice neighborhood next door with street parking. Listen--I have a thing about people's reliance on cars. Having to walk five minutes down the road because you got in after midnight is not the end of the world. If you are really uncomfortable, then just communicate with your roommates about leaving the assigned spot open. There are permits provided for the cars but the management team usually sends out alerts when towing is or isn't in effect (they would often suspend towing for holiday weekends). Amenities: Amenities like the pool, gym, and dog park are sub-par. Like they are there and (mostly) running, but nothing fancy. They could also use another grill or two by the pool! Overall loved it

DO NOT MOVE HERE!…read more Parking is a nightmare. Roughly 200 parking spots on the premises. Which 165 of them are reserved parking that you have to pay $100. . There is more reserved parking than open parking. Reserve spots cost $100 per month. Their advice is to park down the street. If not they will tow your car if you are parked where they don't want you to park. If your car gets towed they will tell you "You should have paid for the $100 or you wouldnt be in this situation." places you can't park are not properly labeled as they should be. Some are fire lanes that are not marketed as fire lanes. Their maintenance won't fix the issues and will mark the work order as complete when they never set foot inside your place. Then, if you have an issue with that, the management office will call you and anyone else on the call list to argue with you about how it's your fault. Don't try calling the office. They don't pick up and they don't return your messages. You will have to go into the office to get anything done. I've lived all over the world and this is the worst management I've ever had to deal with. DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Close to Metro, and it provides garage parking option if you have a car. Very friendly for guest parking as well. I love the convenience of this location. The management is nice, if something goes wrong, they come to fix it quickly. They are helpful to notify if you've got a package. Easy to get a guest parking permit. Make Rollins a clean nice environment for the tenants. The rent is increasing reasonable by inflation every year. I moved in when it had a promotion deal, and the rent increased about 2% each year. I would continue to live here as soon as the rent is stable. Cannot beat the price,convenience, and the layout... and the apartment is pretty new!! I don't know why people complain about the cheap furnishing, to me, as soon as it's clean, no bugs issue, and look nice, I'm happy with it. If you like nice furnishing, it comes with higher rent as well.

Parking is easy with or without a paid parking permit. And the location is about as good as it gets. I'm about to move out to begin a new stage in my love life but if it weren't for that, I'd probably just stay here forever lol especially since it's literally a 5-min walk to DMV Iron Gym, Trader Joe's, and Vitamin Shoppe.

Wow, no reviews? Ok…read morethen... The official name is Gallery at White Flint. I bought my top 16th floor unit back in 2005 when the building converted from apartments to condos. It was my first home as an owner. Everything had a high end feel to it. I became a member of the Social Committee, served in various capacities on the HOA, and still have lots of friends there. Over time, a lot of the owners have moved out as it really is not a good place to raise a family. The units are just too small to have little ones running around! The location is superb, about a 5 min walk to the White Flint Metro and across the street from a soon to be renovated shopping center with a LaMadeline, Starbucks, and CVS. About a 10 min walk gets you to the Montrose Crossing Center with a Barnes and Noble and a Target and Giant. Don't forget about the Harris Teeter within a 3 min walk down the hill! The only negative I've got is that as the head of the Social Committee fpr a few years, it was very VERY difficult to get the residents to help and participate. It was a constant battle to get anyone to life a finger to help run an event. (not the staff, but the residents) What is it, a sense of entitlement or something? I still own my unit there and with the ongoing expansion of the NRC, have had no problems finding renters. I've seen tenants ( I say tenants because I do not know if they were owners or renters) give the front desk and staff a lot of grief. HEY people, they are not your concierge! This isn't a hotel! I've never had any problems because I treated them with respect. If I were single or without kids, it is definitely a nice place to live!
