My father was at Glenwood SNF for 100 days. I truly cannot be more grateful for the care and attention my dad received while he was there in February 2026. He has progressed dementia along with his other medical conditions. The dementia added a whole other level of care that the CNAs handled with care and dignity. I truly wish he could have stayed there. The place felt very communal family oriented. I do recommend this location. The staff, CNAs, physician and nurses care about the patients and treat them with dignity and kindness. Thank you for everything you did for my dad. read more

I called to get information about the facility. They told me to speak to Rachel but Rachel was never available. She is not in she left for the day call back an hour etc etc Left voicemail, left messages, she never reached out to me. Finally someone gave her email address. I got great care until the time of my discharge. The supervisors of the therapy department wrote reports that tried to discharge me early. They tried to say that I was ready to be reased early, when my lower part of my body needed more tharapy. I told them that I would not be getting any help if I went home.The therapy staff turned a deaf ear toward my concerns of being released. They blamed everything on my insurance. I ask why I was being release and was told that my therapy had gone as far as, I could go. Nothing more could be done at the time. If that were trure why did I win my appeal? I wrote an appeal to stop my early release and won the appeal. The director of social sevice was not transparent with me in my dealings with her. She needs to be looked at seriously by an administrator or some in autority over her position. read more

STAFF SUCKS. First, operator is very quick and short to answer and just transfers the call to whatever department. Doesn't really help. Second, Patients there and sometimes need help with appointments and video appointments with outside doctors (most patients can't figure it out) so that's why the STAFF is there to help right? WRONG! What is the staff doing that they are not along side the patient at the time of their appointment to help them. Elderly patients need extra help with technology. Take this into consideration the next time a patient who is 91 years old and needs help. Get your act together people or find another career. read more

I wanted to leave a review for Glenwood. Where do I begin? My mother went into their care after an extensive ER and hospital visit. The nurses took amazing care of her. I ben though they were busy, they always made the upmost effort to listen to her needs and problems and make her feel heard. They maintained excellent care during her physical therapy. I would highly recommend them as a rehab care facility. read more

My relative had a stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side. The Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy was outstanding. They were encouraging, supportive, and put together a rigorous rehab plan. In 6 weeks my relative returned home with her ability to walk and use her entire left side. She has 95 percent of her pre stroke abilities back. I can't say enough good things about the team of therapists, social workers, nurses, & the medical Doctor. One doctor services this facility. Doesn't respond to phone calls When my wife was about to be discharged he showed up in middle of night to take X-rays. Informed my wife had pneumonia. I asked she be moved to CMH. Emergency physician informed me no pneumonia. My wife came back to Glenwood and was discharged. Staffed by certified Nursing Assistants. Unable to respond to patients' needs. One RN to monitor patient's needs. Physician rarely seen. This review is written by a person who worked in health care for forty years and knows good care from poor care. read more

My mom stayed at Glenwood for a couple months after a fall and a bout of pneumonia. Was it a perfect place? No, but now I can see that there is probably no perfect care center that takes Medical. At times it didn't seem like the cleanest and some of her laundry did disappear but the 4 star review is for the caring people that work there. It takes a certain person who is not just in it for the paycheck to work in a care facility like that. Communication was always great and I'd like to personally thank Suzette for her honesty, concern and resources provided to our family. Tim, the director at the time, was always available and very approachable. All of the nurses knew my mom by name and were super friendly and were respectful of her wishes. We eventually moved my mom to a long-term care facility closer to us but Glenwood definitely deserves credit fo the positive attributes they have. read more

There is a thief in their laundry service team! They feign ignorance to know where clothing items keep disappearing to, but the person is believed to be stealing size medium clothing and nightgowns. One time could be a mistake, but to have multiple items go missing, all in sized medium is not a coincidence in my opinion. Sweaters, blouses, nightgowns. Two makeup bags were also stolen from an elderly woman. I observed issues with them leaving elderly people in wheelchairs in hallways waiting for help and calling out for help, only to be ignored for long periods of time. It was until I offered to help the people that staff stopped gabbing and paid attention to them. They're under-staffed as well. There aren't enough sitting chairs for guests to visit in the break rooms etc. read more

Mom had been there two times before and it seemed ok. However, this last time the place has changed tremendously. Medically- I had to ask 5 different nurses over the course of a month to get another CT scan and a urinalysis. It confirmed my suspicion of an UTI. Every one of them said they'd get back to me very soon. Well number 5 did. Consistency took around 15 minutes to get someone to help her use the restroom. Visitation- Policy was "reservation 24 hours in advance of visit" This policy was followed by some staff, while others let families sign up 48 hours in advance. That was a reason why we didn't get visits some days. We missed two visits despite having a reservation because they claimed she wouldn't wake up. However, they were able to wake her up for therapy. Overall was not a good experience. Would not recommend this place. read more

I just returned from a nearly two-week stay at Glenwood and have to say it was an extremely pleasant surprise (after staying In several other such places over the recent years). All the nurses there are heroes in my eyes. I only know the names of three of them: Alihondra, Mila, and Nora. Forgive my spelling, but their service was superb. The meals were a pleasant surprise and it seemed to be reasonably clean. I did not become a member of the Physical Therapy department, but what's new about that? One can do a LOT worse than Glenwood. read more

I realized upon entering this facility that I had left AMA previously. My gut went to my throat. had been in the hospital for quite some time and was incredibly bored when choosing a nursing/rehab facility the first time. When researching the facilities, the reviews were quite the same. Either really good or really bad. The only thing that made this place stand out was smoking was allowed. I thought that sounds like fun. I chose to enter the facility so I could start smoking and feel that buzz that I remembered. Staff was horrible, therapy was laughable, kitchen was not in that decade during that decade and I had to leave. Fortunately, my husband and I were separated and he started to visit me frequently to see how I was doing. this led to a reconciliation and I had to quit smoking again. The only downside believe me. Truly was an upside though. My husband passed and I started smoking again. I had my third back surgery. It was complicated and lasted six hours. I was receiving Dilaudid every two hours via IV in the hospital, only switching to a pill at the end to see if I could tolerate it for the move to a facility. My hospitalist and my pain management specialist who is also on vacation by the way, developed a pain management plan. They developed one that worked. I arrived at Glenwood, knowing that I would have to wait several hours before I could be medicated. Especially because I had to go to Ventura where I was staying. I needed to gather clothing, nightgowns, shampoo etc. I had just moved and everything was in boxes and bags still. I didn't know where anything was. I called the facility to let them know I was having a hard time and falling. I hit my head and I can see my forehead hair and it still has dried blood. I arrived around eight/8:30 PM. I was told it was a 24 hour pharmacy and that narcotics would be expedited. It didn't matter. I was told hours and hours later that the doctor didn't want anything given to me until I was seen. That was inhumane. A take a gallon bags worth of medication besides what was prescribed at the hospital. The next morning they tried to take my blood pressure with a ridiculously huge cuff again. I brought my own peds cuff (I weigh 81 pounds) but their antiquated blood pressure machine didn't have the proper hook ups. They were not going to get an accurate reading. I liked Nora, the nurse, and let her take my blood pressure despite the outcome. It was either too high nor too low. I have hypothyroidism and I'm also in pain. My blood pressures have not been under 130 systolic until it became almost representative of hypotension. It was one or the other. I have a ridiculous and strict diet because of my G.I. problems. I had a feeding tube in my small bowel for three years because of them. The kitchen didn't even carry any milk alternative. Nonetheless a meal replacement that was vegan. I'm pescatarian but can't have dairy. They did not understand why I did not want to eat eggs that had bacon on top of them. She took my lunch order but then proceeded to entirely forget it. I was in trouble for pressing my call light too often which was strange because I would only press it twice and then it would be on for more than an hour until I walked out of my room. The only reason I pressed it more than once is because I asked for four things and was brought one. I foolishly misunderstood the act of bringing coffee to believe that she was also going to bring a pillow for my legs, water for my parched mouth, and a mask to protect others. Nope. It took so long to get all four of these that someone else who wasn't a total jerk made sure I had more water and the housekeeper brought me more water hours later and a pillow for my legs. Some other person who was not my CNA brought my mask. They did not even bother to relay to me that the doctor not only wasn't going to give me what the hospital prescribed but cut most of my medications out and the rest in in half. I knew that I was going to be in pain, and withdrawal, uncomfortable, fearing a seizure and having to deal with attitudes and an inept kitchen, so I left. right before I left I realized that the glass of water I was sipping from once again contained Maalox. I had already relayed to Nora that I could not take Maalox because I already had a bowel movement and had two bowel movements every day since shortly after the surgery and did not need assistance. I let her know that it would actually be against the good of my health as I have Crohn's and it would leave me on the toilet for days. Somehow she slipped it to me again. I have had nonstop rumblings from my bowels and visits to the toilet since my return home. I believe it's the law to let someone know a medication is being administered. I believe it's the law to let the patient know what the name of the medication being given is. I believe it's the law to let the patient know the side effects of the given medicine. read more

I gave Glenwood 5 stars because I feel they deserve it. Having been a patient there 3 times and visiting friends and family members who have been patients there I have observed the care from every angle. Glenwood is not always perfect...But they come as close as any place can. The management and the staff are professional, kind, and caring. They try their best ,while doing the most difficult work possible !! Whenever someone asks me if I can recommend a Care Center I tell them there is no better place in all of California than Glenwood !! AND That is my sincere honest opinion . read more

My father was taken to Glenwood in July. I was disappointed the moment we walked in. It smelled of urine and the admitting staff was so rude to the transportation lady dropping him off at the facility. We were directed which room to go and no one came to check him in. I told the driver to go ahead and go as my family was there to check him in anyways. We waited for approximately 10minutes when a young CNA asked if we had been assisted, I let her know we had not so she called on her walkie. Another 10 minutes she looks over and again asks and again I tell her no, but I will take care of it. I walked upto the desk area where 3 people were at and said " I have been waiting quite a while for my father to be checked in and not one of you has made the effort to get him comfortable or check him in." One lady said well (forgot her name) will be right there, my reply so glad someone can do thier job around here - I am not happy with my 1st impression. Finally someone came to check him in and when asked who do I talk to about removing him from this place I got 1st rate service. He stayed a few weeks and was released without being able to walk successfully on his own. Suprised they would release a patient who was not able to move without assistance of another. They billed my parents and have yet to reimburse my mom for the extra day she was charged. The only reason why I gave 2 stars was due to the helpfulness of the Social Worker and the young lady who assisted with his transportation needs. If you can get into the Victoria Care Facility in Ventura I highly recommend, they are a class act! read more

My brother had to be there for about 2 months. I know it's Covid and everyone is doing their best, but their best just wasn't good enough. Communication with designated family member was not up to par. I felt as if they were forgetting to include me in the treatment plans and discharge plans and medication changes. I'd get a call telling me about the 2 new employees with Covid and how they were treating the situation. I was told they'd call me back about testing my brother again because those employees were caring for him. Scary because he was so medically fragile. They never called me back. I know they did their best with the Covid testing and sanitizing. I saw them taking precautions. I left messages for the case manager about his discharge plans and never received a call back. Once I got a return call 3 days later. I felt they were not prepared when discharge time came and I certainly wasn't because I had no idea what was happening. When I picked him up on day of discharge it was rush rush rush. They met me outside and helped him right to the car. I didn't get to go over the treatment plans with his nurse. I know my brother was a difficult patient. With him not allowed to have visitors made things worse I think. The food. Apparently it was not good almost all meals. If you don't eat pork for religious reasons you'll still get pork, every single day, no matter how many times you tell them. They let us bring food in for my brother to eat. It was hard to drive to Oxnard thrice a day every day so he ended up eating 1 or 2 meals a day. He hated the food Glenwood prepared. He said it was not good and they didn't listen when it came to his food preferences. We had no choice where to go when he left the hospital. Glenwood was the only Skilled Nursing Facility that had bed availability. If he has to go to a SNF in the future I know he will refuse to go to Glenwood. I thought the front office staff were nice enough and competent. The nursing staff I met as they went in and out of the facility were nice too. read more

The care I received there shows that this isn't just a job for the employees they truly care and take pride in what they do. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone!! My dad has been there since January 2023. Physical therapist Eunice is amazing with my dad. The meals are well balanced, they are offered multiple choices for drinks, and the nursing staff is completely in tune with the patients - they even know what they specifically like, down to putting ketchup on their eggs. There's a staff member that I have seen multiple times checking each and every room for temperature. My dad's linens are always being changed. He gets regular showers, continual physical therapy; if he needs an appointment with an outside doctor, they set it up, including the ride. They are constantly checking in on him, even had a speech therapist with him one day. They also make sure he doesn't stay in bed too long. To say that they are amazing, is an understatement. My sister and I were nervous when he first entered, now we are sad that he will be soon discharged from there. read more

My friend's mom was a resident at Glenwood before we decided to move her to Colorado since my friend had to move there too. It was one of the toughest decisions we had to take because MR (my friend's mom) had been at Glenwood for a number of years and this was home, actually a happy home. The care she received was excellent, the nurses are friendly, assertive and more than anything they care. The ED is involved and responsive, he followed up with any concerns, he made us feel at ease every time we had a problem. The Director of nurses is top notch and always willing to help anyone around her. My friends mom had a stroke and rehab did a great job getting her to walk with a walker. My uncle was at this facility for almost two weeks before we decided to take him home to our house and nurse him back to health.. stay away from this place they don't care about you or your loved ones . My father has been in this place off n on throughout the years, every time I came out never really had problems back then. Now he is in Glenwood, last time he was in was 2012. This place has changed a lot inside they have nice hardwood floors makes the place cleaner looking not that ugly carpet back then. Anyway, let me move on I'm a hawk when it comes to places like this since I was in one for a month + (not this place). This place the staff, nurses, CNA's, laundry, kitchen, PT, OT custodians are awesome people. People have to think the nurses and CNA's can not drop other patients to cater to your patient on beck n call. I see this a lot then those people get mad and start cussing at nurses n CNA's cause the nurses or CNA don't drop the patient they are working with. Sometimes we have to remind they get so busy and forget, we all do. People need to realize these people are human just like us. I'm sure you don't like to be cussed at. I see families come in where the patient will say oh I been calling them and nobody came in or they didn't feed me etc. I was in the room and the person was asleep and woke up and saying this and that. I talked to the person being he was confused etc. Took a while but he was fine. CNA came in to check on him and my father. If we all help each other things run smoothly. Now let's get back to Glenwood when your loved one comes into a place like this to check the medication that they get from the hospital to make sure the correct medication is the same or if something is different question it! I had things that the hospital did and tried to blame Glenwood. When my dad went back to Glenwood in weeks time. I checked his medication list (the hospital sends over) again and of course, the hospital did it again, missing some medications or wrong dose. I told the nurse what meds were missing and dosage. The nurse has to write it down and tell their DR to confirm it this takes a day. So then the nurse will say yes it got approved or no it was taken off due to this etc, double check. I did ask the nurse for the Dr I wanted something done due to my dad's welfare of his health. The nurse asked Dr and Dr said no due to this, I explained why etc I want it done and the Dr ok it. Dr did through in the pro's and Con's which I understood The matter was taken care of. These people don't know the patient like a person caring at home. Sometimes talking makes things go better. When I'm at this place or hospital always make sure the patient can drink liquids or foods first or can get up out of bed. I will help my father or others I've taken care of if I can do it myself instead of calling the CNA's for a stupid thing like they need a drink of water or juice. When you come in and your love one just wakes up don't forget their pain level is going to act up when this happens, make them focus take some deep breathing this helps calm the pain down. Then talk with them and not focus on their pain if you keep talking and you notice there still complaining about the pain let say 15- 20 mins after they wake, Don't you keep asking "you in pain"? this will make them focus more on their pain. Just excuse yourself and say you'll be back and ask the nurse when they had a pain med etc. If you do have a question or complaint try taking the complaint or question where it can be resolved. This way it can be addressed, things can't happen overnight. If you have a suggestion let them know. I watched the head Nurse training the new CNA's very sweet telling them things to watch for or they forgot to do something, showed them the proper way. Let these people know they are doing great work they like to hear this instead of all the bad. You might have a nurse or CNA that might be snappy, brighten them up, That nurse or CNA might have got yelled at by a rude person or one of their patients died or sent back to the hospital. Help put a smile on their face. They don't mean or know they are snappy at that moment. We all have days like that!!!!! Also too I notice they use the support team as I call it. If a nurse or mainly CNA's can't do something on there own they will call for backup. Which is great. This guy Tim that overlooks everything is so sweet and he is doing a great job running and change things with this place. He has taken over the place a few years ago and to me, it has improved a lot since my dad was here. Tim has a great team working for him. When you have a great boss you have a great team. The supervisors that I met are great and they have a great team. I like to thank all of you guys and I have talked to Tim and told him he has a great crew, that all you guys need a slap on the back for your good work. There are so many of you guys that are so awesome THANK YOU ALL and the ones that I did not meet, I know you guys did an awesome job with your area. I have eyes like a HAWK! read more

My father went in with a broken hip, contracted covid in the facility, would whisper on the phone that he couldn't talk to loud because he was afraid of the harm that would come to him. And he also would look back at the door when sitting at the window talking to family to make sure they couldn't hear him talking about the treatment he was getting. He was put in a closet and was being over medicated so they could keep him quiet, we had him taken to Saint johns hospital for a check up found that they gave him 2 shots of norcam to reverse the drugs in his system. Came out of Glenwood weighing less then what he went in. The one star I gave is courtesy that's all. I hope who ever was treating him and caring for him go's through what my family had to endure seeing him go through. My Father passed away, on 4-11-21 and we all miss him dearly. So if your thinking about putting him at Glenwood I would think twice. read more

Since yelp users are finding my review helpful and its been awhile since my grandpa left the facility... I'll share about his horrific experience. After not being able to reach my grandfather or any staff members for 48 hrs. I made the 2.5 hour drive to check on him. He was very unhappy. No one had moved him or adjusted his bed for more than 24 hrs. The Doctor had ordered him to start light movement and to practic standing with his walker.... hadn't happened AT ALL. When a staff member came in to talk about these issues...my grandpa needed to use the restroom. Instead of helping him she insisted she find a nurse instead. After 5 mins. He couldn't hold it any longer and wet the bed. He was humiliated and upset and wouldn't let me come back in the room. There was multiple workers at the nurse's station. They all told me they were assigned to specific things and couldn't leave the station and or patient they were assign to. I hate this place. read more

Heard about Glenwood through a collegue. Looks like a wonderful rehab facility with employees that really care. My future grandmother-in-law had a bad fall recently and broke her hip. I wish I had known about this facility at the time, we would have absolutely sent her there. After hearing such great things about Yvette, the community activities director, we now have someplace for her to stay when and if she needs the care another time. My dad stayed at Glenwood for about a month after a fall. We brought him a bag of clothes and shoes when he got there. When we went to get him over a month later he had no shoes and only 2 sets of clothes that were not his. They had never given him the stuff we brought. Also since they knew we were coming I would have thought they would try to make him look presentable. It was a little after noon and his eyes were practically glued shut with crust that had probably formed overnight. His fingernails had obviously not been cut the entire time he was there. He had not been shaved in 4-5 days. He had a strong body odor that made it difficult to be in the car with him without the windows down. We weren't able to see him while he was there because of covid. We did several window visits but it was hard to see him because of his bed angle and window glare. We did some video chats but he wasn't really able to hold up the iPad so we mostly just talked to him on the phone. It was nice that they offered some communication options since we couldn't see him. We assumed he was getting good care but the state that he was in when we picked him up really makes me doubt that. Do not send your family members there, especially if they have any sort of cognitive impairment. read more

This place should be closed down the so called workers only come there to get a paycheck they don't care about your wellbeing they can careless. There so rude it's ridiculous. After having surgery on a Tuesday coming to this dumb on a Thursday I had to use the restroom so bad I called for hours before I just had to get up and go my self. There's bugs there they give u the wrong medication they lose your items. They give u burnt food . They don't clean they won't throw the trash make your bed for days unless u ask them to and even then it's a problem. The nurses send the CNA to come do there jobs and then the CNA don't know what there doing cause they just get orders to go without even knowing what they are suppose to do. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this place to anyone. If u need care please don't go to Glenwood cause you would not get the care . You will get an attitude and talked to rude though there best for that. I cannot believe this place would receive more than one star! Staff members have no common sense, no ownership of their duties, and simply do not care. I can go on and on about the poor quality of care, but perhaps one of the incidents will tell you how little they care. My dying elderly friend needed help to walk to the restroom so we called for assistance. It took three calls and well over 5 minutes to get someone over to help even though a nurse was available next door. The nurse's explanation was that she needed to make a bed. Why is making an empty bed priority over assisting someone? To make matters worse, she made the bed and walked away! I had to go up and down the halls before I found someone that could call for help, and again we waited. Because I fear retaliation for my friend, I have always been kind when requesting things, but that means nothing to them. The staff here clearly do not care about their work or the people they are meant to assist. Administration, Social Workers, etc, have been alerted to this and nothing changes. A terrible place to be and do not wish it on anyone. read more

The only thing that would get a star is the care provided by CNA's. Administration is useless. No one ever knows anything or can provide you with updates/answers on your family members' care. I went a month emailing the person I was told would be my contact for updates, only to be told, a month later, a series of lies by this person - didn't appear to have any impact to include the Center's administrator. Onsite ombudsman is useless and on the side of the Center. read more
