There's plenty of parking leading up to the huge playground and lots of places to sit and watch your little ones. It was clean and looked safe with tons of different levels to explore. Beyond the jungle gym is a baseball diamond and a large amount of Greenspace to hangout. Not a lot of shade but we did find a nice spot down the hill to paint pumpkins. The grass was neatly mowed and kept up well! Bonus points for trash cans spread throughout the playground. Highly recommend! I may even bring my own kiddo if we are ever in the area!

During our visit the majority of the equipment was in good working order. Parts of the playground were flooded due to recent rains. There were still plenty of areas to play on. Some spinning thing kept my middle child entertained while the older one was part of the clean up. We came to do a trash clean up, and boy did we have our work cut out for us. We cleaned what we could, but had to leave due to poor weather. Masks, cigarette butts, and beer bottles/cans were the items we found the most of. There was plenty of other trash too. Most of it was along the paved paths, and the edges of the playground.

I have a fitness membership-it's $25 for a CRC membership (for the YEAR!) which gets you into the center for open gyms and classes (Zumba, Yoga, Aerobics) and it's an extra $70/year (or $20/quarter) to use the fitness room. It doesn't get much better. The staff are friendly and will give you free reign of the place to walk around and check things out before you commit. It is a pretty basic place-two treadmills, three ellipticals, free weights, and a full assortment of weight machines. The cardio equipment works fine, but has been around awhile. The crowd is very diverse and friendly, and often rather scarce, but in the winter time and can get a bit crowded. They do also have a bathroom with a shower room and lockers. I've never used them, but wouldn't be afraid to. The hours are reasonable at 6:30-9 during the week-I can get in before or after work, but Saturdays could be better (9-noon). Parking is off-street and plentiful.

SWIMMERS BEWARE. UC…read moreRec is a world class facility, and I have been a community member [read: ADULT with ADULT schedule] for several years mainly for the joy of swimming in the natatorium. So, what's your two-star beef, lady? I swim long distances. I prefer deeper lanes for cooler water temperature and less turbulence. In order to ensure that I will procure my preferred lanes, I check the Aquatics Department's calendar and schedule my swims when the calendar states that 10 lanes will be available for lap swimming. A month ago, I was asked to vacate my lane and squeeze into one of the 5 shallow lanes in order to make room for a community swim team that had reserved the deeper lanes for their practice. Check my math here, but I think the calendar should have reflected that only 5 lanes were available at the time of the reservation. (As a side note, why does the team's reservation (or revenue) trump my monthly membership fee?). I left the Aquatics director a message to this effect. No call back. Fool me once. The same thing happened again today. Fool me twice, shame on me. There will be no third time. I've already cancelled my membership, as I indicated that I would in my message for the Aquatics Director. I will join a facility that values my time, schedule, and membership, in part, by keeping an accurate calendar. However, if you are ok with this type of shoddy operations' management, UC Rec is a fabulous place.

I mainly use its aquatics facility and this is a full size 50 meter Olympic pool that can also be turned around and used as 25 yards. I unfortunately do not use the other aspects of the recreation center because I'm not a UC student but I highly recommend the pool. If you are into swimming, there is also a masters team to join. The pool was heated to a comfortably warm temperature. They have both men's, women's, and family locker rooms. The family locker room was great because they had individual rooms that you could go in and fully close the door. My toddler loved the little slide, the water feature, and the lazy river. With all the different channels to choose from, they continue to show news channels which triggers PTSD for several veterans, who now avoid the Center. The Community Center can do better. If the News is so important to some, listen on your own device, rather than triggering trauma in those who have served our country. It's an easy fix.

I want to be able to swim with her family, so I went to get a membership. To my very pleasant surprise , their pool accepts Silver Sneakers, so I joined. I ate lunch with my daughter, and then went to her pool to do my deep water workout. All of the staff were friendly, and I was able to do my workout in pleasure. Excellent facilities, with 3 pools, one with a water slide, locker rooms with showers, and an onsite snack bar.
