Obviously any place that needs to maintain a new look has to go through renos and construction to offer better services,newer look and hospitality for their clients. Other dentists have been a disaster. Dr. Walters had solutions to all of my problems and the training and technology to make it happen. When I needed to get cavities replaced he knew to shrink the nerve first before putting on a permanent filling. My previous dentist did not and I ended up with a root canal. Dr Walters had a simple modern appliance for my teeth grinding, my previous dentists wanted to sell me a complicated 'old' style appliance. As a result of all of my experience with Dr. Walters, he's the only dentist I've ever trusted 100%.

I suppose this fact alone speaks volumes about the quality of care. I honestly love the team at Metropolitan Dental. From my perspective, there are three elements that set them apart. Chairside manner. I have always felt safe, comfortable and included in what was happening to me. The hygenists and Dr. Walters himself always explains what they are doing and why. I have always felt like a participant in what was happening rather than simply an open mouth having things done to it. Gentle Hands. Not sure how else to term it but Dr. Walters and each of the hygenists I had the pleasure to have work on my teeth, were exceptionally gentle with how they handled the various instruments both in and around my mouth. Not once do I recall having winced or experienced so much as a twinge of pain. Warm Familiar Welcome. This one applies to all - from Grace and the rest of the team in office management and adminstration, the hygenists, right to Dr. Walters (Dr. B) himself. I have always felt warmly welcomed. I have always felt recognized. And it astonishes me to no end how the team at Metropolitan Dental remembers details about my life discussed during a prior visit. I have never understood why so many of my friends hated going to the dentist - that is until I had to see a new dentist in TO recently. The experience was eye opening....as in painful and rough!! That one visit made me realize how amazing the quality of care is at Metropolitan Dental and how easily I had taken it for granted.

Now, you'd think we would prefer the hand-holding type of dentist in this situation, and in the past that's what we've sought. Well, that hasn't always worked out. Now that we've both had some terrible issues (including problems caused by previous dentists) fixed by Dr Polonsky we both agree she's a godsend. Dr Polonsky is honest and direct without being patronising or judgmental. She is 100% focused on her work, and I trust her - which has resulted in my mother and I becoming so much more confident in addressing dental issues. Dr Polonsky is sympathetic and understanding, but when it's time to get the work done she's focused on getting things done right. Her assistant (Mimi) takes care of the bedside manner/comforting part of the treatment which works GREAT. So far, this clinic has provided me with the only dental experience I've ever had that wasn't followed by complications.

A cleaning, which according to a senior plan is supposed to be fully covered. We paid $200 out of pocket because they had my wife come in a 2nd time for more scaling, they said. But they never explained that we'd have to pay for it. They charge $75 for failing to cancel within 76 hours but you cannot leave a voicemail as their phone doesn't accept it and nobody seems to answer the phone during normal business hours. I seriously would recommend going elsewhere for your dental needs as this facility is pushy and dishonest, in my opinion.

When going back to visit, I was referred to an oral surgeon but the centre did not want to pay for it as they had "just given me a free consultation". Well that consultation was only to investigate the complications of their surgery; a proper response would have been to pay for the repairs. Bottom line: complications happen, but good businesses take responsibility for them.
