I was recommended to see Dr.Goicochea by my OBGYN. She found a nodule on the left side of my…read moreThyroid. First of in his office there are a lot of "Best of..." plaques. Obviously he is very good and has many years of experience. He did an Ultrasound and two biopsies to decide for the best procedure. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything with patience the entire time. It is hard to understand all these medical terms but he had patience and made me feel as comfortable as I could feel. The first biopsy was pretty painless and over fast. The second one needed more specimen for a special DNA test and was a bit more uncomfortable but still totally fine. After results came back 60% probability for cancer he suggested to get only half of the thyroid removed. He also gave me the option to remove the whole thing because a lot of people choose that for peace of mind. I chose to remove half. My procedure was done at the Massachusetts Ave Surgery Center On surgery day he came to talk to me before the procedure. Explaining what's going to happen. He is so calm and professional it makes you feel better. Surgery went great. I woke up sore to swallow but ok. The first 3 days of recovery were sore and than pretty good after that. So I'd recommend to take 3-4 days off of work. The incision is healing up nice after a week and a half. It looks like the incision is going to be pretty nice and clean. I got stitches from this inside so no stitches scars to come. Yay Thank you Dr.Goicochea for taking care of me. I will recommend him to anyone that has to deal with Thyroid issues

After results came back, we scheduled surgery within 2 weeks and I was TERRIFIED however many of the nurses at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital let me know they have never seen incisions as clean and virtually unnoticeable as his. The surgery went very well, lasted about 3 hours (I was slightly a special case) I barely had a sore throat and resumed normal life the day after. His bedside manner is awesome and he definitely put me at ease as this was my first surgery. He has also worked on close family friends of mine and they all say the same of Dr. Goicochea! Highly trained, knowledgeable and professional.

I have always seen responsive, respectful and knowledgeable staff. They treat the patients with respect and affection. Barbara, Edward, Bert, Angeli, Jay, Darlene, Mary, Elizabeth, Beatriz, Mimi, Paule! These names stand out! Amazing at what they do! Dana at Social work and Kelly. Martin and Chatna at PT. Lauren, at OT. Jan at the front desk. We have been well taken care of! I cannot express my gratitude enough. When we arrived , my mom was under the effects of all the narcotics she was given at the hospital. They were all so patient and understanding. It's a great place for rehabilitation! Only service that was less to be desired was the hairdresser. She ignored the sign up sheet and told us she was too busy. My mom had been waiting for her appt. for days to find out she had bumped for her patients that are her "regulars". We were told to sign up again for a later date. I took my mom out for a haircut the next day.

While the physical and occupational therapy teams met expectations, every other aspect of her stay fell short of professional standards. The facility lacks clear protocols or any sense of a standard schedule. Our arrival set the tone for the entire stay. No one was available to meet the ambulance, and our family was forced to wander the halls just to find a staff member. Once she was settled, the lack of oversight became even more apparent. Because my mother has dementia and cannot advocate for herself, we remained by her side. We witnessed firsthand as call buttons went ignored. When we finally stepped into the hallway to find assistance, we were often told staff members were at lunch. It feels as though the staff does the bare minimum, especially when they believe no one is watching. Memory care should never be an excuse for providing less than adequate care, yet that is exactly what we witnessed. I am particularly frustrated by what felt like a "bait and switch." I toured the facility beforehand and was shown private rooms on the first floor which are in much better condition. The second floor, where my mother was placed, is a stark contrast--peeling wallpaper, broken furniture handles, and bathrooms that feel unclean. The clinical follow-through was equally poor. Despite having a nutritionist on staff, no one ever consulted us regarding my mother's dietary restrictions. We explicitly instructed the nursing staff not to give her sugary juices to avoid spiking her blood sugar. While they acknowledged the request, they failed to follow through, delivering orange juice with her breakfast the next morning. Had we not been there to intervene, her health would have been at risk. Furthermore, basic administrative tasks were handled poorly. The social worker was asked to order a wheelchair and ordered the wrong size. While I recognize that having family advocates present can add stress to a team, the staff showed no extra concern; if anything, they backed off, seemingly assuming we would handle her care ourselves. Everyone here seems to be passing the buck, ignoring patient health, safety, and comfort. These facilities are paid significant sums by Medicare and private insurance, yet Montcare is not delivering on its promise of quality care. We have moved my mother out of this facility to ensure her safety.

BEWARE: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, ENERGY OR MONEY!…read more Where do I start?! I bought a groupon for this place and have been trying hard to get my treatments done so I can be done with this place for good. I should have gotten a refund months ago, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since I had never had laser done before and I was so excited and eager to have it done. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. First problem: Staff is shoddy. Voicemails are NEVER returned and it is very very RARE that they even answer the phone. They can't hold down a receptionist and there is never a physician on site. Next, of my 5 appointments to date, EVERY SINGLE ONE has been rescheduled at least once, some twice and once 3 times. This is not an acceptable way to do business. Also, when they reschedule, its usually for weeks ahead., not close to your original date. Unacceptable. I am told they only have one laser in the office (and it is not maintained properly)... hence the fact that it overheated and SHUT OFF during my first treatment and I've had several reschedules due to the laser being "down" I am trying to get my last treatment in but now I'm being told the laser was damaged in the storm because it was left plugged in over the weekend and they don't know when it might be fixed. REALLY? I had my treatment scheduled for before my vacation so I could get it done and not have to worry about sun exposure. Well, guess what? My appt was rescheduled for a few days before I leave, and I get a call a few hours before my appt to reschedule again. I'm told it wont be fixed till after I leave for vacation, now I'm stuck and can't have this treatment till Fall. I'm told "there's nothing we can do". The one technician, Alicia, who only worked on weekends was the only saving grace to this place. Unfortunately, she told me at my last visit that she was resigning and leaving. I don't blame her at all. I wouldn't even want this place on my resume. Lastly, I'm not even sure the laser has been working properly all along. I have had 5 treatments and I only see a very little result. I know that even if I get the 6th treatment, it wont get rid of hair. I will have to invest (again) elsewhere to have the hair removed. I know everyone is different, but I know people who have only had 2 or 3 treatments and have seen better results than i'm seeing with 5. I have a hard time believing a business with this many bad business practices & poor quality is even still open. My opinion, it wont be for long. Once my treatment is done, I'll never go back. Ever.

I've been to Shady Grove Laser a few times now and I'm (almost) hair free! The staff is…read moreprofessional and accommodating. Dr. Behram is thorough and knows what he's doing. Hopefully I'll try out their other services soon!
