However, some dental offices make the experience less horrific than others. Relative to the total experience, The St Laurent Dental Centre, and specifically Dr. Atul Joshi's office, does a good job of making you feel at ease when you sit in the chair. Him and his staff personalize your experience, set amidst a calm atmosphere. They're also helpful in giving practical advice without making you feel like a oral monster. This becomes evident when you see other patients, who have been for the most part going to Dr. Joshi's office for years, forging a long-term relationship. After all, feeling calm, comfortable and at ease is all you can really ask for from your dentist.

She finally convinced my mother to go in to see him and she trusts him completely with her teeth ( my mother is very anxious with dentist as well!) After being at my mothers consult I gained trust as well just from meeting him! He and his staff made the experience soothing and calming! My first appointment and consult for myself was today! I was anxious just because now it was my turn ! I felt comfortable knowing how my mum was comfortable with him! Very nice and respectful Doctor. He unlike other dentists tells it how it is and supports whatever your decision but ensures you are informed of all options. He is very respectful in terms of ethics ! He more or less told my mum that the dentist she had been to prior took advantage of her issuance coverage! As much as I hate people toying around in my mouth... This place is the place to go ! No jokes at all! You will feel comfortable and respected! The team is very calming and kind! I know cleaning sucks but at least they make it worth while ! Will continue my dental care here! Kind, compassionate, honest, ethical, explained everything she was doing, and for the first time ever, I never even felt the freezing needle go in -- she takes her time and applies a local anesthetic first, then freezes slowly to minimize any pain. The work she did was top-notch and extremely reasonably priced. The staff are amazing and helpful, and the office itself is beautifully designed. I am recommending her to everyone I know in Ottawa.

I have no money, thanks to WSIB I have no Pension. I was given a year's salary to live off for the rest of my life. I was sent to this Dentist Center by a Hospital Dentist at the Civic Hospital. She is the one who pulled my remaining teeth. I went to see this clinic once I turned 65 and got my Dental Package from the Gov. The Denturist informed me it was not free! I did not know that. She told me it was going to cost $800.00 to get my Dentures! What choice do I have, she told me it would be the same price no matter where I go. I told her to go ahead. It was approved by the Gov. and it was going to cost me $840.00 and I said lets go. I did not argue one bit, I understood the situation and I needed this very badly! I have barely left my house or dated since 2014! I went for my appointment to start the work. They asked me to show up 5 minutes ealry. My appointment was 1:30 I got there at 1:15. At 1:50pm I asked the girl at the counter why they asked me to come early? She apologized and told me she was helping another Dentist? I thought she would go check but she never did. I have 2 bad hips that need to be replaced. 2 year waiting list. I sat in that office in pain because of the chairs. If I had been in the Dentist chair, which is where I should have been at this time I would have been ok. My legs raised are fine. I told them I was in pain and could not wait much longer. At 2:10 pm I told them I had to leave and to ask her to call me when she wants to keep her appointments. She called me 2 hours later and when I asked if I came back would she keep my appointments or should I go elsewhere and she told me to go elsewhere! I sent the owner an email explaining the situation and he called me 2 weeks later and told me the same thing. He believed everything she said and that she would not do my dentures and to go elsewhere!!! When he called me he spoke over me when I tried to explain and was rude. I got very upset because of what he was saying and he labelled me a troublemaker and told me to go ahead and write the dental association!!! Told me he agreed and not to come back!!! What kind of Dentist is this???? I have every text they sent me if you need I can download and send them. I do not plan on letting this go! I did nothing wrong!!! And he would not tell me why she dislikes me for some reason? I was nothing but polite and agreeable! It turns out she missed my appointment because she was in with a non-English speaking person and their interpreter??? That's the reason she left me sitting? The owner agreed with her. He said she had to finish with that patient? I said and leave me sitting there? He said it was only 1/2 an hour??? Boy is this guy a treat!! It was not, and even if it was he was ok with that? Leave a customer sitting without letting them know what's going on?? Is this guy Super Dentist or something? I thought he was going to be a professional that's why I asked him to call me but he was having nothing with it! He should not be allowed to treat people this way!!!

Other dentists have been a disaster. Dr. Walters had solutions to all of my problems and the training and technology to make it happen. When I needed to get cavities replaced he knew to shrink the nerve first before putting on a permanent filling. My previous dentist did not and I ended up with a root canal. Dr Walters had a simple modern appliance for my teeth grinding, my previous dentists wanted to sell me a complicated 'old' style appliance. As a result of all of my experience with Dr. Walters, he's the only dentist I've ever trusted 100%.

I suppose this fact alone speaks volumes about the quality of care. I honestly love the team at Metropolitan Dental. From my perspective, there are three elements that set them apart. Chairside manner. I have always felt safe, comfortable and included in what was happening to me. The hygenists and Dr. Walters himself always explains what they are doing and why. I have always felt like a participant in what was happening rather than simply an open mouth having things done to it. Gentle Hands. Not sure how else to term it but Dr. Walters and each of the hygenists I had the pleasure to have work on my teeth, were exceptionally gentle with how they handled the various instruments both in and around my mouth. Not once do I recall having winced or experienced so much as a twinge of pain. Warm Familiar Welcome. This one applies to all - from Grace and the rest of the team in office management and adminstration, the hygenists, right to Dr. Walters (Dr. B) himself. I have always felt warmly welcomed. I have always felt recognized. And it astonishes me to no end how the team at Metropolitan Dental remembers details about my life discussed during a prior visit. I have never understood why so many of my friends hated going to the dentist - that is until I had to see a new dentist in TO recently. The experience was eye opening....as in painful and rough!! That one visit made me realize how amazing the quality of care is at Metropolitan Dental and how easily I had taken it for granted.
