An update since my 1st review. I was able to obtain a loan with a cash out of $125k in 3 weeks without having to order a new appraisal. No, there is nothing that GEF can do for me now. They should have just completed the refi in the first place with the $50k cashout instead of stringing me along for 3 monthes with false hopes. I began the refi process in Feb 2025. I was upfront from the beginning about my property's uniqueness. SFR built in 1945, before permits were required, with main house, an ADU & a 3 car garage conversion that owner resides in. All independent structures. We passed the qualifying requirements & appraisal was ordered. This came back with $400k equity. In March, Director of Mortgage Operations, Andrew Alvarez, RECKLESSLY instructed me to not pay my current mortgage company for April & May. Good thing I'm not naive. He continued to make me believe that the loan will be closing soon. 05 May 2025 was the last day A. Alvarez has contacted me. 30 days ago. At this point, I figured that underwriting doesn't like that my homes are not permitted even though the county has confirmed that they are recognized & grandfathered in due to the fact these homes were built 20 yrs before permit requirements, There has not even been a denial letter issued at this point. I hate that I have spent all this time & money on an appraisal that they require but I have to pay to only get ghosted. This lender is looking for easy straightforward properties so that they can sell your loan. read more

Received one of these letters into mail about final notice for Home Insurance. So I called the 1 800 number. Lady answered the phone, then gave me over to their plight. Gentlemen. I asked a few questions. He couldn't give me the answer. I asked him to give me everything in writing and he was pushing the 30 day. Return policy. I don't even know when I'm buying but it was great though cause everything's covered. But when I ask questions I couldn't get answers so I would not recommend something like this. It could be like car shield. They say they cover everything. And then once they get your money, you're out the loss of the money and you're probably not covered because they don't stand behind. This is an interesting company, but not for everyone. I had a hard to place loan that I was shopping. The Broker that I usually use was unable to help me, but GEF had access to lenders that could fulfill my needs. First, they are vultures, contacting you when you have used the internet for referrals and maybe working with someone already and a bit on the questionable side. They have a standard script they use in their customer contact that is a bit nauseating, but you can just put-up with it. Questionable activities are 1) insisting you use their 'preferred' Appraisers and closing agents when you have a right to select your own. 2)They are required to disclose certain things which is not done in a timely manner. They have high prices for the whole process, but with my loan they certainly earned the high commission they wanted. In short, if you are looking for a simple loan placement, you are probably better off using someone else. Their closing unity, Stewart Title, is horrible and there is a lot of aggravation that can be avoided. While they want to come off as your friend, the reality is they are surviving in a cutthroat business. The old saying "buyer be ware" is certainly true with them. All this being said, I am very glad to have worked and worked and worked with them to get my loan. read more

Was told I would get the appraisal fee back after funding was completed. I called was told they would return money to credit card used for appraisal. I waited a week and checked the credit card daily it was never there. Call back and was told was not getting it and was hung up on. Keep calling back and no one answered . I left messages and chated on the website that I would like to talk to the owner or President of the company as of this post I still have not heard from anyone. Is there a minus 1 rating for this company? After two weeks of nonsense, now we are being told we need to do another pest test and a water sample. This shouldn have been communicated to us after or before the appraisal. Quite a few of these business in our local are are either going on, on, limited staff or planning their vacation with their families. We were also told by our loan advisor that since this is a VA refinance that the permanent residence location was a VA requirement and or is not, according to the VA. I was also advised to get the broken lift that my husband built for his disability needs, needs to be inspected by a contractor. Why? The lift does not work. The contractor would just report that it's a safety hazard due to it being inoperable. So why would we waste money we don't really have for an inspection that does not need to happen? Lastly, our loan officer Giovanni Martinez indicated that we needed to make sure that our inspection and or inspectors for the water and pest should be someone and a company that is reputable and not a cousin. Unprofessional for him to say that. Why he felt he needed to say that is beyond our understanding. At this point we are beyond frustrated, we have been deceived, taken advantage of and grossly misinformed of what institution needs what documents, and if they need them at all. We demand another loan officer. One who really knows their job. I have set a call from our mortgage company. I want to hear from the horses mouth what they require instead of Global Equity Finance. They seem to place blame, ownership and misinformation on others instead of themselves. Asking for more money for the appraiser to come back out to our home is abhorrent. We have no clue where to turn or what to do now.... read more

The multiple calls to my personal number have been unsolicited on my part. I'm not certain how to get across the fact that I am going with a different lender and that paperwork has already been signed . Both agents who have contacted me don't seem to be interested in actually listening to what I am telling them . Hopefully this review will get the point across. This company lacks professionalism specifically with its loan officers. The loan officer that was provided to me picked up my call and asked to place me on a brief hold. I waited for more than 10 minutes for him to pick up the call again. On top of that, the loan officer answered the call so rude and obnoxious. He was having a conversation with his co-worker while having a conversation with me. That is unacceptable, I was listening to the plans they were making for the weekend. The loan officer went back and forth between me and his colleague. He made me repeat the answers to the questions I had already answered. I don't even know where to begin here! I've been dealing with Brian who is polite and at first it seemed like this was going to be an easy deal, but it has been a nightmare. From the beginning we made it clear I just wanted a Helco and at my house was paid off no mortgage no nothing. I bought the house in cash after saving money while working and I was in an accident where I was paid a good amount of money, that was helpful. But that's nobody's business. And I also want to help my daughter with college as well as to updates on some of the things in my home like all have to do after living in a home for many years. I even discussed with them why I was doing this, and I told them I also wanted to help my daughter with college. She's been dancing since the age of 3 and was accepted into a professional dance program that I want to help with. After being told, I was accepted to the loan process now I am told so something different which at this point doesn't affect a great deal. My daughter took her money that she was saving from teaching dance and paid $2,500.00 deposit to the school after hearing me on the phone with Brain stating we were approved and sending me approval papers stating the closing date and when I will be receiving my money. He said he needed to send a notary to my house and wanted to send them the following day which was Thursday but unfortunately due to family emergencies and traveling I will be in transit when you wanted to send the person to my house so I said the best time that they can come is on Tuesday which was this past Tuesday April 30th. Instead, I was asked for all this information that was supposedly cleared. I'm so confused how could they send me approval papers, talked to me on the phone how I was approved send me the papers to sign which I did sign and now it's a whole totally different story how do you approve someone and then disapprove them I'm so confused. And I'm not even caring so much about being disapproval that's what they're going to do I'm more disappointed about how my daughter paid $2500 for her deposit because she thought this was going to be clear and she was going to be able to attend school that's devastating me more than anything else who does that to a child. The lack of communication and honesty from this company is what really is starting to get me worried. And the way I was giving a contract, not only a contract a confirmation of my loan being approved a closing date and everything changing from one day to the next who does that? Burn told me somebody was coming out to just notarize which I had scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 when would be returning home. Funny because if I would've let them come to my house on Thursday April 25th the way they wanted to if I were not leaving to go on an emergency vacation this would have never happened, I'm so confused how do you do this to someone I'm not hurt about what they're doing to me but devastated or what they're doing to my daughter. You sent me closing papers on April 24th. Which I signed. To top it all off instead of them giving me Honesty I'm only being given lies. How do you approve someone then change your mind. That has me livid. This is a company. I will never recommend this company to anyone. This has been a nightmare. If anyone is looking to refinance their home or anything with their home, I highly recommend finding another company. I'm very disappointed at the professionalism of this company. Has my heart hurting for my daughter who is devasted & for the $2500.00 that she had to put out which she's not going to get back because of a lie from this company. And she only paid after hearing Brain say I was approved and after seeing me sign closing. The devastation is real. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I haven't gotten an official rejection I'm waiting for it because then they will owe me my $500 that I had to pay for appraisal which I was told by Brian that I would also get back if they didn't approve me. read more

Be warned! I am just sick that I gave these people my tax forms. Since i am self employed I have to furnish 2 years of tax records to show my income. The minute they got their hands on my tax records i never heard another word out of them. I found them online and feel completely foolish to have ever considered doing business with them online. My tax records were emailed to them. After that I sent repeated emails, voice messages and even left messages with the receptionist asking her to give Arelyn Osuna, the lady i was supposedly working with, a message. That went on for 2 weeks. Nothing but crickets...I have already contacted Experian asking them to put an alert on my credit report, just in case.
