Melissa's coloring skills are flawless. I don't want highlights or lowlights, just all-over color. She gets it right every time, even when the manufacturer of the color changed their formula! I always leave with a rich, even tone that doesn't budge, even after weeks of shampooing. I have curly hair and don't want to bother with a lengthy blow drying & styling session every morning - she is so skilled at cutting my hair that I can literally just wash it and go! The intimate, small salon setting means I'm often the only customer, which makes for a relaxed, personalized experience--I don't like being in a salon with a lot of other customers, and this avoids that entirely. She was not present in the salon when we returned. Not sure how she would know what was said. No one called the police. In fact, Ella called me trying to convince me to take down my review and when I refused she threatened to call the police. Not sure why she would call the police because she got a bad Yelp review? If Ruby can't take constructive criticism, she's in the wrong profession. She clearly messed up my daughter's hair, that is not in question. Ella is amazing. I had my first session of microblading done back in December 2022. She was extremely responsive during the booking process and I was able to get in quickly even during the busy holiday season. During my session, Ella took the time to talk through what I was looking for and meticulously mapped out the best shape for my face. Loved the laid back atmosphere in this salon. I had a very pleasant experience with Ella and Ruby. The lady leaving before me had highlights that looked immaculate. I'm so glad I was recommended here!! Ruby did such a great job with my hair. When you go to a hairstylist or hair colorist, especially for the first time, you have to have some kind of idea in mind what you want. As much as magic as they make, hairdressers are not psychics who can read minds, so having a couple of reference images and making sure you communicate what you want is key to leaving the salon feeling like a million bucks. Ruby really listen to what I wanted, and she also worked hard to help me find a compromise that would allow me to get the color I wanted yet still retain healthy hair. I could tell she has a passion for doing this and she really wanted to help me find something suitable for me. She also went above and beyond to fit me into her busy schedule even at her own inconvenience. My hair color looks so natural now, and I always appreciate education on how to keep my hair healthier for the future. I went without expectations, but Ruby did an amazing job and exceeded all of them! PS I'm typically way too lazy to write Yelp reviews so I only write when my experience was above and beyond. Took me some time to find someone to book and appointment for my girls. After combing through Instagram and Facebook groups, I came across Gloss Salon and decided to book and appointment. The place was easy to find. On the day of the appointment there was a slight mix up with our appointment and scheduling BUT Ella came through and came in anyway on her day off. Ella did an AMAZING job on both my preteen daughters. It's both of their first time getting their hair done in a salon. My 11 year old loves her long years and balayage. My 10 year old loves her new layers. They both have new hairstyles just in time before school starts. I will definitely be back and most likely have her do my hair as well. I have long blonde hair and always have some sort of color done-mostly some form of highlights/lowlights. She takes the pictures I show her and absolutely kills it. The first time we just laid down some beautiful dark chocolate color and I was amazed at how shiny and healthy my hair looked! 3 months later and a consultation for extensions my hair was still shiny and healthy arriving to my appointment for extensions. I wanted long hair and Ella delivered!! She was honest about how many packs I needed (I have thick hair) and how we would place them. Sadly, I had a really disappointing experience here. I'm still new to the area so I was excited when I saw the Groupon offer and snatched it right up. I have a very busy schedule as I work during the day and go to school at night so I had to make arrangements to be able to make my appointment time possible. Unfortunately, when I got to the salon there was no record of my appointment. I had confirmation on my cell phone and was able to show that I did indeed book an appointment... They have no full-time receptionist there as far as I could see so I was talking directly with the stylist with whom I had booked my appointment. The stylist (I don't want to mention names as everyone makes mistakes and I don't want to taint this person's styling abilities) did say she would try to work with my schedule to squeeze me in at another time but at that point I'd been standing around awkwardly while she worked on another client and just felt awful. I had absolutely no desire to return especially as getting your hair done is a personal experience. I've never had anything like this happen to me before. My advice would be to call again and confirm your appointment so that you can have a good experience. Luckily, I was able to book an appointment at another salon at a convenient time and they kept my appointment! read more

She has been completing my hair-look for many years here in Santa Rosa, CA, and when she planned her Gloss Salon opening in Rocklin, CA I admit I felt a little nervous about her being so far away...really glad she was doing her own thing finally because she is so awesome at what she does, and making ready to drive all the way out there of course...NO ONE else will be allowed to work on my hair if I can help it! Seriously folks, we ALL know that when you find someone as fabulous as Ella at coloring, you simply don't let anyone else touch your hair! Thankfully she created a way every 3 to 4 weeks for me to continue seeing her in Santa Rosa at another local salon (thanks so much Ella!), and yes I have even driven out to Glass Salon as well when needed (Cute place!) Ella has a truly innate touch for hair-color, she is very good at helping you figure out what will actually look good on you and not just what you THINK looks good on you. And my hair looks really great, stripes of blonde and cordovan, we did a fun purple once, and now at my request are "working in the gray" as a stripe coloration now...and I am not the only one who thinks her work is fabulous, I get compliments on my hair ALL the time, even from guys...Ella's work is actually her hobby, she loves it and you can tell she loves it!...and her talent certainly shows! ;) Ella is your color-guardian-angel my friend, use her to the fullest...and for the person who wrote that review accusing Ella of yelling...well that is just so completely out of character for Ella that I cannot help but wonder about something else "coloring" the interaction (pardon the pun)??...one of the main reasons I go to Ella (besides the fact that I literally get at least one go-out-of-the-way to tell me how great my hair looks comment EVERY day, I kid you not) is that she dislikes participating in drama. She is not the typical drama-queen hairdressers I used to go to and hated being around. Not my style, not her style either. Saw the Yelp deal ($25 for $50 certificate) for this salon, Yelped it and there were only two reviews, but mentioned how great Ella was so decided to go for it. As I walked in, I was happily greeted by Ella. Those two reviews were absolutely right about Ella. She is amazing! I told her what I wanted to do with my hair, but she gave me her suggestions, and I am joyous that I listened to her, instead of following through with my original plan like an eagerly annoying customer, who talks as if she knows more than the hairstylist. I had an appointment at 12:00pm and the whole process (highlights and color) only took Ella about an hour and a half. She is crazy fast! She conversed with me the whole time, she was very friendly, and very passionate about what she does -- I love it. On the other hand, as great as she was, my hair was only satisfactory (in my opinion). But then again, I guess I should have taken more control of my hair. read more

I just got back from getting my hair done by Ella. I searched on Yelp, and chose her because of so many good reviews. She did not disappoint! She was super friendly and fun, did a great consultation before starting, and was super quick (I was out in less than 2 hours with balayage, cut, and style, which has never happened!)! I love how my hair turned out! I showed her pictures of what I wanted, and she definitely achieved the look I was going for. I also loved that she had 2 assistants and worked well as a team. Ruby was a great assistant, and I could definitely tell she knew what she was doing. The other assistant, Jenny [I think] was just finishing her first day with me. She was sweet, and Ella was so kind and patient, teaching and giving her lots of tips and knowledge all along the way. Sierra is incredible!!!! I went in to see Sierra to change my hair color. I had blonde with pink and wanted this dark violet color. So, I expressed to Sierra what I wanted and she delivered!!!
