I currently attended a work event here. There were about 40 of us and we utilized several of the axe throwing bays. Initially, my husband and I thought that we would never be able to actually stick an axe but once we got the hang of it, it was easy and FUN!!! There is a bar area along with a cute little photo of that says "I'm sexy and I throw it". This was an unexpected fun time. I think it would be great as an alternative to bowling. As I get ready for the zombie apocalypse Impact Axe provides a much needed skill set to cut your way through the hoards. My wife and I have seen axe throwing establishments pop up every where across the Greater Sacramento area. Now that the pandemic is in the rear view mirror it was time to get our throws on!! I was surprised how easy it was to throw the axe and score points. The staff gives a quick tutorial on safety procedures, watches you throw twice and then sent us out to battle the many enemies on the wooden board. Review During Covid: Impact Axe is such a fun place to go to with friends or even a date. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. Their pricing is based on how long you want your axe throwing session to last and the prices are listed on their website. You can even speed things up when you check in by filling out the digital liability waiver ahead of time. Impact Axe does have its own private parking so no street parking required. The place is fairly big so there is enough room to space out in between the axe throwing stations. The front is where you check in and also has a bench to sit down and change shoes if needed. Don't be an idiot like me and skip over the part in the rules where it mentions not to wear open toed shoes while throwing axes. I had on wedges because I was on a date so Impact Axe was nice enough to give me free socks and loan me tennis shoes to wear so that I could still throw some axes. Impact Axe does sell alcohol and food which you can order and bring to your table to eat and drink while you're throwing axes. I don't know if alcohol should necessarily mix with throwing axes, but I guess nothing has happened yet to the point where they have stopped selling alcohol. If you've never thrown an axe before, no worries. The staff there is very friendly & helpful and they all have masks on. They will give you a tutorial and tips on how to throw the axes. How to retrieve the axes safely and so on. There is also a little chalkboard at each of the stations so you can keep track of your scores. Throwing axes is so therapeutic and so much fun! I mean, it is kind of scary at first because you're thinking, I'm throwing this sharp weapon that can potentially bounce back and cut/amputate me, but then you kind of get over it. I was a little nervous when my friend suggested coming to Impact Axe. I mean, I've never thrown an axe before, could I even do this?? The answer is YES! Don't be nervous about coming here at all! The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. They give e you lots of tips to help you throw and get that bullseye! They also have a large selection of craft beers and hard seltzer drinks. They also have food catered in. We reserved a space for an hour for 4 people. That was enough time for us to play 3 games and have some practice. Super fun and something different! Came here yesterday for the first time. Nice, and clean small place but functional. They have beers, seltzers and sodas to buy to drink mainly in cans, but still a good selection. Pricing isn't to bad its 25 bucks per person for an hour. They showed us how to throw the axe and adjusted us on our distance and then let us play. They checked in on us from time to time to see how we were doing. Its like darts but with an axe and bigger target but equally as fun. Oh boy! Who knew throwing an axe would be so much fun!!! I came here with my family for my birthday. It was the second stop we made during a day filled with love and laughter. I had heard how fun this place was and always wanted to try it so we went! I picked it up pretty quickly and made several bullseyes. It became addicting and we were only there 90 mins. Here last weekend for a bachelor party and the entire experience was fantastic. Their customer-facing experience is top-notch. I spoke with both Kristie and Karen over the phone to book and then later amend the reservation, and both of them were courteous and hospitable. They were able to answer all my questions in advance which is always nice when you're making a group reservation. They recommended getting there a few minutes early to sign waivers in advance of our start time. When we showed up, we were warmly greeted by Karen and Kylie at the front desk and filled out paperwork/waivers. They made us feel right at home. The place is well maintained and the tables and bathrooms were clean. They were pretty busy (it was a Friday night) but the lane spacing is good and you don't feel cramped being in there. When it came time to throw, we received a short and valuable lesson from Jon on how to throw the axe, since none of us had done it before. Jon is just a fun force of nature. When he's not giving lessons to first-timers, he floats around and makes sure everyone's staying safe and having fun. He checked in on us several times throughout the night and made it feel like a family atmosphere. If you're really chewing up one of your boards, he'll offer to replace it for you with a fresh one. They've got a good selection of beers and snacks at the bar, and bartender Kristi was knowledgeable and helpful. With regards to the axe throwing, it's REALLY fun. The groom-to-be and other groomsmen were having such a fun time that we tacked on an extra half hour to the initial hour we had planned! It was a great way to kick off a great night. My girlfriends and I came to Impact Axe to celebrate my birthday. First, the staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Everyone was wearing masks and they had every other lane open to encourage social distancing. We had a group of 5 and did the 2 hour session which started which started with instructions on how to axe throw and all the safety rules. The staff constantly were checking in the customers throughout their visits to give pointers, encourage, and make sure everyone was having a great time. They have drinks and some snacks for sale which we enjoyed. There also were shirts and sweatshirts for sale (so fun and cute)!! The facility was extremely clean and inviting.
