They helped us install a beverage refrigerator in a wet bar, put recessed lighting into multiple rooms, and installed ceiling fans. The work was extremely well done. We also had them do all the work while we were away and we came home to the work 100% finished and the project areas spotlessly clean. During the entire process our project manager communicated clearly via email and text messages about our project. Their communication and professionalism is unmatched. SLOPPY and INEPT…read more Run, do not walk AWAY from Bohan Contracting! For 2.5 years we have been dealing with this inept, insulting, incompetent company. According to several subcontractors, Bohan was a good company initially, but they became greedy and took on too many projects. According to subcontractors in the area we have consulted with, superior Annapolis contractors refuse to work for them, in a few cases calling out their "designer" Jaime Esposito in particular. Bohan parked a huge dumpster in our driveway, insisted that we be out of our house in early January 2022, though the work on our house didn't start for MONTHS. Bohan's trucks from other parts of town would arrive nightly to dump their garbage. Bohan's workers told us they weren't allowed to dispose of refuse in the other neighborhoods in which they were working. That speaks to the consistent mistreatment of us and another family on our street who hired Bohan, judging our neighborhood to be not worth prioritizing. They are still not finished with either project! They've left us twisting in the wind -- but have had no problem collecting money from us. We were told we would be out of our house for 5 - 6 months and it turned out to be almost 16 months! The cost was almost TWICE their quote. Bohan's workers barely spoke English, were sloppy, didn't measure anything and were completely unskilled. On one visit to the site, they had to find a child who spoke English to even be able to communicate with us. Every subcontractor Bohan hired appeared to be the bottom of the barrel. Every day we find mistakes and poor workmanship. It was, and continues to be, the most depressing and disappointing experience we've ever had. They refused to compensate us for any of the aggravation they put our family through. We ended up sleeping in the workshop of our carpenter son, who was unable to work for the entire 15+ months we were forced to stay there. The architect/engineer DAMES Design, who we had great hopes for, left out items such as the water heater, found egregious errors in Bohan's work (including going over her head to hire a different engineer) but then told us WE had to pay her an extra $2000+ for dealing with it! Avoid DAMES Design! Advice before renovating your house -- HAVE A LAWYER on hand to read the contract first and to be ready for litigation.

US Better Homes Review…read more My wife and I decided to get a screened porch built for our Baltimore rowhouse home to protect us from the heat and bugs during the summer months. It was a little tough finding a solid contractor that was in our budget. We finally narrowed it down to US Better Homes after having four contractors come out and estimate the job for an enormous amount of money. The owner Samvel scheduled an appointment for an estimate and immediately we explained to him the problems we were facing with other contractors, and we gave him our budget. After that initial interaction with him, we decided to move forward with the project. The project took a little more time than expected, but that was expected due to the company being a small business plus the rainy weather conditions were also a major factor in the time frame. We were patient with the company and the project schedule changes because Samvel the owner was very accommodating, throughout the entire process and receptive to our ideas and changes before and during the project. He and his team were very professional, responsive, and friendly with any questions we had during the project. Once the project was done it turned out more than we expected. We are very happy and satisfied with our new screen porch. We absolutely love our new space where we can entertain outside. Thank you, Samvel and his team! Found this place on facebook, Joe responded immediately on facebook messenger and got the details needed from me. He made suggestions on what kind of sealant to use for the deck. He mentioned that they were booked for the season. By this time, I was impressed with the prompt communication and their service, I have decided to go with them and wanted to wait for their next available appointment. Joe responded after a few days saying that an availability opened up and should be able to wash my deck in a couple of weeks. He kept me informed the whole time. I was given all the instructions and what to expect before their visit. On the scheduled date, their crew came and power washed the deck thoroughly. Next day, they promptly showed up and stained it. Also, they were to power wash my deck and seal it. The windows needed special attention because spiders build webs in the windows then poop all over them. It's really gross, and I especially hired Grime Busters to take care of this problem. I specified this as the reason I was getting my house pressure washed. As such, I was told to remove all of my window screens to ensure the best results. So when they were finished, imagine my anger when I looked in my upstairs window and it looked as if water hadn't touched the window at all. OK. We all make careless mistakes. I called and someone came back out to inspect the job of the previous person. Agreed they didn't do a good job, but he didn't come back with a pressure washer to fix the problem! He asked me to use my pressure washer...uhh, WHAT? That's not all. The original washer also left whole areas of my deck unwashed then sealed over them. You could look and tell the angle he washed the stairs and balusters - imagine the sun casting a shadow is the best way I can describe it. So of course when he sealed the deck, whole areas of the deck didn't get sealed, because they weren't washed properly. I was also told the seal would last (assuming proper washing, of course) for 3-5 years. Even on the areas I felt were properly washed, rain water stopped beading on the deck within weeks. The last thing is they were to restain my white deck railings, and they did this, but sloppily. I have white wood railings on white (pvc? plastic-like) balusters. The white stain for the wood can be seen on the plastic -like balusters. In all, while I appreciated their attitude and they were very respectful, I paid $2500 to have a job done well and it was not. And returning without the equipment to correct the problem was pretty inexcusable.

I looked them up and discovered that nearly all of the ten or so companies that came by were from out of state. I researched, found Black Anchor, saw that they are local, and am very happy I went with them. They were great from beginning to end. Every single person I met on their team was courteous, pleasant and professional. I can't really imagine being any happier with this company and their work, and that's rare for me to say. If they did it all for free that might make me a little more happy but I guess that's a little unrealistic so I won't hold it against them. But they patiently helped and worked with us throughout the process, answering all our questions and helping us make sure that all the storm damage on our home was identified and addressed appropriately. And that damage in our case went beyond just damage to our roof, but also to downspouts, metal accents on the exterior of our home, window screens and more. Black Anchor helped us with all of that. They tore off our old roof and replaced it with the new roof using architectural shingles in one day. They were focused and efficient and have been a pleasure to work with all along the way. You can tell they really want to do a good job for their customers and I see why their ratings are so high here. I could go on but I think you get the picture. In short, I highly recommend Black Anchor Roofing. It seems to me like a great company that does great work and that is run by a great group of guys.

We found Noble Kitchen and Bath after a very costly, bad experience with a contractor/family friend…read morewho we hired to redo our large, custom master bathroom shower. We read reviews and brought out a few companies to provide quotes. Paul (project manager) and Lynn (designer) came together and offered some great ideas to compliment our vision. They also provided a price quote on the spot. We ultimately decided to go with Noble because Paul was confident, without exception, that his team could deliver the shower we wanted; other companies wanted us to make structural changes or exchange materials we'd already purchased. With Noble's good reviews as encouragement, we moved ahead and we're so happy we did! Our shower turned out better than we'd hoped and the work was all done within the estimated timeframe. The guys who worked on the shower, and those who oversaw the work, were all great. We're awaiting the glass enclosure for our shower (a separate company) but I'm attaching a photo of the beautiful work Noble did for us. We plan to have Noble renovate the rest of our master bathroom in the near future.

Because of this, we discussed our intention of upgrading our kitchen and center island countertops. NK&B outsourced to a third-party to come and take necessary measurements in order to provide us with a quote, a quote to include removing sink and cooktop, installing new countertops, and reinstalling sink and cooktop. That was early December and after a number of calls, voicemails, and emails by me inquiring about the quote, NK&B has not responded. Nothing. Assuming that business must be good or the job too small, but would've appreciated a callback.
