Been having my mom here for 2 years now, so I wanted to take the time and give my feedback. All staff are really helpful and friendly, from the ladies in the front desk to all the nurses. Everything is always super clean and organized, when I have a question about anything there are fast to help me get a response and make me and my mom feel great. The change nurse is also very professional and patient with my mom and is just amazing. I am glad i was able to find this center. I feel very comfortable having my mom here. I would really recommend this to anyone looking to try a new care center for loved ones and friends. read more

I am writing this review in hopes of just letting people be aware. There were several people at the care facility that were amazing and we are so thankful for them helping us to get through our stay there at the care center. However, there are a few things that I I am very disappointed in in the facility. I'm not sure if this is a normal protocol for all nursing home facilities or just the way this one operates but I feel it is not a good system. That is the entire time we were there we only saw a doctor one time anytime anything needed to be addressed it would go from the nurse on duty to the nursing supervisor then to the doctor and then it would come back down the chain to me with an answer. The whole time we were there no one ever listened to my mom's lungs. I never saw anyone with a stethoscope. That was shocking to me. My mom entered the facility on a Friday evening and we were told that she would be checked on every two hours and turned every two hours. She was never turned for the first three days that she was in there. When she first came in, she was over in the lawn care wing. It took a few days for her to be moved over to the where they have more of the physical therapy patients. She was there for short term so we thought. By the time they started turning her every two hours it was too late. She already had a really bad bed sore. The wound nurse did not come every day or when we called them. The regular nurse can not assist with the wounds. My mom also had an uti but it took 3 days to get them to do a test. By the time they did it it was too late. We had to go back to the emergency room and then she passed 3 days later as her liver and kidneys had shut down. The Dr only came in one time during our 24 days there. Ridiculous! We would ask to see him but he never came. Also she was allergic to strawberries and she was given strawberry flavored items three times. Wow! Once, okay but three times! Unacceptable. If you have a loved one there you must have someone with them at all times during visiting hours. Otherwise who knows what will happen! I was there everytime I was allowed. Her nurses and aids like dis being there so we could help! I will say had it not be for some of her nurses, Judy and Jordan, th aides, Jasmine and Kylene and the speech therapist Katie I would have been a basket case. They all were so sweet and kind and compassionate with mom. They helped her as well as me. The love and support from them was great. I still am being harassed to pay a bill. She passed away no thanks to the nursing center and they keep billing her. Please, any place you put your loved one be on top of it and be their advocate. read more

My father-in-law is here. He has to do physical therapy. I think that the PT department is magnificent. When Dad stopped making sense, once he first arrived, I shared my concerns with the nurse. After hearing everything is fine over and over, I cried. No. He is not fine. He is mentally sharp as a tack. We were sent to the nurse in charge. She thanked us for our concern. She wrote detailed notes and promised that the doctor would call. He did.. the next day I believe. Dad is doing better and yet more could be done. I asked PT, if the Activity Director could give him books on tape or somehow help him with his reading/entertainment needs. My FIL complains about his neighbor's TV often. We have complained too, to no avail. He doesn't care for the food. He does like the generic protein shake. I'm checking in on him today. I hope his problems are remedied soon. He's been staying there for almost 1 month. read more

food is marginal. I don't think the chefs shouldn't say chefs cooks. They can't serve hot food. If their life depended on it had breakfast this morning. The waffle looked like it wasn't even put in the toaster egg was cold. Sausage was cold and this is an ongoing thing. Every time they serve you something to eat is cold. And most the time when they come in to give you therapy it's like 20 to 30 minutes just before lunch or dinner and then they get pissed off if you tell t no you're not gonna go. read more

I put my mother in this facility because of the good ratings. When my mom said she needed to use the restroom they said to just go in the diaper. Then on another day my cousin called my mom and they talked for three hours. My mom rang the nurses station because she needed to use the restroom. It was two hours before they came to clean her up. This is not the kind of health care we signed up for. read more

My grandmother ended up getting COVID-19 in your facility, no doubt from staff since she was on lockdown. How many deaths do you have on your hands now? ...my grandmother being one of them. There was no email response to my review nor phone call...even after leaving messages on the phone and in email 8 months ago...and for you to respond now?!!! Victoria Care Center - 8 MONTHS TOO LATE! - Rehabilitation Center Near Me - Ventura, California

Great care, especially from the physical therapists, but the facility is difficult for family, especially the mobility challenged, to visit. Other than just two handicap spaces in a small lot, parking is limited to on the street and it's difficult to find an empty space (the underground garage is for employees only.) The building sits up above street level so there is a LONG ramp to the front door. Call buttons pushed in the rooms often are followed by loud audio alerts throughout the entire building. One room seemed to be setting off an alert every ten minutes and it could be heard in all the rooms. The facility is divided up into sections so it would be beneficial to all patients if the audio alerts could be set to sound just in the appropriate section at a lower volume. Monday through Friday there are plenty of staff to make sure the patients are well cared for. That's not the case on weekends and unfortunately, many are there for multiple week stays. read more

THE stars EXCLUDES the PHYSICAL THERAPY Department; they are the only great part of Victoria, and I wish them the very best moving forward with their careers. The experience my Mother and I had the past 6 weeks was horrendous. One personnel told me we are understaffed. Three days later I was told they have SO many people working here, it is hard to keep track of everyone's name. You know, when you walk down the hall of this "establishment" and see personnel on their cellphones, or listening about their upcoming weekend events? And that does exclude the popular doctor that is there to impress, yet does not have the time for an "exit interview" with patients? Like I introduced above, thank you STEPHANIE & JOHN in physical therapy for taking great care of my Mom while she was there, and encourage you to move on to bigger and better employment advantages. UPDATED: Thank you, Brittney, for reaching out. I edited my harsh review and do plan on giving you a call in the near future. Thank you. UPDATED, AGAIN, 10/30/2023: Tried to contact BRITTNEY at (949) number provided below. The girl who answered the phone said she did not know who Brittney was, and that she probably did not work there anymore. I told her that that did not surprise me one bit. They do the same there in Costa Mesa that they do in Ventura. Too bad there is not a vaccine for poor customer service and Passing the Buck. read more

My father-in-law was admitted here following hip surgery. He began to complain of itchy red bumps which kept him from sleeping and led him to fall out of bed trying to get away from the itching. His wife also received itchy red bumps after visiting him in the facility. My partner and I complained multiple times to the facility's social service department, doctors, and administrators. Each time we were given different excuses and assurances that all was being done to remedy the issue, including that the sheets were being changed, the laundry soap was being changed, and the sheets were being sent to a laboratory for testing. Eventually the red bumps led to an open wound which became infected, which resulted in my father-in-law being readmitted to CMH with a fever, where he died several days later. If you have a loved one in this facility I urge you to visit them, document anything strange, and loudly advocate for their well-being. read more

My Husband Had To Come For A Couple Days of Rehab. We Arrived There Lady At Desk Was On Her Cell Phone Playing Games, The OrderlyWho Took Him Back To His Room Kept Complaining About How Busy He Was. Once We Arrived At His Room Their Was A Standard Length Bed In The Room (Husband Is 6'5") Order Said They Would Bring Him A Longer Bed. That Happened 10:30 am Next Day. Orderly Gave Him A Cold Plate of Food As It Was Dinner Time. Then After Giving Him Food Asked Him If He Wanted It Warmed Up. As Well Hubby Is On A Bi-Pap Machine With Oxygen That They Did Not Hook Up Til 11pm That Night Which Quite 2 Times Over The Night. Blood Pressure Cuff Used Was One Of The Cheap Pharmacy Type. I Was Very Unimpressed With This Place. read more

Sure am glad I did not see Yelp before ending up here for rehab after a trip to CMH ER for a knee/leg infection that required I be non-weight bearing and on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. My surgeon said this was the best rehab around. Their PT and OT departments are well staffed and prepared to get you adapted to your situation quickly adapting to individual needs and progress. I learned to use a wheel chair fairly quickly and they had me using a walker within a few weeks. Gold star care. The nursing staff is top notch. The RNs are professional and provide excellent knowledgeable care. They know what the doctor wants and follow his or her orders. The other nursing staff is high caliber and professional too. The CNAs are execllent to very good and learn your needs quickly. The food is pretty good. Some dishes are very tasty and if you want a sandwich instead, all you have to do is ask. The chef will check in with you and wants to be sure you dietary needs are accommodated. This is not ClubMed. It is not a vacation. Other places stack 3 to a room, Victoria only has 2 maximum. This is a big deal. Good luck. I made it out. read more

Wish I could leave fewer than one star. Unfortunately, there aren't many choices in Ventura for skilled nursing facilities. I hope I never have to stay here. My mom is staying here, trying to get on her feet. There are too many issues to list..... Bad food, bad communication among staff, no communication with family. DO NOT LET A LOVED ONE STAY HERE! Our mom came here after she woke from a coma, because of a fractured hip. Other then that she was fine. She left this facility with a large infected bedsore. It was not documented in her charts until she was being released. Not even our dad was told. He was there every day. Which led to a blood infection and a little more then a week later our mom passed away. Not 2 weeks before we visited her. She was awake, alert, talking and eating. During our visit she called the caregivers evil and wanted to come home. We also discovered a friction burn on her thumb, where it looked like her hand was forcibly ripped away from the guardrail of the hospital bed. Mom was less then 100lbs. Mom could not move out of bed on her own. How could that wound get there? Please give this review some thought before this happens to your loved one. Also don't think that what they are telling you it is from their condition, whatever that might be. Had we known what was going on, we would have taken her home right then and there. Due to neglecting her wound, and not having it taken care of, and the forceful treatment, our mom passed away. I would not even give this place 1 star, but i have to. If I could put a picture of her wound and sore I would. You would be disgusted and sickened by what it looked like. Please do not let anyone you know stay here for any reason ! read more

My mom was recovering from pneumonia, she then started having blood in her urine, and they didn't do anything about it!!! She had a fever of 102!! And finally told them that she wanted to go to the ER!! Poor care!! They are way understaff!! I've called the head of nursing and have not gotten a return call! read more

Compared to our other experience, this place was amazing. Feel free to read my other review about the rehab facility we regrettably transferred to. My Father was usually out of bed when we came to visit daily, sitting upright and comfortable in his wheelchair. In my opinion interaction with others is critical in an elderly person's recovery and Victoria did a great job making sure that happened. He was here four days and in that time made several friends/acquaintances and had a rapport with several staff members who were easily accessible. Communication was clear and concise and we were all treated with respect and dignity. read more

Hands down the best Skilled nursing facility in Ventura! Therapy department is wonderful, clean facility and well trained staff!

My Dad was sent to the Victorian care center to rehabilitate after being in the hospital for a week with ulcers and he needed help walking. The first day was ok but after that they pretty much ignored him, and were pretty rough with him when they had to help him. The place was really dirty and my mom had to request that they clean a few times. My Dad finally checked himself out because he just couldn't take it any longer. read more

This place is looking for a lawsuit I swear. My grandmother had hip surgery and is currently there as of right now. Coming out of surgery she is required to have a blood thinner shot for blood clots for so many days. The male charge nurse went to give her the shot and then told her she didn't need it when in fact the whole time it was in her chart she is required to have it. He then proceeded to tell her she didn't need it with witnesses. The next day another nurse went to give her the blood thinner shot and she said that the other nurse told her she did not need it and they told her she is suppose to have it every day its in her chart and very important. Come to find out the charge nurse who said she didn't need it put in her chart that he did give it to her when he never did not. Also my grandma arrived there Friday and Saturday they changed her dressings and then didn't change them until Tuesday can you say INFECTION?!! At that point my mom called whoever is in charge of that fucked up place and let them know what had happened. They then notified their employees and one of them went and confronted my grandma " I changed your dressings don't you remember?" and my grandma is very aware of what is going on she isn't senile like the employees there think the patients are. She then told my grandma that if she needs her dressings changed to let someone know? Well its in her chart and that's your job to read her fucking chart and do what it says to do. That is like me telling my patients to next let me know to take their vitals NO its my job so I DO it without being told to by the damn patient. SO FAR falsifying medical documents and lying about doing their job. I have about had it and I want to fucking rip them apart. DO NOT take your family to this horrible facility don't get me wrong I am sure that they have good employees and good aspects to them but I honestly pray to god they get shut down before someone dies in their hands. read more

The worst!!! Can't even begin to tell you how awful this place is. I checked in after a Knee replacement. The facility is so filthy. When the CNA came to change my dressing, she put her basket of bandages and such on the floor. She didn't wear gloves. She also put the CPM machine on the floor when I wasn't using it. Could not believe how awful the food was. Absolutely disgusting. If you care about a Family member needed care DO NOT Use this facility. Please check out the inspection reports on Ca.Gov . There is a lot of information on what the inspection team found that needed to be corrected. I checked myself out after one night. Did not want my wound to get infected. If you don't believe me...go visit the facility. read more

This is a great staff who have to deal with people in later stages of life, some incoherent, some using diapers, some late stage alzheimers, some just lay there all day screaming for staff, etc. I cannot speak about the complaints on here for short term rehab patients, but as far as long term (years and years), care for a family member, this place does amazing work. read more

From check-in to check out this place was the WORST!.. -Mother had to wait forever for some help to go to the restroom or any other request. -Forgot to server dinner one night -The handoff between staff was terrible, nobody knew what the other nurse was doing so medication and other needs were not met -Staff was terrible it seemed like a real burden for them to help with anything - Just walking thru that place i saw people in awkard positions in their beds, some lady with her head under the bars on the bed. many just slumped over in their wheel chairs like them been there for hours. Mental health is just as important and this place will not help with that at all. read more

My grandmother was in the hospital for a few weeks before finally being well enough to leave, but needed to be in rehabilitation. We visited a few places before settling on Victoria Care. We had high hopes, but were almost instantly disappointed. My grandmother did not receive her physical therapy, or mandatory respiratory therapy for the first FOUR days she was there. Plus the lack of care and attention put her back in the hospital within days. She was back in the hospital a full week again before being able to be released. She went back to Victoria Care on my mom's request (after some refusal from my sister and I), and was only there another 3 days before she had to go back to the hospital. She was in the hospital another full week, and will NOT be going back to Victoria Care. Every time she had to be transported to the hospital, it was worse than when she came in the first time. She has only gotten worse from her short stays there. They are unattentative, and although many seem to be "nice" they were not caring of my grandmother's needs, did not provide her doctor ordered care because of "the weekend" (although it was Friday-Monday she did not receive for her lungs). Plus my sister was asking questions about insurance, length of stay, and more, and got shady answers every time. I would not recommend this facility for someone who has high medical needs; she was released because she was better but needed attention they refused to give. read more

I would encourage anyone to avoid this place at all costs. I had an awful experience here. The first night I had difficulty getting someone to bring a wheel chair to take me in after knee replacement surgery at CMH. Girl banged the wheel chair into the bed entering the room.No apology. I did not get my pain meds the first night. They kept telling me I would. I was put into a room with an Alzheimer's patient who was not supposed to have anyone share a room with her then moved the next day. Nurses would leave narcotic pain meds for me to be responsible for giving my self as much as two hours later. When they dispense those meds they are signing off that they witnessed you taking it which was not true. There was conflict between some in physical therapy and the nursing staff. Some in physical therapy would talk badly about other patients which is against HEPA One young man who worked on the weekends was always an hour late bringing my pain meds. Nurses on the night shift would come in and out to respond to different room mates I had and turn the light on and talk and make a lot of noise unnecessarily and sometimes stay in the room and talk to others. It was impossible to get any rest there. The beds are very old and collapse from time to time from their upright position when you are sitting up . Nurse's aids would forget to help me with showering; would say they would come back but never did. he food is inedible. One night I pulled my call cord and no one showed up for over half an hour. I had to tie extra ribbon onto the cord just to get it to reach my bed. A nurse didn't have water for me to take my pill one night and said she would come back but never did. I asked her about it the next day and she lied and said she was off that night. I asked her again and she yelled at me that I dare not accuse her of lying. Then the next day after I told her supervisor she finally admitted she was there. I felt I had to constantly humor almost all the staff there just to get basic needs met. Do yourself a favor, use any facility but this one even if it costs more. read more

Great nursing staff, Atrocious administration. My grandmother was here for rehab after breaking her leg. The nursing staff was (for the most part) excellent. The administration team, on the other hand, was a complete nightmare. While in for rehab, unfortunately my great grandfather (her father) passed away. On the day that he passed away, there was a fire alarm in the building. I have no issues with fire alarms, but what happened next shook me to my core. About 2 minutes into the fire alarm, one of the administrators walked into my grandmother's room to let us know she was shutting the door. No big concern there. But then she came back 15 minutes later and insisted on barging into the rooom, while I was trying to break the news of her father passing because the fire system said the fire was in her room. I told them it was not a.good.time, and they insisted. What absolutely infuriates me, is that my grandmother is bed ridden with a broken leg. She can not get out of bed by herself, and when they closed the door to her room, the closed the only line of communication she had with staff. It the took 15 minutes (after trapping her in a room that was supposedly on fire) for the staff to show up to check if there was actually a fire. If there had been a fire, and I hadn't been here, I believe my grandmother would not have survived. Be warned, great nurses, but very unsafe. read more

My mom entered the Victoria Care Center after suffering a brain injury. I couldn't ask for better care for my mom. I live long distance and getting updates and speaking with the professionals is so important to me. Leah, my mom's nurse is WONDERFUL! She takes my calls and is very comforting. I trust her as if she were taking care of her own mom. I have absolutely no complaints. My mom is making slow and steady progress in her recovery. I believe this is due to the excellent attention she is receiving at Victoria Care Center and she will be prepared to re-enter her life with more awareness and better education regarding personal safety to prevent another fall. Her husband of 35 years (my step dad) is by her bed daily and confirms my Mom receives her PT and all other necessary rehab. He also confirms the facility is clean and my Mom is kept clean. I did not want to go to rehab after my knee replacement, but gave in, and so glad I did. Not a perfect place, but as good as it gets. The care I received was excellent, most impressive were a couple of people--namely Sandra, a CNA! She is remarkable and one of the most caring and concerned people I have ever met. Outstanding in every way. Excellent Physical Therapy department -- Erin was my therapist. She was amazing, worked me hard, but was gentle at the same time. Occupational therapy also very good. I had Samantha (Sam) and sometimes Janna. Both were gentle, focused and kept me laughing! You are in good hands with these professionals, so ask for one of them if you can. The food----well, not the best, BUT, the chef will talk with you and ask what you like. I am gluten-free, so that was a bit of a challenge; however, he worked with me and it was all good. I got an ice cream sundae every day! Overall, I would recommend Victoria Care Center. I received good care, and everyone was friendly and tried to please. read more
