He taught us a lot about gun safety and proper way to handle fire arms. Spence is an extraordinary shooter and instructor. His credentials include years of military and federal government experience. He was my instructor from the time I first picked up a handgun and started Concealed Handgun License (CHL) training in August 2018. He taught me to disassemble and clean my handgun. Initially, we shot at targets from a static position. Now, we've progressed to defensive shooting which includes movement and use of targets and barriers as they might appear in real-life situations. Thanks to Spencer Dixon for making LTC class extra fun. What could have been a boring, d r a w n (yawn) o u t experience, ended up being a fun and informative learning experience. Yes, arrive early for class (15-20 minutes), and be prepared to have to hunt for a parking space at the range when you head over there. I recently completed the CHL Training Class delivered by Mr. Dixon. As an instructor he is thorough while maintaining a relaxed demeanor, readily responds to questions and takes the time to offer concise answers. After the 4-6 hour training session, students are well prepared for the written exam. On the firing line he sets expectations as to how the qualification process will proceed then makes sure all participants are ready and understand instructions for each round. I took the LTC/CHL course they offer and found it to be an excellent course and a very knowledgeable instructor. He even worked with students who had never even fired a hand gun before. That's above and beyond the scope of the class. Make sure you show up on time though it's a 1 day course and you must be on time or you will have to reschedule. This class was fun! Spencer is funny and explained everything so well. I was VERY nervous about taking the shooting test but Spencer and his assistant (I can't remember his name!!) helped so much by giving me tips and hints along the way which totally eased my nerves and helped me pass!
