I love Glow Hot Yoga Studio.  The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable.  They offer traditional Bikram Hot Yoga and that's exactly what I was looking for. Traveling all over the world I have noticed that it was more and more difficult to find a classic 90 minutes Bikram classes.  The heat loosens the joints and intensifies the workouts for maximum results.  I have practiced here over several years coming back and forward from Europe and this yoga truly my favorite place .Yoga has improved my life dramatically ..  I have enjoyed seeing the studio grow and flourish .  Thank you Glow Hot Yoga for all you provide  for us! read more

This used to be my favorite place to practice. A beautiful space, kept very hot, with amazing teachers, especially Maria Elena. Then one day they started using a very odorous chemical cleaner. I could smell the fumes when class started, but practiced anyway and tried to ignore it. I got very sick for the next 24 hours, and so did my friend. I brought this to the attention of the studio owner who said that the cleaner did not have a smell. It appeared that someone had put the wrong cleaner into the mop, and was using a toxic bathroom cleaner in the hot room instead of the blue cleaner they had used before with no fumes. I was promised it wouldn't happen again. Sadly, it happened several more times. I ended up leaving because I didn't want to compromise my health. When I asked the beautiful teacher, Maria Elena, for help, she became very Insulting and told me to just relax more. She further told me I would experience problems at any shala, because they all use the same cleaner. This is not the way a yoga teacher should talk to anymore, much less someone concerned about breathing toxic fumes and harming themselves. I just wanted to experience her beautiful class in a safe environment. Sadly, I don't go here anymore. I really miss the classes as they were so good for me, but not at the expense of my lungs or with such a lack of compassion for the students legitimate health concerns. UPDATE: I was sort of done with this but I just received a very aggressive call from the owner, Raquel, in regards to my identical Google review. Rather than apologizing and rectifying the situation she was aggressive and in denial, refusing to acknowledge or solve a super simple issue of using the correct non toxic floor cleaner they had for years. If you go on google you will see reviews of other people getting sick. Stay away if you care about your health. So sad this goes against the entire premise of yoga in how they treat their customers! This review is for the new studio on Lenox. I am a yoga studio owner in L.A and found this studio to be way too overpriced for what they offer. Typical south beach stick up overpriced and overrated. For the two classes I attended, the instructor was bull***ing at the counter for 20 minutes while we were all getting agitated waiting in a 103 degree room while she pranced in and did not even bother to apologize or make a mindful attempt to humbly recognize the value of our time wasted; This happened twice in the same week. How rude and inconsiderate to paying members. Waste your own time-not ours. I agree with a fellow yelper, that, unfortunately, these people run an unfriendly, rude and inconsiderate business. Maybe if they peel the dollar signs out of their eyes they can see the true spirit of being a true kind, compassionate yogi. The only thing they seem compassionate to is that almighty dollar. Sometimes, the hardest life to live is the self-examined one, and I strongly recommend this business owner do just that. At the end of the day, it is members that pay your bills. To add, there is only ONE (yes, one, friends) locker room with showers and bathroom that men and women are suppose to share. Really? After my class, there was an aweful STANK odor coming out of that co-ed bathroom so deep and offensive that three other members had to say something to the owner (I think her name is Raquel) before she did anything about it, and all she did was light an incense candle? Granted, I do not fault her for not being the brightest.....but....how sanitary is that? With all the greedy money grubbing they do here, nickle and dimeing you for every and anything, they don't have the money to build separate male/female locker rooms? That's just wrong. Instead of prancing around with her nose in the air, the owner of this studio should spend more time listening to the feedback of her guests. An epic fail. This place is, to say the least, a grave disappointment. BTW, they have recently increased their rates (as if not high $$$$ enough) to $33 for a single drop-in class. "Have yoga mat, will travel" was the title of a New York Times article on the standardized instruction available at Bikram yoga studios across the country (and world), and the same idea applies to this lovely little studio in the heart of South Beach, Miami. The 2nd floor studio is large, mirrored on all sides, with a floor made of rubber bands (rubber is both a good insulator, generally hypo-allergenic, and "green" -- pretty sure the floor is a recycled product), with hot air heaters located in just about every corner of the room. There are shelves along one wall for people to put their bags, etc. There are three shower rooms in the studio which are unisex. Extra towels for showering are $1 each (a towel and washcloth are included in the price of the class), and shower gel is provided. The shower rooms are pretty busy after class, especially after the big 6:30pm evening classes. One of the most joyous things about this particular studio is the lovely deck out back. There is nothing better than sitting on a cool tiled deck with the Miami seabreeze blowing across your sweaty body. Nice plants fill the back deck--go out here to cool off and sip water before jumping in the shower. Mat rentals are $2, water is $2. There is a small locker area for valuables, but the studio is locked between classes when no one is at the front desk. There is a small boutique of yoga wears, including very short shorts (it's Miami, so get used to it -- a bikini or tiny outfit is pretty standard for this studio). On my last vacation to SoBe, I bought the $50 weekly unlimited (the cheapest package; there is no first-timer price at this studio like at many other Bikram schools) and it was well worth it. The instruction (I had three different instructors) was fantastic and the vibe in the studio was awesome. Most people here were pretty serious about their yoga -- a rather stark contrast to the often debaucherous vibes of South Beach -- but they are friendly, fun, and approachable. I made friends everytime I took class. There is a nice lounge area to hang out in indoors before class, and the aforementioned deck is great too. A short corridor from the studio to the deck houses a bar to hang wet rented mats on, a basket for dirty towels, and another room that leads to the small locker area and two shower rooms. The other side of the floor holds two bathrooms and the third shower room (which is, btw, the biggest one). Recycled plastic shopping bags are provided to put your wet yoga gear in afterwards. If you live in Miami, bring your plastic grocery bags to the studio for others to put their wet gear in. Next time I'm in Miami for over a week, I'll definitely be back! read more

You know the drill: *room temp ~104 °F, humidity 40%. *26 Postures, 2 Breathing exercise *90 minute class I like Bikram because the practice is consistent no matter where you go. Bikram Yoga Miami is no different, once we got into the breathing exercises and the postures, I had a beautiful session. The studio is clean and super cute. The outdoor patio is a nice touch, ideal for hanging out after practice. The only downside were all the chatty patrons. Chatting outside the room before and after class is perfectly okay. But chatting in the practice space before class, while I'm trying to meditate is a big NO NO! An okay experience that had the initial potential of being great. read more

In my Bikram yoga travels, I think Bikram Yoga Miami is an OK studio. It was everything I needed in my recent travels to Miami Beach, but not a studio that I would seek out in the future. Other reviews I've read are overwhelmingly positive on BY Miami but I notice there aren't a lot of recent reviews. Some are quite dated back to 2008. The room looks like it needs some renovations or at least a fresh coat of paint. Folks that I spoke with in the yoga community mentioned that this studio has changed hands a couple times (I can't verify this), so perhaps there is a bit of deferred capital expenditures at this point. I am mixed about the rubber recycled flooring, because it is truly hard to clean and not very comfortable for some of the poses where your hands are underneath your feet. Instruction was quite good, and my teacher that I took both days was very keen to adjust postures which I found quite helpful. One of the things I LOVE about this yoga is that its the same class everywhere you go but different, because it's you feel different every time you enter the room and the heat could be different etc etc etc... read more

I stay on the beach for a couple of months and this is by far one of the best REAL HOT YOGA studios on the beach!! The room is actually at the temperature it's supposed to be in! I absolutely love all the instructors and the people i got to practice with. I do though recommend taking Raquel P classes; she was my fave! beautifully poised and makes sure you get to the finish line. Glow Hot yoga has Very talented and experienced instructors who truly want the best for you and your practice. That is something I take personally and look for in a studio. Some studios are all for show Or don't really help you when you're doing a position wrong (which can seriously mess you up). Be rest assured here. woooow! amazing workout. my bf and i came in for a first time drop in class last night and left feeling amazing! i have done "inferno hot pilates" before but in las vegas so I was up for this challenge. Julie was an amazing instructor as there were many new students in this class. She went over form, and technique thoroughly upon class starting. I also like how she walks around to correct you (nicely!) so you do not injure yourself. We will def be coming here to add this to our mix of workouts during the week :) The studio itself is super easy to find and you can usually score parking on the main road. The studio is also super clean and bright. You can rent towels, mats and they have water for you at the front as well!! read more

I am really unsure what the 1-3 star ratings are all about... I agree that mixed changing room/shower is not ideal, but it's Miami where it's warm all year around so most people shower at home anyway, and being a "shower snob" myself I find these facilities quite manageable. Today was my second time in this studio and, as my first experience back in January 2019, it was blissful! Amy taught the class and she was EPIC! Facilities are clean and well kept, the class was perfectly guided (not militant but at the same time the rules were laid out straight before the class began). I've been practicing Bikram series for over 8 years in many countries and cities. I've been to some strict studios (such as London bridge, the one in Manila, Be in Bikram Moscow, and Bikram yoga NYC, now BODE, which I all love by the way in their own way) as well as some lame ones (well, i shouldn't day that, to each their own...) that let students walk in and out of the room whenever they please, drink whilst people are balancing in postures and so on, and I find GLOW to have that perfect balance. Additionally, a piece of advise, if YOU are experiencing a bunch of issues during/before your practice and selfishly decide to move about and disrupt the practice of others, just remember that yoga is about unity and sharing energy, so whatever that is you project in a classroom - others are likely to absorb in some way, shape, or form. So if you are hungover, unwell, or are feeling weak and unable to stay still on your mat and respect yoga etiquette - you should probably stay at home and skip the practice for your own and others wellbeing (whether mental or physical). Took my first class here through ClassPass. Honestly, a tad disappointed. It didn't feel very welcoming, they didn't seem to care that I had never been there before. I was charged extra for the mat and towel for my first class, and the quality of both was quite low. The towel was a normal bath towel and the mat was cheap. The class itself was instense! The room felt hotter than other hot yoga classes I've done. To be fair, it was a "power yoga" class, so guess that was my fault. read more

I am very disappointed in this place and the teachers (except Anya for ashtanga). I was not feeling well after one hour in a really hot room, and instructor named Alyssa would not let me leave the room immediately. She was also rude at the very beginning of the class. Nobody cared that I almost fainted and was throwing up, not even the girl at the front desk. I signed up for a month, for which they charge $145 , but they do not even have soap in the bathroom, water fountain, nor they clean the sweat after previous hot yoga class. All in... right? In an attempt to recover some of the lost glory of the the sexy of my younger years (like, a couple of months ago; I'm 24), I decided that I would try some new things in 2014. Yoga was on that list. I'd been primed for my yoga experience since 2010 but I'd always been able to successfully talk myself out of it. Not liking the direction my gluttonous lifestyle was taking me, I knew that the time had come to go all in. Thing is, I'd prepped myself for 'regular' yoga. I wanted to strengthen my core, get lean and unlock the secrets of the universe. I was all set to begin when some of my friends who practiced urged me to try Bikram first. 'Um, isn't that when the room is 20593 degrees and you hallucinate?' Being up for a challenge (and Puritan in my belief structure that pain is gain), I signed up for a month of classes. I read the website, asked questions and showed up to class with my mat, lots of cold water (had frozen it prior to class), loose clothing, and a towel. I met John who handled my registration, answered my questions and helped calm my nerves. His energy was/is very calming and encouraging. He advised me of where to set up... and I was off. I entered the dark room and the humidity and heat almost immediately knocked me over. I set my towel down, laid atop it and tried to namaste my way in to being one with the experience. Lights up. Stand up. John starts class. Remembering his advice to a.) listen b.) look at myself in the mirror and c.) mirror what the woman in front of me was doing, I started with my very first class. It was entirely different from anything I'd done. First off, I don't know how to breathe. Even when I was a runner, my breathing method was terrible. I tend to hold my breath a lot (unconsciously). That's not a good habit for yoga. My flexibility is decent for a man but not all that great for yoga. Add to this the way I was sweating and you have one decently-limber slippery dude trying to hold a pose. Despite this, I soldiered on until I couldn't. John never shamed me. He advised that I rest and join in on the next pose. I was happy (wrong word?) to see others falling out. It made me feel better.* By the end of the class I was thanking God for being alive. My endorphins were up as was my heartrate. My mind was a little foggy. I didn't feel leaner or stronger but it was only the first class. During my month of Bikram, I experienced very helpful instructors, one indifferent one and one whose namaste had got up and left. She made me not want to come back. Not only was she not encouraging, she seemed to take glee in her class struggling. Some of the superstars I'd seen in other classes had a difficult time with hers... and she liked it. No me gusta. I experienced a personal triumph the first time I made it through a class without stopping. Again, I was feeling fit, increasing my core strength, eating/drinking/breathing/sleeping better, and the pineapple slices at the end of class made it all worth it. That said, when the month was over, I was relieved. Bikram is no joke. By the end of every class, I welcomed the cool refreshing breeze of SoBe humidity. I can appreciate the philosophy and dedication it takes to practice but I don't know that it's for me. I enjoyed the yoga, strength, calm, and breathing parts. I think I'd just prefer them in a room that wasn't sweltering. P.S. Not once did the room smell funny. I was very happy with the hygiene of the studio and my fellow students. *I get how not-yoga that is. read more

You know how to make a Bikram yoga class unnecessarily twenty times more excruciating than it ought to be? Have a few mojitos on the beach and then head to 4:30pm class. Yeah, I'm never doing that again. Poor life decisions aside, Bikram Yoga Miami was just what I needed during my travels. John is a fantastic instructor and was great about suggesting corrections (or additional ways to challenge myself). His classes are very motivational and I will remember his advice and positive words as I continue my Bikram practice. Pricing was more expensive than what I've been accustomed to - rates are $25 per class ($50 for a week unlimited) and $5 per mat rental (which includes one towel, it's $3 for the second towel). Even given the exchange rate when traveling to Madrid, Miami has been my most expensive Bikram class yet. If the hot room itself was in better shape - the paint and the ceiling could use a little sprucing up - maybe the overall experience would have felt less pricey. I do like that the flooring is rubberized - with what looks like recycled rubber bands - I feel like it's more sanitary than the standard Bikram carpet and easier to keep clean (I hope?). Based on my almost completely urban Bikram experience so far, I was surprised (and loved!) the little outdoor patio at the back of the studio. After a class it was the perfect way to cool down and to continue to feel positive and calm with the Miami sunset as a backdrop and a soothing breeze. read more

As far as Bikram goes, I already drank the kool aid. I'm there. As for this studio... I've been to studios all over the US and a couple in Europe. Nice looking ones, "city" ones (little more grungy) and run down ones. The best studios have the best people. There need to be teachers that have energy and students that are devoted (committed?). This studio has both. The vibe is good and the studio is nice. The other advantage to this studio is location. You can take a class on Saturday morning and stumble across the street to the 11th Street Diner that actually has some health conscious breakfast selections if you care about that kind of thing. Or go where ever. A big caution is parking. Sunday afternoon seems to be the worst. I've been burned by not finding a parking spot even with 40 minutes to spare. I've learned to take the bus. However, weekday evenings and mornings aren't too much of a problem. Be careful that most of the north side of 11th street is a loading zone on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. read more

What a sanctuary Glow Yoga is. I have been practicing with Glow Yoga for almost two years and I can confidently recommend the Studio, the teachers and the radiant community that this studio fosters. The owner Raquel has created an ethereal space both physically and energetically, her devotion to the meticulous cleanliness of the hot room, the changing room and the bathroom is clearly evident. The instructors she has chosen truly care about the students & guide each class with enthusiasm and a genuine intent to facilitate growth & peace in the individuals practice regardless of their experience. I have practiced the 90 minute series, the Maha Hatha series & the Inferno Hot Pilates classes and have learned so much and grown from the expertise of each different instructor. Over the past 16 years I have practiced the 90 minute hot yoga series in studios in California, New York, Chicago, Hawaii and various other spots across the US and can confidently say Glow Yoga and its' instructors cultivate one of the best overall spaces to grow as a yoga student. The teachers at Glow graciously instruct the classes and have taught me adjustments & subtle shifts that have enriched my practice. Alyssa, Amy, Anya, Bre, Carolina, James, Jo, Lina & Raquel all have unique and dynamic ways of teaching the 26X2 postures. I always feel like they are very present and truly enjoy teaching the classes. In addition, I had always felt a bit intimidated to try and commit to Inferno Hot Pilates because I was timid about getting hurt and not feeling strong enough ( I had tried a few classes elsewhere in the past and always wrote it off as being "too hard"). Wow, Brenda Berry and her Happy Hour Inferno Hot Pilates have radically changed my life & perspective. I can confidently say it is one of the most fun, effective & challenging classes I have ever taken. Brenda's Hot Pilates class is truly something special....her energy, music, meticulous instruction & adjustments, & the efficacy of the exercises have transformed the musculature of my body and helped me strengthen micro muscles I never even knew I had. Her authentic joyful instruction paired with the combination of pilates, HIIT, barre and planks is truly an unparalleled workout. The best part of the class is she makes it Fun and you leave feeling energized and confident regardless of the shape you might feel you are in. Lastly, if you have any questions about costs & packages Erica who works at the front desk is kind, respectful, helpful and gracious! If you live in Miami or are traveling thru South Beach I highly encourage you to give Glow a try. I realize COVID has made us question whether we should be in a hot classes or practicing in studios and I personally feel very safe and comfortable in the studio during this time. Glow has taken extensive cleaning measures, is keeping the class sizes at 11 people and does temperature checks upon entry. Honestly, I really don't care for this studio at all. The last time I visited it was over a year ago. I saw they had a groupon and decided to give it another chance with a ten class pass. They denied use. Very vaguely they state on Groupon it is one per customer, but they fail to specify that applies to lifetime. If you do bikram and you were prepared for a class, you know how frustrating it is not to be able to take class. I'm beyond upset and really annoyed. I'm moving to south beach in two months, but I'd rather drive to Agni hot yoga instead of ever return here. Congratulations for losing a customer that would have been monthly over $25 to "upgrade" to your intro returning month instead. read more

I practice Yoga often but I am new to Bikram Yoga. The first time I went, I did not know what to expect. The staff were very nice and helpful. The location of the studio is perfect. If you place your mat next to the window, you get a great view of South Beach. Also, at the end of the class if your instructor opens the window you will be happy you choose this spot. All the instructors so far have been great. This class is no joke. Many times throughout the class I felt like I was going to die. The good news is that each time I have gone it gets easier and at the end of the class you feel great! read more

I love love love this studio! I first practiced in San Fran and that studio was no where near as nice as this one. I now go 2-3 times a week and absolutely love it! All the teachers are great but of course I fell in love with John....he is my fav....he usually teaches Mondays.... Look forward to any newbies coming to try it out! This place is absolutely amazing. I wanted to try it out because I needed a new workout and I have been having a lot of circulation problems. I decided to try this out and I am so happy I did! Every time I walk into this hot heaven I start to Glow!! The studio is a hot gem in south beach with an array of magnificent classes to choose from! All the teachers are amazingly professional and attentive. Raquel Pelayo, the business owner is extremely dedicated to the craft of Bikram Yoga, not to mention that she is helpful, attentive and caring!!
