With Dr. Fox's help the cavities (10!) have been dealt with in the least intrusive, most effective way possible. I have a pretty shy, sensitive child and he never anguishes about going to the dentist. Through spacers, fillings, and even a fitted cap, he has experienced excellent care. He feels confident and trusts the staff and Dr. Fox. Everyone has been so lovely--from the front desk staff to the hygienists. I wouldn't think about changing dentists.

After her total botched job she took zero responsibility and as we were coming up with a plan to deal with her mistake she said disparaging things about my child in front of him! This place is all style and no substance. If you are looking for a thorough, patient, competent, supportive, kind pediatric dentist look elsewhere because this place isn't it. She's got a brutish bed side manner and isn't able to admit a mistake. In fact she'll blame it on your child. Zero stars if I could. Stay as far away as you can.

I was left there to wait with the tech and an uncomfortable suction shield/saliva ejector in my mouth. There was no apology and I was told my filling needed to cure which I think is a lie because they had used a curing light and I didn't have sit around while the second one supposidely cured after I expressed my dissatisfaction. It felt unprofessional and unsettling. From my understanding, this isn't standard practice during dental work, and I left feeling frustrated and unsure about the care I received. I think they overbook patients because I also had to wait awhile to be seen in the first place by the dentist. With a newborn at home I was not happy with the appointment running longer than I was told it would be.

I have a lot of dental anxiety and chronic illness, and he and his team made me feel so comfortable, and were so accommodating with my disabilities. I came here for help after a horrible experience at another local dentist -- I had been in pain for months despite my former dentist continuing to gaslight me and tell nothing was wrong after she did a filling. Dr. Blair very quickly was able to see from a 3D model he took, that the filling had been done wrong, that the first dentist had left a gap at the bottom exposing the nerve and letting food get trapped underneath, where it had caused an infection. I wound up needing antibiotics. Dr. Blair found the problem in just a few minutes and he fixed it in maybe 15-20 minutes. No pain or discomfort since. After all that needless suffering because of the previous dentist. To finally have relief from the agonizing tooth pain and to be able to chew food again is life changing, especially as someone who is in chronic body pain 24/7, every bit of relief is massive help. I am so grateful to Dr. Blair and his amazing staff, including the techs and reception and billing staff. Everyone has been so wonderful and it feels so nice to finally feel confident that I am in good hands, and they care about my wellbeing. We've had some rough experiences with other clinics with our older children who are now teenagers. They now look forward to their dental appointments rather than dreading the awkward encounters. The hygienists and assistants are all friendly and communicative. The kids appreciate how much effort they all put forth to make them feel included in the discussions and work done. The scheduling staff is friendly and accommodating. And lastly bit definitely not least, April is a pure gem! She works with the insurance and payment plans to ensure you're getting the most with what you have available, and she is very understanding and accommodating as well. I needed a new dentist and wanted a cleaning, so I chose this one. My first appointment included a…read morecomplete set of x-rays and a thorough exam. But most of the time was spent walking me through the $13,000 worth of dental care they claimed I needed, with the x-rays used as 'evidence". They recommended a 3-session "Deep Cleaning" that costs over $3,000, and five crowns. I have no insurance, so when I asked which crown was most urgent, the response was that all were equally urgent. Though merely "preventative." I requested a regular cleaning instead of the "Deep Cleaning" and they REFUSED to give me one. After previously telling me that would be part of this first visit. I've always had regular dental care from qualified professionals who always assured me that care options were my choice. And they all had the philosophy, "If it's stable, don't mess with it." It's very interesting that my previous dentist saw me 6 months ago and mentioned NONE of these problems. This leads me to the" conclusion that Gentle Dental is just trying to make a lot of money by urging unneeded treatments. My son looked them up on a consumer watchdog website and the vast majority of the comments said that very thing. Our bad for investing $100 in their "smile plan" up front. But I guess that's a small price to pay to find out that we need a different dentist. Gentle Dental, you're fired!

Also generally when you are doing monthly checkups (paid for in advance) you should have an availability that isn't a month out. If you had more staff and weren't only open four days a week till 4pm (one day a week at the Woodstock location), this wouldn't be an issue. Stop being greedy and hire more folks.

They also tried to upsell me on fluoride treatment. When I asked if it was covered on my insurance, the hygienist went to check and found out that it wasn't. You would think they would also know that all the other services were not covered as well ! 2 months later I get a bill from them. It turns out that they don't take my insurance!

Which, I'd been nervous about after I mistakenly went to a 'holistic' dentist for that, which cost so much, and took very long to redo. I had to go to a perio specialist, then to put my zirconia implant crown on, Dr Edwards did a whole procedure to do that perfectly. And I'm very grateful to him that I can now chew normally and not worry about it anymore. Being born without an adult tooth is no picnic, but luckily there are pros like Dr E to help us out with these things in life.

My first visit was due to extreme pain and abcess in an upper molar that was touching my sinus cavity. Dr. Kokoreva took time on a weekend evening to call me and help me manage the pain with OTC medication until I could come to the office for an extraction. Since my first visit I've been attending regular cleanings and exams every 6 months for the longest period of time since I was a child. I've had several crowns and many fillings... and through all of that I feel welcome and seen as a human being - I appreciate the kind and helpful staff. I'm so grateful to have found a kind and compassionate dentist whom I can work with long-term to eventually take care of all of the deferred work my teeth need. I have been so happy with the care at Compassion Family Dentistry that I recommended Dr. Kokoreva to my two adult children, and I'm happy to know they're receiving regular dental care again as well. Regarding the office location, it's a small private office in downtown Milwaukie across from an apartment building and bus stop, not far from the Trimet stop - on the same block as Cha Cha Cha Mexican Restaurant. I have never felt unsafe at any time. There are about 5-6 parking spots directly next to or in front of the office, a few more across the street in front of the apartment building, and then many more around the block within 2-3 minutes' walk.

She got 4 cavities filled in one day and my daughter didn't even cry. Dr. Koko tried to preserve as much as she could and recommended a treatment for the other 4.
