The experience was efficient and courteous, but I'm docking one star because other online competitors publish stronger sell-to prices, often within less than one percent of spot. I asked if they could match or improve pricing, but after consulting with their trader, they declined. They mentioned they usually match but could not at this time. I went ahead with the sale to give them a try because I am looking for a reliable local gold dealer. I haven't been here since pre-Covid and it has changed considerably. I used to buy cash and carry. The buy was anonomous, I can't recall if the sell was anonomous. Now the store isn't open and you have to have a registered account to buy stuff. When you buy, they will ship the merchandise to you, in part because they seem a bit light on inventory in spite of what is shown as in stock on the website. They didn't have the silver I called about and wanted to order it. Also, if you want to take possession in person, you need to take delivery in the parking lot. This is OK if you have a cash balance in your account to pay for what you want to pick up. This is not the same store that I used to go to to buy/sell my silver. read more

After a small gift from somebody, I decided to "go buy some silver", but had no clue how to do it. We weren't talking about much money, but I still wanted to do business with the best place possible. So I went onto the Internet to find a place, and spent hours and hours reading website text :(. Why did I decide to take my small purchase here for my first experience, this venture into precious metals? :) (1) It was the first website I found that was even vaguely interesting and useful. In fact I would go so far as to say it was helpful for a first-timer. (2) Other serious dealer websites seemed quite uninterested in doing any business with a person unless the minimum ante of $50,000+ was met ... well, that precluded our doing business :) So off I went. No point pretending to be anything other than a neophyte so I just owned up, said I had no clue what I was doing and could they help me. Well, they did. It's not a "warm and fuzzy" place just because of the nature of the business (high security building, and a lot of pretty busy people); but I felt I was treated respectfully and with a few smiles thrown into the conversation. Dealt with a nice young man who I think might have been related to an owner. Ultimately, I realized the score ... Everybody will be treated with respect when they come to buy or sell, as long as they have the goods or money to actually do some business, and regardless whether its a small or large amount. No b.s. here ... it's not how you're dressed, it's whether you're there to get some business done. And I mean that ... I saw a couple people come in who looked [let's just say a little ragged and rough] and they were treated just as politely as me ... and in fact it looked as if they had some serious business to conduct compared with my paltry little effort, LOL. It could be nerve-wracking walking out if you were dealing in large sums, but then you see a serious-looking guard out in the parking lot which would make a serious Investor feel better I imagine. After numerous visits and transactions, I will no longer be giving my business to CNI. During my last and final visit, I intended to sell some Chinese Silver Panda sets. There is one gentleman in particular who deals with these. He briefly inspected my two sets, gave me a price, and I accepted. When going to retrieve the funds, he returned and informed me one set would be 33% less SOLELY because the cardboard top to the box was missing. The actual case of the set was completely intact, however. What does not make sense is that these cardboard boxes have no impact on the value of the actual coin case and the silvers contained within. I find it unprofessional to renege on one's word in any business. He failed to addressed the missing box to begin with. I further inquired about the spot rate for these particular coins, wondering how the year of production could impact the value. He was beyond vague and not helpful in the slightest. This gentleman could hardly look me in the eye, well-knowing there was no logic to his after-the-fact change of his offer. For a place that I have gone to repeatedly, and referred others to, I am abhorred. $75 dollars is more important to some than treating clients with honesty and respect, or some it seems. It's a shame that this man's action so poorly reflect on this establishment. CNI gave me the best pricing for my difficult to sell rhodium bar. I live in NorCal and none of the shops would come close in price or didn't bother with the metal. I was a bit paranoid shipping as it was my first time with such a high value item, but Harry did a fantastic job putting me at ease and walking me through the process. Two of the people here with the low reviews are complaining about the shady spot prices AND cannot use cell phones. Well I've been to quite a few coin stores and it is common to not be able to use cell phones. That is just a safety precaution they like to do. Maybe they don't want people to arbitrage like buy at a lower price in one store while on the phone with someone to sell at a higher price. The other thing is they were selling silver at considerably higher than spot .. yes.. But I remember that time (may still be true) other places were worse. 1) Rude Customer Service. 2) They don't allow cell phones or electronic devices inside the store because they don't want you to know the true comex spot price. CNBC will show the comex spot price on the television right there. They will make their own significantly lower spot price even though they say they buy at spot(whatever they make it to be at that time lol); 3) This shop plays too many games with the spot price. They say they pay cash but once the deal is done, they will come back with a check saying that they ran out of cash. When you go to CNI's bank (wells fargo) to cash the check , CNI's acct has it setup that anyone that cashes there check will be charged $5. 4) I am done with this shop. This is not the first time I have been disappointed by CNI, and I am very glad I only called them and did not go to their location. I had recently been contacted by the US Marshals regarding copper NORFED Ron Paul coins I had bought and the US Government confiscated during the Sunshine Mint raid on Nov 14 2007. After a decade long court battle my coins were finally being returned to me. Given the historic nature of these coins I wanted to pay to have them graded. CNI told me not to even bother bringing them in to be submitted. So glad we have Wilshire Coin, and Southbay Gold not too far away, they will be getting all my business from now on. read more
