Best place to train in town or anywhere near. Q makes you feel like you are family, and has developed some real Bjj beast.

Remember that Jiu jitsu isn't used to start fights, but to end them.

Our 4yr old son started learning BJJ from Chuy and his love for grappling has grown since. They're truly the best of friends - and it's important to build this relationship with your Professor. At this age, it's far more important that the kids develop a love for learning - and the short live rolls keep the kids engaged and motivated to get better. And developing a pretty complex back-taking technique and rear naked choke submission at this age is pretty remarkable! Our 8-yr old son who has been a BJJ competitor for almost two years loves working with both Chuy and his son Robert as well as all the other coaches at LJJA. They've helped him to fuse and evolve his grappling with his wrestling - something that is challenging to integrate especially at this age because of the two conflicting rule sets. His level-up since working with Chuy has been pretty awesome to see! When we cross train at other gyms, very often he is asked where he trains - and we say come down and visit LJJA! Truly proud of what Chuy and the team at LJJA are building! The city of Lincoln is very lucky to have this gem - I look forward to seeing them become one of the pillars of the community in the years to come!

We're regulars at the 5:30 AM Zombie Class -- yes, it's early, but 100% worth it! The atmosphere here is welcoming, supportive, and full of positive energy. Everyone we've trained with has been incredibly patient, caring, and fun to roll with. The instructors are fantastic across the board -- Keith goes above and beyond, dedicating a ton of his personal time to help us grow. David is calm, patient, and excellent at breaking things down, and I've really appreciated Alex's wisdom and thoughtful insights as well. Whether you're a complete beginner or experienced practitioner, this is one of the best jiu-jitsu studios in town. I highly recommend dropping in and becoming part of the Infinite family!

However, the details of instruction and the friendliness of everyone at Infinite, from the owner to beginners, is unmatched. Gustavo (owner/instructor) continues to compete and master his own craft while stressing the importance of technique over brute force to students. I appreciate this approach as an older practitioner, especially after training overseas at an MMA gym which had the opposite mentality. Gustavo is also supportive of kids and adults who want to compete and does his best to be mat-side with them at tournaments. Regarding the kids classes, I also appreciate the few minutes he spends a with them at the beginning of class talking about their day and trying to connect BJJ lessons to proper behavior off the mat.

In that time, I've trained all over the country and experienced a wide range of schools--but Waza BJJ stands out in every way. The owner, Derek Damano, is the real deal. He earned his black belt in 2006 from world champion Casio Werneck, and it shows in every class he teaches. On top of that, Derek is a Division 1 wrestler and has placed at multiple world-level international BJJ competitions. He's an elite athlete with an unparalleled depth of knowledge in grappling, both gi and no-gi, and one of the most well-rounded instructors you'll ever meet. Waza is home to a strong team of high-level black belts, and every assistant instructor brings their own flavor of excellence. The kids program is flourishing--the coaches are amazing, and the kids absolutely love being there. The environment is welcoming, structured, and fun. Beyond the instruction, the vibe at Waza is something special. Derek himself is probably one of the coolest guys in Jiu-Jitsu--laid-back, calm, funny, and just genuinely great to be around. He sets the tone for the entire academy. The facility is gorgeous--huge mat space, multiple bathrooms and changing areas, a clean waiting area for families, a kids' zone, and even a small cardio corner with machines for a quick workouts. Whether you're brand new to Jiu-Jitsu, looking for an amazing program for your kids, or already a black belt looking to sharpen your game, Waza BJJ is one of the best places you'll ever train. I personally love this place.
