Ashley has been my stylist for about 3-4 years. She's great! I used to have a pixie cut. Ashley was great with taming my grow out. My color is spot on. She really listens to what you want. The conversation is great. She so kind and friendly. I highly recommend her. The salon is inviting. There's a great little waiting area where they sell clothing and hair products. The only issue I have is there is never anyone at the front counter. They need to hire a receptionist. read more

I requested face framing layers. This cut is noticeably uneven, with choppy, unblended ends and inconsistent lengths throughout. The stylist was super sweet, but not once did she check if her cut was even she went straight to curling it so I wasn't able to notice it when I left . It was only after I came home and showered and straighten it. I have no interest in returning to this salon for a correction. When a haircut turns out like this, I don't feel comfortable trusting the same salon to fix it. Instead, I'll have to spend additional time and money paying another stylist to correct it. Scheduled an appointment with Kaileah (@kaileahhenschelhair) and it was an amazing experience at the salon. They have a lot of hair products available to purchase including olaplex, it's a 10, kevin murphy, eleven etc. They also have cute little boutique items like cloths, earrings, etc. I asked for a ash blonde baby light/balayage and I got just that. I needed a stylist and was searching through IG and found Kai. Seeing pictures of her work, I liked it bc it's very settled and simple. I DM her and she got back to me immediately. My whole concern was trying to find someone that can accommodate Saturdays only just bc I have a long commute to work during the weekdays.and would not be able to do so. Anyways, she does Saturdays.. that's a plus for me . I made an appointment with her. Initial day of the appointment, the salon is so spacious with a cute waiting area where they sell boutiques (clothes, jewelry and hair products). I met Kai and let me tell you that she is so sweet and very soft spoken. She knew what I wanted from our previous texts. Bc I had grays coming in, I wanted a color that blends & not noticeable. She suggested an ashy tone. My hair was warm tone (gold/brownish orange). She started the process & took almost 2 hours with color and cut. Results.... Loved it!! She did advise that I won't get much blonde since my hair is quite hard which means it will take a few session. Kai is so great and such a nice and honest gal! So I referred my family to get and they love her as well! read more

You know how it is when you move to a new spot and need to reassemble your beauty team well finding a hair person is top of the list for me. I tried a couple of different places in Modesto and landed on Kaileah's Instagram. I instantly fell in love with her technique and style with balayage. It's natural, fresh and she does such a great job. So grateful I found her! The salon has a ton of parking and BEWARE it's right next to Hobby Lobby so you may be tempted to head over when you're done with your appointment. ;) Kaileah felt like I friend I've known for years and it was fun to chat and get to know her. She totally nailed my vision and took time at the beginning of the appointment to understand what I was looking for. So thankful to have found my hair person! Can't recommend Kaileah more. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this time I was really shook to my core, and believe it or not I am in a befuddling state as I write this review, I almost do not want to believe the way I was treated by Kai. Every time I had the opportunity to have my hair done by Kai, it was always a pleasurable experience and always left me looking forward to the next time, this time however it was completely different. I had texted her with 24hours to reschedule, and I was willing to pay her 20% fee of 32 dollars. She highly encouraged me to make it to my appointment, so I moved a lot around and stayed up late making sure I caught up on personal things to make sure I would make it to the appointment on time (12). I let her know the day before around 8pm that I was going to make it, per-usual I was excited to see her. I arrived around 11:24 and she texted me that she was running 15 minutes behind, which then I proceeded to say if she would like to reschedule because I didn't want her rushing, and she assured me that she would not be rushing, but that her current client in her chair was moving a little slow. I proceeded to tell her ok, I will be in my vehicle and lmk when you are ready for me. She texted me @12:05 she was ready, I was in her chair at 12:07, I was completely blindsided with what was to come, we had talked about what I wanted done prior to my appointment. Everything was practically set in stone until I sat down in her chair, she seemed a little apprehensive, her body language was guarded, her tone in voice was frustrated. I asked her if she would like to reschedule, she said no, but that she would not be able to do what I had asked, and that she could only partially do what I wanted. She mixed bleach, normally she washes and dries before starting bleach, this time she didn't, which was unexpected because normally she does. I told her I had coconut oil in my hair, as a fellow licensed cosmetologist I know that bleach will not develop as it should if there is oil in the hair. She got a little upset that I had oil in the hair, and told me that we needed to wash my hair and dry and that it was going to take more time than expected, she was saying all this with a passive aggressive tone in voice. I still proceeded to agree with her and went for the wash highly hoping her mood would change, we finished washing, she started drying, and I could see that she was rushing, which is why I had told her to reschedule because I didn't want to be rushed. At that point I voiced out that it felt like she was rushing to do my hair and that she made me feel hurt because of how she was speaking to me. I told her it would be better to reschedule, and she asked if I would pay for the bleach that she had already mixed which was going to sit there while she dried my hair, I kindly said no, I will not pay for something that I am not going to use. She then asked if I would pay for her blow drying my hair, I said no because she wasn't even using heat protectant.... I finally just got up out of the chair and walked away from her... As a professional, if I felt there wasn't was enough time to do what the client had asked because I was running behind, it would have been better to stand firm on rescheduling for a better time. I have not idea what she was personally going through, but taking it out on me was not okay, and most importantly it was unprofessional. I value my time and where and also with who I spend it with. Getting your hair done should be a memorable experience that leaves you yearning for more. You build a meaningful connection with each person that sits in your chair and you as a professional should respect that role. I am sad to say that I will no longer be getting my hair done by Kai or at gloss salon. The lack of respect and professionalism was too high for me. Specially when I did give her an opportunity to reschedule. read more

I have worked with both JAMIE and am currently with ASHLEIGH... They both do great work. My time constraints required me to switch to ASHLEIGH.. she has been cutting and coloring my Gray for a couple years now. She is the sweetest, listens and gets it just right . Color and cut, I really don't get it styled as I'm usually on my way home, however she has done a great job showing me little curling tricks to achieve my look. This salon is a hidden little gem! Beverly took my 5 year old daughter and myself in last minute for some haircuts and she was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable and welcoming, we instantly felt as ease with her. When I first walked in I noticed immediately the salon offers Kevin Murphy products, I have been looking for a salon out here that sells these to no avail until now! Beverly also explained so well to me the reasons behind my issues with my hair, color damage, terrible cut I received in the past and how we can fix it, etc. I am throughly excited to see her again in September for some coloring. Update: Beverly worked her magic coloring skills on me today. I always have tried my best to get away from my roots of being part ginger, but today I'm officially bracing my inner ginger lol! THE FIRST WALK IN is critical. And today I was not impressed. I was told that Gloss Salon was priced fairly in the market and was lovely inside. So I decided to drive by to see what the costs were for different services. Imaging this. It is early in the morning. There are 3 hair dressers working at their stations. I stood well over five minutes at the counter. Each of the three looked at me and did not SMILE or engage stating... Can we help you? Are you here for an appointment? Are you new customer? NOTHING.. They stared and said nothing while I stood there. Had they said, JUST A MOMENT, one of us will be with you, then I would have waited. Instead, disgusted I walked out. I have had the same SALON doing my hair since 2013 but the hairdresser is retiring. So I need to find another vendor to engage. Thing that the owner of this SALON and the hairdressers who stared at me JUST DO NOT GET..... Today, we have many choices.... My review is for ALEXIS who just happens to work at Gloss. I was referred to her to go blonde & boy does she deliver! I got heavily highlighted with blonde that basically made me have the look of being blonde without an all over bleach. I loved it & definitely recommend Alexis if you're looking to go blonde! She does exactly what you ask for when you get your haircut as well. It did take me a while to get into see her but what do you expect when she's sought after! Beverly is truly amazingly talented. My hair was a few colors and very damaged. She nursed my very Fragile hair back to health and was able to dye it a beautiful blonde(touch of pink )without any hair falling out or breaking off. I was so excited and thankful for her talent. A few days later she put my hot head extensions in. She did such a wonderful job everything blended perfectly. The extensions are well worth the cost. They are extremely durable I don't baby them at all ( drive with the windows down, wear a Harley helmet, swim and have had my hair pulled on) none of the extensions have fallen out, loosened or have been displaced. I do follow the care instructions as directed and use a special hair brush. I would recommend Beverly to anyone she is a true artist and I will no longer let anyone else do my hair. read more
