I have been a resident here at Liberty House for, what would've been, 10 years, and it pains me to even write this review...but, enough is enough. I received a lease renewal of over 18%, which I found absolutely insane not only due to the length of my tenancy, but to the fact that this increase was not, in any way, justifiable by current market trends. However, thanks to the help of Samantha, she was able to present me with a much lower renewal that was more realistic. I was ecstatic because Samantha was able to keep me in my budget so I can continue living in my home where so many beautiful memories and accomplishments have been made. Since I've been here for so long, I've seen MANY managers come and go, and Samantha has by far been the most helpful, most genuine, and most caring. However, Lordis MUST be held accountable for her consistent malicious actions and disgusting commentary. I had to write this review anonymously due to Lordis's proven track record of making any resident's living experience so miserable to the point where they are forced to move out if that resident speaks up on her behavior, and I refuse to allow her to do the same to me and my family. As I was waiting for the elevator after leaving the office to discuss my renewal (the elevator is right next to the office, by the way), I overheard Lordis say "Sam! Did they renew?" Samantha responded "yeah, I got them a better renewal offer." Lordis then responded (and I remember word for word because I was in such disbelief), "those kind of people are always looking for discounts but want to walk around thinking they're royalty like they don't stink up the whole hallway!" (For reference, I am from India and my husband is from Pakistan). There was a brief moment of silence, assuming everyone else in the office was in the same disbelief, then she continued while laughing and said "it's true! Right, Patrick? Tell me when you walk past any of those Indian apartments it doesn't stink!? Nobody wants to smell that curry all day. We could've let them give notice, sorry Sam." I pulled my phone out to begin recording, but the statements ended there since it was clear that Samantha and Patrick was not entertaining her foolishness. This was extremely hurtful and heartbreaking because I was so excited to go upstairs and let my husband know that we can renew our lease for our home that we loved SO much. But, within just 10-15 seconds, that excitement was shattered. My husband and I have given our notice to move out. How could we possibly continue to live in a place where with such a disgusting, evil, and malicious manager? 9 years. We're letting go of our home for the past 9 years. It would've been a MUCH better staffing decision by Windsor if Samantha was hired as the main manager, but instead, they decided to hire a monster. Going through previous reviews, I see there is someone from Windsor that responds. So I would like to state, since this will clearly be seen by someone higher, that my husband and I do not wish to rectify, speak about, or meet with ANYONE regarding this review as we would like to enjoy our last two months living here without being exposed to Lordis malicious and retaliatory behavior. However, just a word of advice, get rid of that monster before she causes this property to lose more residents and before she runs your business through the mud. As a resident, we always only see Samantha and/or Patrick running around and doing all of the work anyway, so there is clearly not a need for her. To anyone looking to potentially live here, it's a great property in a beautiful neighborhood. Samantha is a wonderful resident manager and Patrick is a sweet kid. But, if you come tour, ask of Lordis is still the manager. If the answer is yes....RUN!!! Do not move here until this monster is replaced. read more

I have rented in the NYC area for 10 years and have never experienced a worse property management team or company. Steer clear of Windsor Communities at any cost. Do not rent here if you have even one other option. The building management company at Windsor at Liberty house is unresponsive, impossible to reach, and deeply apathetic towards the people who live in the building. When there is an issue, they are not present, available, or helpful, regardless of the severity of the situation. For emergencies, they will route you to the maintenance team, the leasing office, or a call center. There is no direct email address or phone number to contact Windsor Communities or the management team for 100 Dudley Street. In the event you do make contact with them, they will not help, or assist you in addressing whatever issue may have arisen. The "management" provided by Windsor Communities is either (A) non-existent, or (B) actively harmful. A short list of issues we encountered in our 1 year tenure in this building: (1) the fire alarms are repeatedly faulty (usually going off late at night); (2) the parking garage in the south building does not reliably shut/lock, and is constantly breaking down, risking vehicle theft and damage; (3) several of the key elevators used by residents are regularly broken/out of use for maintenance; (4) there is no secure package system. Packages are routinely left outside the building, inside the front entrance, in the common area at the 100 Dudley entrance, or otherwise unsecured; (5) the management team has routinely completely disregarded communications regarding ordinary course payment disputes; (6) we were charged amenity fees for a gym that was largely unavailable; (7) we were also routine double-charged and erroneously charged for parking; and (8) even though we were only here for one year, we had multiple significant appliances break and need whole-sale replacing (fridge/freezer and dishwasher). To be clear: some of the apartments themselves are nice, and the building maintenance staff are fast and responsive for true maintenance issues. Even the leasing office personnel try to be helpful (though candidly, they are rarely ever physically present or available by phone). However, none of that even slightly compensates for the complete failures of Windsor Communities to properly manage this building and attend to the welfare of its residents. Do. Not. Rent. 1. Windsor management is closing off ALL amenities starting from September 2024 until "late spring" in 2025, for moving things around and renovating. Given the nature of constructions/renovations, only god knows how long the existing tenants will lose access to the amenities. 2. Although the buildings claim all units are equipped with central AC, a lot of the times the central AC simply don't work. They just can't cool the apartment to a reasonable temperature. Maintenance keeps giving the tenants big-size floor standing air conditioners, or keeps pumping Freon into the systems, instead of fixing the central AC permanently. 3. Ground floor tenants routinely have bug infestation problems. 4. There is no way to use the front entrance for strollers/wheelchairs in the south building. There is a ramp on the outside. But once you get to the lobby there are a few more stairs to climb before you have access to the elevator. The handicap elevator is closed permanently. The only way to bring a stroller upstairs is to go through the garage, which can be dangerous due to poor visibility. 5. The south building only has two working elevators. The third elevator has been under construction/waiting for inspection for over a year now. When there are multiple families moving there would be no working elevators in the south building. 6. The light rail is in fact really loud. Not only that, when the trains pass the buildings also vibrate. 7. Some of my maintenance tickets were closed without the issues being addressed. read more

It's a wooden-brick structured building, so although most time it's quiet, I can hear noise from time to time. Depending on how sensitive you are to noise, your living experience might be pretty different. If you do care, I'd suggest you to visit it in person. If you don't care a lot on noise, in general I think it's a fair place. Pretty spacious. Ana (S*******va) is very responsive and considerate, and helped me handled issues elegantly. read more

We never rented an apartment here so we can't speak to that experience. However, we had a bad experience with trying to apply. The apartment met our needs, even though we weren't crazy about the cheap finishes or the discolored refrigerator. But when we went in to apply, oops! The rent had gone up $300 in two days. Funny how that happened right when we were on the point of applying but not when they were trying to sell us on the apartment. Seems like bait and switch to me. Also don't take the rent on the website at face value: there are lots of additional fees -- if you have a pet, for parking, if you want the vinyl floors instead of carpet, etc. read more

My friend and I were looking to move closer to our jobs in NY and have been to a lot of buildings. The building was beautiful and some apartments even had the option of updating the appliances which I thought was awesome. The amenities were great as well, plenty to do. Matthew was our leasing consultant at Windsor and he has got to be the best leasing consultant we have had! Super informative and showed us every option he had, very warm and friendly and had a solution to every concern! If it wasn't for a set back we would have moved in right away! Me and my wife have lived here for 1.5 years so far and we really love it. When it came to renewing our lease Anna was a absolutely the most helpful person I've ever worked with!!!!!! The staff is super friendly and maintenance responds very quickly. Location is great because it is equal distance to both path stations and the light rail is super close as well. The pool is more for little kids than it is for adults without kids, but the gym is nice and the package room and parking are super convenient. read more

The community is nice and the management are nice people. The building is in an ideal location for transport to NYC and in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood. We lived in our apartment for over three years and enjoyed our time there despite some noise issues from surrounding apartments. Unfortunately not a great experience when it came to money. After a website update, we had to re-input our details for rent auto-pay. However, multiple months we received a late fee. The site was not storing the information past each payment, so the following month we'd not be debited, as it simply wasn't auto paying despite our efforts to set it up EVERY month. We advised management that we were inputting everything correctly, but still, we never received any of those late fees back ($75 each time, multiple times on top of already very high rent) Upon moving out, I spent a week deep cleaning the apartment, including cleaning the bath and shower area three times before check out, only to find our deposit had a deduction for 'shower/ tub not clean'. I must point out that the tub was discoloured BEFORE we moved in, so the only way for it to be completely clean would be to replace the whole tub prior to us moving in. I asked why we were charged, but was told 'Unfortunately our cleaning contractor did have to charge us for the cleaning.' This is the sixth apartment we've lived in over the past 15 years and the first one to deduct from our deposit, which is disappointing considering the effort we went to to get it clean for check out. read more

I lived here for 2 years. The apartments are located in a really wonderful neighborhood. Paulus Hook has so many great restaurants and has a great neighborhood feel to it. The maintenance staff at Windsor was great. Every time we had a request, we filled out the request form online and everything was taken care of for us. The people that work in the office was also really nice to us. Justin and Zack stand out as great people that work there. Always friendly and always ready to help. The only reason this does not get 5 stars is that it is a little pricey. But the location is great and you get what you pay for. The walls were a little thin but nothing that ever really bothered us. The light rail makes some noise but all in all it is a really quiet place to live. There are parking spots, a gym, a swimming pool and a room with a pool table/tv. This is definitely a place to check out if you are looking in the Paulus Hook area. read more

Amazing apartment and management! I have lived here for 3 years. Extremely sad to be moving out. The first year I lived in a 2 bedroom flexed into a 3 bedroom and the last 2 years I upgraded to a 3 bedroom. This is one of the few apartments that let you build a wall up to the ceiling. We used Room Divider NY for the wall. The new apartment I moved to is definitely not as great and the management isn't as stellar as the one at Windsor either. Maintenance are great and fix every request quickly. Especially Antonio who has been working here for many years. I'm going to miss randomly running into him to chat. The property manager Caroline is very responsive and cares very much about your satisfaction. A few people have came and went the 3 years I've been here, but I think Jennifer is still here and she's also amazing and will get things done for you. One huge pro is that if you have a car, the parking spot is essentially free as it is built into the rent. As with all apartments there are some downsides, but the pros definitely outway the cons. You can collect packages from the aerobics room from 12pm-9pm Mon-Fri, and until 5pm on weekends. Since the apartment has so many entrances, packages seem like they don't always get to concierge. I see packages at various entrances instead of being brought to the package pick up location in the aerobics room. If a tenant does not give permission to view the apartment, you will not be able to see it before you rent it out. We had this issue and took a leap of faith and rented it and looked at the apartment after the previous tenants moved out. Pre-renovation it was one of the worst apartments I have ever seen. But the management reassured us it would be cleaned and renovated and look completely different. We had misgivings, but they were right. The apartment looked brand new when it was done and they put in extra shelving as we requested. Caroline even got us new appliances (refrigerator and stove) for us once we expressed our concerns. This is one management you can trust. Here's a rundown of the pros and cons: Pros: - Amazing and communicative management and maintenance - Well maintained apartments - Easy to use resident portal to pay rent, submit maintenance requests, view documents - Gym with TVs - Pool and BBQ area - Business Center - Parking spot is included in the lease - Gas Stoves - In unit laundry and dryer - Fast maintenance - Easy online payment system - Central Heating - Great Neighborhood - Light rail stop nearby Cons: - Farther from the Path, about 12-15 min. depending on your walking speed - Printer in business center often runs out of ink - Packages sometimes gets lost - No doorman Paulus Hook is also a beautiful and clean neighborhood. The apartment complex is nearby a lot of cafes, delis, restaurants, and pharmacies. My favorite deli is Two Aprons and my favorite pharmacy is Hook Pharmacy. They also have a dry cleaning run by a cute Korean couple directly across the street. Shoprite is a farther walk away, but you can also hop on the light rail. If you're in a pinch Hudson Greene Market is a short walk away. Again super sad to be moving out, but I feel like I might eventually move back depending on how the year goes. read more

I have moved in a one bedroom since Jan 2014. All staffs in the management office are very patient and friendly. The maintenance always respond within 48 hours or even most of time, 24 hours! Locations are not perfect compared to nearby luxury apartments but the price is nice enough, especially considering the parking lot is included. The price didn't extremely increase in my second lease. That's a big advantage around this area. The only drawback in my apartment is that the "windows" are actually a door with rail, no balcony. This is a very weird design, and the doors keep leaking even after the maintenance paste several weather striping. I need to use towel to block the leak (still cannot perfectly block) otherwise my room will become very cold. read more

We can't sing the praises of the Windsor at Liberty House team enough. My husband and I have been long-time renters, and we have never lived in a community that was so well managed. Everyone that works here is incredibly friendly and any issues are resolved quickly and effectively. Additionally, the property is kept clean and beautifully landscaped. The apartments are very comfortable and the noise level is the lowest of any apartment we've ever lived in. Our neighbors keep to themselves but are friendly, and the amenities are adequate. We looked at several communities in the Paulus Hook area, and we're so happy we went with this one. read more

I've lived here for about 6-months, and I haven't been this happy with an apartment complex in years! The maintenance staff is fast, friendly, and kind. The complex is very well maintained. The management is very kind and responsive. It includes a parking space with your rent. You don't have to wait long for elevators like the big high rises. I feel like prices are fairly reasonable...I sincerely hope that if/when I renew my lease that there is not a huge rent increase. We will see! One thing: most apartments have carpet. Just the way it is. I didn't like it at first...But now I don't mind because I think it keeps the apartments very quiet. Or it is very well built...I've never once heard my neighbors. Very nice, quiet, family oriented, working professionals living here. My only suggestion for improvement is a request to upgrade some of the gym equipment and maybe make the lighting in the gym a bit brighter. Some of the treadmills are wobbly and shake while you run. Small suggestion though...overall the gym is quite adequate and rarely crowded. read more

Extremely well-managed apartment complex. Lived here in a 1BR for two years. The management team was always fast and responsive when we had questions about applying, renewing, parking spaces, guests, etc. The maintenance request process was smooth as well, and the service team was great as well. I would also note that the area is great as well. It's pretty tame and quiet at night, and walking to the waterfront whenever you need to clear your mind is awesome. It is walking distance to grove street, and exchange place PATH stations as well as the light rail. Don't underestimate how valuable it is to be accessible to multiple options! read more

We moved in two weeks ago and Natasha has been amazing before, during, and after our move. The neighborhood and the building itself is calm and quiet. The neighbor's are really polite and very nice. Same with the staff. Card access parking under the building is fantastic and convenient. The garbage/recycling/compactor is always being emptied and cleaned. Same with the amenities, including our building lounge area. You can't beat Paulus Hook as far as JC goes. We are slightly over a 10 minute walk to anywhere we would want to be including Grove St. read more

This is a great community and excellent value proposition for rental apartment in Paulus Hook. We only stayed for 10 months because we fell in love with the neighborhood and moved into a condo down the street. while we lived there, I was thoroughly impressed with the office and maintenance staff. Super friendly and accommodating. the property is well maintained & has great amenities. Units are cleaned up real nice prior to move in. We saw our apartment before the previous tenants moved out, and had quite a few concerns about the condition it was in. we were assured it would all be taken care of prior to move in. sure enough, it was immaculate the day we got the keys. read more

I have lived here for over a year now. Originally moved in with my wife in a 1 bedroom and now have upgraded to a duplex. Prior to living here I spent 12 years in Hoboken and was surprised how much I like the Paulus Hook neighborhood. Great restaurants and very easy to get into the city via the path trains. As are other places in this area, it is a little pricey but I will give this place a 5 star review b/c the staff is great. We had some minor issues but they are always fixed very fast. The convenience of having the parking inside the building, the pool, the fitness center, the staff for packages and common space is great. Eventually we will move out and buy a place but I think I will miss living here, it has a bit of a hotel feel to it from the customer service level. read more

We moved here in fall of 2014 after living in a Windsor in the DC area for 3 months. We were impressed by the service previously with Windsor communities and haven't been disappointed by our new home and the staff. We had a few maintenance issues, one of them large and required use of our renters insurance, but the care given by the entire staff over something that happens anywhere was wonderful. It feels incredible to have such a beautiful community so close to the city paired with a truly kind, genuine and sincere staff. We have encouraged many of our friends to come to Jersey City to enjoy the wonderful community of Paulus Hook (not just at Windsor) as well as much cheaper rent than Manhattan. Still able to get into the city quickly with ease, with both Exchange Place and Grove Station nearby. Also the ferries are just steps away. Turn down one street and see the gorgeous view of lower Manhattan, look down another and see the sun set over the Statue of Liberty Tips: Get a 4th floor apartment if available as its less noise from neighbors walking above, which I have experienced equally in every apartment across the US and reduces the likelihood of dealing with leaks from a water heater above which happened to us, (or washer/dishwasher/toilet) if it occurs. If you happen to get an apartment facing the Light Rail, the train is noticeable at first but if you can adjust its like whitenoise... Took me awhile to get used to it though. However, if you know you won't get used to it or someone in your family wouldn't pick a unit that faces another street or in towards the middle of the complex. Perks: Get togethers, free gym, parking space, concierge for packages, incredible staff as mentioned, beautifully manicured grounds, quick to immediate response to everything (even the middle of the night leaks on weekends), great restaurants nearby, friendly neighbors, pet friendly and more. read more

Thanks to Windsor's flexible terms we were able to find a place to stay for a short period of time. The maintenance crew and everyone in the leasing office (especially Grace) were very friendly and helpful. The buildings and common areas were very well managed. A parking spot was included in the rent so it was a plus. Location is great as it is close to restaurants and public transportation e.g. PATH. There are also a gym, swimming pool, and room for entertainment. If you are looking for a place to stay in downtown JC, this is definitely a place to check out. read more

We have enjoyed living here, maintenance and office staff are great and very responsive. Our apartment has older fixtures and carpet but I think there are some newer renovated apartments that look a little nicer. Location is great for light rail, Path, and ferry and it's a very friendly community. Very warm and cozy in winter - we never needed to turn on our heat. HOWEVER a word of warning: if you are a non-smoker be very careful about moving here. They allow smoking on the balconies, and the people below us were out there constantly smoking which completely prevented us from using our balcony (so as not to risk our health and feel sick from the smell!) and despite my requests (both to management and directly to the smokers) to go out to the courtyard or elsewhere to smoke, I was told their right to smoke trumps my right to use the balcony. Quite disappointing. But, if you like to smoke this could be a wonderful place to live. read more
