Things have changed substantially since my last visit I believe in 2019. Another year at my family's fundraiser celebration for a cousin that passed away from Epilepsy. Let's get right into it: I have never experienced a roller skating rink, where the DJ is cursing in between playing songs for people to skate to. SAY WHA!???!!! This is a place of recreational family fun with CHILDREN, seniors and other. Why in the world would you carry on in such a manner? WHY!? I just stood there with my mouth hanging open like "dear God this is not happening...Like why!?...". The music/the sound: The only way to describe in one word would be "horrible". Not sure at all what was happening with the speakers in this rink, but the music was distorted. Like having a huge speaker in the trunk of a vehicle and the music is muffled....kinda sketchy/grainy. When I think of the roller rink experience, music is a MAJOR part. That is what people skate to. Why does it sound so bad? I can't assume there are sound checks, lol. But how does one tell if the speakers and such are working at full capacity for a quality experience? *shrug* Lastly, the rental skates/skate room: I am not sure when half decent customer service went out the door, but it sure did make the process of obtaining skate rentals a chore. My family and I stood waiting for 10min for someone to assist us with getting skates. Just a long line of people standing around. Paid money to skate and no one is there to distribute the skates. Hellooooooo? Where are all the people!!?? I ended up having to go back to the front of the rink, finding someone, just to ask if someone would please send an employee to help all the people that were awaiting rental skates. *sigh* Once we received the skates, my 3 year old little cousin began to skate and the ENTIRE BACK OF THE SKATES WHEELS FELL OFF! Screws and all. Wow. Thank God she did not get injured and no one else. Imagine a small child skating, she falls because HER WHEELS FROM THE SKATE DETACH FROM THE SKATE. Yeah, that happened in real life. I will not lie, I was just disappointed to say the least. So, are these skates not getting "CALIBRATED and CHECKED"? No. It's a no. No way, no how. This is my experience. I tell no lies. I would suggest enter at your own risk. It was not a good time for me. And again, it was disappointing to say the least. Suggestion: Bring your own skates. Im being generous by giving this establishment 1 star. Customer service is bad! They won't be open for business much longer. Read the recent reviews. They get off by being mean-spirited. I attended my kids' daycare 20th year anniversary celebration here. Management stopped the celebration right in the middle of the raffle and made everybody leave with their raffle tickets in their hands 8 minutes before the raffle was supposed to be over.. the daycare wasn't allowed just 8 minutes to finish giving out gifts to all the families that came. Over 150 people left disappointed. A Miss K said that her boss told her to put us out before the next party started. Bogus!!! read more

I visited this skating rink on Saturday February 15, 2020. This place is the absolute worse. The condition of the skates are horrible. The skates have not been serviced or replaced in years. There was a little girl returning her skates because the back wheels fell off. This establishment should not rent skates, it should be bring your own. For birthday parties, the pizza is ordered from Dominos Pizza. It's appears that they have plenty of staff, but poor service. Honestly if I could give the rating a zero I would. I attended this establishment today and experienced one of the most terrible customer service situations in my life. To begin, the establishment is outdated, dirty and smells like the carpet hadn't been cleaned in years. There were hardly an COVID-19 precautions in place and I observed at least three health code violations in their refreshment area. Nevertheless, when it was time to leave my party one of the rudest women I've ever encountered begins to clean up our paid birthday table without warning (please note: we were already packing up on our own). She neglected 6 ft of space between us as she reached over our food, pulled table cloths with our personal items to prepare them to be trash and ignored several requests to allow us to pack up and move from the table on our own. Imagine going to a restaurant and your server begins to move your personal belongings and half eaten plates just because you weren't moving fast enough at the table close down time the establishment failed to mention. I asked for the manager in hopes that I could speak to a sane business manager who knew how to distinguish her personal relationship to rude employees vs the golden rules of basic customer service. Again, FAIL. The manager heard nothing I said nor did she reprimand her ignorant staff member who stood next to her and I spewing out further ignorance to justify her lack of customer service etiquette. I am an avid frequenter of black establishment, because #supportblackbusiness always, however I cannot give a pass and fail to warn anyone else of what you might encounter should you visit. My advice to this business is to take a he constructive criticism and treat your customers better. They are few and far between during the pandemics. Last, I work for a health department who was thinking of renting out the facility for a company event prior to today. Glenwood is a fun place to skate, but but but but the floor is a chipped-up mess and they have no intentions of fixing it apparently it's been like that for a while! You pay $10 to get in so you should have a decent floor to skate. The owner I'm told owns the skating rink in Tinley park where white people skate and it's better taken care of and they only pay $5. read more

I have only been to the Sunday adult skate from 10am till 2pm. I really like it here! It's 5 bucks to get in and it's never too crowded. Picture people over 40 and many over 50, figure-skating and doing the couples thing. There are a few rough spots on the outer edges of the floor, but your wheels will roll right over them. Music is what it says, smooth R&B, which is fine for an easy skate on a Sunday morning, but they could really play some older, more classic stuff from the 70's, considering the age group that dominates. Other than that, the place is pretty cool and they let you bring in your own bottled water. read more

Went to the night adult skate on Wednesday and had a BLAST! Somewhere I read they close at 12a but it doesn't end til 2a. I arrived at 1030 and the parking lot was pretty thick. I had to park in the back and it's a pretty big lot. Entry was $10. Cash only. There's an atm right inside but I wouldn't advise using. Small but quick line when I walked in. Lockers are a quarter. I moved down south so haven't been here in like 10yrs. Some money needs to be invested into the building. It's old and you can see traces of its age but the vibe was still AMAZING! The style and music are definitely distinct & exciting to watch - JB (James Brown) skate! A girl saw me and my brother trying some stuff. She and her friends showed us some moves so it's some friendly folks there. The floor looks scratched but rides smooth. DJ was bangin. Food looked good. We've decided to make this a tradition to skate here whenever we're both in town! 4 stars cuz the building needs repair & it's cash only but I will return regardless PS: please shorten the male / female only skate. They were out of my size skates, luckily I was able to squeeze into a 12. The first pair of skates had a hole in one of the shoes. The young girl quickly gave me a better pair of skates and I was able to skate. I enjoyed the music and felt safe and comfortable. The change machines were broken so I was unable to lock my shoes up, luckily I placed them into an empty locker and periodically checked on them. read more

Mr. Quitter, I've been a patron of this skating rink on and off ever since I could walk. I'm 38 years old. I took my 4 year old son skating for the first time today and he had a fun experience overall. The many children in attendance appeared to be having a blast as well. As a long time patron, I find it quite disturbing to find the skating rink in such a poor condition, considering the amount of people that frequent this establishment. There should be no reason to observe leaks from the ceiling in multiple locations. There was a large trash can placed on the rink floor to catch drips from the ceiling. This is a sure safety hazard. Additionally, I found the rental skates to be in very poor condition. The first pair I was given was clearly a mismatched pair of the same size. I noticed several other people with similar mismatched skates. An investment should be greatly considered to replace all of the rental skates for the safety of your patrons. I am curious to see how your other location is being managed and maintained. Hopefully these suggestions will be taken into great consideration & made to come to pass. OK so here's the thing. This place use to be the spot back when I was 16. My girls and I would stop by maybe every other weekend for gospel skating. My mom even gave me my 16th birthday party here. We were in love with Glenwood Roller Rink. Now fast foward 16 years later......exactly the same!!! My little godson had his birthday party here last night. We had a great time. Only thing...the place is very old and outdated. I think it looks exactly how it did when I was a teenager, even the same DJ..lololol... The skates are very old, I had to trade mine in 3 times for 3 different issues. I think that was a sign from God to leave the skating to the kids. Overall we had a good time. read more

My stepdaughter had a birthday party here. Very loud music, but kids have a lot of fun.

My husband and I brought our children here to attend a birthday and the overall experience was really nice! However, I did have a couple of issues with the place. First was with the outdated interior and the condition of the party room we were in. In the room, there are picnic tables with benches and while I can't say for the other tables, I know the table I was sitting at had a broke bench and the flooring was very uneven near our side. I tripped a couple of times as well as my son did and while no one got hurt, someone else easily could have. It's hard to tell the unevenness in the floor because it has dark carpeting over it but someone should definitely make the repairs to that area as soon as possible so no one will injure themselves and try to sue! Also, the rental skates are in poor condition. My husband had to trade his in for another pair because the shoe strings were badly worn and uneven so they couldn't be tied properly. The second pair he got didn't fit right and he complained about the metal part (that holds the shoe part of the skate) being wobbly and the skate didn't feel secure on that foot. But he skated anyway without incident, surprisingly, so I guess that's fine. Overall, we had a great time. The music selection was great and I liked how they dim the lights (while you skate) and change up everything. I wouldn't mind coming here again. read more

Attended the Thursday night Ramble from 11 pm to 3 am this Thanksgiving and had a blast! Entry was $10 which is not bad, considering it was a late night session on a holiday! The rink is a nice size and the floor is amazingly smooth, being one of the best floors that I have skated on so far! I was able to try more skate moves without the fear of falling! The music was JB style (James Brown) which I absolutely love listening and skating to! The crowd was packed with adventurous skaters who knew how to roll! The women's bathroom looked clean but the lockers are old thus stick, so I had to try various lockers and ultimately received help from a friendly tech who found me a large locker that worked! I didn't try the food b/c I didn't see anyone working the concession stand. They had vending machines for food and beverage but not much selection. Being here brought back many childhood memories since I used to skate here every weekend during my pre-teen years! I do plan to return on my next visit home! read more

The building is pretty old, smells damp, and poorly maintained . I went once with my family here, since it is close in my neighborhood. The sitting area next to the arena was wet(someone dropped drinks) and dirty, bread pieces were smashed on the floor. Overall the whole place stinks and not a healthy environment. I would rather drive further and skate in a better roller rink. read more
