My elementary school aged children and I have been part of the SOR family for about 3 years...my son takes piano and guitar and is in the performance program. My daughter takes piano and drums. I have done the tour of music schools in the area and consider myself an expert of sorts and thankfully we found School of Rock Roslyn! I cannot say enough about the staff at school of rock roslyn. It is because of them that I have referred so many students, children and adults, to the school. The level of devotion and professionalism astounds me every week. If I ever have any concerns, they are handled by Ashley and the staff on the spot to my satisfaction. The teachers are all seasoned musicians who take the time to teach to the individual students' needs and learning style, not just rote from a book. My kids feel understood, inspired and for my son especially, this school has changed his life..he is really into music and sometimes has had difficulty finding peers with similar interests but he has found his home at SOR. Pete is invaluable..he is truly passionate about what he does and works outside of school hours for his students. My kids LOVE coming there.! School of Rock Roslyn is awesome. It's definitely the best place to learn about music and develop the skills needed to play in a band. Not only that, but it truly is a home away from home where you can learn, make new friends, and be yourself. Pete and the rest of the staff at the school care so much, and work so hard to make sure the school is a great place. I attended SOR Roslyn for about 4 years, and I wouldn't trade my experience there for anything. My life would be so different if I never went to School of Rock. I not only learned so much about music, but also grew as a person in so many ways. When I started at School of Rock Roslyn, I was scared to sing or perform in front of anyone. I never would have thought that I'd one day perform on stage at venues such as the Highline Ballroom in NYC and Summerfest, the world's largest music festival. My time at School of Rock Roslyn helped me realize my passion and potential, and I'm now studying music in college. School of Rock Roslyn has so many great programs and opportunities and there is something for everyone. The people at the school are great, and it honestly feels like a family. We love School of Rock, Roslyn! After taking the trial lesson that's offered, my son wanted to sign up for guitar lessons. That was a little over 3 1/2 years ago and he's been with SOR ever since. It's amazing how much he's progressed -- he now plays both guitar and bass and also wants to learn how to play drums. He plays continuously with the band throughout the year and just recently finished two of the summer camps. He's performed in numerous shows - at some really cool venues: The Highline Ballroom NYC, Mulcahy's, Revolution & Portfest just to name a few. The kids are great, the staff is wonderful. They're comprised of a group of very talented musicians with a lot of varied experience in the music industry. They teach, they mentor and they truly inspire these kids. This place honestly changed my life. I am a 17 year old musician and i got started at the school of rock 4 years ago. When I first started playing music I knew nothing. But the staff at the school of rock taught me so much and made me the musician and the person I am today. The people at the school are not just music teachers, they are mentors that help you every step of the way and make you feel like family. I feel like the school is my second home. The school creates a community that is like no other.
