I saw their work. I liked what I saw. I made an appointment. I spoke with Carly because I liked her detailing in her art. I booked an appointment and gave a down payment to hold a spot. Told her what I wanted. She said she'll see what she can do. I told her whatever she does I'm sure I'll be happy with. I got an email stating that she was sorry she was not capable for doing my tattoo, I asked her if anyone else in her shop capable of doing my tattoo. It was not that intricate to do. She said no they all tattoo about the same and she gave me my money back. So yeah, I'm not happy at all with the results that I've experienced. Who turns down $800 for a tattoo? Before I start this review I want you to understand I just created a Yelp because I fell in love with my tattoo so much that I have to make it public that glenside tattoo is by far the best tattoo place in the area. So I went in with my friend today who has already gotten a tattoo from the owner drew. Drew is a man who loves his work and is so humble. Anyway back to the story, my friend got his forearm tattooed and I was looking at all the great ideas they had up on the wall in the meantime I found a dagger tattoo that really intrigued me and asked drew if he could squeeze me in after my friend was done. He said yes and then I showed him what I wanted and told him to put his own magic on it. Drew gave me the best price I could ask for and started to do what he loves. The tattoo wasn't painful at all for the spot it was in and before I knew it the session was over The moment I saw the tattoo I felt regret for not having drew do all of my tattoos to this point. I had done a lot of research in where I wanted to get my work done and then simply picked a location based on how close it was to my apartment. And I am so glad this just happened to be near me! The first time I went, I had an old tattoo touched up. I was told that some parts of it would be difficult to redo but he was able to fix it and now it looks so much better than before. The second time I went, I had a massive tattoo placed on my upper left arm. I had sent an email explaining my ideas and Drew emailed me back saying I could walk in anytime for a consult. I met with Pat, who took my drawings and pictures and made a sketch of my ideas right then and there. He completely nailed it! He asked when I wanted it done, I said whenever, and he said why not now? I was thinking that this whole process was going to take an exhausting three or four days but I was in an out in a little less than an hour and a half. Not only that, but he talked me through my ideas and even saved me from making a huge mistake with my tattoo placement. I wanted a cover up for a while, and I called this shop. I was greeted respectfully with good customer service. I arrived around an hour before there close, and they didn't turn me around. Mark greeted me and also tatted me. I was in good hands. He took time out to actually hear what I wanted, and gave me great conversation while creating my piece. Must visit this shop every one. I just moved to Philly and was very nervous about getting a tattoo at a shop I had no personal references from. I went off of Yelp and I am so very happy I did. I went to one other shop before checking out Glenside and felt almost defeated. I was treated as if the tattoo I wanted was not good enough to be done in their shop. The artist I was referred to tried to talk me out of what I envisioned. I walked out dejected. On the advice of a friend we decided to check out Glenside although I was hesitant. We walked in and referred to Pat. Pat instantly made me feel at ease. He heard me out. He had me send him some images and he drew up what I wanted. The next day I went back and he NAILED IT! It was even better than what I wanted. He was kind and a put me at ease during the tattoo process. I had such a great experience with the tattoo artist who did my previous two and really wanted the same experience for this one. Pat sure did make that happen. I love this place, I have 2 tattoos from this shop and I plan on getting many more. My son is a long time customer and took me in for a tat and Mike did exactly what I wanted, it came out perfect. A few weeks later we took our daughters in to get their first tattoos and while we were there my husband asked Drew to hook us both up with a matching tattoo. We absolutely love them, they healed beautifully the colors are so vibrant and it's executed what we wanted. The music that plays while your in the shop awesome, you never know what you're going to hear, the flash on the walls is so much fun too, I don't know where to look next! I'm already heavily tattooed, and nothing on my body is American traditional. What did I get? American traditional. I received my nose piercing from Michael Szabo and let me say he is the BEST! He made me so comfortable and even allowed me to pick out the color I want for my piercing. I am hypoglycemic and after getting my nose done I started getting dizzy. He had glucose tablets to help my blood sugar and had me relax while I drank water until I felt better. He is also so KNOWLEDGABLE! He gave me full instructions on how to care for my piercing with a small demo and even emailed the directions to me so I could access them anytime. If I ever forgot or had a question he gave me a way to contact him personally. This man is the best, if you are thinking about getting a piercing I would definitely go to him!!! read more

I work for a gallery, surrounded by images I've been wanting to put onto my body for years... But never had the guts to pull the trigger. When I found Glenside Tattoo, it was the first time I was made to feel completely comfortable getting tattooed; I had been tattooed twice before, but my tattoo artist (Nate) at Glenside Tattoo was the most professional, clean and talented I have come across. During the tattoo on my ribs, which took about 2.5 hours, I was allowed to get up and stretch, given some sugar candy when I felt shaky, and given multiple checkpoints to make sure I was happy with how it was going. I have now gotten two tattoos there (a Dalí, shown, and a tiny Robert Motherwell "Elegy"), and have a mental list growing for many more. I had a great experience at Glenside Tattoo. I sent an e-mail on Saturday morning asking if I could get in early that afternoon. It was my birthday weekend and this tattoo was a birthday gift. Brian got back to me letting me know he could see me at 1:30. I sent the artwork over so that he had an idea of what I was looking for. When I got there, he already had most of the drawing down. There are numerous talented tattoo artists to choose from in the region. However, just because you go to a good tattoo artist doesn't mean you will get a good tattoo. Now, enter Glenside Tattoo. I have known Drew's work for many years and recently had the pleasure of getting some of my own at his new location in Glenside. He approaches every project with expertise and a great attitude. Drew and his crew treat all clients with tremendous professionalism. From dime size tattoos to large back pieces each work gets their full attention. I think a pre-requisite for working here is being a scholar and a gentleman. If you you want an excellent tattoo and experience, don't hesitate to visit here. I decided to get my nose pierced on a whim and heard good things about this spot. All the guys in the shop were super nice and Mike was a doll. I just got a tattoo from here and it is CRAZY good. The design I selected is a pretty complicated design from comic artist Al Columbia. I walked in and asked for a price, and they told me they could do it for $240. Knowing this information, I went to Wildwood, NJ to see if they would do the tattoo for the same price. Nope. I went to two tattoo places there that said they could do it for no less than $350! More than $100 difference! I went back to Glenside to get this tattoo and couldn't be more impressed! read more

I wanted to get a new tattoo, did some research and contacted Glenside Tattoo. I called, then went in and met with Nate a tattoo artist there. I explained to him what I was looking for and some ideas I had. This will be a very sentimental tattoo and very important to me. As it turns out Nate has a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and was going to create custom art based on the ideas we discussed. I made an appointment to come back the following Saturday. The sketch that Nate made was just great. The final results were even better, I can't say enough about how well it turned out. The shop was clean and everyone was very professional. About three weeks ago, I went to Glenside Tattoo to get a simple tattoo done: four diamonds/arrowheads on my outer left thigh. When I was done, it looked good but after a couple days following, I began to notice how some of the lines were squiggly and how it was blowing out each in consistent spots on all four of the arrowheads and on both sides of the lines as well. I traveled an hour into Philadelphia to meet with a higher ranked tattoo artist for a consultation about this and he agreed with me after he looked at my tattoo. I was worried because I heard that blowouts could happen because of the person's skin and he said, and I quote: "Fuck that. It was the artist. My shit wouldn't have looked like that." Then he proceeded to tell me that to fix what had been done, he would've had to do double the lines because there were blowouts on both sides and that the tattoo's lines would have to be twice as big. He also suggested to start thinking about filling in the inside because of how bad it was, and that it looked as though the past artist went up and against the skin (apparently are all tattoo artists should go with it and down), as there were more blowouts on the right side more than the other. He said I would have to come back in a few months when it was fully healed before he could work on it. It really was messed up and he felt bad for me. Then when I went back to Glenside Tattoo to tell them, they tried to argue with me saying that everything the other person said was wrong and "wasn't a thing." They offered to try and fix it for me a couple of times right then but I immediately declined every time that he suggested. I do not want anyone there touching my skin ever again and I will be sure to never, EVER go there. The end product is horrible and I have to wear jeans because if you look at with under seven feet in distance, you can definitely tell that the guy did it with an unsteady hand in the wrong direction. The product was blurry and squiggly, there were blow outs everywhere on the arrowheads, and I'm very highly upset. I spent good money for something permanent on my skin and now I have to spend double the money to see if it can be fixed. I'll be sure to let anyone I know that is thinking of going to Glenside Tattoo that they would be better off going someplace else. If it was positive to give them negative stars, I could. read more

this place is great!!!! walked in and they helped me right away. we were totally on the same wave length on what i wanted to do and how we wanted to do it. even the music playing during my tattoo was great. ranged from slayer to billy joel even a little ELO mixed in there!!!! Professional, knowledgeable, expert piercer, Michael Szabo, who knows proper after care & actually cares about anyone who walks in! I stopped in after hearing good things about them & researching online to see a professional piercer who could look at a piercing I got on vacation in New Orleans that was killing me! I went in to another place first to consult with a piercer & he had told me instructions that weren't working at all and my piercing was getting worse, not better. Ready to simply have it removed from pain & frustration, I met with Michael Szabo & he totally saved my piercing & educated me a ton! Little did I know, I had never received proper, sanitary, after care instructions for my piercings which has led to issues and Michael saved the day! After being greeted by very friendly people, I was sent directly to Mike & he spent a ton of time with me explaining proper after-care and provided super thorough instructions there and in a follow up email. I went to Glenside Tattoos to get my nose pierced. The staff was very nice and helpful with any questions or concerns I had. The piercer Mike was all about making sure his client was ok with what they were getting pierced. After i had my piercing done he went through the healing process and how to take care of your piercing very thoroughly and also emailed you a copy to make sure you wouldn't forget.
