OVERALL I hereby declare that Hump Day is now officially…read moreWood Fire Pizza Wednesday! I'm a new fan of this locally-owned, family-operated pizzeria in Hobbs, NM. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 5 | Price: 4 PARKING Free plaza lot parking. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This medium-sized brick and mortar pizza place is located at the Navajo East Plaza on Navajo Drive. Inside it was a simple, clean design. The menu on the wall to the right cannot be missed nor can the large wood fire oven. High-top tables for two and a few tables for parties of maybe 6-8 in a group were available. THE GRUB Their pizzas come in two sizes: 8" (4 slices) 12" (8 slices) I opted for the 8" "New Mexican" ($11) which was their green chili chicken. It was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it; however, it was the perfect size for my ever-slowing metabolism. There was a bit of black residue on my fingers from the bottom of the thin crust that made contact with the wood fire oven, but I liked that smoky flavor and didn't mind that minor inconvenience. It wiped off easy with a paper towel. They have a pizza called "Boujee Lady" - LOL. Might have to try that one next time as it is pepperoni with "burrata cheese and finished with hot honey drizzle." Also, they offer an Italian Chopped Salad. It looked amazingly fresh. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB No kid's menu available. SERVICE Welcoming and quick to take my order on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. I barely had time to go through my to-do list and answer a few emails before my pizza was ready. MY FAVORITE PART... The New Mexican! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... It's not that recognizable from outside. Kind of plain Jane signage. I didn't even know this place existed even though I walked by a week beforehand. TIPS + Closed on Sundays. + They have an upcoming "Slasher Sale" October 14-19, 2024 - "Buy one get one 50% off"... Check their social media for those special hours: Instagram @woodfirepizzanm or https://www.facebook.com/WoodFirePizza + Order online for pickup or delivery at: https://www.woodfirepizzanm.com/ + Mobile pizza trailer also available to cater events!

It was freezing in there first of all. I was with my mom, and she is elderly. No seating outside…read morewhere it was warmer. Good: the sauce is way too salty. The crust had no flavor. I ordered the pizza with the truffle drizzle....no flavor of truffle at all...it was just oily on top. My mom had the pepperoni pizza, which ended up being even saltier. The salad we shared was premade in one of those clear boxes..nothing special about the salad... for 9.00, it was a sad disappointing salad. I wish the pizza had been better...

As far as pizza food trailers and trucks out of Hobbs, NM, Patio Pizza is the only one I have…read moretried. Their orange, white and black food trailer is easily recognizable, "Serving SENM & West, TX since 2016." The first time I tried them was at my nephew's birthday party. While the owners were extremely nice and generous & even gave us a quick tour of their snazzy trailer, their pizzas are good. Not great. Yet another case of "I wanted to love it, but..." Lol. My friend who made the orders, was ecstatic about the "Da Vinci" which entails "spinach, artichokes, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese & garlic olive oil." It was alright. I prefered "the 505" which combines "sausage, Hatch green chiles, mozzarella cheese and red sauce." It was more savory and delicious than even the plain cheese, pepperoni, and the slice of "3 Little Pigs" (pepperoni, Canadian bacon, sausage, mozzarella cheese & red sauce) that I tried. These are very thin pizzas. The edges were much too burned for me most of the time. This is very typical of wood-fired pizzas in my opinion. Even the culinary hub of the Greater Los Angeles area where I lived for 10 years. Also, their dough itself was not very flavorful or enjoyable to eat, so I dug into my brother and sister-in-law's kitchen to create my own dipping sauce. Maybe they've created some since I tried them last summer, but I haven't heard about it. Because the owners were so generous and kept the pizzas coming for our hungry crowd - plus I wasn't the one paying the tab and didn't have a say in "more 505s please" - I can't go lower than 4 stars even if they aren't my favorite pizzas.
