I ordered the turkey single decker with lettuce mayo only. Bf got the bacon cheeseburger. We both got fries. We went thru the drive thru. We also got fries. My sandwich wasn't toasted per the description on the menu and had a ton of mayo making it in eatable. I tried to wipe the mayo off but it tore the bread all up. I ended up eating just the turkey. Very disappointed that they couldn't even get a sandwich right. Bf said the burger was ok but won't get it again. Only good thing were the fries. Those were good. read more

Seated ourselves , no other customers in the dining room. We were never greeted and after several minutes we left. We watched the 5 employees laugh as we got back in our car. Only recieved a standard response email. Management doesnt care about the service. read more

On 7/24/21 at 1;49 I ordered 3 cheese Coney with extreme cheese and a large Pepsi. When I was eating the second Coney I heard a loud crunch. I removed a piece of glass/ or hard plastic. I was horrified. I stopped eating my lunch and through the rest away. I returned to work. When I had a free moment I called and spoke to Jacob. He said he was the manager on duty but he couldn't help me but his Supervisor would call. Never received a call. I went in Tuesday and spoke to the Manager . She offer me 3 Cheese. I asked for a gift card. Again I got her supervisor would call me. NEVER DID. I hope this helps someone from getting injured. read more

So happy a Gold Star opened near me! My favorite restaurant. Staff is always very friendly! And of course the food is good. My only real complaints are the food definitely needs to be served warmer. Whenever I do drive thru by the time I get home 5 mins down the street my food is cold. Also staff needs to watch how they put food in bags. I've had my food spill into the bag twice now. Hmm. What happened to the chili at this location? Yesterday I ordered a three way. First attempt was lukewarm. Sent back. 2nd attempt was somewhat warmer but still not enough to melt the cheese. The other problem was the taste...there wasn't any. Nearly inedible. Gave up halfway through. And I normally love gold star chili. My wife had the burger. It was fine. Burger and fries were both hot. Love the new look and menu at Gold Star Chili! I am not a fan of their chili (a matter of opinion, I like the sweeter taste of Skyline), but I love Gold Star's salads and sandwiches and their Lattice chips. This location is always clean and service is quick. Also, the servers are very nice, and they want to get to know their customers. We feel like they want us there! My top recommendations are the Harvest Salad and any of the cold sandwiches. read more

Our server Crystal went above and beyond to make our visit great! Something was going on with the milkshake machine, and my shake was a little on the thin side. She brought it out to me to decide if I wanted it and said she was going to comp it. I thought it tasted just fine, but it was very thoughtful of her to let me know it wasn't up to her standards. We have eaten here a bunch since they opened. Recently it has gone down hill quickly. I understand the COVID thing messing with things but that doesn't stop you from reading simple instructions. I love gold star, but this is the second time I have been to this location and have had terrible service each time, food is not very hot, the second visit to this location we were told in the drive thru they no longer sold my favoritem on the menu, but to my surprise a friend went there later in the day and ordered that exact item! Problems began when I ordered chili cheese fries. The server informed me that the fryer was out of order, and asked if I'd rather a bag of chips. The main reason I chose Gold Star was for some chili cheese fries so I asked to have a minute to figure out what I wanted to do. Finally I decided a workable solution; I went ahead and placed the rest of my order. I ordered a small bowl of plain chili with cheese. I asked the server how much a bowl of chili costs because my wife and I could not find it on the menu. The server seemed to not know for sure and said she thinks it's three dollars and something. I said, "ok" and my family continued with their order. While waiting on my food I made a quick run across the street to burger King and ordered a large fry, and made it back to the table with time to spare. When I finally get my order the chili barely had any cheese. I made it work though and it tasted fine with my burger King fries. The rest of my order tasted alright except for the blue cheese that came on my burger had a rotten flavor, but I wouldn't have said anything about it because mostly everything else was good, and I try to get along. Honestly I felt like the entire dinner experience was dirty. Between making my own chili cheese fries with burger King fries, and the off taste of the blue cheese I just knew I would be feeling stomach sickness later, but still yet; I would have just chalked it up to a one-off bad experience, but when I looked over the check I couldn't believe what I saw. The (what I thought was a small) bowl of chili was $4.49; quite a bit more than the "three dollars and something" the server told me, but that wasn't even the worst part. The part I couldn't believe was the server rang up the cheese as a side order, so that light sprinkling atop my chili cost me a whopping $1.29 on top of the $4.49 for a plain bowl of chili. The high price was too much for me to swallow on top of everything else. A regular order of chili cheese fries was only $5.69. So now, because Gold Star Chili had to clean their deep fryer at dinner time my order of chili cheese fries cost $5.80 plus $2.00 for the Burger King fries. I paid nearly $8.00 for a product that was $5.69. To resolve this I went to the counter and explained the issue. The server seemed to understand just fine, but when she turned around to ask for help from someone in charge a guy working the cook station threw a minor temper tantrum excitedly exclaiming, "no! That's just what it costs, idk what to say, that's just what it costs!". I couldn't believe it, I was shocked. They didn't care one bit about my experience as a whole, or even about the reason I was up there talking with them, or whether I had a right to be, or even what I was asking for, what would have made it better, nothing, just too bad, that's what it cost. I'm a big fan of Gold Star. I prefer it over Skyline, I will still eat at Gold Star, I'm sure, but I will never again go to the Amelia/withamsville Gold Star Chili. They have shown a clear disregard for customer concern. Their restaurant felt dirty, and unkempt. Who waits until after food comes from a fryer dirty before you clean the fryer? Amelia/ Withamsville Gold Star does. I wonder how long it's been since their soda fountain has been cleaned. Who knows? read more
