They rent cabins which look very nice. Renting online was a breeze! We arrived 30 mins early like they requested and it took maybe 15 minutes to sign the documents and look over the unit. The staff was very friendly which is always helpful. Their units are brand new and have navigation which we found very helpful. The side by side was very clean when we picked it up. There is trail access right on their property which is very convenient. We'd love to go back and rent from them again and stay in a cabin as well. If you're anywhere in the area, I recommend renting a side by side from here or even renting a cabin.

They wanted to charge a card $1500 before I could rent a UTV. I rented one from Copper Country Rentals at The Trailside Lodge the day before and they had no such fee. I rented one from M&M Powersports the same morning and they had no such charge. Any business that would be any less than completely up front about a charge of that size is questionable at best in my opinion. Take your money elsewhere!!!

Rest rooms, showers and the laundry are kept very clean. We paid a little over $100/night and for that kind of money I'd expect concrete or asphalt pads instead of gravel. You'd better be confident in your travel plans because you pay in full at the time of your reservation and there are no refunds.

The kitchen is huge and has everything you need to cook and make coffee. The second floor consisted of the two en-suite bedrooms, a washer/dryer, and futon couch. There was also a shuffleboard and foosball table, although we didn't use any of these. My husband and I had our own bedroom on the second floor; I really loved the view of the Keweenaw Waterway and the town of Houghton just across from us. It was incredibly beautiful! Also, the price for two nights was NOT bad at all. When we stayed it was basically under $200 per night. A lot of other comparable places would easily charge an upwards of $500 per night! I feel a little sad that we didn't stay longer because I could have easily stayed here for at least a week, but alas, life gets in the way and I have to get back into the real world. But if I'm ever around Houghton, MI, I would totally come back here again!

More concerning was the wad of plugs erupting from the surge protector hanging from a nail on the wall. Coffee maker worked once, but not for the last couple mornings. Fridge was good. The water in the bathroom ran "hot" and "dangerously hot," somewhat randomly. At one point my husband had to leap out of the shower to avoid being scalded. No warning and no idea why it happened. Restaurant was a different story. Carla was charming and friendly. Food was delicious and the fish couldn't have been fresher if it was flopping. Good value for the money. Staff was wearing masks....mostly, LOL!

LaRose Wellness Retreat, hosted by Cheryl LaRose, passed both the safety and comfort test with flying colors! Cheryl was genuinely kind, and shared her attention equally amongst all the couples staying that weekend. Yay for human equality! Obviously, Cheryl is a wonderful hostess -- just a genuine human being! Staying with her really did feel like being at home (if home was on a beautiful lake with kayaks, a hot tub, and organic chocolate chip cookies available at all times). Our room had the touch of an interior designer. The decor is a harmonious blend of Scandinavian Modernity (a nod to the Scandinavian history in the area) with Old Country Charm. Her place is located close to downtown L'anse. You definitely can run around visiting all the attractions (waterfalls, hiking trails, Copper Harbor) or you can eat your weight in fresh fish and custard at all the mom n' pop restaurants. Your last option is to bring a book and alternate between reading in the hammock overlooking Lake Superior and reading in the hot tub like I did. Breakfast was a plethora of options (granola, strawberries/blueberries/mango and more fruit, coffee, boiled eggs, bread and jam, gluten free options, cold cereal fixings, and homemade peanut butter zucchini muffins to name a few). The NPS rangers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. If you have kids, there's a room full of kid-specific activities for the younger ones. The center was actually closed the first time I visited the UP two years ago, and so instead I took the Quincy mine tour. If you're claustrophobic or don't want to do the tour, I would say that this place covers a lot of what they present in the tour (minus actually being in the mine and having demonstrations, and some more mine specific things). The visitor center also holds a daily one hour tour with varying subjects, from geology to the history of the town. Don't miss it!

Casandra was clear with everything, very friendly and professional. Check-In: There were nonissues at all with this process. Casandra had given me clear instructions of the check in process digitally and we were able to connect later in person. Cleanliness: The cabin was super clean! All beds were fresh, floors were clean, refrigerator was clean, and the bathroom were cleaned. Price: The price note was fantastic for what we got! Amazing deal for sure! Overall Impression: As soon as we walked into the cabin and saw the kitchen and how stocked it was with all of the kitchen appliances and supplies we were blown away! Easily could have gone grocery shopping and cooked all kinds of meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Bedrooms were nice and cozy with comfortable beds to sleep on. We had a couch, lazy boy, and TV in the living room area. We didn't watch tv at all but we did test it and it worked fine lol. The area was really nice in general with all of the snow! There were several sledders in the area as well and there was no disturbances from anyone. Recommendation: Absolutely!! I highly recommend this place to stay when you are in the heart of Gods Country aka, the UP!

She shared how her family has been in the area since 1836. Her private living quarters are on site but she is always available via text or a phone call which was listed in the room if need be. Some of us sat in the spacious living room and visited in the evening.

You are on your own for food, water. Keurig was provided but refrigerator was defunct. Our room was dusty and tired. Older owner struggling to keep up. She's not hospitable. Reclusive with "Do Not Disturb" on her door. I think she just takes the money and runs. This place could be more welcoming with minimal effort.
