She is just the nicest, kindest person ever. Stacey, advised me to go to the urgent care center when I couldn't get in to see an orthopedic doctor before the weekend. She even helped me find a good one. Then, when an appointment opened up, she called me and booked the appointment for me at Ortho Bethesda. Stacey, you are an angel. I went to see Dr. Gazdag and he was wonderful. He was funny and an excellent professional. We took more X-rays, so if you see a light in Rockville, it is just me glowing at night. I am in a boot and a cane, but no surgery needed. Amen! The people who work with Dr. Gazdag and Ortho Bethesda were awesome. They were very nice and helpful. TLDR- I went here with the impression the OT would get my healed fractured wrist back to working again, but he did not and the professionalism and care seemed to exist for exactly one month of appointments- which doesn't seem like a timeline based on rehab/healing- but insurance or the bottom line. I could be wrong. But my wrist sure doesn't work, but I "graduated" in exactly a month. I've never had an injury like this before. I broke my wrist really badly. Or more specifically- I had a left distal radius fracture with associated distal ulna fracture, then ORIF surgery/ open reduction, internal fixation- so I have a plate in my wrist now. I'd already tried a physical therapy mill where you learn and do your own exercises independently, you even timed yourself- so Danny the OT here was a huge step up. He seemed like he genuinely cared about what he does and the patient's successful recovery. After the last experience I felt finally someone will help me get my hand and wrist back to working order. On our first appointment he scheduled us for the next month of appointments. And funny enough, I "graduated" on that last scheduled day. I had no idea it would be the last day until the end of the appointment. It was also the first time he had a student/intern or something shadow him- which I felt uncomfortable with. It is just a hand, but talking about your defects or the vulnerability of not being able to do very simple things- is not something I feel comfortable talking about in front of a person I never met. It felt very impersonal. And despite the joy they expressed at my "graduation"- from the OT, the intern, and the OT's assistant. They all congratulated me. Which felt confusing, because I can't open a medicine bottle. I can't clasp anything on my back. I can't really twist any cap. I walk my dog with a waist leash because I don't have the strength on dexterity in that hand to walk him anymore with my hands. But I graduated. I was told this as if it was cause for celebration but I just thought- no one's going to help me. I took the steps instead of the elevator as I left the office for privacy because I started crying. I cried walking down the stairwell. I felt just abandoned with my often painful weak wrist and severely limited ROM. I don't know how to fix my wrist on my own and no one seems to care enough to treat me until I have a working hand/wrist. He was obviously done assisting me but as I looked up certified hand therapists - the best ones are in his office. He was done assisting me, but why didn't he recommend his colleague? A CHT. So I can open medicine bottles, and honestly just clasp my bra in the back. Or really a hundred things that come up every day. I don't understand why he couldn't help me fix this. It seems so wrong to just not at least refer me to someone. Every metric that determines a successful wrist rehab is abominable for me. By the range of motion numbers, I desperately need OT or a certified hand specialist. I was still dropped without notice or a path to figuring out how to tie my shoes in one try. I felt just hopeless about it. Like he thought this was good enough. My trust and hope is near depleted. It's just a hand. I know. But it's a part of me. Every time I can't do something I used to be able to do it's like a reminder I'm not whole yet. And I wish I didn't have to fight for the most basic rehab care. I'll start again, when I can muster the emotional energy to at least act like I have additional reserve of trust. I don't know if this is what people have to fight through, but it's not right. Especially when you're at your most vulnerable. I feel bad for everyone just trying to recover, who is left with a defective piece of themselves and the confusing task of navigating a way towards just being whole again, or even just regaining the ability to clasp their own darn bra. read more

My wife and I have been patients of Ortho Bethesda for the past nine years and though we have received good service from our surgeons, the practice has grown way too large to serve its patients adequately. You can never get through to their switchboard to speak with anybody, when needed. Their staff are extremely slow in responding to e-mail messages and are poorly trained. After poor service and frustrating experiences with their staff, we have decided to go elsewhere for our orthopedic needs. read more

Had a TKR and a hip replacement done by Dr. Cannova. Due to a freak accident getting out of the car to walk into my 1st follow-up appointment for the TKR, my leg opened like a zipper (my MCL was under pressure from the swelling in my leg and just popped due to an awkward twist). I was taken to the trauma center at Suburban. Dr. Cannova came in and operated that night and was able to repair the MCL; there was no damage to the prosthesis. I'd been healing rapidly up to that point (was walking without any assistive devices at the time of the accident), and while the accident set back my recovery a bit, I was still able to have my scheduled hip replacement on the same side four months later as scheduled. I was driving 5 days after the hip replacement, it went so smoothly. The office itself is possibly the best-run medical practice I've ever visited. I've never waited more than 5 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. read more

I called to get a copy of my medical records. After going through an endless set of message option, a human being answered the phone, and immediately hung up on me. The staff is outrageous. The doctors are incredibly specialized, to specialized to treat you as an individual. If you have back pain and hip pain, you end up being shuffled to multiple doctors who will than order MRIs/X-rays. The doctor who specializes in spines will not help you get answers to hip problems. That has been my experience, and I will not be going back. read more

I have confirmed on multiple occasions imcluding two hours before my appointment to being informed once i arrived there that the doc. ( Feutshbaum) was absent from the office for the entire day. My appointment was cancelled ten minutes prior, despite my efforts to attend, given my pain, anxiety and the treacherous road conditions following the snow storm. The incompetent staff, particularly that black male, calling me "rude, bad person" when I voiced my concerns instead of demonstrating understanding. This behavior is unacceptable, especially considering their role in the healthcare industry. He should work at walmart or something if he can't handle patients. Firstly, cancelling appointments at the last minute disrupts the schedules of many individuals who commute from far distances. Secondly, causing patients to make unnecessary trips wastes both their time and resources, as well as negatively impacts their overall well-being. This clinic is pretty big! I was amazed! It looks like a mini hospital floor. Plenty of staff members to help assist. If you are going to your appointment and it's your first time going here? Please come early! They have a tablet that you have to fill out your information on. The doctor that assisted be was Dr. Holmes. He was a really nice guy overall. I been having hip and knee pain and the assistant took xrays of my hip and knee. The doctor recommended Aleve for my pain. But I honestly was expecting more advise? But I get it, they are bone doctors and I'm assuming they don't get in detail about muscles. I honestly went here because I was concerned it may have been a broken hip or knee. So they did a great job clarifying that it wasn't broken. Advising me to give it 10 days and see if the pain returns. Hoping for the best right now, but I would definitely recommend this place if you want to see an orthopedist. They squeezed me in too!!! I was so happy! read more

I have an appointment for 3 months from now. Requested to be called if someone cancels. Instead you get random messages during the day with a word you must text back. There are some people who are professionals who cannot have the volume up or text immediately. The closest I have gotten is 15 minutes but the appointment has always been filled. Call us like we are adults and in the order placed on the list. People are in pain and don't want to play your stupid games in order to get seen. Someone who has been waiting for 3 weeks for an earlier appointment can lose out to someone who has only been waiting 3 days. I made an appointment in June for September and they had the nerve to call and try to put me off until October. They definitely don't value future patients. Medical is not a lottery and pain is real. read more

This is such a wild place. I don't even know how to begin. I mean, my doctor (Gazdag), was kinda lovely, but was weirdly defensive of his staff. Who did nothing wrong, but try to gaslight me that my size 8 adult-woman shoe...was a child size. I left three weeks ago. They told me they'd call when a boot came in my size. They didn't. Seems dumb. When it manifests in toes falling out of the front, hurting, the straps not hitting right, hurting. They all kinda shrugged, acknowledged, and didn't give a crap (both wanted it made clear that the too small one was fine...it's not...it literally hurt where it should not...). Meh. Not the care I thought I'd receive. A receptionist also ran my card through the validation machine and it didn't work, so I paid ANOTHER $8 on top of all of this. read more

This is an extremely busy practice that is overloaded. They incorrectly forgot to document that I had an injection during my visit when I sought a second opinion and requested my medical records. They also did not respond to any messages left on voicemail to their assistant or email, to fill out a form which was requested 2.5 weeks. No response within 24 - 48 hours, leaving me in limbo. No one will respond and it is very difficult to get hold of anyone. Would not recommend this place because it is too busy and the lack of attention to detail is scary. Also the wait time for my appointments - have never been on time (always 15 min at least late). Sounds good on paper with all the credentialed providers but actually the operations lacks a patient center focus. So just warning others in case they have more complex cases that would require a lot more follow up. It will be very difficult for you to reach anyone who doesn't just hand you off to another; and it will be a challenge if you are in pain for them to follow through. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bieber by another physician for an issue with my hand. It wasn't an emergency but I was still able to get an appointment just a week of so later. I had problems preregistering on-line but was able to fill out the paperwork at the office. The waiting room is large allowing for social distancing. I've worked in an orthopedic office so no surprise there was a bit of a wait before I was called back. The nurse went over a few things and then asked if I minded having an x-ray. After a few minutes I was taken back to the x-ray area and then returned to my exam room. Dr. Bieber came in shortly and looked at the x-rays and had me do a few hand exercises. He confirmed the diagnosis I had expected and also noted I had the very early stages of carpal tunnel syndrome. I so appreciated that he said I did not need surgery, both of my conditions were in the early stages. He was nice and very professional and made me feel quite confident in his diagnosis. read more

I've been experiencing hip pain for months and looked into hip specialists landing on Ortho Bethesda as the best one in the area and takes my insurance. Extremely easy to work with them from appointment to parking to seeing the physician to x rays all very fast and well done. Ends up my hips are great but have bursitis in the hip area and tight tendon so need PT which they also have in the building. They have everything you can think of under the same roof. It's a very large group and you'll be well cared for. read more

Dr. Fisch was a great find and his practice accepts my insurance for surgery too! It is hard to find an outpatient surgery center that accepts my insurance and so glad I found this practice. I needed epidural shots to help relieve my nerve pain and Dr. Ira Fisch came to the rescue. It is a quite witty, and a bit humorous, which I found a bit refreshing. We did the surgery at the Surgery Center of Rockville and the Dr. performed the shots into my back. What a relief. Anyone looking for a much better orto experience, please look here. Dr. Gazdag is a very good foot & ankle surgeon. Came for first visit and he was very personable and direct. The office is large and they give you tablets to complete the paperwork -including swiping your payment or Co pay. Second visit was quick. Surgery was scheduled for Piccard Surgery Center within a week. Overall good experience with staff but not overly friendly front desk persons. The parking lot is the size of a football field and parking is outrageous which is why they got a 4 instead of 5. No one wants to park far with injured foot and then pay $10 for 2.5 hrs of parking. It's not in the middle of the city so makes no sense to me why so costly to park! read more

I've been going to OrthoBethesda for more than 15 years and have seen pretty much all the doctors in the practice - hip replacement, wrist fracture, ankle fracture, knee, elbow, physical therapy etc. I've ALWAYS had exemplary treatment and ALWAYS highly recommend them to everyone. Well, I recently did something to my leg (knee to ankle) and had to go to their newly acquired Shady Grove office and to a new doctor, Dr. Sethi as he was the only one with availability. Dr. Sethi barely examined my swollen leg and ankle and thought that I may have a blood clot and referred me to another facility for an ultrasound. After the ultrasound no more information or communication was received! Its been a week and I emailed the office and also called and left voicemails asking for my diagnosis and next steps and NOTHING - a week after my visit. I finally was able to speak with someone on the clinic phone line who read me that the image showed no blood clot and that was it. He then told me that I would have to make another appointment with Dr. Sethi - told me I couldn't see another doctor in the practice but had to go to Sethi for a follow up. Um, NO THANK YOU. Dr. Sethi never even checked my knee or anything and a week later my leg is still swollen. This is not the treatment nor service nor "whatever" attitude I'VE EVER RECEIVED AT THIS PRACTICE. So after 15 YEARS SO LONG ORTHO BETHESDA - if you don't care about my wellbeing then I'm not going to support your ever increasing practice that includes adding sub par practices and being stuck with a Dr or staff that provides no follow up or adequate care. **EDITED TO ADD** (talk about insult to injury here).... I went to my wonderful podiatrist today to see if he could figure out what was going on with my leg (knee to ankle) since the swelling still hasn't gone down. He took X-rays and examined my foot, ankle, tendons etc. and then wanted to know what the full diagnosis was from the ultrasound that OrthoBethesda had ordered and promptly called the imaging center and had them fax over the report so he could read the details. He provided me with more information than anyone had before (he's so good and caring) and discussed the fluid in my leg that was found. But the most surprising thing is when he asked me what doctor I had seen and I told him Dr. Sethi he said no, that's not possible because DR. SETHI IS A BACK AND SPINE SPECIALIST and doesn't work with legs knees or ankles. Now why the hell did the scheduler make an appointment for me with a BACK specialist when I clearly told them and described the issues with my leg (knee to ankle) AND NEVER COMMUNICATED THAT I WAS SEEING A BACK SPECIALIST. WHAT A SHIT SHOW! OH, and I finally received an email back today from Dr. Sethi's office A WEEK AFTER MY APPT AND IMAGING telling me that I didn't have a blood clot and no further information on next steps or any remedies. Well thank you because had I had a blood clot I would be DEAD by now. F'ng asshats. read more

I had TKR with Dr. S Durbhakula in June of 21. Came back to see him January 17 with issues with not just the replaced knee but my other knee that was "locking". Two weeks later, xrays and MRI taken, I have yet to hear from this guy what treatment I need moving forward ... I got a phone message "will contact you in the near future" from his assistant today !!! I waited all day to hear from him. This lack of followup is not acceptable. I now have to find another ortho specialist to pick up this slack. read more

I'm a patient of Dr. Lu. He seems like a competent enough physician. His staff seems to be the problem. I've had 2 appointments with Dr. Lu. Both times he mentioned he was leaving a prescription to be called in that day to my pharmacy. Both times his office failed to call in the prescription. I asked the pharmacy to call in a request to renew the prescription. The office ignored that request. They don't respond to the doctor or the pharmacy. After calling the office myself and waiting a long time to speak with someone I asked to speak to someone directly in Dr. Lu's office. That was impossible but they did eventually call me back. They were very apologetic. I finally was able to get the prescription filled. Or at least I hope so! This is no way to run an office. read more

My family was first introduced to the team at OrthoBethesda when my father met Dr. Bieber after a car accident over 20 years ago. Our family has been using them since. Dr. Bieber dealt with my fractured wrist over ten years ago. Dr. Gazdieg is an amazing foot and ankle specialist. Craig Miller is first-rate. Miller's examination was extremely thorough. Ortho Bethesda also has an amazing team of physical therapists who are very caring people. I encourage anybody with orthopedic issues to see their team first. read more

OrthoBethesda has a top notch medical team in one central location. They are a large office that functions very efficiently. I myself have seen two doctors and my son, one. All doctors seemed knowledge and personable. I've never had complications with medical billing or customer service. Their office is located directly across from the back parking lot side of Walter Johnson High depending on what street you enter from and parking is easy to come by. Bring your parking ticket with you as they started to validate parking as of mid-year 2019. I saw with Dr. Gazdag (foot and ankle) and Dr. Feuhtbaum (back/spine) after a year of chronic pain when walking and seeing several other specialists who diagnosed me incorrectly and wanted to constantly prescribe narcotics. My first visit with Dr. Feuhtbaum was very quick; in a matter of mins he diagnosed me accurately. I was recommended to him by a specialist from Johns Hopkins who thought I had a pinch nerve in my lower back although I complained of foot complications. Dr. Feuhtbaum asked a few questions and gave me paper work to have a back MRI done although after touching and tapping my ankle he said, I believe you have tarsal tunnel (similar to carpel tunnel just in the ankle) so make an appointment with Dr. Gazdag while setting up your MRI. After a year of pain and many medical expenses, that's exactly what my ankle MRI revealed; I had tarsal tunnel, something I never heard of. Dr. Gazdag performed outpatient surgery without any problems. I was non-weight bearing for a few weeks (I'm a traveler and flew to San Fran two weeks post surgery, cast and all lol) and then in a boot for a few weeks followed by PT for 4 weeks. A temporary handicap MVA doc was filled out upon request and I am 100% now. At the age of 36, you don't expect to be in chronic pain or have a foot that is numb because of a pinched nerve. I am so glad I found these doctors. As for my son, he had a hand injury from football. We went to RightTime clinic on Rockville Pike, they performed an XRay and indicated he had a broken finger. We saw Dr. Dubrhakula and OrthroBethesda performed another X-ray revealing no broken finger, just a sprain that kept getting reaggravated since he wasn't in the proper splint. Could you imagine as a parent your child complaining and you finally take them to the doctor then they say, your child has a broken ligament. I felt like the worst mother coming from RightTime Clinic, I'm so glad OrthroBethesda cleared that up and confirmed my initial thoughts. I would highly recommend them and do recommend them to everyone. read more
