We have been residing at 5 Park street Bloomfield, N.J. ( Goldberg Realty Associates property} for 6 years. Our building super Ned has always been courteous and professional always responds to repair requests and sends the appropriate contractors for the job in a timely fashion. He maintains 5 buildings keeps the walkways clear of snow and ice. He keeps us all advised of street plowing any emergency building repairs so we can be prepared. Ned always has time for your questions even tho I can see he is very busy. We would just like to thank him and let him know he is a wonderful building super and is much appreciated! read more

I had a not so great experience due to a bait and switch, and lack of customer service. I first came across a listing by Goldberg Realty Associates on Zillow. They had an extremely under-market priced one-bedroom apartment. I had my doubts about it, but I went ahead and submitted an inquiry on the same day it was listed. Within hours, the listing was removed and I got back a promotional email that said the apartment was taken "site unseen" by another applicant. They proceeded to promote another that was about double the price and nothing like the one I inquired about. I'm in marketing, so I figured "what a sneaky but smart way to get people's email addresses to send them promotions." I let it go and stayed on their email list to see if I could get the jump on any other similar listings. I then came across another one of their listings priced well below market value. I didn't receive any emails about it. And this time I went to verify it on their website. It all looked legit. I still had my doubts, so I emailed the company to ask for a viewing. No response. Since the site seemed legit, I hesitantly submitted an application and paid their $50 application fee. Then I emailed them again, sent them a message on their site, and finally got through on the phone line after declaring that I submitted the $50 application. Then voila! I finally connected with the agent Laureen Maver, who said that I was "pre-approved" and attempted to get me to put a $500 deposit on the apartment "site unseen." But I explained that I already paid $50, the least I can do is see the place before I add more money on top of it. So I finally got the OK for a viewing. Finally, when I went to see the unit, it was NOT like the picture or floor plans showed. The apartment in the listing was renovated and huge. The actual apartment was not renovated, smaller, and some of the amenities that they stated were there were not true. Afterward, I found out that she bumped up my projected move-in date on the lease application without my consent. When I contacted them to ask more questions about the unit and express that If I moved in I could not move in so soon (which meant paying more rent for time I wasn't living there). They responded by saying the apartment was already rented and offered me another apartment that cost over $300 more to rent. Bam, the bait and switch strikes again. I then sent another email to state my concerns, see what alternatives they have, and attempt to resolve the issue of taking my application fee for an apartment that wasn't as advertised. But they ignored me and never responded. The moral of the story is, beware of their bait and switch tactics in their listings. Beware of them changing lease contract terms without your permission. Beware of them taking your application fee for an apartment that doesn't exist or was misrepresented. Once they have your money in hand, if you have any concerns then they will ignore you. They will rush you to put a deposit on an apartment before you can even see it or have a scheduled viewing, which is obviously not the right way to do things in real estate. All they had to do was provide a follow up and a little bit of customer service, but apparently that was asking for too much of them. read more

filthy disgusting apartments. the first floor as you walk in looks OK. Cedar Street Commons an over 62 apartment complex are filled with bugs ants gnats photos . We had an infestation finally after two months and I don't know how many emails and then the board of health they found the source and the dead bugs are still on the window sill in the hall. Supposed to be independent living we have tenants leaving their walkers right in front of a parking space to save their spaces. It looks disgusting. You could park there because they can't save a spot. The other floors of the building are never vacuumed. The walls of hall walls are filthy movers scratch them & & they are never repainted. Two neighbors told me they needed stoves and they give them a stove that you have to clean yourself not self cleaning. These people are over 62 years old some in their 70s 80s. They're gonna get on the floor and clean the oven. You could call Goldberg every day all day anybody in his office they don't care. Forget the manager she's too busy making fancy notices to put on the bulletin board about sewing classes I just got a response from someone and I don't know what apartment she's talking about because these were not built in the 1940s. This realtor company would anger my late father, a fair minded Developer and builder on LI who made a 50 year career making homes on LI for very satisfied renters and owners. Unlike Goldberg who look for money mongering methods to abscond with your money, from application to holding fees, to nonexistent useless onsite management properties, they are this business to make and take your money! Rather than helping prospective renters prepare for and understand the application process, they create a platform that's rife with glitches and designed to get the applicant to pay before all applicants have completed and uploaded documents so they can consider the application submitted and take your $200 (+) and refuse to refund even one applicant even though the office guided the applicants and misinformed them to convince them to pay ahead of time then promise it'll all be fine in the end because "after you pay" they will ensure it's a smooth process! Bottom line, don't rent with these fraudulent "realtor" guys who know nothing about professionalism and customer service, preferring to fabricate exorbitant fees (every other realty company charges half the application fees and use the same online system). They want to get as much money from each potential applicant before they lease an apartment and will use any means necessary to do so. And if you do apply and are approved...look out because their on-site property managers do nothing. I moved into unit 42B in Georgian Arms Apartments in March 2020. The unit is a 1 bedroom Jr basement apartment. It was actually pretty cute and meant to be temporary, but then COVID happened. We moved in on a Saturday and by that Wednesday began having plumbing issues. It was just the beginning. Within several weeks, we asked to be transferred to an empty unit directly across from us because the issue was becoming a regular occurrence. We were denied and told we had to be there for at least 6 months. This was a red flag but we were at the start of the pandemic and the world was different, so we tried to be understanding and patient. Several months later, we're now on friendly terms with the plumbers. Was told in confidence, "this place always has issues. We're always here." They didn't exaggerate. While living in what we refer to as the "dungeon", calling maintenance was part of our monthly/bi-monthly routine. After several failed attempts to transfer and move (again, during the height of the pandemic) year 2 of living in this hell hole, we were finally transferred but not after a MASSIVE flood. The sewer backed up in our tiny unit. Turning the water off did nothing to stop it. In fact, the maintenance person had dismissed me earlier that morning telling me, "Things are under control right now so this isn't a priority, plumbers will stop by later in the day." Well, the stupefied look on his face when I called him 2 hours later to show the level of BLACK, FILTHY water pouring out of the toilet was priceless. So, how did turning the water off turn out for you, got things under control do you???? Three months later we were transferred to another apartment in the same complex and this is WHY I'm forced to write this review........ I had no fault for what was happening in that unit but yet, Goldberg Realty Associates charged ME $700 to move out of an uninhabitable apartment. I wasn't reimbursed for the ruined furniture, clothes, shoes, or handbags but instead, I was CHARGED because of THEIR NEGILGENCE. I was finally able to move into a beautiful home in August 2023. It wasn't planned but that's how the housing market is so I 1) informed the property manager, 2) left mid-month, providing them 2wks of access to prepare the unit for a new tenant. 3) They kept my security for breaking the lease, 4) the unit was rented in Sept and yet...... They sent me to collections for the balance they think is owed to them?????? Goldberg Realty Associates tenants, this is unethical. We are expected/demanded to uphold the terms on the lease yet Goldberg Realty Associates feel zero responsibility to uphold theirs. This is only one story, I have MANY more and there are other tenants with similar horror stories but I also have pictures and videos. Goldberg Realty Associates limits content to this site & undoubtedly will remove my post so I will share this review with videos and pictures on Google and Yelp. As a child, different aunts and uncles rented from Goldberg Realty Associates (GRA) so after college, I sought an apartment with the same company because it was a family run business and they cared about people. Loved my space in Jersey City and it was a beautifully kept building because the landlord had a family and every member of the family helped with the customer service, maintenance, and cleanliness of the building. It was a palace with a door man. Fast forward 25 years and I am renting from them again and as a recent former tenant of three years, much has changed. This building has no superintendent, but a neighboring GRA building shares their landlord with us. He's great but the key ingredient to keeping tenants happy is immediate attention to the concerns (great customer service) and not dismissing or trivializing the concerns as the main office does. This company doesn't seem interested in families or people but is exercising greed as are many currently, and the apartments do not look like the floorplans in the listing. All apartments are not renovated. View before you pay. My building I used to live in had homeless people squatting in different parts of the building, doors were left propped open, people dragged leaky garbage to the refuse room and the limited parking area for tenants had become a meeting space for reefer smokers. The smells that entered my apartment through the window or under the door were not the cooking smells that a tenant may experience in building full of other tenants representing different cultures. There in the building and possibly in your own apartment, you may likely smell skunks, car exhaust, marijuana and sewerage. Oh and did I mention the mice? See the space before you move in, read your lease before you sign it and don't expect to easily be able to move to other units within the properties. read more

I DO NOT give this company your business. I have been living in my apartment for 20yrs. I lived here when it was a ghetto. Not kidding. I had a heroin dealer living next-door. A crack dealer live across from me. Me & other tenants got together & cleaned this place up. Cops are not in here as much as they use to be & it is super quiet. But still they continue to do the repairs as if we are garbage tenants & want $1,400.00 a month from me. Rent is higher for new tenants for a 1 bed 700sq apt. I have been asking for the last 8 years for repairs to get done as they are not all cosmetic. Some are structural. I have sent countless emails. Finally, I got the manager on the phone. She came in my apt. And yet again, I got the song and dance. Oh this is an old apartment. We can't have you without a kitchen. We can only move you if you want WTF? Are you kidding me? I have been without a kitchen draw for over 15yrs. Plus being in a complex like this it's about your neighbors. I love mine & it is mutual. I'm ready to go to court at this point. As my kitchen as been nothing but repairs of shut the fuck up. It's usable. About 9 yrs ago they put down a 2 inch piece of plywood down due to the floor was soft. Causing a fire in my old refrigerator due to not being level. They didn't go under the cabinets & it's still soft in some parts. As they didn't go underneath the cabinets. More recently my oven died that was to be replaced 8-9. Yrs ago. This is what my apt look like & what they did with the new oven. It doesn't fit & now the gas line is where the drawer should be. They still charged me 2 1/2 months rent and overcharged me 100's of dollars saying my shower head and stove were filthy. The truth is I was surrounded by dirt and filth the whole time I lived here. They don't care about their tenants. It's all about the money. They were charging me 2000 a month for the equivalent of a Section 8 or Rent Control property. If I could give negative stars I would. I have every text message over the past four years between my complex manager and I in which you can blatantly see disregards for my concerns. I am sitting in my apartment now, 23 hours after I came home to discover almost 5 inches of sewage in my basement that kept coming in. The plumber was there within two hours. No one started to do any cleanup until early this afternoon. The company to terminally clean my basement full of feces has just arrived. When I mentioned to the manager earlier about getting Servpro here, she told me they aren't authorized to work here. This is all evidenced by text message and pictures. For paying $1900 a month in rent, one would expect to have better response in such a situation that could actually cause health issues. Oh. When I moved from N.Y. in 2014 to Bloomfield, N.J. I was excited to move to what appeared to be a quiet building in a diverse town with easy access to Manhattan. Fours years later, I am wondering how a management company can operate in the manner that Goldberg Realty does and still have quality tenants remain at their properties. Pros: Building is quiet, some people in the building are friendly and public transportation to N.Y. is walking distance for the express bus and a 7-10 minute walk for the train into Manhattan. There are a few new restaurants that have opened nearby as well as older businesses. A thriving downtown is foreseeable in the next five years. There is true community spirit in Bloomfield. If you engage in the community meetings, FB town page and activities sponsored by the town; you will meet wonderful people and connect with the Mayor and Council representatives easily. Cons: 1.The building is not sound proof. You will hear a neighbor's dog barking incessantly, an upstairs neighbor walking at 4am or anything that is occurring in your neighbor's apartment. 2. Maintenance requests are handled in a leisurely/lacksidisical manner and often require several emails/calls/prompts to get repairs completed correctly. 3. Valuing good tenants is not a priority. There are a mix of NY transplants and people that previously lived in the building. Management does not seem to want to keep good tenants happy in order that they continue to rent with Goldberg. If you are looking for a place to live where your concerns are not prioritized, maintenance requests take two-three attempts to get done correctly, unprofessionalism, poor responsiveness and ineffective communication are the norm, 55 Monroe is the perfect building to call home. read more

I will start this review by saying Frank and Mimosa are the best reasons to live at 510 Millburn Avenue. They genuinely care about the tenants and go to great lengths to help anyone where the management company falls short. It is an old building, but they do what they can to keep it looking nice. Our issues with this building started with a package thief the month after we moved in during Summer 2019. The first few packages that we ordered to the building were opened or stolen. The boxes were being dumped in the basement's recycling room, so we know that it was another tenant. There was also a bike stolen from the building around the same time, which shows we were not the only people dealing with this. I repeatedly called Goldberg Realty and asked them to address this issue; they didn't do anything and eventually stopped returning our phone calls. We ended up filing a police report for our stolen items and dealing with it ourselves. We think we either scared the thief or they moved out so that problem resolved itself. The neighborhood around the building is quiet and picturesque. It is a safe, 10 min uphill walk to the train station. The Thai food restaurant is excellent as well as the Italian place next store. The only experience I ever had with noisiness was the tenant next door who would FaceTime with all their friends from 11 pm-2 am. The floors are creaky, so be considerate when you workout or even just walking around your apartment. The final nail in the coffin was Goldberg Realty sending us an email at the beginning of 2020 about raising our rent on the 550 sqft one-bedroom apartment that was barely worth the $1,450 per month. Our kitchen was a converted closet. The oven could not fit a large baking tray, and the sink was unusable after cooking a meal for two people. Also, the parking permit you need to park in the lot behind the building does not last the whole year. We had to pay $350 for 2019 and then $455 for half of 2020. Pro Tip: Make sure you THOROUGHLY clean the apartment when you move-out, including the inside of the oven (under the burners), because Goldberg Realty Associates is actively looking for reasons to take your security deposit. The building supervisor will have you do a walkthrough when you move out and tell you what you should clean to avoid the charges. It is honestly probably worth hiring someone to clean your apartment if you can afford it. If you are willing to accept that the management company doesn't care about you, are comfortable paying about $900 a year to park in a consistently empty parking lot and can deal with petty problems by yourself, this place is fine. read more

My mother who is a senior has been living in Livingston apts for over 10 years - at first was great experience. Now maintenance issues are not resolved in timely manner with seniors not having water and then hot water on and off for 4 weeks and residents aren't appropriately even updated so they can make back up plans. Not safe to heat water to put in Tubs and wash dishes but treated like complaints are an inconvenience for company- do your homework before renting . read more

The Super is super! I cannot say enough about the super at Maryann Apts. He is always polite, dependable and responsive. When the entrance door jammed on CHRISTMAS EVE! at about 4:30AM!, when I got home, it was Darrett who came to the rescue after the emergency hotline proved to be an effort in futility - it was a holiday, it was 4am and he was ON VACATION! I couldn't believe he actually picked up the phone, but he did, and that's what makes him better than the rest. That is just one example of how dedicated this man is - he never loses sight that there are human beings inside the apartments he is obliged to maintain. That's huge. read more

My lease renewal was up on 7/31/23 at 40 Roseland Ave. I did not sign any renewals beyond that but continue to stay at the apartment while still looking for a bigger place. I continued to pay my rent every month, timely. At the end of August, I found another place that was available for move in by 9/15. I proceeded to give Goldberg NTV on 9/1/23. I spoke with one of their employees and told him that I was going to pay for the entire month of Sept. but that I would move out on 9/16 to allow them to make any repairs and make the apartment ready for a new tenant by 10/1/23. Upon leaving I left the apt clean and in livable condition. I have plenty of pictures to prove the apt could've been rented within a week. Goldberg, however, had other plans. By law, they advertised the apt but continued to change the available date. It started with 10/1, 10/9, 10/10 & now 10/14. I currently live very close to the apt and I have seen that they're making an entire renovation to the place beyond what is necessary for a new tenant. I also noticed that the new rent is now almost $1,000 above the rent that I was paying. So basically, they are doing a full renovation that they will end up writing off, ON MY DIME just to charge a rent that is ridiculously high. I've spoken to 3 different Goldberg employees only to get nowhere. They kept my security deposit to pay for October as they want to hold you to a 60-day notice that was signed in the original lease that expired in 2015... I have nothing beyond 7/31 that holds me to a 60-day notice. They refused to do the right thing and return my security deposit to me. I was in this apt for over 9 years & was a good tenant. I do not deserve for them to keep my money to pay for their delayed renovations. The economy is very bad to allow this greedy rich company to keep people's hard-earned money. I want to point all attention to the property manager, Heather and the regional manager, Dina Coakley For starters I highly recommend you have an attorney look over your lease. Management makes up their own rules over there constantly harass you at home and at work with baseless threats of court and towings. 1. They do not give you the interest amount on your security deposit so you have no idea what you're accumulating and when I did finally find out after contacting my attorney they only partially refunded me the amount and tried to steal 55 dollars from me. 2. They claim if you cover a motorcycle from the elements it breaks lease agreement and are subject to towing. So if you have a motorcycle they expect you to keep it uncovered. Nothing in the lease states you can not protect your property. My lawyer shut them down quick on that one. And to add insult to injury they want me to pay their legal fees when they stirred the pot broke lease agreement. 3. I have asked them to repair the leak in my bathroom. They did but never finished the job. Heather does not answer her phone, EVER! So i have an unfinished unpainted bathroom. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO CALL HOME. I have been a tenant for almost a year now and I am happy that I moved here. After living in a home for over nine years and changing to being a tenant again I was very nervous. The on site manager Krystana is the best! She is responsive, kind, and always makes sure tenant's needs are being addressed. This is big complex but I swear she knows everyone on a first name basis. One of the things that I was concerned about was maintenance and how that would be diff becoming a tenant. Well no complaints here ... Eddie and the rest of the maintenance team is there right away. Every time it snows they have snow removers on site prior to work hours so we can get out safely. It's really a nice community people always speak the kids play in the common areas, even my dog has made new friends with the neighborhood dogs! It's close to major highways and shopping centers. My cousin, Bob Cronheim, was the previous property owner when my mother, 4 of us kids, and a dog all moved in here. Needless to say, I love this place! Hector's performance as a superintendent is Stellar!! He immediately responds to apartment concerns, from a clogged sink to a malfunctioning refrigerator light and everything in between! Hector schedules work to be done quickly and efficiently. He keeps the tenants informed about when he or another person will be by to assess the problem and remediate it. Above all else, Hector is visible as he can be seen outside tending to garbage pickup on the lawns, or working in his tool room, or consulting with outside services who arrive to work on individual apartments. Hector is extremely approachable. He is always smiling and greets his tenants in the most pleasant manner. I imagine that he probably knows the names of every tenant in every unit as he is very attentive and personable! I am currently renting a one bedroom apartment and after just two months, I'm already debating renewing my lease. The apartment is near a fire station and a large field that had sporting events. Neither are particularly noisy in my opinion. Pros:The updated unit is nice, good lighting, decent appliances and cabinets, good closet space for the square footage, and a very nice vanity. Everyone has an assigned parking space, the garbage area is kept reasonably tidy, the laundry room is kept clean, heat and hot water is included, the building is walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Bloomfield Avenue and also near public transportation. Cons: The apartment is extremely noisy. There is absolutely no sound proofing between the ceilings and floor. I, unfortunately, moved under an elephant and the stomping wakes me up at all hours of the night (I am not a light sleeper)sometimes it is so loud that it sounds as if someone is stomping through my apartment. I've lived in apartments my entire life so I understand that some noise is to be expected but this is crazy. I can also hear the person who lives under me speaking through my bedroom floor. There is no guest parking and no one can park on the street between 2-6am, and public transportation to NY isn't very convenient if you want to go enjoy nightlife. Lastly, the kitchen is a kitchenette so you can't have a full sized table. read more

I'm currently in touch with one of the associates for 61 Duncan Avenue. I told them that I really liked the photos and want to schedule a visit. They said that the apartment will be free to view next week. I called them on the day the apartment was to be vacated so that I could schedule a viewing soon, but I was told that they've begun renovating the apartment and I cannot schedule a viewing. ADDITIONALLY, they asked me to fill out the application because 'THESE AWESOME PROPERTIES RENT OUT FAST'. I've still not seen the unit, and I'm unsure of what my next steps should be. This review is about the process of finding the apartment and the help i got from Golderg Realty - We all know that looking for a place to live is a stressful process and dealing with ppl who have no clues, are impatient, or just plain clueless is the worst- I called GRA about renting an apartment in Summit and spoke with Laureen - She was the nicest person i had spoken with in a very long time while apartment searching - She gave me the superintendent number and told me he would show me around. I reached out to Miguel, who spent 80 minutes with my bf and I walking through the property, answering my million questions, showing us his own place (ours was similar to his but in renovation), giving us an overview of the rental process and the rental property. He definitely did not have to do it, but he chose to because he cares about his job. The place is spotless, and i am not talking about my apartment per se (which isn't anyway LOL) but the maintenance... if you ever need to deal with someone at GRA, call Laureen!!!! read more

Is there any worse place to rent from in NJ? Idts. People who live in the place are awful. Had issues of vandalism. Never anywhere to park. Never getting appliances fixed. This place is the worst. If I could leave a zero star review I would. read more

I'm not sure if he is apart of Goldberg realty but I found a Bloomfield apartment. I spoke to this lovely lady on the phone Dayna. Then she gives me the number for josh to make an appointment to see an apartment. I called after hours so I figured I would leave a message. He was so rude and answers so annoyed it's after hours call in the morning. I told him off and told him he was rude. I'm so disgusted I will not be calling back. 5 stars to Dayna. read more
