Been here twice with my daughter over the past year, and both times were memorable for all the wrong reasons--thanks to the guy with the hair behind the counter. You know the type: attitude included, answers optional. The first visit, I made the dangerous mistake of asking how much it costs to change guitar strings on my son's guitar. Guy with Hair responded with maximum sass and zero information. No quote, no help, just vibes. I was trying to support a local business, but Guitar Center ended up getting my money because they are shockingly willing to answer basic questions. Second visit, I wisely stayed at the coffee shop next door to avoid being scoffed at again. Unfortunately, my 13-year-old daughter wasn't as lucky. She went in to spend her birthday money and left shortly after because Guy with Hair followed her around the store like she was planning an elaborate heist. She's 13. Her crime was wanting to shop. This place sucks, owner/person at the front is rude. I was looking around for gifts for about 5 min. Already had 2 shirts in mind to buy. I was going to call my sister to see if she needed help with her gift/see if I could get her gift while I was there.she is overseas so I needed WiFi to FT her. He wrote that I was upset they did not accept any of my clothing items and/or because his wife is black. He also said I was rude to her and was friendly to him. First of all, I never brought any of my clothes here to sell/exchange so I'm not sure what the hell he's talking about. My fiance wanted to check out the guitars which was the only reason we stepped foot in this store. Secondly, he was ALONE and we definitely did not see his wife that day. Another interesting used clothing store on Oak Street. The selection is a bit more curated than most shops with an emphasis on a boho style. There are equal amounts of men and women's clothes along with some accessories. When I stopped in, the owner (I think) was actually in the shop and she was repricing winter coats at a discount. If her style is yours, you will rack up. If not, you might find an accessory to your liking. Extra star for actually carrying men's clothing. read more

So wear a different vintage outfit for work all the time and I always spend at least $300 on their overpriced slightly vintage items everytime I walk in the door. So I'm walking in today with my 1.5 lbs dog totally zipped up in his bag and silent and the dude asked me "what the fuck is up with the dog?" I understand if you politely say I can't bring him in, but you are the only asshole that is not dog friendly on oak street so maybe before getting offended, put a sign up that says, " forget the community vibe.... I'm all about me and trying to put others down to make myself feel ok about ripping ppl off while being rude to their face!!!" I'll never shoo there again. Really cool spot! Even though the store isn't huge, they have a crazy wide selection of clothes, accessories, and jewelry to pick from; there's definitely something for everyone here. They also have a bunch of beautiful and well-priced guitars. I'm not sure why some other reviews say the owners were rude? Best service! They're so laid back and chill. Amazing selection of clothes and there's something for everyone. They have stuff from guitars, to bell bottom jeans, to Hawaiian shirts , to vintage von Dutch. They got it all. I honestly went to shop at glue because the reviews were funny. Clearly any negative reviews do not know what they're talking about. Finally I even went back in to return one item after purchasing 3 and they gladly accepted the return and even gave me a free shirt. I will definitely be back. Mr.Cumby here. I came in looking for a tophat and a monocle for my monopoly man cosplay. Fortunately the dude behind the counter is also a big fan of the classic board game monopoly and saved me from the monocle . He told me that the monopoly man ACTUALLY doesn't wear a monocle and explained each lair of the mandala effect. Boy did I feel silly. The monopoly man's real name is actually Rich Uncle Pennybags. What a great thrift shop! Has character and style. Bought some lovely clothing for fall and a gorgeous ring that was only $12.50. Could easily have gone for $50! While I'm sure that Glue would appeal to some people, it's just not one of the "nicer" vintage stores in the city. A lot of the stuff in this store I wouldn't even consider vintage. I mean, sure, I like a ratty looking AC/DC shirt as much as the next gal, but I doubt that I would rush out to buy one for 30 bucks and call it vintage. The place is packed with what I guess some people would call "hipster" clothes (I HATE that term, btw.) but if you are looking for something a little fancier, you would probably be better off going next door to On the Other Hand. read more

Like any thrift store you'll have to sort through to find something that suits your style, i think Glue offers a great variety of different types of clothing (coincidently many of which i couldn't possibly imagine pulling off) but i did enjoy the selection and the fact that everything is 50% till May. If i were to stay in town a bit longer i'd return to poke and prod my way through the store but I made a couple good finds there nonetheless. The lady working was very nice, her child was there but he was adorable and in smiles the entire time. Come patiently. Finding something in this store is like finding buried treasure. There are good pieces here... you just REALLY have to dig and look past a lot of things to find them. There's a lot of stuff here, deemed "vintage". Sadly, that is a term that has been stretched so much that calling something that means absolutely nothing. Just because it's a bit dated, doesn't mean that its automatically to-die-for. I don't think this would bother me so much if low-quality dated stuff didn't have the expensive price tag on it. For a few dollars, anything can start to look kinda cool, but over $25 for something that's hit or miss just isn't worth it. Go in and browse and you might find a hidden gem, never know. read more

I tried coming here multiple times, but every single time I've been the owner is extremely rude, creepy, and condescending. He's extremely hostile for literally no reason. My friends thought he was so aggressive to us because he was racist, but now I see that he tried to accuse a reviewer of being racist because his wife is black lol. Glue is a true New Orleans experience, the owners are friendly and helpful and you can just tell they take pride in their store. I love to dig for treasures and don't mind paying a bit more than a typical thrift store for quality selection so this store is great for me. The female owner is so stylish and you can see her eye all over the store. However, men if you are looking for clothing too, this store has a large men's section which is so unusual for a vintage store. When I was there, the owner was talking with her children and I got very nostalgic of when I was a child and my parents owned a store. It is lovely to see family operated stores in this age when running a small business can be impossible for families. And I love to support local family owned and operated businesses so I would choose that any day over a corporate chain. read more

GLUE has a lot of really great vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories. The prices are pretty decent for the quality, especially when they take half off the sticker price. The store has a fun atmosphere, with lots of 60's rock memorabilia and classic rock. I do wish they weren't cash only, but it's not a huge gripe. This place is GROSS! Not sure what store Tim M. is talking about. Definitely not Glue. I hunt all over town for hip vintage and have never seen one western pearl snap shirt in this store..at least one that was for sale. The coolest thing about this store is the signs in the window. Looks can be deceiving....nothing in here but smelly slimy shoes, "dad" sweaters and, "granny" house dresses. Talk about a scary flashback to the 90's. The stuff in here is not old enough to be called vintage! I actually find a lot of cool stuff at the Salvation Army in the same neighborhood. They have a giant selection and it's clean. You have to look past the copious amount of stuffed animals that are stapled to the celling and the sometimes uninvolved staff. They have a nice selection of men's clothing, which some shops tend to forget. However, I had a hard time finding anything that spoke to me in the women's wear. I think that Glue is the best resale clothes store around New Orleans. The comment before this is just plain stupid! You rate Target and Buffalo Exchange? Both are corporate owned chains with no personalty. Glue has tons of 50's 60's and 70's clothes. 80's clothes ??? Concert shirts maybe. They don't buy clothes but they take trade ins everyday. They also donate to Covenant House of New Orleans. They also have Lava lamps and vintage sign and decor everywhere a totally fun shopping experience. What a goof ball Emma S. wrote before this. I know some other people have given Glue bad reviews, but whatever. I love this place. I recently brought in a bunch of stuff and got about 125$ in store credit, which is fine with me, because I wanted some "new" clothes. I found an adorable floral top, a perfect fit denim skirt, a brand new pair of DC skate shoes, and a sweet pair of mall/retail brand jeans, that would have otherwise cost me fifty bucks or more. I am a single mom, and a bargain shopper, and I have been buying about 90% of my clothing re-sale in the last two years. I like the fact that I am helping the environment, and supporting a local buisness. I always find something, or a few things I like, and they recently re-vamped the store, and it looks awesome. I still have about thirty dollars left, and plan on going back to find shorts. Also, they take cash only, because banks suck! They charge merchants outrageous fees, and small buisness owners can't afford them. So don't blame the establishment, blame the greedy banks! read more
