If something is broken on the property when you move in do not expect them to ever voluntarily come in and fix it expects to spend literally months or even years fighting with them to come and fix something as simple as an air conditioner or a dishwasher that hasn't worked since you moved in. Also make sure you take photos of literally everything take notes make them sign papers or acknowledging the current state, in writing, when you move in. Because any time you attempt to have maintenance come out and fix something they will bend over backwards to attempt to blame you for literally anything including an act of God and they will try to charge you for it. Unless you have a lawyer on retainer expect them to just plain lie and charge you for things in complete disregard of any law or legal statute because, the people who are actually handling the phones and the desk have zero training and have just been told to do things and have no idea whether they're breaking the law or not they're just afraid of their supervisor yelling at them for spending too much money on a property. Unfortunately, my experience with this company was sketchy…read more The property I was interested in was listed for rent at $1500 a month. After contacting JLS, viewing the property, submitting applications with a $100 fee ($50 for each renter's application), and approval of our applications, they informed me that the price of the rental was actually $1600. This did not sit well with me, but the person I spoke to told me that their rental manager had quit and they were scrambling to manage without him. Understandable, but this was a red flag, so I did not agree to sign a rental agreement right away. I was taking some time to think on it. During the time I was mulling it over, the listing price changed to $1600 (on Trulia, Facebook, etc). I voiced my concern to JLS and they offered to look for other properties listed at $1500 and get back to me, which never happened. They stopped returning my calls about other properties. After I told them that we were going to decline renting the property, the listings on Facebook/Trulia went back down to $1500. Given the fact that the rental market is high, I assume they felt like they could get more money out of me. I'm glad I followed my gut and chose not to work with them. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. Sketchy!!
