I feel slightly bad writing this review because Dan is a nice dude and he knows his stuff on plants, but I do feel the need to warn others. When he fertilized my lawn, instead of applying fertilizer only to the grass, he drove the fertilizer spreader all over my new concrete walkways, leaving dozens of ugly rust stains everywhere. I have spent hundreds of dollars on power washing and other attempts to resolve it and such attempts have made the problem worse, so I now have rust + discoloration all over my walkways, which is a major eyesore. It will cost me many thousands of dollars to fix this problem that Dan caused, since I will need to rip out and reinstall 3 new concrete pathways and a giant patio. Dan's response was extremely disappointing, he did not take responsibility and there was 0 concern or effort to fix the problem. I would caution against using Dan if you want someone who is thoughtful and careful on your property. I hope this review will ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Unlike many other landscaping companies we received a quote from, Dan was very direct and transparent with his estimate and when it came time to pay his estimate was spot on. Nick did an amazing job cleaning up our yard, putting down new edging and mulch, and fixing the grading around our home and was done days ahead of when we expected him to finish. I contacted Dan about a sprinkler repair project. I had a break in my line between the backflow preventer and my first manifold, so I couldn't water any of my lawn until I got it fixed. Dan was very responsive and got a guy over to my place the next day. The first odd thing was that he didn't ring the doorbell. We were home and I heard him working on the side of the house, so I went out to meet him. I asked why he didn't ring the bell and he said Dan told me to come over and fix it. Anyway, I let that go. I had already exposed the line and so it was clear where the problem was. We discussed the plan for the repair and I let him get to work. I came back and checked on him after a while and he had it back together and was ready to pressure it up. I noticed he had his shovel there, and had to dig out a bigger area to reattach the lines. It looked good to me so we turned on the water and no leaks. I asked not to rebury the lines, because I wanted to get a picture of the fix and run the system to make sure there were no leaks. The next day I mailed Dan a check with an additional $20 for getting to me so quickly. The next morning the system was running and I went out to check on the lines. I noticed there was a small leak, but I couldn't tell where it was coming from. I decided to let it run through the rest of the circuits because our lawn was getting very dry and then I figured I would let it dry out and see if I could tell where the leak was coming from. I went back inside and about 5 minutes later, I heard the sound of uncontrolled water flow. I ran back outside and saw a geyser coming from the general area of the repair. I closed the shutoff valve at the backflow preventer and waited for the water to drain away. I discovered that there was a large slice in a line coming out of the valve box that was running parallel to the repaired line. At the time of the repair, that line was buried, but the flow of water exposed it and the slice was very evident. I took macro photographs of the slice and sent them to Dan and asked how soon he could get somebody out to take care of the repair. Dan said it would be at least 2 weeks before he could get anyone out there. I didn't figure I could wait 2 weeks, so I contacted another company that came out and repaired the second line. They agreed that the line looked like it was probably cut during the first repair. This time, we checked all 4 circuits in the valve box before that technician left. I let Dan know the repair was completed and Dan said he showed his technician the picture and the technician said he didn't go anywhere near that line and that it was probably cut by a shovel. What bothers me about Dan is that he never offered to come out and take a look at the damage or take any responsibility. I know where I dug and I know that Dan's technician had a shovel on site and had to dig out a bigger area than what I exposed. We will never know for sure whether it was the technician's cutting blade, his saw, his shovel or my shovel that damage that line, but what I know is that I will never use Beautiful Lawn and Landscaping again. read more

Every time I have called or texted Dan, he usually responds with "we can get you scheduled within the week." But typically asks if he can come do it that day. Every time he has come the day I've called him within a few hours. He texts before coming and is prompt. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. It's hard to get someone to be prompt with lawn services but it's great to find someone who is prompt, curious, and does a great job. I contacted Dan early last week for a basic aeration job. He was quick to reply via Yelp with pricing. After back and forth about a specific time in which he could do the job he gave me a window of 8-10:30 the following Friday which is today. At 11:30 Dan hadn't arrived for the job so I called him. He said he assumed I'd seen the snow that fell over night and he wasn't doing any aeration jobs because of it. I explained that I wasn't an expert in aeration so if snow was preventing him from doing the job then at a minimum a phone call would be appreciated. Dan seemed indifferent as he said he was busy doing other jobs. I suggested maybe this wouldn't be a good fit and Dan again seemed indifferent to losing the business. I understand a simple aeration job is probably not the ideal project for a landscaping company. I also understand this review is an anomaly given the other positive reviews this company has received. However, I only have my experience to go off of and it was 1 star at best given the lack of communication and the indifferent attitude towards providing a positive customer experience. read more

Our front yard was in need of some major TLC, for sure: weedy-type grass covered the entire yard; we rototilled half of the yard and weren't able to do anything else with it because of our busy work schedules and having a baby to take care of...
