I'm visiting Calgary and friends who live here took me to dinner last night at the Glencoe Club. The restaurants is called Argyle kitchen, if I remember correctly. Many Calgary restaurants close on Mondays so the club turned out to be a great alternative. I have bad memories of mediocre food at clubs around the world. The don't seem to have enough business to keep creative chefs. The meal last night at Glencoe was excellent. One of my friends and I both had risotto with seafood. It was as good as any risotto I've eaten outside of Italy. The other friend had perfectly grilled salmon. It looked yummy. He ate every bite. The three of us split two desserts. Both were great. The service was very good. While the room was full, but the tables had enough that we could catch up with each other after 25 years. Everyone at Glencoe from the receptionist to the other patrons was very both friendly and helpful. read more

We have hosted many events in the Ballroom and have found everything from the room, staff and food to be well above average. We are given a fixed price for the room which holds a large group, includes audio visual and per-personfood. In one case, our the per person cost didn't go over room fee and we were credited back with goods. I book many events across the country and this one is the most reasonable venues ever...also it is so beautiful. They have so many choices in high quality food, and delicious coffee. The staff is amazing too with being available for thing like last minute printing and even supplying name tags. Everything is professional and follows my banquet event order perfectly. Lastly, the acoustics are great and our and the having 3 screens available gives us lots of visual options. read more

Please understand this is a elite club , members get one kind of treatment & non members get yet another . I realized this after few visits . This physiotherapy location is having Gymnasium or rehabilitation centre how ever unlike other Physiotherapy locations or franchise , Glencoe physiotherapy does not allow , non members to learn / treat / rehabilitate on their premises of the physiotherapy centre. their physiotherapists are certified professionals they will teach the patient exercises , but patients can not practice those exercises under their supervision in their gym/ rehab centre for the simple reason that its not in use for non members . non members are charged more for physiotherapy than the members how ever a lower level of treatment is received by non members . Thus this is highly not recommended for non members as we pay more and get a lower level service in return . In any other physiotherapy provider location , usually it is equipped with tools , machines , excersices area for teaching and practising during treatment . this service is NOT AVAILABLE FOR NON MEMBERS HERE . thus its a loose loose situation for non members . I was in such a terrible situation that required physiotherapy treatment , but this therapist just absolutely denied to teach me anything as their was just no space to stretch on the floor . these are small things that matter much especially when one pays premium amount . The downtown Glencoe Club is only useful if you were raised playing tennis, figure skating or live close by. They shut down the gym for a couple of years for renovations and when it reopened there was an additional studio for paid classes, but the gym equipment was pushed together really tight and is so crowded it is impractical. Not really what you would expect from a high end club. Then they renovated the outdoor pool. They made a big patio and added a kids water slide. Now the pool is so cluttered that there is limited room for members and now they have an hours long wait list to get into the outdoor pool. It looks nice but the Glencoe Club is a lot of window dressing and offers little substance. It is a club where you feel that the members are an inconvenience. read more

This is a very bad venue for any event. You get one price then things are added on. You are help like a prisoner once you sign up. Your event will have "add ons" they will not stand by any quotes. Facilities are managed in a military style. Do things our way or you may leave. If you like a relaxed environment, this place is not good. read more

This is more of a judgement of their event services, as that is all I have experienced. I recently attended a community business event here in the ballroom. The pictures on their website really done do the space justice. The room was lovely...large but it had a warm, cozy feel to it. To get to the ballroom you have to go up this beautiful curving staircase to the second level which also made the venue seem special (they probably have an elevator for people who need it but I am not sure). The food was very tasty. At this event we just had appetizer type foods. The presentation of the platters was lovely with really high quality ingredients that made even the simplest veggie tray seem more special. My favourite was little roast beef/steak strips with a variety of dipping mustards and sauces. The pieces were slightly too large to eat without a knife and fork though which made it tricky in a cocktail party environment. But the end taste was worth the effort. The servers were quick to clear plates and glasses from tables and did so in a very professional manner (as to not interrupt conversations, get in the way etc). Oh and the bathrooms. So. Nice. I am a sucker for a nice bathroom ad these not only are spotless, but swanky too. Lots of space, high ceilings, nice soap and paper towels... My only two concerns are as follows. The acoustics of the room made our one brief speech period hard to hear unless everyone stopped talking, even with the speaker using a microphone. The other issue was parking. There just wasn't enough to accommodate regular club members and this event. Many guests ended up on nearby side streets (the neighbours must hate the club sometimes) and I know a few people I talked to were worried they might get tickets or be towed. I don't think anyone was but it was a cause for concern. This is a nice venue to hold an event, weather it be a wedding or a business event. You likely need to be a member to book the space but if you are, it will likely be a success, based on what i saw. read more

The club is a wonderful place to raise your kids, childcare is included, pool and so many fun activities for the kids to do even during covid times. We go bowling as a family and kids swim and waterslide all summer. It's a place to see your friends, especially since as adults with young children, we don't get much time to be social. The pub is awesome to have! read more

Everyone seems to know about the Glencoe. Its got a pricetag associated with gym membership that draws attention anyways. A number of months ago I decided to give physiotherapy a shot for a twisted ankle. The assessment seemed thorough enough, however treatment only included a couple minutes of manual therapy. The rest was filled with machines (never found them effective for me), and sent home with 3 exercises. Would I recommend this clinic? For convenience sake if you live in the area, yes. For complex problems - probably not. read more

Best gym, pool, squash, curling and sun deck in the city - hands down. Anyone who has written a poor review is not a member. By far the best club in the city. read more

I've been here as a guest 4 times and It's very nice inside and out but the staff are ok but stuck up also to become a member its super Pricey gee's The pools are good for the summer!! its A - Ok I must say. The Glencoe Golf and Country club its alright as well the golf there is up to Par. I just feel its to judgmental at both places of how people stare at you some times. Maybe its just me but Ive had that a couple of times when I went. The facility is cool if your that kind of person that has that kind of money and some that are stuck up. There is better cheaper places to go for Recreational uses around town! read more
