Decided to try this out for the 4th of July weekend. Kind of shocked and excited we found it considering we were late booking trips for summer. After we arrived we realized why. All spots are on a steep incline. Majority of park occupied by full time campers living. A lot of marijuana smell and odd people coming out of campers at night. RV spots very narrow so no space to set up unless you do not mind picnic table over other rv spot sewer hose. No service at all so make sure you bring everything you need. The pool was over occupied which is probably due to complete lack of space or sitting for anyone. The putt putt golf was basically dirt. E-bikes very dangerous unless you are a pro because of the steep slopes. No paths for walking. I'd recommend trying anything else first. The drive is pretty long and winding so really not worth the drive. read more

We stayed the end of July for 2 days Thurs-Sat via tent. Campground is a decent size but is on a slope/hill. Got lost on where to go since some of the numbers for campsites are difficult to locate. Overall, campground needs a major upgrade as it looks really run down, pool was fun but that's pretty much it. On the fence whether we want to go back or not. Bathrooms and showers need major upgrade and upkeep. Pros: Friendly staff at check in. Pool is huge and deep (9.5 ft deep on one end) and not heated Spray ground Playground Minimal mosquito issues Price Ease of booking campsite Didn't have to worry about bears and putting things in bear bins Cons: Outside staff that drives by don't look too happy to be there Bathrooms near the pool area is extremely dingy/dirty and no door to toilet just open for everyone to see plus the shower next to it was gross. Bathrooms near the tent area were also extremely dingy/dirty. Floors were muddy. Toilet stalls were so narrow that when you turned to squat down the toilet, your face can the touch the door. Showers were gross too. But plenty of hot water. Dusty near the tent area and a lot of dirt gets kicked up especially when people drive too fast. Arcade is outdated. We've seen it go through ownership and management changes and are delighted to say that this year's experience was one of the best. They've done a lot/many small and large improvements to the property. They deserve kudos for their staff, new air conditioning units, new bedspreads and pillows, plasticware, amenities, arcade, pool, mini golf, horseshoe pits, etc., They also accommodate RVs and tents. July 15th-19th 2025 was my family's first time not only visiting Pine Grove, but staying at this Resort! It is absolutely a beautiful place to stay! My daughter (who's 10) had a BLAST! We stayed in cabin number seven (7) and it was absolutely SO ADORABLE and SO CLEAN! The bed was comfortable, the water pressure was great, and all the anemeties were provided! It REALLY made our travel from Pgh, PA to the West Coast so much easier! The office and maintenance staff was BY FAR so welcoming and very attentive! They provided such a fun and family environment, and answered any and all questions we had before and after our arrival! THANK YOU GC for such a memorable and fantastic vacation! It was a nice spot to meet our needs. We had those who stayed in the cottage. We had a camper group that loves the full hookups. We enjoy the dry camping but went with the hookups to stay in close proximity to our tribe. The full hookup spaces had some really nice separation. No looking out the window to see your neighbor just a few feet away. The spots are variable in terms of size. Ours had a very limited spot for a table and a fire ring. We ended up at the cottages to accommodate our group gatherings in a more spacious setting. read more

The hookups for trailers are situated so waste water has to flow uphill making the waste water sit in the hose that is supposed to drain the dirty water into the campgrounds sewer system. This problem resulted in water backing up into our trailer soaking part of the bedroom carpet. If you choose to pay over $100/night to camp with full hookups you should ask for a site where the hookups are lower than your trailers waste tubing allowing gravity dump the dirty water into the sewer system. read more

We joined in on our family's annual camping trip. Let me just say I was not prepared for the 30 degree difference in weather from San franchisco to wherever Gold country is. We had a great time with our family. The staff at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. They made fresh coffee which I appreciated. The room itself is a standard room. Certainly not what I'm used to but it got the job done. The air in the room didn't keep our room cool. Thankfully the pool was was really cold so that helped offset the heat. We stayed at Gold Country Campground on Labor Day weekend 09/03/21 - 09/06/21 in our 28 foot Travel Trailer. We reserved and stayed in Deluxe site #33, which was a FHU site. Site 33 was okay. It definitely was not "Deluxe". It was a gravel site, somewhat level, that hadn't been cleaned or had any upkeep in some time. A lot of beer bottle caps and debris was in the site. It was a gravel pad with dirt. It was surprisingly, a pull through site, which was not advertised on their website. The electric hook up panel was leaning badly and the protective outlet cover had broken off and was laying on the ground. We didn't use the bathrooms or showers. The on-site "store" had empty shelves and coolers. The office/store employees were not pleasant or exceptionally helpful, they were just "there". There were no kids activities or movie nights put on by the management. A few amenities are new, like the splash pad and wifi, but most are dated. The pool is definitely not heated and has no chairs or tables. The rec room games are mostly broken. The billiards table is lopsided and they only had 1 adult pool stick. The outdoor basketball hoop was broken and bent. The dog area was overgrown with no place to sit. This biggest downfall of Gold Country Campground was the management letting people living in the large group of permanent residents, run their generator all night, every night. I felt bad for all the tent campers that had to listen to it all night. Gold Country Campground is clearly stuck in between two eras and needs some serious investment to improve the guests experience. I would stop here in a pinch, but I can't say I'd ever recommend it to anyone. read more

We camped here for five weeks in our (47ft) Voltage toyhauler. This was our second visit-first was in 2021. We cannot say enough positive things about this campground! From the friendly women greeting you at the front desk, the steady presence of the crew keeping the whole campground clean and tidy (thank you Eric and Daryll!) and the manager who actually is out and about the grounds most everyday and evenings making sure all was well-we were impressed. Our site was spacious enough for our rig, truck and bikes with plenty of space behind to enjoy the firepit and picnic table. And from what we see, every site is newly graveled for your camper and trees pruned nicely to provide privacy between sites. My husband had no problem parking our rig and the power (50 amp), internet (included with site) and water pressure worked perfectly our entire visit. There are 2 large dumpsters for campground that were never untidy and we appreciated the rubber lids as we were close to one and they significantly reduce the noise when closed. Our family stayed in cabin 3, which was simply furnished and impeccably cleaned. They loved the water park and pool and the playground was a huge hit with the little ones. This is an excellent family campground that has kept its rustic ambience. It is beautifully managed and we honestly have no negative comments because they really do everything they can to make your stay there a nice experience! Town is a 5 min. drive away and easily provides most everything you might need or want on your trip. read more

This campground has a nice area and lots of amenities, however, one of the staff was rude and mean. My partner and I were heading to the bathroom and this guy (older gentleman with a beard wearing yellow shirt) campground staff told us, "you guys are not allowed to charge in the bathroom, I better not catch you guys charging there when I come back." He stared at us like we were not welcome in the campground that we paid to stay for 3 nights. He could have told us nicely. The guy assumed that we are going to charge in the bathroom. We were just carrying a powerbank for our phone. It will be a different story if we had done that and he warned us for a second time. Then that will be our fault. We know that other campers are not abiding by campground rules, that's probably why the guy acted that way and we know that he was just doing his job as well, but he could have been nice to the way he interacted with us and to not make assumptions. He should not generalize. The campground is really nice with many amenities for kids and adults but could vastly improve with their customer service. Another thing, they kept on following us and seemed to be focusing on us. He kept on reminding us that we had to leave because our check out time is nearing but clearly we have been packing our stuff and getting ready to leave. Also, we wanted to swim for the last time before leaving but had informed us that we can't anymore due to liability issue. They were not doing that with the others. We have never felt this unwanted in a place and we have been to so many camping place before. Would not recommend this place to any of my friends and family! The owner and management of this place likes to gaslight the customers complaints and concerns instead of fixing and taking the negative review as a lesson to improve their services. Just stayed here Friday-Sunday 12pm August 11th. Temperatures were 95 & 90s sat and sun. It was hot but the pool & splash pad helped the kids & adults stray cool. Not much bugs, there's trees to set up a hammock on our site #94 and it's not to far from the bathroom, maybe a minute walk. I reserved a pull through. They wanted 1/2 in advance to hold it. My check in day, went to office to get my space #. I have a 38' 5th wheel and a long bed F-350. If I pulled through, my truck would have gone a embankment. I damaged my trailer with my tool box. I went back to the office and requested another site. They gave me a back-in site. Tree's everywhere, stumps covered with pine needles and other dead vegetation. I was too long for the r.v. site. I damaged my 5th wheel by side-swiping a tree, broke the bolts to my toilet by running stumps. I went back to the office, they already requested the payment from my bank for the balance due. I'm going to the next investors meeting, and let them know that the dumb idiots that assign the sites are not covered by the refund policy. Plus the manager followed me to my truck and said that she would refund my money. But (now) denies saying it!! Plus I'm trying to turn them in to the BBB. Shame on you!! read more

There are many nice things about the facilities but the staff and owners do a poor job with customer service. After there 10pm quite hours time begins if people are being noisy you call a number. This goes to an answering service and then the message is passed through to the people on site. Well there were very noisy people to say the least. The response from the camp site was to simply drive past but not approach the people to talk to them. The same people began to yell at their children and scream very rude things at each. When we call the number for the second time they seemed upset to be getting calls and no one came out. So at 11pm we had to pack up our family and leave. No refund offered or follow up with us has been made at this point. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else. read more

This is a pretty nice campground overall. Our site lacked any trees and there were 3 large rocks too close from the front door which made it difficult to setup an outside area to kick back in. The splash Zone was on when we got there on Monday but they turn it off until Thursday, our grandkids were disappointed at that. The pool was open but cold, we didn't appreciate that! There are several parks and a cavern nearby and a small little town. It's a very nice area with pine, cedar and oak trees. read more

We really enjoy this campground. We come a few times a year. The campsites and amenities are always clean. Certain spots are better than others so if you're picky I'd call, because some are pretty narrow and ask for a recommendation. The staff are always friendly when we come. They are strict about dogs on leashes and not in certain areas so that's something to keep in mind if you don't like that. I hope their Halloween weekends keep getting bigger and better, we enjoyed their effort this year. The bathrooms and showers are very clean. It would be nice to have a shower bench in the shower for your clothes to sit on. Other than that we always enjoy our time. We have never stayed in a hotel room or cabin so can't comment on those. read more

We have been coming every year in June for a family reunion and have always enjoyed our time here. This is the first time we have camped here in the Fall. The activities for the Halloween weekend were great for the kids. I'd recommend doing a corn hole tournament for next year! Really appreciate the hot dog lunch! My only suggestion for the trick or treating is maybe having campers post a "I'm participating" sign so we knew which sites were passing out candy ahead of time. My experience at the campgrounds was "eh." It's pretty run-down with many of the activities advertised on the website not put on (like the clubhouses and movie nights). Their game room was lacking a bit (but it is a campground and not an arcade) and the mini golf courses were a little worn down. It costs $5/hr to play the pool table btw. The pool and water park areas were okay (the pool was a little dirty, but swimmable), however there are no chairs or anywhere to sit. The pool also closes pretty early (5pm) and it was 80 degrees are nighttime so that was little disappointing. The front desk staff weren't the most friendliest and I felt uncomfortable every time I went inside (however there were 2 employees that were kind). The bathrooms for the most part were clean and useable, but the showers had a lot of bugs and dirt stains. They also didn't restock many things like paper towels in the week I was there. I went early August and there weren't many people, making it a little creepy at night. It didn't help that there was a mountain lion walking near us at nighttime and that there's a hornet problem. Overall, for $56/night it wasn't that bad, but some of their website photos are misleading and I wouldn't spend more than 2-3 days here. read more

We stayed at the Gold Country Campground Resort from 9/20/2021 to 9/26/2021. The Grounds are very nice and the place has the infrastructure to be a great resort. However, most of the staff who work at the place are the problem as they are not friendly or helpful at all. They all seem to have a piss-poor attitude and when you asked any questions of them it was as if you were bothering them. The long term resident section looked run down and one of them ran a generator 24 hours. I think that the owners of this resort could make this place a gem if they only replaced most of the current staff and required the long terms to clean up the place. We would not return to the Gold Country Campground Resort. read more

However I don't understand the negative responses from some of these people, they say that it's messy, not kept up and the staff is rude but we have seen none of this to be true. I called in on August 18th to book a room. I was told to call back the next morning as Chloe was the person I should talk to in regards to group bookings and receiving a discount. I called and could immediately tell that Chloe was frustrated that the other person "couldn't/didn't know how" to book me the previous day. She ended up booking me for a double room for two nights at the lodge and giving me a 10% discount because our group had 10+ sites booked altogether. I was told that I need to pay half then and the other half would automatically come out of my account the Wednesday before my booking. I paid $150 that day. Fast forward to September 6th when $180 came out of my account. I called to ask why it was that much when it should have been the other half ($150). The lady on the phone told me a note was put in the system that I wasn't a part of a group and wouldn't receive the 10% discount. I asked her to clarify what that meant. I was informed that apparently it has to be a 10+ sites and you must stay 4 or more nights. Nobody bothered to call me and tell me that I was no longer receiving the discount, they just decided to take it out of my account. The most confusing part is that under "Specials" all it says is "10+ sites" and then in another part of their website it says the 4+ nights (picture included). When I arrived is where it started to get really bad. It was close to 5pm on Friday and I was 8 minutes away from arriving and received a call from the office telling me that they were closing and were going to give me my room code and that I just needed to come in and sign the paperwork the next morning. The next morning I went in with my boyfriend and sister. Management at the desk asked if we were checking in. I proceeded to say no that we already got the code for our room and the lady over the phone had told us to just come in and sign the paperwork. It was silent for a second and then in the most condescending tone she asked me "what checking in was to me." I paused for second and then said you guys had already given us our room code over the phone and we stayed the night in the room...she proceeded to tell me that they "let" us stay in the room and then moved her hands in a circular motion over the paperwork and said this is checking in. Both people I was with said it was extremely unnecessary and condescending. The worst part is the entire conversation could have been avoided if their website wasn't so confusing and if they updated their business hours on it. They charged me rates for peak season and on their website it states that they close at 8pm during peak season, not 5pm (picture included) On the website it states that a double room's maximum occupancy is 4 people (picture included). I have 3 people on my reservation summary and we only had 3 people. Yet, I received an "extra person fee" for $10 per night. Why am I receiving fees for having 3 people which is under the maximum occupancy? I also checked with another family of four that stayed in a double room as well and they were not charged any extra person fees. The rooms were disgusting. Spiders and webs in practically every corner (pictures included). The beds were so uncomfortable. I could have gone into the office to ask about the extra fees after the fact but the way I was treated from the very beginning was extremely unprofessional. It felt like such a hostile environment, I didn't even want to go back in there to be belittled once again. I ended up cutting my trip short and leaving the second night. It's honestly sad because I have been coming to this campground since I was a child. I used to love coming and the memories that were made. Unfortunately, that was my last trip there and I will not be back. Praying for this place and the current management that is in place. read more

Location is decent, it's a bit rundown but overall not terribly bad. Set-up nicely for family gatherings and plenty of activities for children, with lots of potential to be great. The new management & crew at Gold Country Campground Resort absolutely need a course in hospitality and customer service, if they expect repeat customers and new ones to return. The restrooms were continuously without supplies and the parking lot is unavailable for parking, even for very brief amounts of time. As another review has mentioned, the prices have gone up outrageously, and while they said it is to provide upgrades throughout the resort, we also saw no upgrades to justify the absurd increases. Therefore, my family will not be coming back here, after many years of annual trips. After seeing their responses to negative reviews here on Google and here on Yelp, it's evident that they have no interest in taking any of these reviews into consideration and maybe reflecting on how they could run a better business and receive continued support by repeat customers. Instead it sounds like they would rather place blame on everyone else, and evidently have plenty of time on their hands to do so. Perhaps if they spent as much time reflecting as they do on the defense, then this place would be thriving. We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend and it was a great experience! The sites are large, heavily shaded, and our site was in close proximity to the bathroom, pool, splash pad, mini-golf course and game room. I was skeptical before we arrived as there are quite a few negative reviews upon researching but we had a wonderful time. The owners and staff were friendly, and greeted us multiple times during our stay. There are rules as with any campground and I found it refreshing they were actually enforced. We had a large party camp next to us that was not respectful of quiet hours and it was addressed so everyone could enjoy themselves and attempt to get some decent shuteye! Only cons was that the tent bathroom showers were very dated and dirty. I would recommend using the pool shower instead if you want to shower. Looking forward to returning again next year! read more

I would Absolutely leave zero stars if I could this place ruined my only getaway in almost 4 years. We were supposed to rent a cabin and we're bait and switched into renting a room off of the office. The "unlucky number seven was so disgusting that I felt like I had been in a horrible horror movie. There were spiderwebs from years years past the sink didn't drain absolutely ran down the place was disgusting the bed was something I've seen in the dump it was absolutely disgusting there's no way you should ever rent these rooms out. I have so many photos of this absolutely disgusting room that that cleaning lady had said she had just "cleaned it" when we got there this place hasn't been cleaned in years we asked to move to a cabin that we wanted originally and were told they weren't available cause they weren't cleaned. Spider egg sacs in the room. The refrigerator didn't work nor did the microwave. Also the bed was broken in the middle. So run down. Don't go here. The place is run down and crappy and the staff is completely unfriendly and unhelpful. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! read more

**FRAUD ALERT** I received an email from Gold Country Camping Resort soliciting us to come and stay. In that email, it had a button to make a reservation. I made a reservation, paid my $85 deposit, printed the receipt and a few weeks later went to enjoy several days of RVing. We get there and we don't have a reservation? They blamed the booking system that they use? The result, No site for us, No refund, ZERO help or compassion. Left to scramble for an open site at another campground. My family and I have been coming to gold country campground for over three years and will not be going back. We came here during ski season because the price was fair and the commute to kirkwood was not terrible. There were times where the power went out, hot water didnt work and of course the spiders in the corners that everyone mentions but that didnt bother us. For $99 a night we could deal with that (note the prices have since been raised to $130). However the last time we were there this awful woman anna marie ambushed us in her golf cart, another golf cart and a green jeep. There must have been 6-7 people that circled us because we had a fire at 7pm. They made us put the fire out and were very mean about it. The worst part is I went back an hour later to collect my fire wood and they were all still there chuckling about it. The location and campsite is great but the people that run it are the absolute worst. Also if you are a person of color dont expect to feel comfortable here. Save your money. I'm a local to the area and have never been more disappointed by service. The staff are legitimately terrible. Asked for a broom for the cabins we are renting as it was muddy the first day and the floors need to be swept. I was met with a nasty "no" and the excuse that there is only ONE broom for this entire campground. For $175+ a night, the six person cabin is quite disappointing. Upon arrival, we realized the cabin hadn't been cleaned in what seems like months. Spider webs everywhere, on every fixture, every light, and every window. The place hadn't been dusted either. The ceiling fans had built up dust and grime that made it scary to turn on with the fear of the dust circulating and getting us all sick. The kicker was, when we went to cook our Easter turkey, the oven was so caked and dirty that it immediately began smoking. No exhaust fan to help mitigate the smoke either. When we called to ask about the smoke/oven - the staff said the best they could do is write up our feedback. No resolution. A $1K weekend and this experience was definitely not worth it. It's clear the owner takes no pride or responsibility for this property and could care less about his reputation. read more

I had read the reviews about this place and some were not great. My husband and I pulled in late Friday evening and initially the electricity was not working in our space .Two men came out (Darren and Randy) to try to remedy the the problem to no avail. The wonderful Ladies down in the front office switched us to another spot that was even prettier . They were so nice and helpful! This place is very rustic it is positioned amongst the pine trees ,the pads are gravel and dirt. There's a beautiful hiking trail around the campground and lots of room for everyone. We were their for the first weekend of the Halloween festivities. Campers decorated for Halloween and the kids went trick or treating to the campsites. We stayed at Gold Country for a few weeks during the winter so most of the things where closed. They have mini golf, swimming pool and a small water park to run through with a game room that has a pool table a few arcade games. This park has a lot of potential if they would clean it up we couldn't use the restrooms/showers they hadn't been cleaned in months the laundry room is next to the office and hotel rooms due to people/ workers smoking right outside the front door this laundry room stinked and the machines where filthy always had pet hair on inside everytime I went in and the floors where dirty and due to the odor all my clothes came out smelling of stale cigarette smoke I had to go all the way into Jackson to do my laundry It costed a lot more than the laundry room at the park. The thing you first notice when driving in is all the junk and trash around the long term RV parking you can tell some these people have been there a while. The rest of the RV park is nice. Tent camping was closed due to winter the sites looked nice and a little close to each other. I did peek int the windows of the hotel rooms they looked clean with 32" flat screen on the wall, no pictures on the walls. I saw a air conditioner in one of the rooms that was in plugged into the bathroom sink area. The Cabins are on the other side of the park I can't review them as I didn't go in, but they are all together. They have a dog park that was fenced in. The office closed at 3:00 and there was no employees around, there is always someone in the office the lady with the blonde hair is nice however the. Gentleman who works behind the counter I believe it was his daughter or niece behind the counter with him she was very rude she has a lot to learn about customer service. Inside the front office they sell a few things not much but it is winter, they charge $1.50 for a cup of coffee but go before they close. There is NO Propane sold in the park you have to go back into town to Feed Store they close at 5:00. There is no fires permitted in the RV park I don't know about camping. There is a club room for events And an Outdoor Theater for movies I guess during Summer. The people that work there are all very nice I believe they all live through out the park in mobile homes and cabins. The trees are beautiful, there is a home made ice cream parlor mile back to town and a small home town grocery store. I drove 20 mins. back into Jackson to Safeway. My finial thought is This park would be a lot nicer and a perfect place to stay if they would clean it up especially the restrooms, and not let the long term people leave there junk around. Pricing is very reasonable there are some electric meters on some of the sites. This is a perfect place to stay in the Summer if you have kids there's lots to do, They do keep your credit card on file so beware of this.... Booked 2 nights Friday and Saturday. First timers at this camp ground. Checked in Friday July 21st at around 5 pm staff was super friendly and thought this would be a good first time experience. Turns out everything but that!! I made the best of it since I went with family. First night there and my 2 daughters and a friend were in the tent telling stories and laughing and having a good time. Then at 10:24pm we hear yelling coming from my daughters tent area!! Well it was a manager named "Anna Maria" yelling at my daughter "oh now you want to be quite!" as she approached their tent flashing a light into their tent. Continued to yell at them "I can hear you guys all the way from across the camp ground!" Which there is no way! They were not half as loud as everyone was being until 4 am both nights we were there. We didn't call and complain about everyone else because honestly they didn't bother us but the fact that they never got told or approached like my kids did rubbed me the wrong way! Anyway they got scared cause they couldn't tell who she was. They asked "wait who are you?" She yelled at them and said "this is management and if you guys don't keep it down I will call the sheriffs on you guys to be escorted off the camp ground!" By this time I stepped in and said I'm sorry this is the first time here and apologized. She then shifted on me and said "yes mama read the rules" I didn't want to get into any type of argument with her so I said thank you and sorry. I went to check out Sunday morning and went to the office to speak to her about that night and how that wasn't cool what she told my underaged daughter that night she could've totally had a different approach about the whole situation. She was "on the phone" I was told by staff. Since I wasn't able to speak to her I thought maybe this review would be helpful for anyone who ever has any run in with this "Ana Maria" " (management) she is going to mess with someone's kids or a different situation who isn't as understanding as I was that night! Also her husband was with her that night and they both flashed the lights into my daughters tent trying to look, luckily they weren't getting dressed in there! This was the worst experience ever and also the bathrooms are not the cleanest and I'm being nice on saying they're not the cleanest. Pool closes at 7pm it's a little early if you ask me. They were also not the cleanest at all lots of bugs and water looked dirty! If I could I would give this place a zero if I could! I will never ever recommend this place to anybody! I am not writing this review because of 10 pm quite time I want to make sure everyone is aware of managements approach on things and how aggressive "Ana Maria" was with my children. read more

Great campground with horrible management. The campground itself is great, but the management is some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. We were there with many other families and every encounter anyone had with the management was met with absolute hostility, to the point that everyone walked on eggshells all weekend to avoid any further conflict. You can even see their hostility in their responses to all other negative reviews. I will not be returning as long as the current management is in place. I really hope the owners see this and all the other reviews regarding how horrible the new management is and make a change. read more
