Travel the World in just one night, are the tag lines before you enter the Global Winter Wonderland. Literally something for everyone to see. If you went to the Chinese lantern festival last year you will see some recycled lanterns but still worth it in this new global display. Food, snacks and BBQ to eat and even a midway with plenty of games to try your luck at and bring that stuffed animal home. They offer many shows including global motors where motorcycles drive in a globe, wire walking, the wheelers, circus of lights and the amazing Shaolin Warriors. With all the pics and selfies you can spend about 1 to 1-1/2 hours walking around. Dress warm and note: no refunds for inclimate weather. The shows are cool and included in the price of the ticket so get your money's worth by watching all you can. The card maze was fun for all ages and something to see outside of each exit. Now that the family has seen it, I think we are good unless there are many changes in the future. Tip: dress warm and bring a water bottle, quite pricy if you have to get something to drink here. Being that this was the Inaugural year for Las Vegas, The Global Winter Wonderland was A-OK...The lights of different countries and themes were cool to see, and all the acts from China(Motorcyclists, Acrobats, Shaolin Kung Fu, etc.)were entertaining. Pretty much what we came for, didn't care for the rides and avoided the food options as it is far from an "International cuisines" food village, and is straight up overpriced fair/carnival food. Seems like there's been a lot of unhappy ticketholders who used Groupon...go to Walgreens for your discounted tickets($20/ adult General Admission, no rides)and avoid the crowd/lines. Hopefully the organizers are able to work out the kinks and possibly come back to Vegas, as the majority of attendees who ARE NOT Yelpers, seemed to enjoy themselves from what I witnessed. All cultures were present at this event(as Las Vegas is a "melting pot" itself)and displayed a great sense of community which was great to see. Bundle up(it gets COLD!), go early(4:30pm), and enjoy! Boyfriend and I were here on a Monday night. It may not seem like it, but Las Vegas can get some pretty darn chilly temperatures during the winter months. Global Winter Wonderland is scheduled to be in this city until Jan 20th so be sure to bundle up!!!!!!! Stop trying to impress your date, ladies. It's COLD AF at night so dress warm! Even though it's $3.00 off for NV residents, the price of admission per person still came out to be about $22.25. Yes, the light up displays are cool....but really honestly, it's not really worth the price. It should really be around $15 per adult. Now onto the food choices. So the website advertised it as "global cuisine." Here I'm thinking I'll have different food choices to pick from...kind of like the Foodie Fest. But nope. This is not food truck level. This isn't even LA/OC fair food. This reminds me of my high school carnival we used to put together for fundraising. DO NOT...I REPEAT, do not get the tamale from this stand called "Tamales Cupcake." (weird combo, I know.) At $4.00 per tamale, it was small and soggy. I'm a small eater and I finished it in 4 bites. The quality was worse than the food at employee dining hall. I tasted better tamales from Trader Joes! I do recommend Latin Fusion food stand. 3 tacos at $10.00 looks promising and they had delicious carne asada fries for $10.00 and the portion was good enough for two adults to share. So here's the final verdict: -minus 1 star for the horrible food stand choices. -minus 1 star for admission price. -minus 1 star for not having everything ready. Where's the ball bit or that LED bar? Where's the dinosaur display? I don't recall seeing the wall of china either. I should remove another star for "entertainment." Shaolin Warriors reminded me of what I would see if I went to a park in the mornings in 626 San Gabriel Valley and watched a bunch of old Asian men doing kung fu and "fake fighting." The two men on those hampster looking wheel probably auditioned to be in Cirque du Soleil's Ka but didn't make the cut. It was the EXACT replica....except for the lack of "wow factor." Only saving grace was the 5 motorists in the wheel driving round and round simultaneously. That's cool, I guess. Go check it out if you have some extra money to spend. But for families looking for a night of fun...you're better off going to Circus Circus Adventuredome, Magical Forest, or Glittering Lights. Even Cowabunga Bay's Christmas. read more

There's so much potential here...I still had a great visit and will probably be back next year... 2 Tickets via ticket master: $56.53 = $4.75 (Order Processing Fee) +$1.00 (Facility Charge) x 2 + $3.00 (Service Fee) x 2 Tax $1.89 x 2. We printed our tickets and were able to walk right in without any issues. They have photographers taking pics and handing you tickets to purchase later if you like. The carnival rides and food stations were similar to what I've seen at other local festivals. Festival food is overpriced in general and if you didn't know, you're going to learn at Global Winter Wonderland. All the booze vendors were closed on our Thursday night visit, disappointing. If you're not going to have booze on certain nights, at least update your website. Revenue lost from our total group of 14 who wanted to pair up drinks with the awesome lights...speaking of which.. Global Winter Wonderland light displays: The winter theme was based off global architecture and cultures from around the world. If you enjoy being triggered about 'cultural appropriation', this place is not for you. This is a social media dream for IG influencers with all the colorful and bright displays. Your fans will love it! The dual dragons, card maze and parthenon display were my favorite ones to walk through. There was something for everyone to appreciate. We were able to catch the motorcycle cage show at 7 PM. 5 motorcycles drive inside a globe with precision as not to crash. This was entertaining to watch. The balancing act was impressive, but the motorcycle show definitely had more action. It took a about an hour and a half to enjoy the whole experience and get our pictures on. Well, overall I had a pretty good time. I think there's so much more potential here if they got their food and alcohol situation in check. Either commit to it or take it out completely and add more displays. Also, more interactive displays can help them out as well. Take away the in house photographers to offset costs. (with smart phones, does anyone actually buy those still?) All in all, even if it was just the same displays I'd probably check it out again. I opted to wait until after Christmas to visit the Global Winter Wonderland in the Rio Hotel's north parking area hoping for smaller crowds and I lucked out. I paid $19 for my ticket which was the cost for a child/senior ticket. There's also a Nevada resident discount if you're not a child or nor senior. After they opened at 5, some of the items were not lit. Workers came and got them working within a half hour. At 5:30, the first entertainment starts. This was 5 men on motorcycles riding in the Globe of Death. I've seen this before but it's always good entertainment. The only problem is the narrator tries to make it more than it is. On two occasions--at the Globe and the tightrope walker--he stressed that it was a Guinness record act which in fact it was not. There is rotating acts like this and there's a circus tent near the kids' ride area. The acts in the tent were almost identical to what was done at the Chinese Light Festival last February at the Craig Road park. I had the idea that the two shows were operated by the same company, but I don't know that for sure. I spent about 2 hours there between enjoying the lights and the acts. I did avoid the food. A funnel cake was $10. Since there were so few people there, the corn dogs and chicken skewers were just sitting under heat lamps. The most fun were the people at the "pools" that were filled with plastic balls. Kids and adults were having lots of fun jumping in the pool and trying to "swim." It was fun watching them! In my opinion this is the premier Las Vegas holiday venue for 2018! The Ginormous mostly holiday themed displays covering an area about as large as a football field are visually stunning. Meet and greets, food court, carnival rides and more. Includes awesome Chinese Circus, acrobatic performances throughout the venue and two motorcycles going full speed at each other only inches apart inside an eight-foot metal ball. Global Winter Wonderland 2018 is bringing some of the best entertainers from around the world to Las Vegas this holiday season but it's the displays that got me. Global Winter Wonderland is located at the Rio Hotel, actually behind it in one of their parking lots. Parking is free for this event. Please note that this event is outdoors so please dress warmly. Going on now through January 20, nightly from 5-11 pm. On Christmas Eve, my husband and I decided to check out this event since we happened to stay at the Rio Hotel for a quick Christmas vacation. We had already gone to similar events like this back in California earlier (Moonlight Forest Lantern Art Festival at the Arboretum in Arcadia and the Chinese Lantern Festival at the Fairgrounds in Pomona). With numerous of lanterns that look like the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, The Big Ben, and The White House, you can travel the world in one winter evening. There are 15 acres of these amazing illuminated lanterns to admire and take photos with. In addition to these lanterns is a maze (you won't get lost, it's not a real difficult one to go through) with playing card walls. There are also some great shows to also keep you entertained. We saw all 4 shows, which included 5 motorcyclists riding in a sphere like cage, high wire act (our least favorite), Shaolin Monks (the longest show with a run time of 30 minutes, inside the warm circus tent and the best show to watch) and variety acrobatic act. Shows are at varies times so be sure to check the schedule and consider arriving early so you can catch all the shows. This event also has food trucks, carnival rides and vendors selling their artisan items and wares. Some of the vendors there are those from China selling handcrafted pieces (including edible sugar art, silk embroidery, intricately cut designs available on a foldable card, etc.). Believe or not, my husband and I were actually at this event for 3.5 hours. We looked at everything, saw all the shows and took photos. I am sure most people will be here for an hour or two though. There really is quite a lot to see at this event and I think is well worth a visit if you have nothing to do and want to continue that holiday spirit. Admission tickets are $23 for adults and $19 for children ages 4 - 12 and seniors, prior to tax and fees. Ticket prices for Nevada residents with valid I.D. are $19 for adults and $17 for children ages 4 - 12 and seniors, prior plus tax and fees. I bought our tickets on Expedia.com, which seemed a little cheaper than Groupon. I also had a promo code for Expedia, making our tickets really cheap (sadly that promo code expired, sorry that you can't take advantage of it too). We waited till after Christmas to go so that the crowds would be less. We bought our tickets at Walgreens to save $5 on each ticket, pretty good deal. I thought the regular price was a little high, considering you still had to pay for rides and the food costs were obnoxiously high. Sorry, but this New Yorker will never pay $9 for pizza that looks like slop. Anyway, onto the lights. The displays were absolutely gorgeous. My favorites were the castle and the jungle animals. There were a few shows that I managed to catch too. The motorcycle stunt show was pretty cool and definitely added some thrills to the night. There was a tightrope show and some jugglers also. Both were entertaining but not enough for us to stay for their whole act especially since it was so much easier getting pictures of the lanterns while everyone was at the shows. It was a great experience overall and my husband and I enjoyed strolling through the displays and taking pictures. Unless they bring a lot of new things the next time they're here, it will be a one and done kind of thing for me. I feel like they could've done better with food selection and prices. They could've easily turned it into an international food festival also, that would've tied in nicely with their theme. read more

Had fun at this event but it was unorganized and just not as expected and hyped like the radio has it. Pricing wasn't consistent and I just don't get how locals only were $3 off when there's a $5 coupon at the box office at Rio. The box office said you had to pick a specific date but the ticket says any day can be used. Luckily got employee discount. I wouldn't pay full price for this. No alcohol vendors were open. If they weren't serving because it's mid week then I'd hope they discounted tickets. It would've been nice to have a beer or some wine while looking around. The lantern things were similar to the chinese lantern festival. They had some of those lanterns but they had the bigger land marks which were cool to see. Radio advertised a ball pit. Didn't see one anywhere. I guess this is because we went early before they had everything up and running but entrance tickets cost too much for what you're getting. I still had fun and enjoyed the company but yeah, stick to the other Christmas stuff. Also I think it was mostly enjoyable because there wasn't a huge crowd. Global Winter Wonderland has received a lot of hype for its first year in Vegas and it definitely deserves some of it, but there are also some things that need to be ironed out if they decide to continue hosting in the coming years. Firstly, people take some issue with ticket prices. We pre-ordered on Groupon and tickets were $21 per adult ticket all in. This is more or less the same price as purchasing at the door. I have seen some reviewers purchase from ticketmaster and elsewhere, but Groupon seemed to be the best online price to me. Pre-purchasing doesn't necessarily mean you'll beat the lines though as there is a separate line for Groupon and for us, that line was longer than paying on the spot. It seems to be all relative. As for the display, this was great! It was so fun to see so many countries and places represented in lights and there was a lot to explore and see! On the back of the site map, there's a quiz which is fun for the kids to take part in too. What I thought was a shame about the set up was that the displays were all just dotted about in one open flat space. I think that creating some fun paths and more divisive sections would be a lot more interesting. The shows were varied and performances went throughout the evening so you could enjoy everything! The Warrior show was fun and included in the Groupon ticket, there was also a record-breaking motorbike show that had me cringing with fear and a tightrope cycle, which was great too! With a whole area of refreshments, souvenir stalls and fairground activities, adults and kids alike could spend a good few hours here, and we definitely did! Bare in mind to bring extra $ because food and drink doesn't come cheap here. Also, there is no alcohol sold here on the weekdays, which was a little disappointing. I can only imagine it was a permit issue. In all, to go once was really enjoyable, but I feel it's a 'been there, done that' type of thing and in my opinion, tickets are a little pricey for what you get. The light displays were great and we got to see Santa right away without waiting in line which is a miracle this late in the month. Santa was awesome. My LO was a screaming nightmare and he was so sweet trying to get her to warm up to him. My kiddo absolutely loved running around and looking at all the lights! -1 star for admission price and food choices. This is more in the $12-$15 range than $25. Food choices were limited and overpriced. Parking is Free, but it's a bit of a walk to the entrance and it's been pretty cold the last few weeks. read more

What a waste. I understand that we went on the last day, but we still paid the same price as those who went on the first, so I fully expected to see and experience everything not even so much at its greatest, but WAYYYYY better than it was. A ton of stuff was already being broken down, half the lights weren't even on, the warriors didn't even perform at 830, around 7p the motorcyclists said they were going to perform at 810 so we went to try some food and in the middle of getting our food, the motorcyclists started performing and were done by the time we got over there...WHICH WAS STILL BEFORE 8. We had no idea there was another show going on or would be going on until we got close to the tent and heard some music. We ventured in and saw the end of the changing face act, a girl who gave up on what was supposed to be her best trick, and some really AWESOME male performers/jugglers. Seriously the best jugglers I've ever seen. They got this review the second star. At 816 the show was done and we were told that was the last show of the night. We enjoyed what we could but it was so sad that it wasn't much. The card maze had a ton of "card pieces(?)" flailing in the wind from not being secured, there were tons of art pieces (?) that had fallen over or were just broken... If I could give this zero stars, I would. This event is poorly planned, not as advertised & I wouldn't be surprised if scammers were behind the whole operation. My friends & I decided to go last night because we saw tickets were being advertised as $17 for locals on their website. When we got there, no one knew what we were talking about although we weren't the only customers who were asking about that price. So it ended up being $23 with local ID. Ok, whatever. We got a map of the place & started walking. We went inside the "venue" only to discover all the beer & wine tents are shut down. Every. Last. One. Who holds an event in Las Vegas, with signs of all their alcohol sponors all over the place, and doesn't serve?! Ok, so no beer. We went to the food area. It was NOTHING like they advertised. Basic fried carnival food with an Asian food option & a Mexican food option & that was it. Overpriced & nothing looked appealing. We went looking for the adult ball pit as advertised on the radio that very day! No ball pit. We saw bags of balls, but no ball pit. Fed up, we went looking for a manager to get a refund. He gave us a lot of nonsense about the fire marshal changing things around (the map they gave us was inaccurate) & they couldn't get the ball pit up & something about because they needed to be there for 30 days they couldn't sell beer during the week (which is bs because this is Vegas; we have some of the loosest liquor laws in the country. I'm pretty sure their sponsor LEE'S LIQUOR would've been able to help them out. I think they just didn't want to pay for weekday sales. Which is fine, but let people know upfront!). After arguing for a bit, a nice lady from Ceasars was able to get us our refund. This event is not even close to what's being advertised. Save your money & go somewhere else. read more

Loved the global inspired displays. The motorcycle performance in the dome was right at par with las vegas strip entertainment. We went late on a friday and no line and quick walk from the masquerade lot. Make sure you park on the right side. Grateful for heaters in the food area and my son won an emoji pillow at one of the carnival games. Lots to do if you take it all in. It was a relaxing night walk. read more

This was disappointing. Firstly, the advertisement is poor. If 12 or under, you get in for free. You only get the ticket to enter yet not to go on rides. The rides are extra. We got the 3 kids unlimited ride bracelets. Adults local get in for $23 and kids local between 12-17 get in for 21$. If not local, add $3 to price. The ride bracelets, with a special that night, came out to close to $40 for 3 unlimited ride bracelets. The kids went on a few rides. These kids love the most challenging roller coasters and tower of terror and were done after 40 minutes because they claimed the rides were too harsh and they all felt sick to their stomach. They ate 1 hr before going to this event and did not have any food at the carnival. The country displays were pretty and some were not lit as system down. There were no international food stations. It was a joke. Just hot dogs, popcorn, typical Carnival food. Good luck finding anywhere to sit! The international influence was minimal at best. Bad food. Poor choices. Expensive. What a huge disappointment! What a rip off. Let me also add that the stands where you can win a prize are ridiculous. We were told that to win a large doll we would have to spend upwards of $70 no matter what! This is the first and last time we are doing this. Overall, just a big no! read more

i'm on the fence with this one. We went to take my 4 year old, and she had a blast, which was the whole point. However, I don't think the price was worth it at all. First, it's like a 10 minute walk from the event parking. They put the entrance as far away from the parking lot as possible. The prices were crazy stupid. $25 each just to get in. That didn't include much of anything. Another $25 each for unlimited ride wristbands, which only my husband and 4 year old got. I wasn't about to spend another $25 for me since I get motion sick. My 4 year old can't even ride half the rides, so I think her price was astronomical. We did see 2 "free" shows. One outside, and another inside the tent. The tent show advertised that it was half an hour, which it was not even 20 minutes. The food was way overpriced, and half of the vendors were closed down. No beer during the week I guess. Old run down rides (the Glasshouse was literally built in 1978, the guy showed me the permit). Another employee was telling me he gets paid under the table so that he can still collect unemployment. Some of the lanterns weren't even all the way set up (Zeus isn't holding anything? The bear at the ticket line is supposed to be fishing, but no one took the time to cut off the ziptie?) There was even a fire extinguisher in the middle of one of the displays (is there a problem with that display casing fire??) Just overall a mess. I would not pay to go back unless I found a really great coupon and packed food and water myself. read more

I will give -5 for the disorganized entrance and ticketing. The staff are supposed to be at least 20 ft outside the entrance to direct people where to go. I have to mention first, the entrance to the parking was horrible, only one car can go in and out and the people are using the same entrance to go to their cars. There was nobody to direct traffic. Now, back to the entrance for tickets. There is an organized way to avoid this frustration. I had to yell at the guy at the gate because people were cutting in line because of whatever he was doing. The line was moving (and it was a long line) until we got to the actual baricade entrance with that guy there. We were stopped and 20 people walked in for some reason. And then another thing happened when we were so close to the ticket window and some staff were directing people to what window is open and then they let in first the people with cash. Advise: Have an actual ticket or bring cash, its $26, so the Groupon, or Goldstar or whatever ticket for will call is just an inconvenience. Well, we got in after all that frustration. Going to the actual decoration is nice. Its quite different theme from other Christmas decorations. They did a really good job in doing all of them. I enjoyed walking around and looking at all of them. There are some food and drinks to choose from and there are rides for the kids. I will not do it again. Another advise. Park at the self parking at Rio so you will be closer to the entrance and come later around 8 pm to avoid the chaotic entrance experience. read more

So don't get me wrong, if I did not hear all the commercials for everything that was supposed to be there I would not have been as disappointed as I was, we went for 3 main things, the adult ball pit (not there), the led bar or any bar(only on weekends) and the light up dinosaurs(no lights and in some corner). We spent almost $100 for our family thinking it would be a great night. almost half of the lights were not turned on. I took picture after picture of displays being dark and rides were down as well.. At least if you inform the people before they buy the ticket that half the stuff is not working then maybe they wouldn't come in or at least give a discount if things are not at full capacity it's really not fair.. $100 is a lot of money to spend especially when we really don't have it to begin with. read more

My family and I went there on Christmas Day. The lights and shows were worth to see. It was very windy and cold, but we stayed there for 3 hours. Food and drinks were outrageously expensive. One lemonade was $7, one slice of pizza was $9, one skewer of chicken was $9... Are you kidding me !? All rides and games were very expensive. The parking situation was super unorganized. There was no sign so everyone was driving toward the Wonderland area. Then there was a real ass hole security yelling at every single driver and telling us to turn around and park all the way back the hotel !!! It's not our fault how unorganized they were !? Well if I were standing by the parking lot on Christmas Day and had to fix the huge traffic, I might be as cranky as this ass hole security !! Lol I won't go back, but hope Rio will hire nicer and more respectful security people and fix some problems. read more

Wonderful experience! I am thinking about buying a seasonal pass for it so I can be there every day. The location is the parking lot of Rio Hotel,it's super easy to find. And there are more than latents in this festival, food courts, rides and sorts of entertainments. It's definitely a great place for family. What I love the most is the Chinese acrobatic show! This is so incredible that I haven't seen anywhere in Las Vegas before! Really enjoyed it!!! read more

Fun place to walk around and take nice pictures with family and friends. I wish parking and entrance was more organized. We kept getting stuck in long car lines just to be redirected to turn around and go farther towards another parking lot. We finally got to the correct parking lot and there was only 1 person directing traffic at the entrance. There is no designated pathway for pedestrians so families are using the same gate as the cars entering and leaving. Parking lot gets full fast and you really need to search for a free parking space. Then it's a long walk to the entrance, followed by a long line to get into the Wonderland. We got our tickets online through Ticketmaster and avoided the long line. My advice is to buy your tickets online, plan to get there as early as possible. We went on a Sunday and the place opened at 4:30pm. There are food booths and vendors who sell hot coco and churros. We bought a churro for $4. If you're use to warmer climates, dress warm! It got pretty chilly by 6pm. We bought our tickets for a lower rate they sell at the door.. way to expensive for what's inside. The lights were pretty cool and the rides for kids were awesome. Food sucked.: extremely over priced considering what your paying to enter. No discounts for locals or kids? We bought our tickets prior thinking we would escape that massive line but nope we had to wait 45 min in box office line...oh yeah that show that plays outside by the kid rides was worth seeing! This is the best show I have ever seen,even though there are some problem with the coupons, but me and my friend were still enjoying this event, and for the assistants who works in the place, I just want to say thanks , they helped a lot with finding the locations. read more

Scammers at the entrance! They call it the "cash only line" aka "express line". They sell tickets at face value, No Discounts or anything! including locals! Including KIDS! The reason I call them scammers is, they claim to work with the same company that runs the event but I found out that that was a Lie! One of the lady also claim that the prices of tickets are higher because of "Tax reasons"!?!? Lastly, forget taking pictures with your phone. There are other places to go see if you know where to look. Try the Glittering Lights at the speedway. read more

It's such a pretty display of color and light. We really enjoyed our visit even though it was super chilly! We took amazing pictures and were overall pleased with the world case display. The shows in between were irrelevant to us, as we only wanted to see the colorful sculptures. We didn't try food either as we came form having a crazy big dinner at a buffet! Still, easy access and hours of instagram fun! :) read more

I wish I could give this place more stars. My family and I were very disappointed. Entrance fee for adults is $26 pet person and for the three of us it was $63 dollars after a $15 discount. Way over priced!!! We wouldn't pay over $10 per person. The food was also ridiculously overpriced. For a corn dog, small philly cheese steak, chicken sandwich, lemonade and soda - $45. Our daughter played 2 carnival games, $5 each = $10. Don't waste your time and money!!! Sorry not trying to be a Debbie downer but keeping it real people. read more

Worst experience ever!! I went with kids attempted to have a good time. Almost all the lights were out. And not to mention when I tried to take my kids on the rides. And use our wrist band tickets we were denied and told we needed to pay again!?? If you read our wrist ticket it clearly says "pay for gate admission and then present to ticket booth for your wrist band?? Why would be pay again.. so I asked for a manager.. only for her to tell me it's half off not all you can ride! Wait why doesn't it say that I paid for all you can ride wrist bands.. why pay again.. the manger was so RUDE! Then again must suck to work for a carnival and not have a real job.. never again will I return! read more
