Three hours later we called, and the original cab company told us they do not do pick ups in Detroit, which is only 5 miles south of where we started in Royal Oak. The bartender called metropolitan cab, they were there in less than 5 minutes, and charged 1/2 of what the original cab driver charged. I will now use metropolitan cab every time. Additionally, this is the company with the fabulous purple cars =).

They even go and pick up a child's car seat from my parent's house so that I don't have to travel with one from the US, and then he returns it to them after our outbound journey. At first I was curious as to why their prices were a little bit higher than another guy i called, but then I found out it's because he is fully properly insured with his taxi license in both US and Canada. That means the other guys don't carry any insurance in the US, and that is just not worth it for me, especially when traveling with my family. I prefer to work with a company that is above-board and runs their business honestly. They certainly go the extra mile.
