A little bummed when I found out haunted houses in fact were still being put on but oh well. There's a lot of mixed reviews here on prices saying it was extremely expensive, I'm not sure why, our ticket was $40 for the car so $20 each, which is less then your average haunted house. The VIP ticket (which is not worth it) is $60/car. I believe at our showing there was one VIP person who was maybe 300 feet ahead of us. The movie/show they put on is pretty corny and cringe worthy, but I was more there for the scare factor anyways. When we first got there I was bummed because we'd packed the back of the car with blankets and pillows to get cozy like at a regular drive in movie, but you pull in forward and stay in your front seat. I was also hesitant because it was really bright, but they put on a ton of smoke/fog machines so the people do sometimes appear out of nowhere. I thought their costumes were pretty freaky looking in the dark (not sure about quality otherwise), and I think they did a good job splitting up their time spent at each car. That being said I think there were less then 10 cars at my showing (Tuesday 9:10pm), and I could see this being far more difficult then on a busier day. They gave us a good fright a couple times, but nowhere near as scary as a typical haunted house.

We paid $50 for regular admission (VIP is $70 and gets you closer to the screen). Overall, I'm not sure I'd enthusiastically recommend but it was entertaining enough. It's essentially a 30ish minute drive in movie that involves songs and a couple of short horror film clips (seemingly more student produced than Hollywood quality). While that's all going on, there are costumed actors walking around to scare the cars. You can have your windows up and listen via a radio station or keep them down and listen through the speakers. While the films themselves were a bit laughable, the live actors did spook me a couple of times. I read it's ok for families and while I agree that kids won't be super scared, some of the movie content was a little mature (but they did bleep out expletives), so I'm not sure I'd bring young children. This was definitely a sign of the times and probably not something I'd return to, but I'm glad we gave it a shot! We laughed and relaxed in the warm comfort of our car which you can't say the same about those waiting for the haunted house next door.

Armed with a charged phone, a hat, water, and plenty of sunscreen, we were ready. Crowds weren't too bad at 10am, and several artists were lucky to be either shaded by the tall buildings or by the tents they brought. Being this early, we got to see works in progress, and I appreciated seeing all the detailed labor that goes into these beautiful, colorful, sadly temporary pieces. A free event, it is worth making the trip downtown. There are food and drink vendors throughout, as well as popular restaurants and bars nearby to pop into if you need a break. (The 2026 Event was near the Denver Art Museum.)

What started in downtown at Larimer Square with dozens of artists has now become over two hundred talents chalking it up over several blocks around the Denver Art Museum. The way this festival works is sponsor-driven. Local businesses and organizations buy "squares" to which carefully curated artists are assigned with full autonomy in theme and execution to create, as long as the sponsors' names are chalked first. The artists are then given two days to create their design in real time, rain or shine. It's an opportunity to witness visual art in all shapes and colors. With the youth group and school opportunities as well, you've got kids of all ages being represented on the pavement. In addition to the visual arts, the festival includes live music and vendors. I strongly recommend planning your weekend around it. This is an event to build a tradition around, for sure!

Wished I brought some ear plugs as it was super loud as you snake through the line and got closer and closer to the speakers. So...get ear plugs! As for the trail, it was a fantastic haunted trail to go through. The stories of the staged rooms, the props, the people, the ambiance were all great. Upon entering. The staff did space out the groups a bit so that you dont see scares coming your way...props to the staff and spacing of groups! Several jump scares got me good and at the end, you get to see a museum. I would highly recommend for anyone to go and check this place out and if you can afford it, get the immediate access. After a lackluster light viewing last year at Chatfield, we knew we had to up our game this year…read more Parking was a breeze with the multi-level garage, we scanned our tickets, stopped at the first cider station for some hour beverages and pretzels, and were on our way! I ordered "ciders" and they didn't ask, but automatically gave us the expensive souvenir cups - be aware of that. They're significantly more expensive, but you can get discount refills. You can get a spiked cider by adding cinnamon whiskey, Baileys, or peppermint schnapps. The pretzels were good, but know they don't have mustard. Only $3 cups of cheese. The lights are well done, plenty to look at. There were animal exhibits to see as well - we were able to see elephants and giraffes as well as the tropical pyramid experience - which was hot and humid. (I had to leave that early due to my thermals on under my clothes.) The workers were smiling and mostly friendly. We spent about 1.5 hours there and everyone had a great time. The ground is a little uneven in spots, which can be challenging to navigate while in the dark if you have mobility issues - bring folks to lean on! Overall a nice experience. Recommend!

Despite the freezing temperature of 25 degrees, we were bundled up so the cold didn't bother us. We were very impressed with the professional lightning wrapped all the way up trees and branches and brushes. Really enjoyed the glowing lanterns on buildings and trees. Some of the housing for the animals were open and we got to observe an elephant, 3 giraffes (one is pregnant!), and the reptile house. Everything was clean, smooth walkways, food vendors available during the walk, gift shop was inviting, lots of free parking spaces, and restrooms along the way. Signs were clear to keep us getting lost and everyone was orderly. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We were not rushed and we casually strolled around. I look forward to visiting the zoo for future events. Definitely a kid and adult friendly environment.

The Denver Mile High Tree has been a holiday tradition since 2019, but it has led a somewhat…read morecheckered existence, starting on 16th Street and then moving to the DCPA Sculpture Park, Civic Center Park, and in 2025 to the Tivoli Quad on the Auraria Campus. The tree is 110 feet tall (higher than the Rockefeller Center tree and tallest in North America) with 60,000 LEDs and choreographed light and music shows. It's a free event, operating from late November to New Year's. One of the best aspects is the ability to walk inside the tree which is 39 feet in diameter at the base and accomodates quite a few people. You can lie on the grass and look up at the amazing images which is a surreal experience. The tree was a collaboration between Spain's ILMEX Illumination and Brut Deluxe studio. It is definitely worth a visit.
