When my horse, whom they have treated and seen several times, colicked at 5:40 on a Saturday I called them. The Brookings office is open on Saturday and closes at 5:30. Their answering service did NOT contact any one, even though they were actually still at their office. I was told to take my 30 year old horse, colicking, put him in a trailer and drive him 3 hours to Central Point. He wouldn't have survived a half an hour in a trailer. Fortunately I was able to find a compassionate, caring vet to come out and humanely euthanize him. Because we had to FIND another vet to help it meant my horse suffered for 2-1/2 hours! After he passed, it took multiple calls to get the manager to call me back. Her explanation was that the answering service messed up. That was three weeks ago. To date I've not even received a sympathy card for the loss of my horse, THEIR patient! Not one vet has responded or contacted me to even say they were sorry. I won't take a stuffed animal back to these uncaring people.

I have recently taken both my dogs to Dr. Barke, being new in town…read more Dog 1- had what I thought was a cyst that might need draining, along with an update on shots. Dr. Barke's Office is working with Covid rules, so they took him in while I waited in my car. However, Dr. Barke wanted to be able to tell me exactly what was going on with my dog. So she allowed me to come into the office, with my mask on, and stay at least 6' away from the examining table while she told me all she'd found, and why she wanted a blood test. She discovered that my dog was extremely low on thyroid, and that arthritis was making his joints hurt. She could tell by how he reacted to her touch, as well as how he moved. Long story short, she didn't skimp on time to just give him the shots and tell me the lump was a fat pocket. She has true care for the well-being of the animals in her care. He's a much happier, and friskier dog now that he's on corrective medication. Dog #2 - I nicknamed this dog Cujo because, even though he's small, he is a fear-biter and a screamer. I told them in advance, and they gave me a muzzle to put on him. They only had to give him his vaccinations, and trim his nails, but he was still a little pain in the butt! They couldn't have been nicer with him. It's difficult, because with Covid 19, I wasn't able to be in the room to settle him down for them. Letting them know his nasty temperament in advance made sure everyone came out unscathed! Dr. Barke gave me some ideas for what we could do in the future to keep him from stressing out, which was extremely helpful. My dogs are lucky to have such a good vet, and I'm very happy with their service.

Dr. Barbara Barke and her staff were professional and very friendly. They were well organized and took great care of our Lab. They had contacted our home vet and obtained our dog's medical history before we arrived. She discovered the problem right away and explained it to us. Treatment was performed and antibiotics and care instructions were provided. We are very happy with Dr. Barke and were fortunate to take our dog in to the Gold Beach Veterinary Clinic, as her situation would have only gotten worse. We are happy campers once again!

He has kept them extra days because he was not sure of their condition and wanted to monitor them closer when we have had issues over the years. He is the only vet we will go to even if we moved away from Brookings we would drive here to him(within reason) because we know the care they will receive.

I like that they are available 24 hours a day for emergencies. My dog has had 2 surgeries to remove cysts and had his teeth cleaned also. My cat had to have a few teeth removed and was in surgery for that as well. The Vet and Vet Tech kept in touch with me during these times and let me know how they were doing. I'm one of those obsessed owners with my pets and they were very knowledgeable and comforting. There are several Vets here. They get the most top notch Vets and yes some of them move after a few years. They relocate to open their own practices or raise their families. Right now our go to Vet is Dr. Jessie. She is the most compassionate Vet I've ever met and I've had animals my entire life. Dr. John is the owner and is fabulous too. I wouldn't hesitate to see any of the Vets on staff. They also have all the pet supplies you need. I buy Science Diet food there for both my dog and cat. I've gotten treats and dental chews, collars and toys. I have found the front of the house staff to be wonderful also. Highly recommend!!

I wanted to get my dog in, so they took him as an emergency, which it wasn't...charged me for a same day emergency visit, but the place was empty! They dropped his blood sample so I had to take him back...the place was still empty. A couple of days later I returned his stool sample...still empty...maybe 4 or 5 cars in the lot every time I went there. Apparently they find room and charge the $165. same day emergency fee for anyone who doesn't want to wait 9 months!! i wish I could give them negative stars. They are gouging people in Brookings because they can!!!

He was sick with an upper respiratory issue from a new Siamese kitten we'd gotten recently. Schumi is a purebred Siamese, gentle and loving, afraid of everyone but family. He was there for a checkup and a shot of antibiotics, they told me to bring him in between 8-9 am and they'd have him for the day. When I picked him up, I was told to never bring him back, I was told he was a vicious animal and it was too dangerous for the Dr. and staff. I don't know what happened to him in the back where they took him, but for him to act out in a threatening way as they accused him of something certainly did. He's "never" been anything but a loving lap cat who loves to eat. Schumi was sick, he hadn't eaten or drunk water for a couple of days, he was in bad shape, lethargic, just sleeping all day, and had lost his voice too. I was shocked, and still am two months later, something bad happened, and apparently, the staff and Dr. are lacking in the basic animal handling skills to safely give a quick look over and a simple shot. I will not be taking my now three Siamese cats back ever again. I would not reccomend Brookings Harbor Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Jeff seemed caring and nice every visit I was there with my cats, what happens behind your back, WATCH OUT!!!! I should have read these reviews before I got my cats started there, I see a pattern now after reading all of his reviews.

I finally got an appointment for April 1st at Bandon Veterinary Hospital in Bandon Oregon. I trailered both Ari & Butternut the 1 1/2 hours to get their Coggins pulled & their health cert. As some of you know...some states allow the Extended CVI for 6 months & Oregon is one of those. So is California where I'm hoping to be headed April 15th for a clinic. Help me understand how a licensed vet doesn't know this. Help me understand why I should make multiple calls to get it done. Help me understand why a licensed vet would omit a brand marking. Help me understand how a licensed vet mistakes a mare for a gelding. Help me understand why a licensed vet would lie to me about the Oregon Agriculture Department not allowing an extended CVI. I called them myself. I cannot travel interstate without this.
