Loved our two hour experience for two with Global Aviation Corp. Like many others we purchased a Groupon for this, and booked our time slot. It was extra special for us as we booked this on our first wedding anniversary and it was extremely memorable first time flying! Our instructor was fabulous and really made the whole experience feel safe from start to finish. I flew to Connecticut from Long Island, and my husband flew the route back. It was basically a roundtrip flight where each of us got to fly one-way! The other person sat in the back while the first person was flying. Our instructor also indulged us and took some pictures when we started and finished in each location and we even got little certificates to commemorate our first flight together! The only negative point I will make was that Global Aviation Corp does fully disclosing costs for gas and fees that were not mentioned in the fine print. It was an extra $100 or more if I remember correctly which they only told us on the phone when calling to make the appointment. I wish they would have had it in the fine print so customers do not go through with buying a Groupon without all the information/pricing first. Overall it was a fantastic time, and I would 100% recommend it to anyone for a really unique experience, solo or as a couple! read more

I proposed to my girlfriend using this!! :))) best decision ever!!! Firstly- A. Don't buy the groupon coupon. It's more expensive with it. Just call them and talk to them about it B. It's a good deal. They usually charge 250 bucks an hour for flying lessons. Whatever you pay, you'll pay for 2 people for about 2-3 hours. C. These are a bunch of really friendly guys who will take care in listening to you and ensuring you have a good experience D. I was filled with mixed feelings before I took the flight. I dint know how much of the flying I would be doing and how much the pilot would. We did the take offs ourselves, 99 percent of the steering and flying ourselves. The landing was the copilots responsibility (which is fine by me!) but everything else was us! And it was incredible. Our pilot was Ash and he was very very sporty. Great sense of humor and great guy! We were very very happy with our experience! I strongly recommend this to everyone!!!! read more

I've used them before and had a great experience. Honestly one of the besr experiences of my life. And thus bought it as a gift for a friend. Only to find out that he was called 10 minutes before his scheduled flying time, and told they're canceling. I understand that this happens because of weather. But calling 10 mins before is probably not the best thing to do considering he spent 40$ taking a train all the way from NYC to Farmingdale for this Would totally recommend for the experience. I received a discount code e mail from Bloomspot.com and knew a learn to fly trip was a prefect gift for Dad . And later I learned that this was a dream of Dad's since he was young. We were greeted in the lobby by Nicholas . He and his staff were so nice and gracious with their time. They let me follow Dad around with a camera through the instruction part of the class and the pre flight check . Nicholas directed me to a vantage point where I could view Dad's take off and landing and invited me to wait during the flight in the comfortable terminal lobby. As a classroom teacher of a Gifted and Talented Class (of 6th Graders) I was looking for some worthwhile activities for my class when we were selected to be a part of KidsDay. I contacted Global Aviation months before our trip and clear and concise communication began instantly. My children were excited to take part in an actual flight, and their parent chaperones were equally eager and motivated. About a week before the event, a small snow storm was predicted and they called me about postponing the trip. GREAT CALL! (Even our school was closed.) I appreciated the safety concerns which began even before we reached the airport! A few days later we arrived for what turned out to be a life-changing day. My children and parents were greeted as professionals from the moment we arrived. Cam made every child feel special and wanted and she and Brian answered their countless questions...and would do so all day. Their flight instructor Sam is on my list of 100 Long Islanders that everyone should know. He was calm, funny and full of encouragement. He is a retired Navy pilot and he even worked on the Lunar Module! My children went up once some fog lifted...again in the name of safety, and it was spectacular to watch them enter their planes with their parents in the back seat - sitting next to their instructors. Of course before boarding, Sam and Brian taught the children how to conduct a thorough pre-flight check. Watching the children prepare to taxi onto the runway was wonderful. Seeing their ear to ear grin when they returned from Connecticut was the icing on the cake. I should mention the tour of the tower, the pizza, the cleanliness of the facility and the positive attitude coming from everyone we met at Global. This was the perfect place to introduce a child (or an adult) to aviation. And an exceptional facility to get a pilots liscense. Safe travels...always! read more

I flew!!! I never, ever thought I would learn how to fly a plane (I'm terribly afraid of heights) but my boyfriend bought me an introductory flight lesson for my birthday. As a result, we found ourselves 1,000 feet up in the air one Saturday. Our instructor, Ash, was REALLY laid-back and made us feel completely at ease. I thought we would have to sit through an orientation but he basically just led us to the plane - a tiny one, at that - and then showed us how to fly it from within the plane. We both got to take off, fly for a while, and then Ash would land. We got to fly over Fire Island on the most beautiful, clear day to a nearby airport. There are a few different routes you can choose from. It WAS a little scary to be so high up but the instructor is always guiding you and can take over as needed. Afterwards they gave us a free T-shirt and certificate. You can also get your pilot license through this company. Overall it was a badass experience and I'm so thrilled I got to experience it! Keep in mind there's a fuel charge (should be written in the fine print) and tip is not included. read more

My friend Al B. had been gifted a flying instruction lesson and asked if I wanted to be his guest. We checked in with Brian at the desk this past Saturday afternoon, and he was helpful in getting us checked in. We actually ended up getting the option to have each of us fly one leg of the trip. The coupon did not include fuel, and so each of us paid $59. Our instructor was Asim (Brian introduced him as "Mr. Awesome") but really, he was a fabulous teacher and I highly recommend him. He had been flying since he was like 15, and was really patient and super calm throughout the instruction. He would give an overview of what we were about to do, and then talk us through it when we were actually doing it. I loved that "heads up" attitude because I was incredibly nervous. Super great attitude and really knowledgable. We flew to Connecticut (probably a 30-45 minute trip?) and then switched places. We spent around 20 minutes there while they filled the gas tanks up. The whole lesson and time spent there was about 3.5 hours, including wait time on the runway (it was a gorgeous day so a lot of people were flying). Highly recommend the place and it's worth the trek. read more

So i bought a living social from this place and like it was cool but i feel as though i got robbed. Not only did i have to pay for the living social lesson i also had to pay for the gas of the plan for each person. like wouldn't you think that was included? Apart from that i bought a two person lesson and the day before the lesson they call and tell me their is a weight limit on the plane of 400lbs and that both people couldn't ride. I understand that because the plane is small but they told me either one of us rides for 45 min or 90. but thinking about it why couldn't we both ride for 45 individually? My boyfriend was the one who ended up driving since it was a gift for him that's why is a 4 star. He had a great time and loved flying, He also said the instructor was nice but didnt explain much about the plane. Would i do it again probably not. read more

We spent couple days in New York and wanted to do something for the first time for the whole family. We ended up taking flight lessons at global aviation. We were a family of four but couldn't fit in one plane because we do need the instructor to help fly the plane lol .... So my husband flew me in one plane and my 12 year old son flew my 7 year old daughter in another plane so it all worked out great. I have to admit it was well worth the money for an experience of a lifetime. We even had videos of us flying the plane from the inside and were able to take pictures of Long Island New York from a bird's eye view. The kids couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had and how amazing it was. Want to say thanks to the global aviation crew that was very informative on what package was available for us to all fly and special thanks to the flight instructors John and Brian. Went up with Luimey. Great guy. It was great getting back into the pilot seat after a few years away. Luimey really just let me do my thing. He did what the company S.O.P would be (land the plane) but other than that, it was all me. I highly recommend this company to everyone. I am getting back into the flying zone again and will be using them for the rest of my licenses. I was a little intimidated at first, taking the controls on the plane, but the instructor put us at ease and it ended up being a great experience. My husband all of a sudden wants to get a pilots license. The people that worked there were also very accommodating. The facility was very clean and we even got free coffee. Redeemed our Living Social voucher today and everything went extremely smooth and well. My wife and 11 year old soon took the dual lesson and they had a blast. Brian, the coordinator, was extremely helpful and friendly to our entire family. We were all allowed onto the tarmac to observe the plane inspection/walk through and to take photos. Roy the instructor was also wonderful...friendly and patient. The weather wasn't great so my wife and son said they flew up and down the beach line which was quite scenic...otherwise they would have flown to CT under better conditions; no regrets though. My boyfriend and I did a flight lesson together about a month ago. Our instructor was fantastic and very informative. Seeing as how we are in a long distance relationship, my boyfriend and I upgraded to include a video to capture our flight. We only get to see each other a few times a year so the video was well worth the $40 and we were very much looking forward to receiving it. After our flight, we were e-mailed the video only to see that it was of completely different people. After several e-mail exchanges we were informed that the video had been lost and we were only offered a reimbursement for those $40 out of the total $300 we spent. We received no apology. We tried contacting the flight school several times both by e-mail and phone to find out if we could try harder to find the video or be offered some sort of further reimbursement for this mistake. After a month of trying to contact Global Aviation, we finally got in touch with the manager, Brian. He said the camera malfunctioned, offered no apologies, and said there's nothing they can do. I understand that mistakes happen- technical glitches occur and files get lost. However, this video meant a lot to us and we definitely deserved more than a nasty attitude, no apology, and a $40 refund. I work in customer service and would have NEVER handled the situation like this- if you're a company that specializes in special moments like flight lessons, you should place more value on properly capturing this moment and taking appropriate responsibility if and when you screw it up. They eventually offered me a free video if we choose to fly again but why would I do that? So they can lose that video too and be unapologetic for that as well? No thanks. read more

What wasn't great was when I booked the lesson, I was told there was an additional $30 fuel charge, then when I got there for the lesson and was charged an additional $12 on top of that in tax. I bought a livingsocial deal for a helicopter lesson as a gift for my boyfriend because he's always dreamed of becoming a helicopter pilot and we're finally at a time when we can try to see that happen. We rented a car from the City, drove 2+ hours out there, only to discover that they had booked it for a plane lesson. Turns out my boyfriend didn't use the right "link" and had only given the voucher number (which was specifically for a helicopter lesson), and the person who booked it at the company assumed it was for a plane ride. The persons who apparently "did us a favor" by taking his reservation despite not having done in through the right link insisted that we would have to come back another day because their sole helicopter pilot was gone for the day. They also blamed us for not specifying - again our voucher was only for a helicopter ride, and I would think their business should know to clarify if they offer different types of flight lessons. I would have come back, even spent money again for a car rental, but for your staff's stinky attitude. Next time you do someone a favor like you claim, do it right. You lost yourself a potential life-long helicopter flyer. read more

LOVED global aviation Corp and my experience with them from start to finish! I bought this for my husband for his birthday. My total was $186. It was a 2 hr experience and I got to ride along in the plane. I called to book it and the person on the other line was professional and so patient with my millions of questions. I wound up having to change the date and time a few times to work with our schedule but it was painless and I did it quickly and easily. We got a little lost on the way, but I called and they guided me turn by turn to their location. Our instructor was awesome! W arrived and the instructor gave us a detailed explanation and walk through of what to check as a pilot. We got in, and the instructor taxied us to the take off spot. My husband did the take off and all of the flying on his own! It was amazing! He loved it! Once we got to an open space over water he was allowed to turn and fly in any direction (within reason) that he wanted. The only part the instructor did was the landing, which was fine. I purchased an intro flight for my daughter Sophia and she was nervous and afraid. The Global staff did their very best to make her comfortable and confident, but she decided she couldn't do it and wasn't ready. Brian then took us inside and let Sophia fly the simulator which made her feel better. Brian was totally understanding and said that whenever my daughter was ready she could come back and receive full credit for the initial purchase. We left it at that, and Sophia and I left. About 15 minutes later, Brian called me and told me that Margarita, a female instructor, had just landed and wanted to speak to Sophia. We went back and Margarita took us out to the plane and we sat in the plane with the engine off and went over all the instruments. Sophia felt more comfortable with the aircraft and agreed to try again. Before long we had lifted off the runway and had taken to the skies with Sophia at the controls. The fear was gone and the only thing left was a huge smile on Sophia's face for the duration of the flight. Margarita had taken the time to make my daughter comfortable and confident at the controls of the aircraft. I have created life long friends through this business. To begin; they are committed to doing things safe and by the book. I'm sorry if you feel it is a nice day to fly, or you are too excited to take your first lesson; they will tell you whether it is or not. I earned my private pilot license from this school, and will be a life long member until I either move, or the FAA tells me I cannot fly anymore. They only hire the best of the best instructors. The employees of Global are very accommodating within reason. I started out flying with a complete fear of flying, and made it to the point where I can fly by myself. Part of this is determination, and part of this is being with a group of people who know how to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I can guarantee they will tell you stories about my first flight. Even after earning my license I still have doubts, and their employees will always steer me in the right direction. I do not think any other school would be able to make me feel the way I do. I do not work for them, I have not been paid to write this review. Writing this review for them is only out of sheer disgust that anyone would ever give them a bad review. I am an honest pilot who believes that they are staying true to their business plan. I will personally take time out of my life to meet you in person if you have any doubt. They want, and can, teach the world how to fly.
