My children have learned 10x as much as they had in their previous center. And even better then that they have so much pride in what they do at school, they love coming home and sharing the days lesson. I can see them using what they've learned in every day life and it's so wonderful. They eat a wide variety of foods, and even their willingness to try new foods has extended to our home life. All and all, I can't give enough praise to Kristin and Tim. Both my kiddos look forward to going to school and genuinely love their teachers. I have never felt better about where my kids spend their days while I'm at work

I have 3 very different children. One was in the enrichment program . Another one is special needs. It doesn't matter where my kids are academically, the resources are there for them to advance and learn. The teachers and staff care for the students and are willing to work with the parents and take the extra mile for the child's benefit. I feel very fortunate. I worked very hard on my work and did well. I however DID NOT graduate high school because Virtually learning math and physics isn't for everyone. This is not the reason I'm writing this review. I have the school itself 5 stars for being up to date, and possible to do. The staff is very helpful and Tammy Potts is the golden girl! She dedicated time and energy into every student. I feel she deserves the highest pay a teacher can possibly earn. She guided me through so many papers and she taught me MLA format. However, I am here to complain about the director Nicole Hodges. She works very hard and it is her objective to keep order. She's a very cold unfriendly woman. I was talking in the classroom to a friend of mine as we took a break from the six hours we've sat still working. There were mothers in the classroom with screaming babies and I made a comment on the fact that they need to be in daycare and not my learning environment. Nicole overheard my conversation and pulled my friend in the office to gather information on what I said and then she called me in. First she demanded my name and she scolded me harshly for judging someone. I apologized and I was ready to move on. I went back to work on my paper. Then she called me back into her office with my grades pulled up. She expressed to me that I was "Lucky to be apart of the program" I was several credits behind due to the fact that I had turned in three credits that day and my work was not graded yet. She was sure that I felt small for what I said. In fact she went into Jan's office and closed the door to talk about what I had just done. I heard them talking about how I should apologize to the class and be excused for the day. I decided to wait the next few hours outside for my mom to pick me up. I cried to my mother and told her that I never wanted to go back to that school and I don't want that woman to have the pleaser of handing me my diploma. My mother called and Nicole refused to talk to my mother without Jan present. Nicole then demanded to ask my mother what my version of the story was and my mother said it didn't matter because I apologized for my wrongdoing and Nicole took a swing at me by pulling up my transcripts once she learned my name. I am still angry with her for that terrible experience. There was another instance where I was in class and a young lady came in with her father to sign out of school. Her plans were to get her GED and enroll in college the next semester instead of her two year plan with basehor virtual school. Nicole refused to sign her out because she doesn't approve of dropping out at all. The father raised his voice and said that he's tired of her and he complained about his past experiences with her as well. I know all this because it was s huge scene in the classroom. Nicole threatened to call the police if they continued to press the subject and did not leave. That's when I took my que and left. I didn't enroll in time in 2013 to complete my last year of school. I'm still bothered by Nicole. She may run a tight ship, but she's not good at encouraging or motivating struggling students. She's very stringent and cruel. I don't have anything nice to say about Jan either. They both are blunt and bold. Tammy Potts is the MVP. She always took care of me and helped me succeed. I got the privilege to say goodbye to her and leave what seemed to be the worst part of my life. Everyday that Nicole was there I was afraid to talk in the classroom or be in her presents alone. I'm not sure what will come of this review or who will see it, I feel Basehor is a wonderful school and the education is amazing quality. -Madeline

We had our two children at Raintree 6 and 8 years, respectively, and while we very excited in the…read morebeginning, I strongly recommend against families using this school now. Raintree seemed wonderful in the beginning, clean facilities, great staff, wonderful food that you could even order to bring home. Our children appeared to be receiving an excellent education, and despite no standardized testing, we were told they were doing wonderfully and we believed it -- eagerly paying tuition to give our girls the best we could, like many other patents. Then, in 2022, the teacher's aid for our youngest daughter's class was accused, and now convicted, of molesting several children in her preschool class. This is a horrible event that can occur anywhere, but it was the school's response that was the damning part. Raintree did not respond as they should have. Imagine if the principal at your child's school found out that an employee was molesting a 3 year old, and when the employee began confessing... the principal advised the molester to stop talking to the police -- because, the owner of Raintree did exactly that. Further, the owners essentially ignored the parents of the victims, and they didn't want to talk with any parents about these events. They did eventually implement changes to policies that should have never existed -- no longer were very young children left alone in dark, curtained rooms for nap time, with a single teacher/aid, and fortunately no longer were aids/assistants allowed to work under the direct supervision of a family member. We asked for further changes, such as cameras and for our children to not be undressed publicly for swimming, and as parents we started a PTO to suggest further improvements for our children's safety, but the administration resisted all of our efforts at changes. The original core group of parents who founded the PTO left active involvement out of frustration, or left Raintree entirely, and the organization quickly became little more than a coordinating unit for volunteer opportunities. Several years ago, two of our close friends removed their children (one in 1st, the other in 3rd grade) from Raintree, moving them to the public schools. The public entry testing indicated both children (from different families in different classrooms) were very behind for their grade levels, scoring in the 20 to 30 percentiles in reading and math. At first we still thought our own children were fine, but then we noticed our kids didn't know the math we would have known at that age, they couldn't read a clock, and they were very poor readers when we checked out library books appropriate for their ages. When we had our girls tested, one tested under the 40 percentile in reading, 30s in math, and the other was in the 30 and 20 percentiles, respectively. This was finally what pushed us over the edge, and we left two years ago. Leaving Raintree has been one of the best decisions we have made for our children. We feel our children are far safer in the public schools, the administration at the public schools are far more communicative with us as parents, and the education is much better. After nearly 2 years of hard work by their teachers, and countless hours of at-home tutoring, they are both in 80+ percentiles in every subject. Finally, we don't feel cheated anymore by Raintree. I resent Raintree for making me think we were doing the best thing for our children, and I regret ignoring the many warning signs and "drinking the Koolaide" that this was a good environment for our children. Our children are certainly far happier than they ever were at Raintree -- even they understand that the education in the USD479 schools are superior, and they greatly enjoy the far broader range of afterschool and inschool activities. I am far more impressed with the steps the public schools take to keep our children safe. The staff and administration are fantastic. The one time one of my children was bullied on a Friday, the principal called us Saturday morning, talked over an hour, talked with the families of the "bullying" kids over the weekend, and by Monday everything had been resolved. I advise any family to carefully consider their decision to send a child to Raintree. I strongly suggest you take advantage of the wonderful schools we have available for free (or really supported by our rather high property taxes) and say that $12-15k/year tuition for their future college or trade school education.

We moved to Little Rock, Arkansas for two years when the oldest was in lower elementary. No Montessori school in that city came close in comparison to Raintree Montessori. We are more than satisfied with the education our children received in this caring, inclusive, nurturing, and positive learning environment. Both have graduated from college with honors. Our investment in their early education paid off with both students receiving academic scholarships. There can always be issues no matter the school. We simply work together to solve them, keeping the child's best interest in mind. We liked Raintree so much that I chose to work here. Now I help other families discover this amazing place to educate children.

When I was…read moreready to return to work we looked at several places for daycare, but chose Stepping Stones since they cook all the kids healthy meals and snacks in house with quality fresh foods, do a lot of music and art with them, dance, play outside, science, and much much more. It truly is a Learning Center, but it also felt like visiting family whenever we'd pick up or drop off our son. It isn't like the super rigid more expensive day cares that don't allow the kids to be kids. The kids were so happy here! They are so well cared for and our son was always excited to go to school. He learned so many new words and good behaviors and they always communicated any milestones or things we could work on, and gave us the advice we needed. They are also a very clean and safe facility, and they went above and beyond using the Brightwheel app to give us updates about the day, diaper and clothing re-ups, and always called if they had any concerns they thought we should know. I completely trusted them and my family is so thankful they were there when we needed them. We needed to move out of Lawrence for new work and it is the only reason we no longer use their services. We highly recommend Stepping Stones for anyone who needs daycare and will always suggest it to our Lawrence friends.
