Even though this was a new construction, it made sense for Green Hills and fit so perfectly. And even though the majority of the residents were chains (I'm guessing you need big money to afford this kind of rent), the stores were all appropriately suited for the area and all fit in to the complex. I'm not much of a shopper, but the Hill Center has sucked me in to buy furniture, food, clothes, gifts, and groceries. I'm surprised by how often I find myself here -- especially given that I don't live that close to the complex. I'm telling you: that's the power of pretty. After spending some time in Brentwood and marveling at the Hill complex there, I'm convinced that the Hill folks have the aspirational-yet-accessible aesthetic down to a science. *Some of the worst, most distracted drivers in the 615.

I also want to check out the bowling alley over there, I haven't been there yet...can't wait to try it out.. As for the mall, there are some great post-Christmas sales to be had right now. There was a huge variety of stores from furniture to clothes to housewares. What I appreciated most was how easy everything was. Parking was plentiful and free, access from the freeway was straightforward, and despite its size, I never felt overwhelmed. The indoor layout makes it a perfect destination when Nashville's summer heat or a rainy day changes your plans. The variety is impressive. Whether you're hunting for bargains at Coach, Michael Kors, Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike Factory Store, Saks OFF 5TH, or dozens of other retailers, there's something for just about everyone. If shopping isn't your thing, there are plenty of dining options ranging from quick bites to sit-down restaurants, plus entertainment like Regal Cinemas, Dave & Buster's, and the massive Bass Pro Shops. Its location next to the iconic Gaylord Opryland Resort and the Grand Ole Opry makes it an easy addition to any Nashville itinerary. Even if you're in town primarily for music, this is a worthwhile stop for a few hours. If I had one suggestion, it would be to wear comfortable walking shoes. No customer should ever leave a store feeling embarrassed or judged because of their body. Shopping is supposed to be a positive experience, and instead I left feeling hurt and uncomfortable. I hope management takes this seriously and speaks with their employees about treating every customer with kindness, respect, and professionalism. I won't be returning until I know customers are treated better.

What had prior to 2021 been the abandoned Nashville Convention Center is now a modern mixed use development that has brought life into Broadway west of the "Honkey Tonk Highway" stretch. It features a shopping mall, Assembly Food Hall, a retail scape fronting Broadway, The Place at Fifth, the National Museum of African American Music, and the towering landmark 501 Commerce Street Building. It has brought an Apple Store, Sephora, Shake Shack, Hattie B's, Prince's Chicken, and more to Broadway. On my vacation, I had caught it's act several times. The one sight that always stood out was the consistent long line to Hattie B's. My visits here included Assembly Food Hall, Prince's Fried Chicken, the Twelve Thirty Club, visit the Apple Store, and walk around. My impression was that the stores and restaurants are reasonably priced. Although the restaurants and stores provide decent value, to me the greatest value here was the photo opportunities. The focal point of the development, the L-shaped mall which bridges Broadway with Rep. John Lewis Way gives the gift of a prime photo spot for the 1) Ryman Auditorium where the original Grand Ol Opry performed and 2) Bridgestone Arena. The restaurants, especially in the Assembly Hall provide an opportunity to photograph food. I recommend the Assembly Food Hall Bridge to photograp the historic Ryman Auditorium. Additionally , I learned that if I stood on Broadway by the Bridgestone Arena, that Fifth Plus Broadway made a dynamic photo showing modern and historic Broadway, with the modern Fifth Plus Broadway architecture including towers contrasting with the historic Honkey Tonk Highway streetscape. As far as safety, I felt safe. The one annoyance that I saw were street hustlers at the Rep. John Lewis Way entrance aggressively bothering passer-by. During all of my visits here it was busy. There is a safety in numbers. On the subject of safety, the hot and humid summers need to be taken into account. On a few occasions we had escaped the excruciating heat in the air conditioned Assembly Food Hall for a couple of hours. I rate Fifth Plus Broadway "Four Stars." It is doing a remarkable job extending the lively Broadway restaurant and entertainment scene beyond the western edge of the Honkey Tonk Highway.

I am a walker and don't mind getting my happy ass up and down but these stores are just SO spread out it makes it rather difficult if you are carrying bags or its cold/rainy outside. They offer some really great discount stores that are near and dear to my heart like Michaels, TJ Maxx, Ross, etc. They also have a movie theater, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc within very short driving distance. Parking can be slightly crowded, but it's typically not horrible. This mall is a good stop in for a couple things (that are cheap) kind of place, but I wouldn't recommend it for heavy duty shopping.

Most (if not all?) of the businesses housed within are local. The boutiques have great products, and I am a huge bubble tea fan so Fat Straw is a great treat for me (just remember it's cash only!). The tall building, as Declan mentioned, is a renovated industrial space. They kept just enough of the rough edges while redecorating to keep it interesting and unique. If you interested in passing time some afternoon, Edgehill Village is definitely a good place to do it.
