Did my intro fly a couple years ago the CFI was very nice as well as the front desk employees. Planes were well maintained mostly equipped with glass cockpits. Trying to schedule with Gina is an exercise in futility, even after numerous complaints from multiple students the owner refuses to reach out to offer a simple apology which would have smooth everything out. My experience at Nassau Flyers was very mixed. For some context, I am a currently a student pilot and have had a long process of working on my private pilot license, mainly due to a variety of aircraft, airport, and flight school/instructor switches along the way. About two years ago, I transitioned from flying Cessnas to Cirrus, and more I recently moved to New York from Los Angeles, and had to find a new flight school to continue my Cirrus training. My flight school in Los Angeles had recently removed their Generation 3 SR20 from their lineup and replaced it with two Generation 6 models. Nassau, having multiple G6 SR20s to choose from, stood out to me as I could begin my G6 transition and familiarization with them. Along with that, I was hoping to complete all of my required night hours, and acquaint myself with Farmingdale airport and the surrounding area. I took multiple lessons with a skilled, friendly, albeit 'time-building' instructor, who after a short break from flying had left the school to fly for the airlines. There was no communication from this instructor nor the staff at Nassau flyers to myself about continuing to fly with another instructor. This was discouraging when I reached out to schedule another lesson and was initially asked if I'm "interested in taking flying lessons" and then after explaining, was told my instructor was no longer there. I have had a relationship with this company for over 7 months, have rented their aircraft, trained with their instructors, spent time in their facilities speaking with their CSRs, yet not being remembered multiple times while calling to schedule lessons was disappointing, and left me with a very impersonal connection to this flight school that felt distinctly unprofessional. Starting this year, the pricing structure has changed and requires a membership to be purchased to begin or continue training, which includes a minimum of 6 months of monthly dues plus an upfront membership fee. I will be moving out of the country in 2 months and was looking to finish my training with Nassau, but there was zero flexibility or interest displayed on their end in helping me to make that happen, as it didn't make sense for me to become a member if I'm going to not be in the country for over half of my membership period. Obviously I understand that they have rules to follow when it comes to membership, but the lack of understanding or interest in having me continue my training with them was disheartening. If you need to fly a G6 SR20 and can find an instructor there that you mesh well with, and the pricing structure works for you, there are little to no other options in the area from my research, but if you are just looking to learn to fly and are passionate about aviation and want to build a lasting relationship with a company that will help you achieve that goal, I would look elsewhere. In short, I believe this flight school has a high quality fleet of aircraft, yet when it comes to interaction with and care for their customers from my time there, in the end the experience was not positive. read more

Came to the Big Apple with my hubby for the holidays. He is currently a student pilot, and we were looking to do a discovery flight of Manhattan. We reached out to every single flight school in New York and New Jersey, and this was the only school that had a Sirrus plane, and the only school that was open and willing to take us on such short notice. I am disgusted with my experience at Nassau Flyers. Mainly at Gina. I Was charged a $175 cancellation fee due to no fault of anyone, but ABSOLUTLEY out of no fault of mine. The first instructor I was originally paired up with (Who will remained unnamed because I actually like him), had 350 hours total flight time with a few years lapse in flying and instructing at the time I was paired with him. I opted to change instructors at that time. My next instructor is an amazing instructor and true professional. Be wary of this school. They do NOT care about the spirit of aviation. They will pair you with an unqualified instructor just to make a buck out of you. If I could give ZERO stars I would. read more

I took my flying lessons at Nassau Flyers and the management and staff at the school are professional and friendly . From the first lesson all the way through to the checkride the service and attention giving to student pilots is 100% . I was glad I picked Nassau flyers and now that the they have added more aircraft to the list its more of a reason for me to put my license to use . Onsite Pilot store makes it very easy to update charts etc and the fact that the school is a 5 minute cab ride from the farmingdale LIRR station make the commute from NYC so much easier . if your looking for flying lessons in a single engine piper cherokee , a cessna 172 with glass cockpit or your ready for the big time and a cirrus sr22 or you want to try your hand at the aviat husky tail wheel , then Nassau flyers is the place for you . my review is over , its time to fly .! happy flying and safe blue skies .! read more

Haven't actually flown with them yet (got my boyfriend an intro flight lesson as a gift last year) but this is in regards to their customer service and communications. Listen, Nassau Flyers, I get flights need to be cancelled for reasons out of your control - bad weather and whatnot. That's fine. What's NOT fine is calling us one hour before our appointment and cancelling on us, when we've already spent over $40 on train tickets to get out to Long Island from Brooklyn (which we clearly stated in our email communications with you was our mode of transportation). Two hours' notice - which is what you CLAIM is your standard notification policy - would have saved us a lot of time wasted on LIRR, not to mention the money. Now we have to spend another $40+ to get out there and fingers crossed that you keep our appointment this time. Especially since you don't seem interested in reimbursing us or doing ANYTHING to make up for your mistake. Once this gift certificate's used up, can't say I'm motivated to bother with this place again. read more

As good as it gets. I was just like you - I wanted to fly but thought it was "impossible" or atleast reserved for certain people only. It was a dream until I stepped into Nassau Flyers. They make it EASY, SAFE, COST EFFECTIVE & Chrun you into a serious pilot. They aim not only to make you into a pilot but a SAFE and confident pilot. There is a big difference between being a pilot and being a safe pilot. The equipment is new, clean and well maintained. It's a nice building, nice hanger and overall a pleasure to hang out at. Other flight schools felt dark, dirty, and "slapped together"....some still use paper and pencil for their books. Nassau Flyers is "up to date" - they're not affraid to grow with technology. There is a sense of togetherness and branding at Nassau Flyers. Something that helped a whole lot when I was learning to fly. Here is why I choose Nassau Flyers over the other flight schools at KFRG - The largest fleet meant scheduling never was an issue - The newest planes I could find being offered by a flight school - Price was very competitive - Their website allows me to schedule online without having to call. - Their website provides a plethora of information for student pilots - Instructors care, I found most other schools had instructors that just wanted to build their hours to hop into the airlines. NFI employes "Career Instructors" they are patient, always re-training and stick with you from beginning to end and re-occurent training After I got my license (without a single hiccup other than weather once in awhile), I continue to do business there as a renter. Much better places elsewhere at Republic. Flew here as a student for a while. Rates on all aircraft are overpriced, front desk prefers to sell you more items/upgraded aircraft rather than help you and your wallet out. Flight instructors don't care about you if you're doing a first flight or don't fly the Cirrus. Hope others will learn from my mistake and start with operations on the other side of the field. read more

I bought my bf a groupon for a "90 minute flight lesson" at Nassua Flyers for xmas last year. We finally got around to using it and it was awesome!! What I, the skeptic, was expecting: -expected a bunch of classroom or simulator work and maybe a 40 minute flight at the end of the lesson -expected not to be allowed to take my own pics or video and then asked to purchase a souvenir pic/video from the company It was so easy to call and make the appointment, even calling back to change the original appointment to the next day was done without a hassel. We're off to a good start. Everyone was so professional and nice. The pilot took us straight out to the Cessna and explained to my bf everything he was doing. We all hopped right in the plane, me in the backseat and bf in the Captains seat, began the pre-flight checks, etc, taxied to the runway and took off! It was so amazing! The pilot was so nice and encouraging, explaining everything and pointing out cool stuff we were flying past (Long Beach, The Rockaways, over the Verrazano, Statue of Liberty, WTC site, Central Park, and on and on!!!) along the way. It was like those tourist flights they do in Manhattan except my bf was flying the plane so it was a total twofer! Plus I was allowed to take pics and video the WHOLE time!!! After we landed, he showed us how to park the plane, set the brakes, etc. then we went in the classroom where he answered any and all of our questions and then filled out my bf's new flight logbook cause it counts toward your hours if you go for your license :) Such an awesome day! LONG STORY SHORT: -All the BS I was expecting was non-existent! -I was encouraged to take pics and video! -We spent at least 90 minutes on the plane with 95% of that being in the air!! -It was a flight lesson plus tour of New York all in one! Instead of feeling like I got "what I PAID for" (a discounted groupon rate, sometimes equals discounted customer service) I left feeling like I ripped them off! read more

Nassau Flyers runs a top-notch operation. I have been involved in aviation most of my life, starting with flying lessons at age 16; that was 44 years ago. I flew as a flight instructor for several years and eventually became an air traffic controller. Over the years, I have flown with a good number of flight operations. I have now been flying with Nassau Flyers for almost 20 years and none of those other operations/flight schools come close to the absolute courtesy and professionalism displayed by Nassau Flyer's flight instructors, front desk personnel, management, and maintenance personnel. Among the best maintained aircraft I've ever rented.

I learned to fly here at Nassau Flyers, and for the most part, their instructors are good and knowledgeable. However, a couple of rotten apples in the front office have spoiled it for me! I've found this school regularly "milks" their loyal paying customers and overcharges for unnecessary additional training. CFI's gouge students with "ground instruction" after a flight when they are actually running to catch up with the next sucker. They tell good students with more than 50 hours that are not ready to solo. What they really mean is: "We haven't taken ALL of your money yet". Now that I have my PPL, and more than 400 hours under my belt, these people STILL insult my intelligence! I have spent more than $20,000 in training, aircraft rentals, and aircraft maintenance over the last three years and they STILL try to milk me for unnecessary aircraft "issues". They create their own interpretation of the Federal Aeronautical Regulations and talk down to student pilots like they are children. The fact is, I'm old enough to be the father of most of their instructors and staff. One of their front desk people is very rude and condescending to the point that she forgets who is actually paying her salary. I emailed the owner twice about this and he did not dignify me with a response - which actually IS a response to what they think of their customers. My response is not to do any further business with them. In this economy, you have a lot of quality choices for flight instruction. Shop around and compare before getting sucked in with this outfit. read more
