A year ago I starting planning a move (my building is being torn down to build $$$ condos so I have to go). I'm disabled, I do some computer work from home and run a web/email server to myself, and a few friends - therefore high-speed internet is essential. As I was looking at new places to live, I checked with Global Capacity (my long-time provider since back when it was Covad) to make sure DSL would be available. I verified 3 times that I would be able to get DSL at the new place *before* I signed a contract, and had a new manufactured/mobile home built to accommodate my disability issues. Once the home was delivered to the mobile home park, I got a phone line put in and requested that DSL service be moved. At that point, I was informed that DSL is NOT available there. What ?!?*! I already knew that mobile home park didn't have cable (i didn't care, I don't subscribe to cable TV, and Global Capacity had assured me that DSL was available). There is NO high speed internet available at this location unless I pay $300 a month for a T-1 from Global Capacity. I am totally screwed - I have spent my life savings to have a small home of my own, and of course still owe money on it (and have to pay mobile home park monthly rent) but I can't actually earn a living to pay for it without having high-speed internet. And still the Global Capacity sales people keep calling me telling me they would be happy to sell me service at the new location - they don't know what they're talking about! Stay away from these incompetent people. read more

Horrible. We ended up with them because we'd been with another company that they bought. A couple weeks ago I called tech support because our service was out (again) and hadn't come back on for several days (usually before they'd insist it was nothing on their end, but service always resumed after I called). They sent a tech out who replaced the modem. I had talked to a couple of reps to make sure I wouldn't be charged (I would have quit my account and found another provider) and assured that I would not be. We have these guys as our T1 lines providers. They have been nothing but a disappointment for us. We use their lines for our VOIP phone systems and our phones have been down since 2,3 or 4 am who knows since when. We are told there is a problem with one of the routers. What a joke we have faced this a bunch of times and for some reason AT&T blames then and they blame AT&T. If I had a choice I would take our business somewhere else. read more

I have consistently had a very poor experience with Global Capacity. We have had them as our internet service at my medical clinic. Here are just some of the issues we have ran into with this company. 1. I sent the company 2 different emails about my challenges and asking for help; never received a response and that was over two weeks ago! 2. I had a T-1 line installed. They said it would take up to 30 days to install...it took 60 days. Once it was installed I was never notified it had been installed or was I given any of the technical data needed so we could utilize and access the T-1 line. 3. When I called to get the technical data needed to utilize the line the tech told me he was not able to email me all the different things I needed. He said it was on his screen but was not allowed to send it to me. Makes no sense! He then said I was supposed to have received that info via email when my T-1 line went live...but I didn't get that email. 4. Their customer service is very poor. Given all the problems we have had, we have had to talk with tech support and billing many times and consistently they are not helpful and even rude. 5. Sonya the manager was supposed to call & email me the very next day. 10 days later still no call and no email. When I called her, she was defensive and rude. She even refused to transfer me to her supervisor. 6. Given all the problems and very poor communication and customer service, they are not willing to let my company out of our agreement. When Global Capacity does not take care of their customers they should be more graceful when their customers want to leave and go work with a different company. I strongly recommend if you are considering using Global Capacity I would pass and find a bigger company that is run much more professionally. read more

I work for a communications company who interfaces with Global Capacity. WOW!!! It shocks me this company exists a market with as much competition as there is. They are terrible when it comes to trouble shooting and communicating their needs. I work an off tour and between the voice over IP (always a bad idea with long haul calling) and the language barrier it's just a joke to get anything done. I had to get a callout for one of my technicians to work with GC because the man I was working with "couldn't see me".. I spent a LOT of money to get one of my tech's out and when I had him on site and got them on the phone I was given to another "tester" on their side. He said he saw us and the trouble was not at that location. ????? Obviously I will bill them but that's just an indication as to what we/you potentially deal with. I advise strongly against entering into business with Global Capacity. Global Capacity took over my ADSL line by purchasing MegaPath (who had already purchased Speakeasy). The line serves my VPN for work, my second (home) business and personal Internet access. In 10 years, I made 2 or 3 calls for service interrupts with those previous entities, and each was fixed same day. Last week my service no longer functioned Thursday evening after 10p. I called Friday to ask for assistance and reached a rep who spoke extremely poor English. 45 minutes later, after many holds for "checking," I was told that the carrier was fine, the issue was "on GC's side." No tech rep was available for FOUR DAYS! So I called Billing to cancel my "service." After hearing my story, she was concerned enough to call the service desk herself to speak with a supervisor and get emergency assistance. When she came back on the line, she said, "a supervisor will call you within 2 hours." We verified my phone number and email address. No call. No email (duh). Zero further communication. Four days later, I received a phone call from a tech rep who was knocking on my home door - why wasn't I there? After explaining that I was at work and had no knowledge of his service call, he suggested we meet TWO MORE days later at a specific time. I agreed, with trepidation. 30 minutes later I received a call from the original service rep, still speaking unintelligible garbage ("What did you say? "Please repeat that." Instead, she spoke faster and raised her voice.) There was "no availability" for that time and date that the tech rep and I agreed upon. It would have to be "Friday" - a full week after my service went down. When I explained that I was unavailable due to an all-day meeting that I was running at my primary place of work, she continued to state, well, Friday was the first availability for a tech rep. I hung up and called to cancel my service. After repeating my story, I was sent an email (interestingly, that one arrived at my place of business without being asked for an alternate e-dress!) asking me to fill out many questions about why I was discontinuing service. I replied extensively, same as above, and have heard zero since that time (10/5). I also stated clearly that they had better not bill my card on file for anything further. Horrible customer service, they did some onsite work for us after a trouble call and no one was notified or informed of the work being completed. We called to see what was done...and if there was a charge. They confirmed a cable was replaced and there would be a charge. We asked what this charge would be and were told they could not tell us what the charge would come out to until the 26th...21 days to figure out what it cost to replace a cable!?!? Note this is after repeated outages they did not detect on their end. read more

Global Capacity contracts with Earthlink to provides landiine phone service which we have w/ Earthlink. Four days ago our phone went dead. Earthlink has been unable to get Global Capacity to fix the problem. They have no idea when phone may be fixed. Incredible! read more

I was transferred to Global Capacity from Megapath a while back. I recently received a bill from Comcast, which is who Global Capacity gets my service line from. The Comcast bill was sent to me because Global Capacity didn't pay Comcast. The bill from Comcast was $80 and the bill from Global capacity for that line is $167. I called Global Capacity asking why the discrepancy and he lied to me about what services Global Capacity was providing beyond what the Comcast line was already providing. As an example he said Global Capacity provided the last mile of service. When I said that Comcast installed the line and the modem he finally admitted that Global Capacity is overcharging me for no additional service. He said I should just cancel my service with Global Capacity. I would not get involved with these guys if you can help it. read more

Not only did they provide spotty service on a dedicated T-1 line for our business, but they took no responsibility for the disconnect. When we cancelled the service immediately after our contract was expired, they continued to send us invoice and eventually to collections. Very disappointed. read more

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Customer service is non-existent.

Most unprofessional and incompetent personnel I have had to deal with. 5 calls, several hours on the phone, numerous promises and telling me they would call right back and they never have. Wasted countless hours of my time and received zero results. Avoid this company at all costs. The internet is full of similar negative reviews related to this company and their inability to accomplish anything. Cancelled my service and never want to hear this name again. read more

RUN SCREAMING FROM THIS DISHONEST, CORRUPT, THOROUGHLY INEPT COMPANY Okay, so on December 14th, I made the mistake of calling my internet provider to complain that the service was spotty. They did a test and said, yes, something is wrong, we'll send a tech out to check it out for you." A few days later the tech shows up and "fixes it." He says the service will be back up in about an hour, once the home office turns the repaired service back on. Of course, the service didn't go back on in an hour, or even by the end of the day. So I call again and they say, "sorry, we're still working on it." Another day goes by, and several more phone calls, each one starting from scratch, totaling hours on hold, until they say they need to send another tech the following day. That tech spends hours here and can't seem to fix it. Fast forward... THREE WEEKS of this nonsense. HOURS on the phone. NUMEROUS tech visits. No internet. Finally, I tell them to forget it. Just cancel the service. I'll get another provider. They apologize numerous times, and send me the paperwork to cancel. A week later, I get a bill for the current month. I have to call back yet again, to get them to credit the account. This takes several phone calls and emails and lasts a week, before finally getting the credit. Fast forward to this morning. I get an email invoice from them charging $650 for an "early termination fee". I call back yet again. The woman on the phone remembered me, was sympathetic, and said she would take care of it. I just now receive a call from a "supervisor," saying I had, in fact, violated the terms of my contract, by not giving them enough time to fix the problem, and owed them the $650, and if I didn't pay them, they would send the bill to collections. To be clear, I was a long time customer, paid on time every month without an issue, and literally gave them WEEKS to fix the problem. Not only did they not fix the problem, but the last tech who came to try to fix the issue said it was a huge problem, caused by a construction site a block away, which will take a while to fix. So, needing my internet to work to do my job, and already having spent three full weeks running to a cafe to get my work done, I called to cancel my service and get a new provider. Not once did any of the numerous people I spoke with at the company inform me of an "early termination fee." Instead, they were apologetic and said they would "take care of the cancelation." So, when a $650 bill arrived a few weeks later, I was surprised. The supervisor who called me back had a completely different tone. Her only concern was pointing out the fine print in my contract, which basically says, "in the event we don't provide you with service.... tough shit, pay us a huge fee." Outrageous. Morally bankrupt. Global Capacity. Run screaming from them. I CAN HONESTLY SAY, THIS EXPERIENCE WAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST CONSUMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY 44 YEARS OF LIFE ON EARTH.
