I like tamales but the tamales de gallina were extra delicious. They are different than corn husk tamales because they use the banana leaves and it makes them extra moist. They melt in your mouth. We all got one to try and I ended up ordering a second one. The hibiscus drink was delicious and so was the sip of the melon I tried. We all got pupusas and I liked the revueltas one I got. They also have the jalapeno salsa verde my wife likes here. I did not like the nuegados so I won't get those again. I will be back for those tamales!

They were smaller than the ones we have gotten before but just as tender. Hubby ended up getting a second one. They had a lot of pupusas options so we opted to try different ones of those. I didn't really like what I got but what my husband got was great. The dessert nuegados we got were not my thing but I was glad to at least try them and my friend liked them so it all worked out. I would come back just for the tamales and to try other things. Oh and that salsa verde was excellent! Nashville, Tennessee has some great pupuserias and tonight I checked out La Esquina Pupuseria…read moreSalvadorana. Like most of the pupuserias that I have been in, this place is extremely humble and definitely offers little in the way of ambiance and atmosphere. There are a few tables and some cheap paintings and bric-a-brac hanging on the walls. Even my salt and pepper shaker were mismatched. But to me, this made me anticipate my dinner more. The process here is you place an order at the counter and when it is ready, they bring you your food. There was a bit of a language barrier, but the young lady taking my order was friendly and it was not really an issue. The menu was quite diverse and offered a nice selection of fillings for their pupusas. I opted to go with a mixed pupusa, a chorizo and cheese pupusa and a jalapeño and cheese pupusa. Then I noticed that they had tacos and impulsively ordered an asada taco. I chose a seat and before long, they brought me my feast and I have to say that it looked impressive. After my first bite, I decided not only did it look impressive, but it tasted even better than it looked. If you find yourself in Nashville, Tennessee, I would definitely recommend a visit here.

There were a lot of families on a Saturday morning, which was exactly the vibe my family was looking for. Loved the jars of curtido/slaw so I could customize my pupusas to my liking.
