I have annoying and chronic neck and lower back pain, so I am always looking to try new massage places that can help alleviate my problems. I have been using another place in a nearby city, but all they offer there is deep tissue massage. I was very curious (and a little bit desperate) to try Thai massage, hoping that would correct my pain problems with new techniques like stepping on my back, and stretching my limps out, you know, the stuff you see in popular media. Prior to actually getting the massage, my expectations were quite high since the reviews are practically glowing on Yelp. All the stars in the ratings, and all the kind words from other customers, I had high hopes that they could work their magic on me. I made an appointment in the morning, and the staff was very nice and ready to go. I was led to a semi-private room, which had a door, but no wall to the customer next door over. The two "rooms" were simply divided by a curtain. Being a guy, and I was allowed to wear my boxers the entire time, I didn't find that to be a problem. To other customers, though, this could be a small issue? (Just communicate with the staff members if it is.) The massage bed that I lied down on was very relaxing, even more so than my regular place. The hole designed for you to put your face downwards was heavily padded and had towels covering the edges all around. Whereas at times I would feel my face's being numb at my other massage parlor, this location gave my face nothing but softness and comfort. Kathy (or Cathy?) was my assigned masseur, and she was polite and attentive. She asked me if this was my first time getting a Thai massage, and asked for my consent if stepping on my back was okay. This was very professional and nice of her because some customers might not want that. For me, I want everything. Just get in there and work out my knots, please! To my surprise, however, a Thai massage and a deep tissue massage did not differ all that much. I told Kathy to focus on my neck and shoulders area, and my lower back, but I didn't really think the request mattered all that much. In my experience with all massage places really, the masseur would ask you, but the overall massage would not differ all that much. Anyhow, a Thai massage only included a very brief duration of stepping on my back, and a couple of stretching exercises here and there. I kind of wish it included more of that stretching, and maybe I would be more vocal about this at my next visit. I do want to emphasize that I am grateful for Kathy's being careful with all these special techniques. The massage included a brief session of hot stone massage, which was nice, because I always felt that heat really helped relax my muscles. Moreover, the hotness from the stones was particularly needed during this session, because it was cold! (That is, I was half naked and the temperature of the room was a bit too cold.) I was actually almost shivering when I first arrived and took off my shirt. At times (during the massage) when she padded me down with a moist warm towel, it could actually make my skin even colder after the towel's removal. I was kind of shy to inquire about the room temperature, but hopefully they'd read this review and adjust accordingly... Overall, the massage wasn't bad, and I am guessing Kathy was being gentle with me because she was afraid to hurt me? Lol. I did have expressions of uneasiness on my face at times because I was very inflexible, but I actually felt she could've applied more pressure at my shoulder areas. Though it didn't quite reach my expectation of magical healing hands, it was a decent service. I would put this location on rotation along with other massage parlors that had helped me in the past. Lastly, the massage was $45 plus tips for 1 hour, but I was pretty sure I got an extra 5 minutes or so. Currently, I am in the middle of writing my thesis and have spent the past few weeks sitting for hours hunched over my laptop. I was feeling the pain today. I needed a walk-in appointment ASAP. Luckily, Glendora Thai Massage was able to accomadate my last minute booking. I walked in and was placed in a room immediately. Now let me just saym I usually leave other massages with about 50% improvement in my pain level and range of motion. Well, not after leaving this place. This is a very deep tissue massage and released all of the knots and aches I previously had. I was stepped on, flipped around and twisted in a "hurts so good" kind of way. TL;DR: Cheap and extremely effective (but not so quiet/relaxing) massage therapy. I really dig this place! I have terrible chronic tightness all over my body and so I needed a place that would get deep into my problematic areas. I had never had a Thai massage before and tbh, I don't know what makes a Thai massage a Thai massage, other than the standing on my back thing. This place delivers! I have now been to this place 4 times and I have yet to be disappointed. I have had 2 different ladies massage me and both were very good. My massage experiences are always very painful, due to my condition, but I know that these ladies can feel my pain (literally). As some others may have mentioned, they use hot stones (!!!) during the massage. It is a bit of a surprise at times because some times they ask, sometimes they don't. I don't mind it at all. It is sort of painful (because of the heat) but they quickly move the rocks around. I think it really helps loosen up my tight spots. At the end of the massage, they stretch you out and crack you a bit, which I think is great. About the walking on the back thing: I used to be scared of it but not anymore. Their body weight allows them to get deeper into my knots. They are very careful, too. Pricing is great! $45/hr+tip is so worth it, imo! I believe 90 mins is $65, but not sure. I always get 1hr. The experience: I can't say it's "relaxing", per se. This is not a place you come to relax, but rather, to be deeply treated. That being said, I don't think you'd like this place if you are expecting some sort of quiet, spa-esque experience. I certainly do feel relaxed AFTER the massage, though. The actual location inside: it is neither super nice nor ugly. It is simply ok. Again, I am there for therapy, not to admire the looks of the joint. IMPORTANT: This place is not exactly quiet (it can be, though). Sometimes the therapists leave your massage to answer the phone or you will hear other clients come in to the other rooms, conversations with the therapists/other clients, etc. This does not bother me too much, as I am going there for therapy, not to relax and go to sleep. Overall, this place is great. There are a few cons, but they aren't big enough (for me) to not give them 5 stars. read more

Bad bad experience and it was my first time here. I am frustrated about my experience as I had planned my whole day around this massage. I called last Thursday to make an appointment for this Saturday at 6 pm. Saturday night comes along and I arrive for my appointment and was told by the Thai lady at the front desk that they couldn't accommodate me because they cancelled my appointment. They cancelled my appointment because supposedly they had called earlier in the morning and had reached a wrong number. The number they had on file for me was nowhere near what my number is. They canceled my appointment because of this. I explained that this was not my phone number and they shouldn't have canceled my appointment because of this. The Thai lady in the front was insinuating that I had called the wrong massage place but I insisted that this was not the case as I had saved the information on my phone after I had made the appointment. Dedicating my 100th Yelp review to this business because my experience here just shows how important it is to not be afraid to follow up with people. I was driving out to Covina for a meeting and wanted to squeeze in some time for a massage in the area as I was feeling super exhausted, stressed and tensed from my HIIT workouts and other things that have been bothering me. I went on Yelp and called 3, 4 different businesses and got no answer. Frustrated, I was about to give up my search but suddenly, someone from Glendora Thai Massage calls me back and was willing to book me at the time that I want to come in. The place has two rooms and is located in a small plaza next to the bigger plaza where VONS and CVS is on Foothill Blvd and Grand. I typically go for 1 hour massages (I'm the type of person who can't sit still for a really long time lol) but decided to go for a 90 minute massage instead as I thought the lady said it's $55 over the phone (turns out it's actually $65... oopsies but still not bad). Despite the miscommunication on my end, I was incredibly happy with this decision. I've gotten Thai massages in LA and in Thailand (of course) before but have to say that this was one of the better Thai massages I've gotten. Winnie was my masseuse and was super attentive. My neck and shoulders tend to always tense up and she did a really good job focusing those areas with Tiger Balm. There were quite a few things that impressed me about this place. The first thing that impressed me about this place were how the beds were really nice and aren't on the floor (most Thai massage places I've gone to LA have their beds on the floor and I just sometimes feel a little grossed out by that). Second, would be the service. Winnie always asked if the pressure was okay and made sure that I felt comfortable. Finally, she busted out hot stones in the middle of the massage (like WHAT?!). I have extreme tension in my neck, shoulders, lower back, and in the front and rear hip area from long hours of sitting at a work desk, professional drumming and all with poor posture overall unfortunately. All mentioned areas are especially tight on my right side. She asked what areas I had trouble with. I mentioned everything above and she responded by saying, "I'll do my best to help". And she did. I have 3 narrowing discs on my lower back and went through many Acupuncturist and Chiropractic for over 15 years spending thousands of dollars and still in pain! This Wednesday I was desperately to seek some relief for my lower back pain, so I decided to tried new Acupuncture near me, he was a young doctor did 6 needles on me, the very next day I was in so much more pain and plus pinched nerves I couldn't even bend down to changed my clothes, I went back to the doctor 2 days later and he tried to make my pain and stiffness go away, two more needles and I was still in a lot of pain! The very same day I went to Joints Chiropractic in La Verne. The doctor was very nice, but she couldn't make my stiffness go away or fixed me....Saturday I had enough with my back pain so I went to Yelp searching for good massage place near me and this one has more good reviews at Glendora Thai Massage, this is the first time I ever tried Thai Massage and I have to tell you Winnie was very nice and gentle, with the hot stones and 1.5 hours of massage is $60 for the first time visit is worth every penny! I have a regular place I go to for Swedish massages. But I have been incorporating much more weight lifting into my exercise regiment and some times need that extra oomph that Thai massage is so good at-- also, some times the availability of my Swedish spot isn't conducive to my last minute personality!! Enter Glendora Thai massage. I'm a total wimp, so it is probably like a vacation for my therapists when I come in ;-D but I do feel like a wet noodle at the end of an hour and that is kind of the point. The therapists here DO listen to what you say you need and check regularly to make sure the pressure is right. April or Winnie are my go-to therapists though I haven't had Kathy and read nothing but glowing reviews about her! I read some folks on here complaining about the ambience and lack of privacy. I don't mind this (unless there are more than a few interruptions during the massage-- which hasn't happened for me). Also, I think it is a cultural thing. Being Chinese makes me a bit more accepting of non-westernized spa conditions. (Lol!) And at the end of the day, the price you are paying for the quality of service cannot be beat! read more

Once I tried this place I didn't look back. I tend to get knots in my shoulder blade after heavy computer usage (I do IT work) that effects my shoulder, neck, and arm. The specialists here can feel for them and get them right out. Each time I leave completely relaxed with an almost euphoric feel. I just opened a consulting office nearby so I suspect I will be frequenting this establishment much more often! All the staff here do a tremendous job and they always ask if you have any problem areas. Get the 90 minute if you are very tense. 60 minutes isn't enough time to do yourself justice. Wow! Amazing. 5 stars from both my husband and I. We both feel amazing and it was soo difficult to go to work afterwards, I haven't felt this relaxed and 'loose' in a long time. I'm pregnant so my massage wasn't typical Thai style (no feet), but it was amazing (I've never had a Thai massage). I feel like I saw a chiropractor and massage therapist at the same time. Everything was stretched and cracked and amazing. Also I LOVED the hot stones! And the creams/oils that were used were so therapeutic. My husband is never happy with massages (we've lived in many countries and been all over the U.S. and he's only ever loved one masseuse - she's in Benin, West Africa). He was raving afterwards about how strong she was, and such a professional and how the massage is going to help his workout so much etc etc etc. he's a bodybuilder and does multiple types of martial arts, so this is pretty big for him. I didn't get names, but it's a mom and daughter team and they're very sweet and professional. 60 minute massages are $45. Great price! The only negative comment I have is that there's a sign at the counter that says please tip and has a sad face next to $10, a normal face next to $15 and a smile next to $20 and so on. I think a $15 tip is very good for a one hour massage! So we felt slightly awkward about our $15 tips (each), but that's what we planned on paying. read more

I had the opportunity recently to try this little jewel in Glendora on Foothill near Glendora Blvd. It is situated in a stripmall of sorts with a Thai restaurant, beauty salon and nail shop. The building's owner made the building a trifecta with the addition of Sherry and the massage salon. There's only one treatment room at present, but 3 tables and usually no waiting. Sherry herself is the star of the show, with a sweet smile and a grip that assures you that you are in good hands. She goes about her "routine" (and I use the term loosely) with such confidence and persistence, its best to just be quiet and enjoy the ride. If you ever experience too much pressure or discomfort, just tell her, but chances are she's already sensed it and moved through it to the next task. I can't say enough about her technique(s) and positive energy and intention. Like most of the great massages I've received (Thai in particular), it's the seasoned veterans that seem to really shine.
