Just left my LTC class today. HUARD HARRAL was out instructor and a very good one. The class may seem long (it is) but they keep it interesting so neither party is dreading it. You get a break every hour or so. Bring snacks and water if you might get hungry, they also have self serve coffee and snacks for purchase. (Chips, cookies, things to get you by) Total classroom hour is about 4 hours and then you take the test IMMEDIATELY. So I hope you were paying attention! They have their range test at Winchester Gallery. - The class overall: Our class was pretty full I would say. We had roughly 21 or so people. Don't feel discouraged or anything because they're really there to teach you, and you're really there to learn. They recommend you bring a pen. I recommend you bring a pen and paper(s). Taking notes helped a lot. Their way of teaching really helps you understand. That is the point right? No one wants failing students, and we ourselves DONT want to fail either. But if you pay attention it's an easy 100! - The instructor(s): HUARD was our main instructor, he taught everything you needed to know for the class. He had two guys to help manage things along the way. Which was great especially when it came to the range. Because Lord knows I kept making their time difficult. - The range: Indoor range, not too far from the learning building. Maybe 3 minutes. 5 tops if you get caught at all the red lights. Def. bring some ear and eye protection. But they do offer ear plugs for forgetful beings like me. I'm blind in one eye but it's okay because I still passed! 225/250 (If you're worried about the range part, do practice a few times before taking your tests.) or wing it like me and hope for the best. (Still do your best to aim though) I'm partially blinded in my right eye so all of my shots were mainly to one side. Disappointing. I know. - But overall experience is a 5/5. It was a great class. Some ppl new each other already in there but no worries I never felt uncomfortable or anything. Though I did get anxiety the night before which kept me up the whole night and I couldn't sleep because I, for some reason, was really nervous. So nervous that I couldn't even introduce myself properly. Lol I know smh at me. Turns out I had no reason to be nervous at all. :D Good luck everyone!

I signed up a group of high school seniors going off to college next year for a group lesson. My…read moremain goal was for them to learn some self defense. I stayed to watch the entire session and I was extremely impressed. Edwin really engaged the girls and made them think about their safety. He taught situational awareness and had them do several hours of hand to hand self defense moves. Most of these girls have never hit anything, so for them fight to protect themselves was very empowering. I learned many moves that my own self defense class didn't teach me. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting a refresher and all parents wanting to give their kids some knowledge on what to do if they are attacked. Edwin and Terry were great instructors and the girls were so pumped up leaving the studio. Money and time well spent!

They have been in business a long time and do all kinds of classes, self defense, wrestling, a weapons class, children's classes. We learned so many valuable things in a short period of time. Everything we learned may save our life one day. I think everyone should take these classes. It's very important. And the Texas Defense Academy is very professional. They are kind and welcoming and make you feel comfortable, remember your name and care about each person and commit to help each person learn at their pace. It was a wonderful experience.
