I believe I was given too much anesthesia. I also believe I received very poor follow-up care from the practice. When the procedure was done, the practice called my partner, Donna, to come pick me up. Over the phone, the nurse told her that a polyp had been removed and cauterized. The nurse said I could resume all my usual medications that night. A little surprised, Donna asked if that included my blood thinner, Eliquis. The nurse hesitated but eventually said yes. When Donna arrived at the clinic, she called to let them know she was there. She waited in the parking lot for a little while and eventually a nurse brought me out in a wheelchair and said they couldn't get me to wake up. She also said they had revised instructions about my meds and I should hold the Eliquis until 11/1/23. They got me into the car and Donna brought me home. I don't remember any of this. Donna got me home and in bed around 4:30 PM. I finally woke up around 7:30 PM and asked what time it. I had no idea if it was that evening or the following morning until she clarified it for me. I got up, sat in our living room, had a glass of water, and promptly vomited all over myself. She got me cleaned up and back to bed. I was out for the night. The next morning, I got up at around my usual 7 AM. I went into the bathroom and almost immediately threw up again. I felt a lot of nausea and a headache. We waited for the practice to open and called in. Dr Chase called back and told me to go to my primary care physician. He wouldn't see me. This surprised me but I did it. Irongate Family Practice saw me that day and prescribed an anti-nausea medication. I did stop vomiting but the headache and nausea continued. On Sat. AM, 10/21, I called Dr Chase's office. He was the physician on call that day. He did call back but once again refused to see me and told me to go to my primary care. We went back and forth about this for a while. Irongate was also involved in the discussion. Dr Chase eventually said I should go to the ER; he wouldn't see me. I clearly wasn't going to get any help from him. Donna brought me to Glens Falls Hospital ER. The hospital treated my with IV fluids and some medication. They did full examinations to make sure there were no injuries in my abdomen. After about 4 hours, the nausea and headache ended and they released me with a prescription for anti-nausea meds. My stomach continued to be sensitive for a little while. I had diarrhea for a few days, then one day of extreme constipation which passed by late Wednesday, 10/25/23. No matter what my symptoms, I will NEVER have another procedure done at Gastroenterology Associates. I will NEVER recommend them to friends or family or strangers.

There was 1 other patient in waiting area. 45 minutes to check in and be taken to triage, another 40 minutes till X-ray completed and then an additional 35+ minutes to get results (I'm still waiting!). Not once have they offered to get me an ice pack for the obvious swelling. Then all at once, what to my wondering eyes appears? A know nothing nursing assistant! Says X-ray shows "nothing" and has me sign a paper saying I have an adult contusion. After not being able to even figure out how to move the leg holder on the wheel chair I have to hold my leg in midair while she poorly wraps with ace bandage. And the coup de grace?? She informs me that swelling will continue without ice and elevation.......they did not ever offer me ice or elevation!! And they did not even swipe the bleeding area with a magic wand let alone some kind of antibacterial agent!! They did give me an ice pack on my way out because I just couldn't stop from replying that I could have lessened the swelling if I had been applying ice the last few HOURS I spent in their "care"! I am now convinced I would have received better medical attention from the veterinary next door.

To the previous person about the removal of the carcinoid tumor.. are you a surgeon? then why didn't you remove it? Maybe he was saving complications by not doing a biopsy first?... maybe he could see it was cancerous and didn't want to wait....I'm not a surgeon but I do know enough to know that more than "just the tumor" is removed... some lung tissue goes with it... it's called a margin Maybe you should have asked that surgeon in NYC exactly what percentage was taken out! I'm seriously tired of people complaining about things they have no further knowledge of.

She had a PET scan which revealed one spot on her lower right (lobe) lung was cancerous. FACT 2: We went to "Dr." DeCunzo soon after, who said that he "could not perform a biopsy and he would only be able to remove the whole right lobe of her lung"!! 25% of her lung. Luckily she caved to my pressure and I took her to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. FACT 3: The head surgeon said that he "WOULD recommend a biopsy" to find out exactly what it is then if it needs to be removed to "only remove the tumor". The biopsy revealed that it is a Carcinoid Tumor that needs to be removed. In her elderly state she refused to have care in NYC but we have seen a third surgeon at Albany Med who luckily said that he will do the surgery "ONLY to remove the tumor". Oh, and when she called the "surgeon" in Glens Falls to let them know she's going to get a second opinion the nurse hung up on her! I wouldn't recommend this guy to look at a hang nail let alone any sort of surgery. And I have every single piece of literature, receipts, and evidence to follow up with everything that I've written here. Unfortunately I couldn't file a complaint with the AMA, although I tried, since he didn't do any actual surgery. But stating that a biopsy is impossible (his words) and the only thing to do is to remove 25% of her lung which was totally unnecessary is very neglectful in my opinion. ANYone going to this quack should beware and know they're putting their life at risk. That's what happens when you go to a hick doctor.

She got angry that I wouldn't let it go & poopoo'd every idea. She refused my request for physical therapy because she didn't think I would do the work. I ended up finding a new doctor within the network whom I thought the world of. He was a newer doctor, they hadn't crushed his Hope & want to help people yet. I've seen him for 8 years or so but it's gotten to the point I can't actually see him. Reception is great, some nurses are great, some are quite rude, cut you off, act like you should be honored that they are taking you blood pressure (around the elbow, not kidding) The nurses that triage the portal have been awful lately, I get that they need to save the doctor time but many times they have written back and not bothered to address my question. I turned out to have multiple chronic illnesses, you know, all the ones the first doctor poo poo'd, I also ended up in the hospital because of her crappy care. At my appointment, I was pissed but I hardly say a thing when I'm mad, I did say a couple things that I totally own. But when I got my care report it was like the doctor and I were at two different appointments. He said I was irate but he said the reason was over having to take a urine screen, that makes no sense, I was there for my controlled medicine check, you always get screened. he always typed in and put in quotations a bunch of things that I did not say. if I didn't know what really happneed & only read this (which goes to the next doctor) I would think this person was a drug seeker and picture this huge scene happening. no one's voice raised. I am beyond angry that he could use his position to do such a thing,

My latest experience (it's been a…read morecouple of years since my last interaction with Hudson Headwaters) was less than worthless. In the exam room, I waited for 2 hours while attendants came in and looked for stuff in cabinets and gave me no attention. A nurse did finally come in after 2 hours, checked the cut on my finger that had brought me to urgent care because of tingling up my arm and checked my reflexes. She said she'd get a doctor to look at it. About 25 minutes later, a doctor came in, looked briefly at my finger, and said it was OK. That was it. When I got to the check-out and asked for my bill and the summary of the visit which I'd been told I would be given, I was told there was no summary and no charge. (I figured that was because so little had been done.) But around 10 days later, I got an online bill for $273! When I called the number I was told to call for billing or insurance issues, I called--left an extended message--and got no return call for 24 hours! Today I opened the HH email again and see that I owe nothing--but no explanation of their error. I am not even sure whether I actually DO owe nothing (my usual insurance copay is $25). I called and left another extended message. Do I expect a call back? G-d knows!

Unfortunately, all of those practitioners have retired and, at the time of my last visit I was unfamiliar with the new bunch. I went for a mammogram and saw Diana Sustar. While I was not adverse to listening to what she had to say, we clearly did not agree on the issue. I was so angry when I got home that I called the office and asked that a note be placed on my file that I never want to see that doctor again. To be fair, Dr. Sustar did leave me a short "apology" via the portal, in which she explained that she was only trying to "educate and inform" me. I was well educated and informed when I walked into the office, but was treated with condescension and arrogance when I expressed an opinion that was different from her own. I will find a doctor who respects my opinion in regard to my body.
