True story: when I was planning…read moreon moving back to Nashville after [redacted[ years away, pulling in to the Hill Center shopping area made me want to move back to Green Hills -- despite the traffic pitfalls of the neighborhood.* Everything was so new, nice and pretty. Even though this was a new construction, it made sense for Green Hills and fit so perfectly. And even though the majority of the residents were chains (I'm guessing you need big money to afford this kind of rent), the stores were all appropriately suited for the area and all fit in to the complex. I'm not much of a shopper, but the Hill Center has sucked me in to buy furniture, food, clothes, gifts, and groceries. I'm surprised by how often I find myself here -- especially given that I don't live that close to the complex. I'm telling you: that's the power of pretty. After spending some time in Brentwood and marveling at the Hill complex there, I'm convinced that the Hill folks have the aspirational-yet-accessible aesthetic down to a science. *Some of the worst, most distracted drivers in the 615.

Retail stores, restaurants, hair and nail salon and phone repairs. A lot of parking spaces for the extra busy days, though we haven't seen those since 2019, unfortunately. The one thing I strongly dislike is the main road through the property is littered with potholes. Not little ones, big potholes. You may need to kick your truck or jeep into 4 wheel drive to get through. The last time I drove on a road so treacherous was when I was offroading through the high deserts of California. :) I hope one day they can fix the road.

I will say that the mall was clean, well lit, and there's a ton to do here for the whole family. It's not just your typical mall, this is almost like an entertainment resort. Because Opry Mills is full of entertainment and is touristy, this place can get very busy on weekends or when there's a show at the Grand Ole Opry, so it's best to visit during the week. Sure, there is plenty of parking, but again, if you're going when it's busy, good luck finding a spot. I'd like to come back another time and truly explore this mall, but I really only am here for the 4DX theater.

Opry Mills combines shopping, dining, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. I LOVE that this mall is indoors. I feel like outdoor malls are the trend in the South, and I hate how on a rainy or cold day (yes, it gets cold), you have to brave the elements to go from store to store. Not here. Some of the stores here are outlets, and some are regular mall stores. I saw plenty of sales, and the selection in the stores was generally good. I shopped at the LOFT outlet and found a larger selection than other LOFT outlets I've been in. The Kate Spade outlet also had a good selection, although I didn't buy anything there (I love their products). The food court is excellent with both chain options as well as some spots that seem to be more local to Nashville. I opted for Panda Express, and it was just like every other Panda Express, but sometimes that's what you want in a food order meal. I wish my hometown had a mall like Opry Mills- all of ours are outdoor or have a lot of vacancies. If you're visiting Nashville or staying at the Opryland Hotel, definitely come to the mall for a fun afternoon.

There's an open artificial grass area for guests to rest. There's also a small children play area right next to it. There's a lot of parking lots all over. Restrooms are available at every short interaction, very convenient for guests. There are few restaurants here including Shake Shack. But all the shops we went inside were so small. Even big brands like MK, Coach, American Eagle, Swarovski, Adidas, Nike all of them have such small stores. I have never seen been to any outlet with such tiny stores with limited products. But there were good deals on prices and discounts, some places up to 60%. Many of store spaces were also empty and doors were covered with brown paper. We salvaged our trip at Express, we found couple of items we liked that were on sale.

Fifth Plus Broadway is a mixed use development that has revigerated Broadway west of Rep. John…read moreLewis Way. What had prior to 2021 been the abandoned Nashville Convention Center is now a modern mixed use development that has brought life into Broadway west of the "Honkey Tonk Highway" stretch. It features a shopping mall, Assembly Food Hall, a retail scape fronting Broadway, The Place at Fifth, the National Museum of African American Music, and the towering landmark 501 Commerce Street Building. It has brought an Apple Store, Sephora, Shake Shack, Hattie B's, Prince's Chicken, and more to Broadway. On my vacation, I had caught it's act several times. The one sight that always stood out was the consistent long line to Hattie B's. My visits here included Assembly Food Hall, Prince's Fried Chicken, the Twelve Thirty Club, visit the Apple Store, and walk around. My impression was that the stores and restaurants are reasonably priced. Although the restaurants and stores provide decent value, to me the greatest value here was the photo opportunities. The focal point of the development, the L-shaped mall which bridges Broadway with Rep. John Lewis Way gives the gift of a prime photo spot for the 1) Ryman Auditorium where the original Grand Ol Opry performed and 2) Bridgestone Arena. The restaurants, especially in the Assembly Hall provide an opportunity to photograph food. I recommend the Assembly Food Hall Bridge to photograp the historic Ryman Auditorium. Additionally , I learned that if I stood on Broadway by the Bridgestone Arena, that Fifth Plus Broadway made a dynamic photo showing modern and historic Broadway, with the modern Fifth Plus Broadway architecture including towers contrasting with the historic Honkey Tonk Highway streetscape. As far as safety, I felt safe. The one annoyance that I saw were street hustlers at the Rep. John Lewis Way entrance aggressively bothering passer-by. During all of my visits here it was busy. There is a safety in numbers. On the subject of safety, the hot and humid summers need to be taken into account. On a few occasions we had escaped the excruciating heat in the air conditioned Assembly Food Hall for a couple of hours. I rate Fifth Plus Broadway "Four Stars." It is doing a remarkable job extending the lively Broadway restaurant and entertainment scene beyond the western edge of the Honkey Tonk Highway.

I am a walker and don't mind getting my happy ass up and down but these stores are just SO spread out it makes it rather difficult if you are carrying bags or its cold/rainy outside. They offer some really great discount stores that are near and dear to my heart like Michaels, TJ Maxx, Ross, etc. They also have a movie theater, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc within very short driving distance. Parking can be slightly crowded, but it's typically not horrible. This mall is a good stop in for a couple things (that are cheap) kind of place, but I wouldn't recommend it for heavy duty shopping.
